One Life To Live Recaps
OLTL Week of May 24, 2010
Monday
Penny, having snuck Otto's box out of the store while her father was asleep, brought it to Rex and Gigi. Spotting a postcard of Willow Peak, the couple decided to head over there.
Layla and Cristian were about to leave for Silver Spring to tell her mom about their engagement when Markko rushed into the diner and told them he couldn't go back to the apartment because Langston had been cheating on him with Ford. "I walked in on them," a furious Markko admitted, adding that he now has to be tested for every STD and beg his parents to let him move back in with them. After smashing dishes on the floor, Markko started to cry, recalling all the times that Ford had jerked him around. "I hate the son of a bitch," Markko raged. Layla had a big hug for Cris, then said she wanted to kick Ford out of their apartment. "Tomorrow that bastard's mine," she snarled.
Langston came back to the apartment and gazed at a photo of her and Markko. Starr woke up and told Langston that Cole showed up at the prom. On the brink of tears, Langston told her BFF that she had lost Markko because he'd found out about her affair with Ford. When Starr tried to assure her that Markko still loves her and that everything would work out, Langston admitted that the affair with Ford hadn't stopped. "It was never over," she cried. Langston hadn't thought Starr would understand. "You are right. I don't," a horrified Starr replied. Langston added that she was lying to herself as well — she had been afraid to face Markko and shouldn't have taken advantage of Starr and Cole's friendship. "Ford doesn't want me, either," Langston added. Loyal Starr promised she wasn't going anywhere.
Clint showed up at Viki's late at night, asking for Jessica, since she hadn't returned home. Viki headed upstairs to check, but neither Jessica nor Natalie were in their rooms. In fact, Jessica showed up at Brody's door. "I remember all of it," she said as she fell in Brody's arms. Jessica rattled off all she remembered about Brody and the two started to kiss. She apologized for the way she'd treated Brody and Bree. "You weren't yourself," Brody soothed, then asked her what jump-started her memory. She remembered she had been in bed with Ford, but didn't share that tidbit with Brody. Just then a worried Viki called Brody, who put Jess on the phone. Jessica and Brody went to Viki's house and ran into Viki's arms. Bree embraced her mom. Jessica wondered where Natalie was as a guilty Brody recalled their night of passion.
John and Natalie came face to face at the airport. "Sorry I'm late," John said, explaining that he'd read the letter and had something to say. Natalie admitted she had seen John and Marty kissing and had assumed John chose Marty. That was a goodbye kiss, said John, admitting that he and Marty had just been together because of the baby. "You belong with me," John said firmly. Natalie asked him to repeat that and her eyes filled up with tears. The couple kissed, and everyone in the airport applauded. John wondered why Natalie had been so late; she didn't mention having sex with Brody. John offered to drive Natalie home because Marty was still at his place.
A badly beaten up Ford lay in bed. Seconds later Markko was seen washing something red (okay, probably blood) off of his hands.
Tuesday
Layla and Cristian decided to hold off on going to Layla's mom to tell her about their engagement. Back at their apartment, they walked into Ford's room to find him beaten up and bloody in bed. Cris called 911; the EMTs found a pulse and rushed him to the ER.
Jessica had a big hug for Natalie and shared the great news — her memory was back! Natalie told her twin that she'd had a pretty interesting night as well: she and John had reunited. "That's wonderful," Jessica smiled. Brody came by to pick up Jessica for breakfast and Nat let it slip that she had seen Brody the night before. Oops. Brody smiled awkwardly as Natalie lied that she had dropped by to say goodbye to Brody before heading to the airport. When Jessica left the room, Brody and Natalie agreed that their night together would never have happened if they'd known they'd be reunited with their true loves. When Jessica, Natalie asked what triggered her memories. Jessica flashed back to being in bed with Ford, then remembering Mitch. The memories just came back, Jessica fibbed, then asked Natalie to tell her "everything that happened last night. Every single detail."
John returned home to find Marty packing up her things. He apologized for how things had turned out Marty wasn't angry. "Life's too short," she said philosophically. They agreed they would be always be sorry they didn't have that child together, then John carried her suitcase to the door.
