One Life To Live Recaps
OLTL Week of March 9, 2009
Monday
Gigi and Shane were headed back to the carriage house to pick up his meds when Cole started to nod off behind the wheel and veered right toward them. Luckily, Gigi's air bag inflated, and she and Shane survived with a few
minor scrapes. Meanwhile, Marty and John witnessed the crash from afar. John ran right over to help Gigi, while Marty found her son lying next to the other vehicle. As she knelt down to check out the situation, she suddenly had a memory of holding Cole as a toddler. "Let me die," begged Cole, whose leg was pinned beneath the wreck. "Not a chance," Marty uttered. She pushed her back up against the vehicle and summoned all her strength to lift it, then screamed out for John to help save Cole. John and a medical team
arrived in time to remove Cole from the site, and Marty was relieved of her back-breaking duty. Cole begged his mother to stay by his side, then passed out. Marty noticed that he wasn't breathing and cried out that he was overdosing. The paramedics gave him a shot that jumpstarted his breathing and led him to the ambulance. Marty held onto John as she asked herself why it took her so long to start to love him.
Dorian ran alongside Blair's stretcher as she was wheeled into the ER. She insisted that Todd stay far away from Blair and Bo to arrest him. Bo pulled Todd aside and asked him for a brief recap of what happened. Meanwhile, Michael performed emergency surgery on Blair, while Dorian urged her unconscious niece to come out of this for her children's sake. Bo was called to the car accident after hearing that Shane and Gigi were involved, and left Talia to handle Todd and the stabbing.
While Starr was leaving a nasty message for Cole, Schuyler came up behind Starr and asked what she's still doing at the school. He advised Starr to start calling him Mr. Joplin and get it through her head that he is her
teacher and nothing more. Todd phoned, interrupting their conversation to let Starr know about her mom.
Back at the carriage house, Rex downed Stacy's tainted beer as Stacy bombarded him with questions about his and Gigi's relationship. She wanted to know if he cheated on his wife with Gigi, but Rex assured her that it wasn't like that. Stacy asked Rex if he's certain that he and Gigi are "the real deal." Rex's eyelids fluttered and he started to get dizzy as he spoke of his and Gigi's true love. Rex was confused as to how he could have gotten
so wasted. "Drink up," Stacy advised, continuing to question him. Rex's phone began to buzz as Gigi called to let him know about the accident, while Stacy further confused Rex by insisting that Adriana was "the one." Rex could hardly string a sentence together as he watched Stacy's face blur before him. She asked if he remembers when they first met, recalling that he helped her out of a jam in grade school. Suddenly she was stripping in front of him. "Don't tell your sister I went to a strip club," an intoxicated Rex said before passing out. Gigi phoned again, and Stacy tossed the phone aside.
Cole was rushed to the hospital to have his stomach pumped, while Shane and Gigi waited to be seen by a doctor. Marty lovingly assured Cole that he's going to be fine. John waited in the hallway, where he was confronted by an upset Dorian. When she mentioned that she was so worried about Blair, John didn't know what she was talking about. Bo headed to the crash site and was puzzled to find Matthew's hat on the ground, just as Cole whispered to Marty that Matthew was in the car with him.
Tuesday
Bo called out desperately for Matthew, who whispered "Dad" from afar. Back at the hospital, Marty was confused by Cole's claim that Matthew was in the car with him. Marty ran out to the hallway and phoned the police about Matthew. Starr was frantic when she heard that Cole had been in an accident. Finally, Bo heard Matthew's cries and rushed over to him. Luckily, Matthew was breathing and alert. Bo called for another ambulance and stayed with his son. Matthew caught his dad up on what happened at the dance, and Bo was so sorry that he suggested Matthew make a move on Becca.
Dorian informed John that Blair was attacked and stabbed. Starr arrived and asked to see her mother. When John heard that Todd had been at Blair's before Dorian got there, he went running straight to the holding area where Todd was and grabbed him by the collar. "Did you do this to her?" John screamed. Dorian held Starr back and explained that she found Todd standing over Blair after she was stabbed. Dorian assumed that Todd was Blair's attacker, but Todd insisted to John that he didn't stab Blair.
