Sebastian Roché Born to Be Bad Onscreen

Sebastian Roché may excel at playing GENERAL HOSPITAL’s charming bad guy Jerry Jacks, but he’s been getting some good roles (as bad guys) when he ventures away from Port Charles.Soap Opera Weekly: Sounds like you have some interesting projects in the pipeline.

Sebastian Roché: I have this movie coming out [in February 2010] called Happy Tears, with Demi Moore, and I also just finished doing the new Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson [Oscar-winning director of The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King] movie, so it’s not too shabby. It’s The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn [slated for December 2011].

Weekly: Tintin is a youth who stars in a European adventure comic strip, right?

Roché: It is superfamous. I have all of the [collected] albums, actually. That was a thrill. And all my scenes are with Daniel Craig, so I’m doing scenes with James Bond himself!

Weekly: So you played a guy who got killed by Jack Bauer on 24 earlier this season, and now you’re fighting James Bond?

Roché: Yeah, I know. It’s a lot of action.

Weekly: Who are you playing in the movie?

Roché: I play Pedro, a bad guy (laughs). That was fun; it was such a thrill to be working with Steven Spielberg. The man is a legend, and he’s giving me instructions and talking to me and joking! He’s just a wonderful, wonderful man. The atmosphere on the set is so relaxed.

Weekly: It’s an animated feature, right?

Roché: It’s animated, yeah; really well-done, [with] motion-capture [techniques].

Weekly: Well, Spielberg doesn’t exactly skimp on quality.

Roché: Yeah, it’s [animated by] the same people that did (Titanic writer/director) James Cameron‘s upcoming Avatar, so it’s going to be pretty impressive.