John and Brody both got calls about Ford's brutal attack and arrived at the scene of the crime. John found one of Ford's awards in his bed and figured that was the murder weapon. Asked if they could think of anyone who would want to see Ford dead, Cris told John that Markko was angry at Ford, and Layla added that Ford and Langston had been "fooling around." Markko was pretty freaked out, said Cris, but added that he didn't think Markko could do it. John told Brody to start interviewing people and create a timeline.
Markko was in the ER and tried to explain how his hand was hurt. "How's the other guy?" the doctor on duty asked. As Ford was rushed into the ER and Markko saw the doctors start working on him, he remembered washing blood off his hands.
When Blair took Tea for her first radiation treatment, Tea tried to convince Blair that her main concern was keeping Todd out of prison. Blair said she'd tag a long with Tea to make sure she didn't faint in the courtroom.
Starr met up with Todd at the courthouse and told her dad that she thought Hannah had pushed Marty. Todd agreed. Starr hoped that Téa would help them prove that Hannah was guilty. When Blair and Téa arrived in the courtroom, Blair made it clear to Todd that she was there for Starr.
Téa thought the Hannah-pushed-Marty theory was "a long shot." When Todd asked Téa why she seemed so tired, Téa lied that she just needed sleep, and showed Todd a photo of Dani. After Téa asked Blair to leave the courtroom, Marty showed up. Starr thanked her for helping Cole come to the prom, then begged Marty to consider the possibility that Hannah was the one who'd hurt Marty.
Langston began to cry as she told Dorian that she'd broken up with Markko. "I cheated on him," Langston confessed. Dorian said it was only natural that Langston would have curiosity about "other possibilities." Langston added that she thought she was in love with the other man. "What have I done?" Langston wept. Dorian was furious when she learned that Langston had had an affair with a grown man. "He should know better," Dorian fumed. Upon learning that Ford was the man who'd slept with Langston, she observed, "Well he's a dead man now." Nobody forced her to cheat, admitted Langston. After Dorian left, Langston read a text message from Ford that said, "love u." Frantic, Langston called Blair and begged her to come over, then fell into Blair's arms weeping. "I did something terrible last night," Langston confessed.
Wednesday
When Téa asked that all the charges against Todd be dropped, Nora objected big time. Téa reminded the court that Marty had had two arguments the night of her fall, with Natalie and Todd. She added that Marty had accused Natalie of pushing her before pinning the blame on Todd. Nora brought up Hannah, at which point Starr jumped up to say Hannah was indeed lying to break Cole and her up. Téa told the judge that Hannah was mentally unstable, but Nora demanded proof on that. Perhaps Marty fell, and wasn't pushed at all, suggested Téa. Todd said "good work" to Téa and hinted that perhaps there could be a "three of us" in the future. Moments later, he told her she looked like "death on toast." Gee thanks, Todd.
The judge ruled that the prosecution had proved enough for a trial, and set bail for $2 million. Todd got a call saying Hannah was missing. He wasn't sure if that was good or bad news for him.
A frightened Markko learned that Ford was going into emergency surgery. Cris showed up at the hospital and told Markko that he and Layla had to tell the police about how mad Markko had been at Ford. He urged Markko to get a lawyer and go home — he was looking mighty guilty with that bandaged hand. Markko ran into John as he got on the elevator.
In a deserted cabin, Rex and Gigi found notes written to Lily from Rick. Rex and Gigi wondered if those were Rex's parents. In a flashback, viewers saw Lily (who looked like Gigi) sell the two necklaces to Rick (Rex). Rex read aloud Rick's romantic letters, which described how Rick had to leave Lily to help his father pay back a big loan. "I can't sleep without you," Lily said as she kissed Rick goodbye and gave Rick half of her necklace. Later, when a pregnant Lily got a letter from Rick saying he had fallen in love with someone else, she began to weep. Gigi thought there was something odd about Rick's final letter.
Langston told Blair all about her affair with Ford and that she had caught him with the pizza girl. "Ford is going to get what's coming to him," Blair steamed. "He already has," was Langston's cryptic reply.