Rex briefly woke up to see Stacy practically naked before him. When her phone began to ring and she saw that it was Gigi calling, she put it back down and tried to hurry Rex upstairs. Gigi decided to just take a cab home since no one was responding to her calls. Stacy helped a woozy Rex out of his clothes and pushed him onto the bed. She started to talk about how she's been in love with Rex since the day she met him. "Should have been me," she said, gazing at a photo of Rex with Gigi. She continued, suggesting that that he never really wanted Gigi because he didn't go back to Michigan for her. She explained that she wore the red dress at the ball because she knew it would catch his eye. Rex was completely out of it and heard nothing she said.
Starr ran straight to Cole's hospital room after hearing about the accident. She assured him that Matthew was on his way and is alive. Just as Starr was apologizing for what happened earlier, Marty walked in and informed Cole that Matthew is okay. Marty was shocked to hear that Blair had been stabbed and Dorian thinks Todd did it. Despite Dorian's warnings, Starr went to confront her father about the stabbing. Todd was upset that Starr even had to ask whether he stabbed Blair and claimed that he found Blair unconscious at the bottom of the shower. Neither of them had any idea who would want to kill Blair. Starr accepted a comforting hug from her father when she told him that Cole was in a car accident. Meanwhile, it occurred to Dorian that she knows who stabbed Blair — and it wasn't Todd.
Marty apologized to Cole for not being there for him, but confessed that she remembered loving him as a child and will never leave him again. Cole said he was sorry for driving under the influence.
As Bo was standing by Matthew while the paramedics attended to him, Nora called in a tizzy over not hearing from their son. He told her to meet them at the hospital, and soon all three were waiting together for Matt to see the doctor. Michael finally arrived and began to examine Matthew as Nora and Bo anxiously looked on. As Michael untied his shoelaces and tapped on Matthew's legs, Bo watched with fear upon realizing that Matthew had no feeling there.
Outside the carriage house, Shane and Gigi reviewed what they were going to tell Rex. When Gigi saw the clothes strewn about the floor, empty beer bottles and a pizza box, she started to panic. Gigi instructed Shane to get his butt to bed and stop asking questions. Stacy crawled on top of Rex and put his hands around her waist just as Gigi walked in on the incriminating scene.
Wednesday
Gigi walked in on Stacy lying on top of her sleeping boyfriend. Although she was well aware that Gigi had entered the room, Stacy pretended to be startled when Gigi cried, "Oh, my God!" Gigi demanded to know what was going on, while Rex sleepily said, "Hey, Morasco. What's up?" Gigi was furious, and Rex was completely confused. Stacy lied that Rex came onto her after he had too many beers and requested a lap dance. She went on to claim that Rex admitted to not even being sure Gigi's "the one." Rex refuted everything Gigi said, and swore up and down that Gigi is the only woman for him. Gigi was bewildered by their conflicting statements but had a feeling this reeked of Stacy.
Dorian reluctantly told John that she thinks it wasn't Todd who stabbed Blair, but Ray. Meanwhile, Moe and Noelle held down the fort at La Boulaie, which was crawling with cops. Langston was horrified to hear what happened and phoned Dorian to ask if Blair's okay. Dorian advised Langston to stay away from "that monster," referring to Ray. She rushed straight home and demanded that the officers arrest Ray, based on his criminal history. Moe explained to Dorian that they all gave statements on where they were when Blair was stabbed, including Ray, who was helping Moe make tamales. Dorian didn't want to believe them at first, but accepted that Ray was not a murderer when he expressed his genuine wish for Blair to recover.
