ONE LIFE TO LIVE

Monday

Janet was stunned when Todd ripped open her shirt and took the wire off of
her bra. Talia and Antonio sprung from the van outside to Todd's house, and
burst into the room where Todd was interrogating Janet.

Langston nearly got in trouble with Mr. J for talking in class (She was
remarking on how hot he is just loud enough for Markko to hear it). A hush
went over the room as Principal Dickinson entered and grimly announced that
drugs are being sold on school property and reminded everyone of the legal
ramifications. Later, Mr. J tried to start a discussion about drug abuse
then let class out early to let everyone get started on a demanding
assignment. Starr hung around afterward and informed Schuyler that she knows
someone who's using. She asked his advice on how to help a friend who
refuses help. Schuyler explained that she can't make her friend do anything;
he has to seek help himself. Outside, Langston tried to get Cole's attention
but he walked right past her.

Matthew was at the library showing some kids the pills he took from Cole,
who showed up and pulled Matthew aside. Matthew admitted to stealing the
pills, and Cole advised Matthew to stop running his mouth about being on
drugs. Matthew raised his voice and asked why Cole's taking the pills in the
first place, just as the principal approached. She proceeded to question the
two and advised Cole to be a role model for Matthew, then told them to get
back to their studies. Cole took back the pills and stormed out, then
accused Starr of ratting him out. Alone, Schuyler looked at the letter from
his mother once again.

Noelle informed Carlotta of Delphina's troublesome prediction about money,
just as Dorian was relinquishing all her worldly goods to Moe. David was
impressed as she spoke of her quest for inner peace but Moe was speechless.
He reminded Dorian that she must give all these things away permanently and
watched her closely as she tried to convince Moe of her sincerity. Noelle
arrived at La Boulaie and was alarmed to hear that Moe was inheriting the
mansion, while David congratulated Dorian on proving herself. To entice
Noelle into accepting her wealth, Dorian bedecked Noelle with a sparkly
diamond necklace.

Over lunch at the café, Lola told Téa what she remembered about the night
her mother died: Her mother and father were having an argument, her father
tucked her in and kissed her good-night, but she woke up again, went to
their door and saw her father on his knees beside her mother's body. Ray
claimed that an intruder came in and stabbed Lola's mother, than ran off,
but it wasn't until years later that Vanessa and Lola found the knife used
to kill her and Ray was arrested. Speaking of arrests, their conversation
was interrupted by a call from Todd, who was in handcuffs and needed his
lawyer. Téa rushed to Todd's aid and gave Talia and Antonio a hard time
about ambushing Janet on Todd and sent the cops packing without an arrest.
Markko found Lola in tears at the diner and asked if there was anything he
could do. "Just hold me," she pleaded, and he obliged.

Schuyler finally opened the letter, which contained information about her
shady arrangement with Todd.

Tuesday

Blair found Starr rehearsing her testimony for Todd's trial, and informed
her daughter that she allowed Todd to see the boys. Jack, meanwhile,
commented on Dorian's "glow-in-the-dark" outfit, to which Dorian responded
that Jack is becoming more like his father every day. Her lawyer arrived
with papers that would ensure her and David's assets would go to a dummy
corporation that she would have access to. Dorian then ran into Nora on her
way out, and couldn't help but make a few snide remarks before exiting. Nora
went into the living room to speak with Starr and Blair, who were stunned to
learn that Todd's meddling may have indirectly caused Hope's death. Nora
wanted to be able to prove this in court, which would land Todd in jail for
life. The idea of sending her father to prison forever didn't seem to sit
well with Starr. Meanwhile, something Todd said over lunch with Téa gave her
an idea.

After failing to tempt David into leaving town with a suitcase of cash,
Jared resorted to Plan B: dressing up like David and asking him to show
Jared the way of the Buddha. Jared appeared sincere and humble but David saw
through it.

At St. Ann's, Jessica asked Dr. Levin to consider releasing her so she can
go home to her family. He decided to hypnotize her and see if Tess would
come out, but Bess stood guard in Jessica's subconscious. Neither Tess nor
Bess emerged during the hypnosis, which was promising, but Dr. Levin had one
more idea.

While Natalie fussed over baby Chloe at Llanfair, Gigi volunteered to get
more formula from the basement, which Natalie was afraid of. Natalie
privately revealed to Rex that Jessica admitted to wanting her and Jared
dead.