At Ford's apartment, John told Dorian that Langston had been cheating with Ford. Dorian jumped to Langston's defense. John made it clear to Dorian that Langston would be brought in for questioning. Dorian returned to Langston's apartment and asked Langston if she attacked Ford.
Jessica apologized to Natalie about the way she had treated her while she was a "teen." Natalie told Jessica all about the letter she had written John. Roxy barged in and learned about the reconciliation with John, and Jessica regaining her memory. If it had been her in Natalie's situation (seeing John and Marty kiss), she would have jumped all over the next guy she saw, said Roxy, unaware that Natalie had bedded Brody on the rebound. Then Roxy asked Jessica how she got her memory back and thought it might have been Brody. Jessica was uncomfortable thinking about her regrettable night with Ford. "The memories came back later," Jessica admitted. "There are parts of last night that I would rather forget," she added. Roxy thought something was off with Natalie. Jessica turned on the TV and heard a news report about the brutal beating of Robert Ford.
Thursday
Jessica heard the news about Ford's beating and panicked that she might have done it. She felt bad about all the mean things she had done to people while she was a "teen," Jess told her mom. "Nothing bad did happen to anyone," Viki assured her, remembered pushing Ford away in bed and screaming "get away Mitch."
Dorian told Langston that what ever she did to Ford he deserved. Detective Price showed up at the door looking for Markko. "This isn't his fault," Langston said. Dorian got rid of the detective, then begged Langston to tell her what happened with Ford. Langston related the evening's argument, and said she headed back to Ford's apartment later but didn't go back in because she didn't want to hear Ford tell her he never cared about her. Langston ran into her room and Dorian placed a call. Shortly after, Eli showed up. "You think I did it," Langston said to Dorian when she saw the lawyer in her living room.
On his way out of the hospital Markko ran into John, who wanted to know what happened to his hand. Although Markko claimed he banged his hand on a wall, the doctor told John that injuries like Markko's usually are the result of a fight. "Markko, who did you hit?" John asked. Markko denied punching anyone at first, then copped to hitting Ford. When John wanted to hear about the connection between Ford and Langston, an angry Markko related how he had found Ford with Langston. Detective Price showed up and told John that Langston had lawyered up. Markko explained to John that he had slept on a cot at the diner. "Cris and Layla saw me. They could vouch for me," he added. Markko denied having gone back to Ford's to confront him. Although he remembered washing blood off his hands, Markko told John that the last time he saw Ford was when he was rushed into the ER. Markko was free to go. Jessica overheard John and Detective Price say that they would find who tried to kill Ford.
Gigi thought there was something more to Rick's "Dear Lily" letter dumping her. Flashback 30 years ago: Pete intercepted Lily's letter and was forcing Rick to date his daughter. Rick wanted out, but Pete made Rick to write that letter, telling him that he had to marry his (Pete's) daughter or he'd kill Rick's father. "None of this is true," Rick protested. "Sign it," Pete demanded. Rick looked at the necklace Lily had given him. Back home, Lily didn't believe that that letter was true and began to cry.
Rex agreed with Gigi that there had to be more to that story. Otto charged into the cabin. "I knew I'd find you here," he said. Angry that Rex and Gigi had read the letters, Otto refused to answer any of their questions at first. "It was a long time ago," Otto said sadly ...then confirmed that they were Rex's parents. During Lily's pregnancy, Otto apparently had taken a call from Rick and didn't give Lily the real message. Instead, he lied that Rick had said he didn't want to see Lily again, because Otto had been in love with Lily himself. Rick came back for Lily, but Lily barged into Pete's office demanding to see Rick, Pete told her that Rick was dead. He had dumped his body in the Pine Barrens. Moments after Lily left the office, Rick appeared in Pete's office.
Otto explained that Lily came home from Atlantic City without the baby and that Rick and Lily never saw each other again. When Rick came back to find Lily, Otto showed Rick her grave. He explained that Lily had tried to find her son but couldn't. Otto (in the past) told Rick that he thought their son was probably dead.
