Or as I read Oprah Channel could pick them up. Maybe that is why she had the stars on a few months back. I get cancelling AMC but OLTL no. SO wrong. I hate ABC. I will not watch any shows on their network. I love their news and GMA but I am done. Big mistake, huge! Rex really did rock yesterday. I never saw him better.
I keep seeing on various places, that people are done with ABC and will not watch any shows on that network anymore. I totally agree with the sentiment, but if we stop watching NOW, and don't care enough to see OLTL and AMC play out to the end, we are just proving that they are right...that we can do without our soaps. Even though I'm mad as h*** at what they're doing at the network, I fully intend to keep watching GH as long as it's still around, even after OLTL and AMC are gone. They may yank GH, too, one of these days. I'd like to see them go to Lifetime, or a network like that, because not everyone gets OWN on their cable service. (Yes, like me, for instance.)
I'm sorry...I didn't mean to hijack the Shane thread. The bullying story is awesome. Great acting all around. Too bad it's being overshadowed by all the off screen drama!
I will watch OLTL and maybe AMC. Not a fan of AMC anymore. But I will watch then till the end. I love General and you do make a good point. I just dont' get the whole cancellation of OLTL. They talked AMC for months. WE all need to do something to save them, what I don't know. The amount of people who are out of work, who relocated their lives. It is beyond awful. I can't even think.
I bet GH is next. With the soap net channel beig replaced with a kids channel it seems plan to me that ABC/ Disney wants all its soaps off its channels.
I am willing to put money down that NBC kills Days before ABC kills GH, Days has been in the hot seat for years...AMC only since they started talking about moving it to LA.
Soapnet has been doomed since 2010.....
It would be smart of ABC to sell th shows, but it won't happen. ABC knew when it moved AMC to the west coast that they were going to be canceling AMC. They were just getting all their ducks lined up to pull the trigger.
We can conjecture, hope and pray all we want, but ABC has time and again proven that they do not listen to the fans. Why would they start now??
2.5 million people will not be watching 'The Chew'.....
Brian Frons needs to be tarred and feathered!!! What is this guy smoking??? I'm so pissed, I can't find the words to say without my post getting deleted. I hope "The Chew" CHOKES!!!
I thought soap channel is going to be taken off the air as well.
Here is what I don't understand, and perhaps someone can clear it up for me. I am furious over ABC's doings. At present time, the only thing I watch on ABC is the soaps. I work full time, therefor, much of my "soap time" is spent with SoapNet. If we are so set on doing away with these programs, why not dedicate a channel to this type of thing. Food has it's own channel, Home and Garden has a channel, even Shopping has a channel. Why can't we keep SoapNet? Pull all of the soaps off of regular programming if you want - but keep us a channel! I loved Ty Treadway and Lisa Rina on Soap Talk. I would love to see old re-runs of Soaps as they first came out. Give us the opportunity to catch up on story's from the past. Just give us one losy channel! You already know that there would be 2 million plus viewers! Pull soaps from the past like Dark Shadows and Guiding Light. Let the current soaps be. Keep making them. Just put them on their own channel like they deserve to be. Let the people who have devoted their lives to this keeping going and entertaining their fans - Robin Strauser, Erika Slezyk - maybe misspelled-, Susan Lucci, Robert Woods. Money hungry execs - LEAVE THE SOAP FANS ALONE!
Why not do soaps in seasons not unlike prime time? The new shows will be in seasons...so why couldn't they do that? Concentrated programming, and then the ultimate end-of-season cliffhanger?
It would cut costs, free up actors to persue other gigs off season, and free up the studio for other shows to be taped. Salaries will be reduced due to the lesser amout of episodes. But everyone has gainful work.
If I'm not mistaken the soapnet channel is also going away. Disney is taking over. Not sure when though; maybe early next year I think.
Soapnet ends in Jan 2012... just like OLTL.
For me that means no GH after that cause I watch at night. I can't afford a DVR reciever and I work so bye bye GH for me come January. :(
I miss the faces from the old forum!. I miss the old forum!!!
You are 100% right-every single interest out there is represented by a channel on DirectTV. Hunting, fishing, racing, golf, tennis, food, gardening, animal planet, science, history, talk, news, weather, you name it. And for soaps fans we have SoapNet! But not for long thanks to daytime drama destroyer Brian Frons. Not only is he taking our shows off ABC he is killing SoapNet. WHY??? Take them off the network & let them air on SoapNet at 12, 1 & 2 (Central time) then rerun some old shows till 5 & start the evening lineup like it is-Days, Y&R, AMC, OLTL, GH. Whatever, I would not care what the schedule is as long as our soaps CONTINUE. We cannot let this happen. The only talk show I've watched in years was Lisa & Ty, loved it, also loved 1 day with Wally Kurth & Soapography. SoapNet rocks. There are so many old shows they could put on. I'd love to see Santa Barbara from the beginning-I got in on that one late. Edge of Night would be great & if only they could get the rights to finish Ryan's Hope. I have watched it from the beginning only to have it stop after several years & start over. Aggravating. Anyway, I can't believe that there are fewer soap fans than any other category in this country-that we can't support a channel of our own. Why screw with the most passionate fans out there? I promise that when the Chew is cancelled & it will be, nobody will be writing a letter begging them to save it.
I miss the faces from the old forum too girlfriend! I just hate all this shows being cancelled, forums being f*&ed up.....sad so very dayum sad
One phrase that sums up how I feel: I hate Brian Frons. The idiocy of the man is unbelievable. There are millions of soap fans out there who loves these soaps. They're invited into out homes and lives on a daily basis. Soap stars are the hardest working actors out there. I've watched many many soaps over the years starting with The Edge of Night. I keep changing soaps because they keep getting canceled. I've watched OLTL for 20 yrs now. There is nothing that brings me more happiness and joy than when I see a replay of that day's episode at night after a hard day at work and finishing up my home chores. I love just sitting on the couch and getting lost in the characters' lives. I was devastated when I read that the show was being cancelled. Absolutely devastated as if someone kicked me in the gut. I went through the next days like in a fog. I knew something was very wrong and everytime I remembered I felt sick to my stomach. Brian Frons is a loser. Noone wants to see more cooking shows or "lifestyle" shows. There is altogether way too much reality TV on and it's mindless idiotic crap. I don't watch any of it. More reality tv for ABC and I won't even tune into the network at all. Brian Frons, I hope someone takes something of importance in your life.
Looks like General may be bitting the dust too. Just read on line that Katie Couric is going to have a talk show if she signs with ABC and they will put her new show on in the General Hospital time slot. ABC sucks. I do not watch anything other the OLTL and GH and when they are gone so am I!
it makes me sick. i heard that the soap net channel is canceled also. i hope i heard wrong. i would love to see Oprah's OWN channel take them over. her channel needs the boost for sure, and she is such a soap fan AMC esp. i would have loved to be able to see the soaps i watched for years start over at the beginnig on the soap net channel, and still have our new episodes also. i would just love to relive those story lines and see the characters that we lost, again. would love to see Meridith Vicki's sister, Larry the cool doc., and Brook when she first came to town. to see Phebie again, and of coarse all the rest of the family and families from all the other shows. this is what would make soap net great!!!!!!!!!