Michael asked Matthew to tell him what he's feeling as Michael tapped his bare feet with a pin. "Feel what?" Matthew asked, to Nora and Bo's alarm. Matthew thought his legs might have fallen asleep, but Michael's face conveyed his concern that something far worse is going on. Michael pulled Nora and Bo into the hallway and said it's possible that Mattew suffered a spinal cord injury and depending on its severity, he could be paralyzed from the waist down. He advised Matthew's parents to just wait for Matthew to get some additional tests before they panic. While Nora was later filling out some paperwork, she was approached by Marty, who dropped the bombshell that it wasn't a simple accident: Cole was doing drugs.
In the waiting room where Todd was being detained by police, Starr revealed that she knew all about his instructions to Dr. Joplin because of Schuyler's letter. Michael arrived to inform Starr that Blair is in a medically-induced coma so that she can rest from the operation. Starr went to see her mother and tearfully begged her not to die. John informed the police of Dorian's statement, and they agreed to release Todd.
Marty stopped Cole from getting out of his hospital bed to find Matthew. When Cole was alone, he listened to Starr's angry voicemail, in which she said she doesn't care what happens to Cole anymore. After hearing that Cole was on drugs when he drove with Matthew in the car, Nora stormed into Cole's room yelling that because of Cole, Matthew can't feel his legs right now. Cole sobbed as Nora grabbed him by the collar and yelled in his face.
Dorian brought Markko and Langston to the hospital and left them with Starr while she went to check on Blair. John sat by Blair's side and apologized for leaving her. He kissed her hand and promised to make it up to her. The teens saw Matthew on a stretcher and were disturbed to hear what happened after the dance. Nora walked out and overheard the kids talking about Cole's drug problem. "You knew Cole was doing drugs and you didn't say anything?" Nora cried, kicking off another rampage. Bo overheard her yelling and pulled her aside. Nora revealed what she learned about Cole. Within minutes, Talia and her new partner arrived at Cole's door to arrest him for reckless endangerment.
Gigi told Stacy to put on her clothes and get out, then tearfully recounted her horrible night to Rex. He assured Gigi that he only had one beer and he has no idea what happened after that, but he did definitely not come onto Stacy. Despite the mix-up, she crawled into bed with Rex, facing away from him.
Thursday
At the carriage house, Shane gleefully regaled Aunt Stacy with his tale of the accident. When Gigi wondered where Rex was, Stacy suggested he left because he was too embarrassed about getting drunk and groped his girlfriend's sister. Rex came rushing in and shared his theory that Stacy slipped him a Mickey Finn, which she naturally denied. In an attempt to prove it, Rex revealed that he'd just gotten a blood test, which seemed to comfort Gigi.
Jessica visited Brody, who was in an abnormally cheery mood. After hearing about the accident, Brody phoned Shane and Gigi to make sure they were okay. Shane was thrilled to hear from his former fake dad, who told Shane he's glad to hear he's all right. Then, Brody shared his good news with Jessica: He's getting out of St. Ann's! Brody credited her with helping him get back to normal. Brody asked if she still feels distanced from Chloe, but she was
happy to report that she feels more of a bond with her daughter.
At the hospital, Marcie asked Michael if Cole had been drinking and driving, but Michael wouldn't say. Michael had to run and absentmindedly left Cole's chart behind. Marcie glanced at it, and pointed out to the nurse the Cole is RH positive ‹ which is the reason Starr's baby supposedly died ‹ so his chart must be wrong. The nurse told Marcie to mind her own business and took off with the folder.
Meanwhile, Jared and Natalie went over what they know so far about the night Chloe was born and wondered what reason Bess would have to go to the hospital. They had a feeling something bad had happened, but did they really want to know what it was? While desperately looking for Michael, Marcie ran into Natalie and Jared and told them what she saw on the chart. She painfully recalled the hour in which Starr's daughter was born and was suddenly gone. When she mentioned that Dr. Joplin let her say good-bye to the infant in her office, Natalie's curiosity was piqued. She asked Marcie if she's sure the baby died within the 8 o'clock hour. When they heard there was no record of Starr's baby being admitted to the NICU and that Starr wears a lock of the tot's hair in a locket, Natalie and Jared's eyes widened.