Rex saw his mother's grave. "But I'm not dead," Rex declared. Gigi wondered what had happened to Rick. Otto had never heard from him again. Otto was sorry that all that had happened. "Well, now we know," Gigi said sadly. Rex imagined his mother leaving him at a hospital. "I can't go on without your daddy," she said sadly as she left her necklace with the baby. "She loved you Rex," Gigi assured him. "I know," Rex said as he knelt by the grave and left his part of the necklace there. "Let's go home," he said. The wind blew and viewers saw the complete necklace on the stone by the grave.
Kelly had taken over Todd's office when Todd waltzed into the office, happy he was out on bail. Kelly was working on a story about the Ford attack. "McBain can't blame that on me," Todd said, then wondered where Hannah was. Kelly thought the police might have her. A bouquet of flowers were delivered to Kelly from Reed. Kelly wondered if Todd was jealous; Todd thought she should dump him. Kelly headed to the hospital to check on the Ford situation.
Friday
Starr visited Cole in prison. He was glad to see her. Cole knew that Todd was out on bail and wasn't happy about it. Starr still insisted that Todd was not guilty. Starr told Cole about the Langston and Ford affair. She assured Cole that the relationship was really over now and that Ford broke up with Langston. Cole was disgusted and kept harping on the fact that since Starr believed Langston's lies, she could also be wrong about Todd.
Langston denied that she had done anything wrong regarding Ford. Eli reminded Dorian and Langston that it was what the police think that matters. He added that the cops would look at her as a suspect. Eli suggested that Langston go to the police station to make a statement. Dorian didn't think it was a great idea. Langston reminded her mother that it was her life and she wanted to do it.
At the precinct, John said there was a partial footprint found at the crime scene. The pizza girl, Karen, was brought in for questioning. She explained she was one of Ford's friends with benefits. John told her that Ford was in surgery. She panicked and gasped, "Wait, you think I did this?" Karen thought they should question Langston, who walked into John's office with Eli. Eli said that Langston was there to make a statement. Langston said that the last time she saw Ford was the night before. "It was just a big mess," she explained. John wanted to ask questions, but Eli repeated that it would only be a statement and then took the ladies away. Eli added that they would cooperate with the investigation. Back at Langston's, Dorian saw that the place had been ransacked. She desperately tried to get the commissioner on the phone. Langston stayed at the apartment to clean up. Dorian gave her daughter a hug before she and Eli left.
Markko washed his hands and thought he saw blood again. Fortunately, the red came from Carlotta's spilled beets. Ta said she had a lot on her plate, but agreed to take his case. Markko explained the whole Langston/Ford affair. He said that he had hit Ford pretty hard after he walked in on Langston and Ford kissing. He added that Langston had broken up the fight and that Ford was fine when he left. Ta assured Markko that he did the right thing coming to her. Markko admitted he had lied to the police and confessed that he had gone back to Ford's place. "I was so angry," he remembered. At that moment, Langston walked into the diner and their eyes met. Brody showed up and said he was there to arrest Markko. They had found bloodied shoes — allegedly Markko's — in the Dumpster in back of the diner. Langston looked horrified.
Brody asked Jessica why she was at the hospital. Jessica didn't tell him she was trying to get the update on Ford's condition. Jessica said she was there doing a follow up with Marty. Brody said he was still investigating the Ford case. "Do you know him?" Brody asked. Cris joined them and thought one of the much younger women Ford had taken advantage off probably "snapped." Jessica looked pale. John called Brody and said they had gotten a warrant to search the apartment.
Jessica began to apologize to Cris and he said he was just glad she was back to normal. Cris wondered if seeing him propose to Layla triggered her memory. Jessica danced around that question, as she wasn't about to tell Cris she had been in bed with Ford.
Hannah was brought to Todd's office in a burlap bag. Todd's guys assured him that no one saw them. Todd sat down to question Hannah, who immediately spat on him. Hannah screamed for help, but Todd just laughed. Todd told Hannah that she pushed Marty down the stairs "and now you are trying to pin it on me." He wanted Hannah to confess to pushing Marty and then threatened her. One of Todd's employees came in and ignored Hannah's cry. He showed Todd the photo of a bloodied Ford. Hannah was stunned. Todd asked her if she knew "that guy." Hannah didn't respond.
