Paul Ryan Timeline Page 5

1988: There were many suspects, but it was Barbara who went on trial for Stenbeck’s death, though many believed she was simply protecting her son, who lied on the stand to try to save her. It didn’t work — Barbara was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Paul went to live with Bob and Kim and began being teased by school bullies over his “relationship” with Emily, even though they were just friends at that point. A fight ensued in which Emily was knocked down and miscarried. Paul blamed himself for his temper. Suddenly, James turned up alive again; Barbara was released. Hal proposed to Babs, but Paul bristled, knowing he would no longer be man of the house. However, he eventually accepted the marriage. Around this time, Andy developed a crush on Tom’s long-lost daughter, Lien, but she fell for a heroic Paul when he helped her out of a jam with some drug-dealing friends. Devastated, Andy turned to the bottle. Barbara started worrying about her son’s darker traits, like his lying and desire to control the lives of others, especially when she saw how jealous he was about Andy and Lien’s continued friendship.