Roxy pestered Schuyler with her thoughts on current events such as Blair's stabbing and Cole's accident. Starr, meanwhile, asked John if he believes her father tried to kill Blair. John said he didn't know and all he wants is the truth. Starr admitted that she knew Cole was doing drugs but she felt terrible telling on him. John told her not to worry, that it's not her fault. Starr was surprised to receive a phone call from Schuyler, who asked how she was doing after the accident. Schuyler said he hopes this is Cole's wake-up call. Even though he's facing suspension, Schuyler said he wouldn't
be calling Starr again.
After Brody got his walking papers, Jessica asked if he'd like to stay at Llanfair. Brody wasn't sure it was a good idea to stay so close to Shane and his ex, so he said he'd fine somewhere else to crash.
After noticing something about the stabbing victims, John phoned an old Navy friend to ask about the motto on Wes's tattoo, which as it turned out, included an extraneous "A". He went over the photos, and muttered to himself, "A ... D ... A."
Gigi insisted that Shane go to school, leaving Rex, Stacy and Gigi to hash things out. Rex sincerely apologized to Gigi for what she saw, but asserted that it's not what she thinks. Rex headed back to the hospital to check on the results. Just as Gigi was chewing her sister out, Rex phoned and beckoned Gigi to the hospital. Gigi told Stacy to be gone when she gets back. Back at the hospital, Michael repeated, "I'm so sorry" to Rex. Gigi arrived as soon as she could, and was horrified to hear that Shane has leukemia.
Friday
Jessica was disturbed when Roxy showed Brody the only available room at the hotel: Wes's room. Roxy apologized, saying she didn't realize Brody was a friend of Wes, but Brody insisted he didn't mind the coincidence. Once Roxy was gone, Brody said he wasn't sure he should stay in Llanview after all.
Schuyler reluctantly agreed to let Stacy stay with him, but only for one or two nights. She admitted that there might have been a misunderstanding concerning Rex, which made Schuyler wonder if Rex is the guy Stacy's always pined over.
Gigi started sobbing as Michael explained the severity of Shane's illness. But he assured Gigi that there is hope, and they should start looking for bone-marrow donors ASAP. Rex held Gigi and promised her they wouldn't lose their son. After she completely freaked out, Gigi called Stacy, who was bickering with Roxy when Rex called her, too. They rushed right over to the hospital, where Rex and Gigi requested that Roxy and Stacy become tested. Michael explained to Gigi that the chances of them finding a donor within the family are slim, but it's way too early to focus on the worst-case scenario. While waiting, Stacy overheard a doctor give a nurse Rex's chart with his blood-work results. Stacy grabbed the folder when no one was looking, saw that it confirmed he was given a sedative, and dumped the file in the trash. In her further wanderings, she overheard Roxy calling the clinic to say she's on her way.
Meanwhile, Matthew asked his mom why the feeling in his legs hadn't returned yet. A specialist explained to Bo and Nora privately that Matthew suffered severe trauma to his spinal cord. Although the cord wasn't severed, the fact that there's no feeling returning after the swelling subsided is concerning. Nora and Bo wondered how they could tell their son that he may never walk again. Clint intervened and vowed to call every specialist there is. When Nora and Bo went to face Matthew, he demanded to be kept in the loop.
Meanwhile, Rex had the difficult task of explaining to Shane that something is wrong with him. Roxy told Rex's mystery dad that their grandson is in big trouble, just as Stacy was lurking outside.
Marcie ran into Starr in the hospital lounge and admitted that she found something on Cole's chart, which made Starr extremely upset. After their run-in with Marcie, Natalie posed a startling question to Jared: What if Bess switched the babies? Jared didn't want to think about such a horrible possibility. Natalie suggested that something very bad must have happened during the birth for Bess to come out and take control. Starr ran to Schuyler for comfort, and Marcie finally tracked down Michael. While Brody was giving Jessica throwing lessons, their eyes met and they shared their first kiss, just as Natalie wondered how she and Jared would tell Jess that her real baby is dead.
