Betcha its in Maurice Bernard's contract that he's first, and Tony Geary's that he's last.

I just didn't like it. Everyone looked so serious, plus it just seemed like the same opening for me, with the exception of the background was lighter. Same 'ol, same 'ol.....and I agree, why does Sonny have to open the show? I'm so over Maurice Bernard.

You may be right about other types of shows but usually soaps will show the long time, anchor characters first. I like Sam and Jason, but no way should they get billing( if you can call it that) over Edward, Tracy and Monica Quartermaine, or Robin.Perhaps Tony Geary did choose to bring up the rear so that his face is what more people remember, but this is General Hospital and to have Sonny Corinthos as character # 1 in the opening is wrong and a snub to the rest of the crew.

To be honest, I am glad they finally changed the opening, but I don't care much for it. It is actually kind of boring to me. I was disappointed overall. I would liked for it to have been more lively. And why is Matt in the opening. I haven't seen him DO ANYTHING in months. And did they film the opening before they put Scott Reeves on contract, because if they didn't he should have been included.

In all honesty I saw no problem with Sonny being first yes I understand about all the vet actors but seriously when was the last time those actors had a strong story line that actually was interesting. I am thinking that Sonny was first because Sonny is one of the most important characters on there I understand what you are saying but maybe they did it in order of importance of story lines...and I saw it fitting for Luke picture to be last...I was just happy that Epiphany finally got an opening credit..

No way should Sonny be first. It's not the veterans fault that they have no story line and it's a matter of opinion how "important" Sonny is. The show is General Hospital, not General Mob. The new opening is not total garbage. They did manage to remove characters that no longer exist and I kind of like it that they give both sets of names for the characters. If you are new to the show or don't watch the occasional closing credits, you have no idea who is who.As for Luke being last, in regular programming, last is usually for the big talent. I think that Luke qualifies.

I agree with you on Toney /Luke being last.I'm glad they changed it, but its not anything special to me. On the old one I loved how Luke /Tony got up & left....thats what Luke does, so I always thought it fit.One thing I like about OLTL's openingis, that it changes. They have 2 or 3 they use...sometines Starr, a kid is first, sometimes its someone else..I like that they change up the order.

Well I guess the writers may deem Sonny to be "important" since he always has a story line and not the vet characters. I was just giving MY OPINION on why I thought Sonny may have been first but I could really care less who is first, last, in the middle it's just the opening of a show who really cares to be honest what really matters is the show....

Well if memory serves me correctly, Luke/Tony has been last in the previous opening montage. In fact, I beleieve he was last and then when they had all the men in tuxes Luke was the one who got up and walked out, again, putting focus on him. I don't see what the big deal is? There are some things I like and don't like from the new opening, I like how they removed actors/characters that are no longer on GH and haven't been for years. I like how they use different backgrounds for every so many characters. Including teh hospital, cityscape, Wyndemere, etc. I like how they incoude the actor and character name adds a litttle something. I don't understand why they put some actors and some not. I mean they could have put all of Sonny's kids together, although then the whole name thing would have gotten a little confusing. Atany rate it is a positive thing that it has been updated, perhaps they just need to tweek it a little more to perfect it, and to benefit them maybe keep up on it? JMHO.

Jason has been on the show longer, He should have been before Sonny.

I am so over Sonny also. As a matter of fact, the only reason I tolerate Carly is because she is with Jax. I need more Alexis, Tracy (Quartermaines, period) and God I wished they would bring back Kate full time. She was the reason I was starting to feel anything even remotely positive about Sonny. And since Steven Webber is back on GH, how about bringing back his mother Heather. Not that crazy throwed off version from a few years ago, the wonderfully manipulative, wicked, shrewd Heather of 25 years ago. Oh, and Lucy Coe. And Felicia, man my wish list is long. Oops, I forgot this was about the opening. I am glad that Tony Geary is the last one. Despite the writers best attempt to make everything revolve around Sonny, the fact of the matter is Luke Spencer is the most recognizable character on GH and he is probably the heart of the show because in my opinion, he is a combination of every character on that show. Even the ones that he hates, and he is or has been connected to almost every character on that show. So yes, it is only fitting that he ends the montage.

I'll admit that I didn't read the whole thread, but you never saw the opening before the revamp? It had Sonny in the front too. So unless you were sleeping....I don't understand how you could possibly be upset over Sonny front and center.

As for someone who grew up watching this show....I think that Jason should have been first, followed but the rest of the Q's, and then Mac and Robin with patrick as an offshoot- is the one who plays Matt a contract actor or does he just come in and out now and then? And Maxie and Splinelli... Then it could maybe be sonny, carly, jax and all the kids and then Alexis and her clan and then to end up with the cassadines and spencers...with Luke last of course since he is the soul of this show....I hate the fact that the older Q's, and Mac only show up now and then now...:(