While Jared was trying to convince David of his sincerity, it appeared that
Dorian had the same idea. She walked in and was less than pleased to see
Jared sitting at the table with David. Dorian sent Jared on his way,
reminding him that he's marrying into the Buchanan family and doesn't need
to follow David's path to poverty. She sat down and handed David the papers
stating all of her assets would be transferred to a Buddhist organization,
suggesting that he sign them, too, should he invent something brilliant that
would generate unwelcome capital.

After Jack relayed to Starr what happened when he visited Todd, a
guilt-ridden Starr was surprised to see Téa at the terrace door. Téa tried
to make nice with Starr and announced that Todd tried to commit suicide.
Meanwhile, Blair stormed over to the Buenos Das Caf to give Todd a piece
of her mind about his little delivery-room scam. Todd assured a preoccupied
Blair that Téa would go easy on Starr in the courtroom.

Jared ran into the Llanfair kitchen blabbing about how David didn't fall for
his latest approach, which forced Natalie to explain to Rex and Gigi what's
going on with them and David. Rex and Gigi agreed to keep quiet. Later,
Natalie received a call from Dr. Levin about Jessica's recovery. When the
doc requested that Jessica have a supervised visit with Chloe, Natalie said
she didn't think that was wise.

Wednesday

Natalie asked Viki to back her up on not wanting to take Chloe for a visit
with Jessica. Despite Natalie's protests, Viki made arrangements with the
doctor to bring Chloe to St. Ann's.

Cole thought back to what he overheard John saying about his mom and Wes,
and was about to take a pill at Rodi's when he changed his mind and headed
for the door. John appeared and asked what he was doing there. After they
chatted about how hard it is for Cole to deal with his estrangement from
Marty, Cole heard Gigi call out for Wes and angrily approached the man who's
been "using" his mom. He threw a punch at Wes but John intervened and told
Cole to chill out.

Dorian explained the legal papers once more to David and urged him to sign
them. Rex arrived and commented on Dorian's new look, and was rather amused
to hear that she plans to give up "atman." He sat right down and began
probing David about what he would do if came into some money. Dorian coughed
and pretended to be parched so that David would get up for water. David
returned and explained that Dorian's always been on a quest for success,
money, etc. but only now has she found fulfillment. Rex wasn't buying it.

Starr was upset to hear that Todd had tried to kill himself and that no one
had bothered to tell her. Téa tried to sympathize with Starr, who was still
dwelling on the discovery that Todd paid a nurse to take her baby. Back at
the diner, Blair informed Todd that she knows he paid Janet not to take the
child to the NICU. Téa turned on the waterworks as she assured Starr that
Todd's suicide attempt wasn't her fault (which Starr didn't suggest in the
first place). She revealed that Todd asked her not to cross-examine Starr,
suggesting that he would rather go to jail than see his daughter suffer for
mere minutes. When Téa finally sensed that she got what she came for, she
left Starr alone with her thoughts. Starr immediately tried to call Cole,
who ignored his phone and popped another pill.

Jessica was nervous as she waited for Viki and Chloe. When they did arrive,
she was thrilled to see the baby after so many weeks, but expressed her
disappointment that she doesn't look much like Nash. Viki asked to speak
privately with the doctor to express her concern about Jessica's inability
to remember the night of Chloe's birth. The doctor assured Viki that his
successful hypnosis was a positive sign for Jessica's recovery and announced
that Jess is ready to be released. Meanwhile, Jared called Natalie out on
being too protective of Jessica's children but agreed to stay at Llanfair as
long as they need to.

When John returned to Cole's table and asked if he still wanted to talk,
Cole got up and said there was nothing to talk about. Rex arrived and
informed Gigi that Dorian's up to something with David. Meanwhile, David
proposed that he and Dorian walk to the top of Llantano Mountain. Téa
returned from La Boulaie and told Todd she's taken care of one of their
problems and must deal with Lee Halpern next. Starr rushed to Mr. J's
classroom for comfort and threw her arms around the teacher.

Thursday

While prepping for trial at the courthouse, Nora dozed off and dreamt that she was the one being hauled off to prison. Meanwhile, Cole watched from afar as Todd and Téa celebrated her latest victory with chipped beef. Téa came up with a plan to reveal Janet's shady past in The Sun the next day. Cole approached their table and got in Todd and Téa's faces with veiled threats before meeting with his dealer. He became even more agitated when Asher explained that he has nothing on him and refused to give Cole his supplier's name.

Talia set up Janet at a safe house, but Janet was jumpy and afraid that Todd would find her. Bo arrived with food and Marty, who coldly stared down Janet as she approached. Janet was apologetic, but Marty didn't want to hear it. She reamed out Janet for standing by and letting Todd take advantage of her, then went to Rodi's to meet up with Wes.

Brody showed up at Jessica's room to find her packing and asked if she was sure she's ready to go. After she explained how she's feeling about her recovery, Jess finished packing and gave Brody a gift. Inside a Logan's bag was a new football. Jessica asked that he call her when he's released.

Starr went running to Schuyler with the news that her dad tried to commit suicide and she's rethinking her testimony. She explained that she didn't want her father to feel so sad and alone that he considers taking his own life again. Schuyler seemed relieved to hear that they would not discuss his mother at the trial. When Starr was gone, he finished reading his mother's tell-all letter, which included mention of Schuyler stealing drugs from the hospital.

Nora continued to prepare her opening statements, while Cole sat alone at the diner itching for another fix. The next morning, the real trial got underway. Nora depicted Todd as a kidnapping rapist, while Téa argued that the case is more about a "personal vendetta" than justice. Meanwhile, Janet saw the terrible headline on the front page of The Sun: "Janet Ka-Ching Ketring." When Nora eyed the newspaper during recess, she accused Todd and Téa of jury tampering and asked the judge to remove Téa from the case. The judge turned down her request, and Antonio was the first to be called to the stand. He testified that several baby-related items were confiscated from Todd's home, which Téa claimed were for orphans.

Starr was called to the stand next but she clearly wasn't ready to tell her story. She was teary-eyed and frozen as Nora asked her to talk about Todd's confession to her and if he'd detailed his plan to kidnap her baby. Meanwhile, Janet knocked out Talia with a vase at the safe house.

Friday

Nora asked Starr once again if it was her father's intention to kidnap her baby. Starr stared at Todd and was silent for a minute, then shocked everyone by responding, "No." Cole went into a rage and pushed a chair, accusing her of lying. Nora reminded Starr that if she changes her earlier testimony, she's committing perjury. Starr recalled the day she went to visit her father in the hospital and how hard it was to confront him because he's her father. She flashed back to people saying various things about her father's emotional state. Under oath, she lied that Todd wasn't going to steal her baby. Nora was confused and sensed that Téa had a hand in this. Starr claimed that it was only something she'd heard and that he refuted the story later on. Todd turned to Téa and asked if he said something to Starr. The judge called a recess.

Wes showed up at St. Ann's with a nice shiner, courtesy of Cole, and could tell that Brody was bummed. Brody revealed that Jessica had been released and he was just concerned about her. Wes showed Brody the newspaper article about Janet/Lee and referred to her as the "bitch who ruined [his] family." Meanwhile, Janet left Talia unconscious and muttered to herself that she should have never come back to Llanview. Antonio stepped out of Todd's trial to phone Talia. When he couldn't get in touch with her, he headed straight to the safe house and busted in to find Talia on the floor.

Before setting foot in Llanfair, Jessica expressed her anxiety about seeing Natalie to her parents. Inside, she was thrilled to see baby Chloe, and Natalie walked in holding Bree's hand and didn't look pleased. The little girl was scared of Jessica and stood close to her aunt. Jessica picked up Chloe and thanked Charlie for helping Natalie and Jared when they were in trouble. Natalie pointed out that they were in danger because Jessica wanted to kill them. When Jessica tried to approach her older daughter again, Bree clung to Natalie and asked Nat to read to her (awkward!). When Natalie and Bree were out of the room, Charlie gave Jessica a pep talk about integrating herself back into the family. Later, Natalie dumped on Jessica for her actions and insisted that she's a better mother to Chloe and Bree than Jessica may ever be. Viki walked in and told Natalie to stop speaking to her sister that way.

Marcie showed up at Hope's grave and was surprised to see Michael standing behind her. They both confessed that they never stopped loving each other.

The trial went into recess, and Nora learned the bad news that her key witness had escaped. Marty reminded Nora that they still have her testimony. Cole saw Schuyler in the hall and told him he doesn't belong there. Schuyler got a phone call from someone summoning him. Starr ran away to the cemetery and cried as she knelt over Hope's grave. She explained to Hope that she has to protect her father, which Cole overheard.

Nora told John that Lee Halpern escaped. The scene jumped to three hours earlier: Téa walked into Todd's house to find him with a bloody knife — and Lee's corpse next to him.
