One Life To Live Recaps
OLTL Week of December 8, 2008
Monday
Téa surprised Todd in his prison cell and read aloud from the recent
newspaper articles about him. Téa was particularly stunned that Todd had
admitted he was in love with Marty. Téa asked Todd what had happened with
Blair. "John McBain," Todd replied. "I'm a different man with Marty," he
said noting the surprise in Téa's face. "You really love Marty Saybrooke,"
Téa observed. Téa thought Todd's feelings could be useful in his defense.
Todd refused her offer to defend him in court. "What's the problem Todd,"
she asked. Todd said that everything he was accused of was true. "What's the
big deal about jail if you are already living in hell," he said. "Todd
Manning is giving up," Téa asked incredulously. Téa reminded him that the
Todd she knew never gave up and she didn't think he'd be able to stand life
behind bars.
Viki cooed over little Chloe. Viki didn't want to talk about her
relationship with Charlie and she again apologized to Natalie for not being
there when she was locked up in the basement. Viki claimed she was too busy
with Chloe and Bree to have time to think of Charlie. "I'm just not a great
date," she said. Viki added that she was trying to be fair to Charlie.
Natalie accused her mother of being a big chicken, though Viki did — as her
eyes filled up with Téars — admit that last time she was happy was when she
was "with Charlie." Viki headed out to find him. Jared and Natalie gushed
over baby Chloe delighted that their plan to reunite their parents appeared
to be working. Viki joined Charlie at the café.
Dorian insisted on making Dr. Joplin pay for killing baby Hope. Dorian
placed a call to the hospital and immediately learned that Dr. Joplin was
dead. "I didn't know," she said and quickly hung up the phone. Dorian broke
the news of Dr. Joplin's suicide to Starr. Starr continued to blame herself
for everything regarding baby Hope's death, and then added Dr. Joplin's
suicide to that long list. Cole came by and heard that Hope had died because
his and Starr's blood types clashed.
Blair found John drinking a beer on his rooftop. Blair apologized for
Dorian's behavior. Blair admitted she worried that Marty would come between
them. Blair announced that she was ending "whatever this is" with John.
John seemed surprised when Blair said they could part as friends. "Is that
what you really want," he asked looking her directly in the eyes.
John stunned Blair by saying that he didn't want to walk away from the
relationship. "I was expecting something else," Blair said. John added that
he feels bad for what has happened to Marty but "I want you," he said. John
and Blair kissed passionately.
Marty asked for Cole's laptop. As he was booting it up, Cole read about Dr.
Joplin's suicide. "This is going to kill Starr," Cole said. Marty insisted
he rush to Starr's side. Marty went online and read her life story. She
printed out the story of her rape and continued to read everything she could
about Todd. Marty covered her bed with Todd's life story in print.
Moe announced proudly that he was going to work for Dr. Dorian Lord.
Carlotta, Charlie and Jared moaned at that news. Carlotta hired Noelle to
work in her new café.
Tuesday
At the Buenos Dias Cafe, Carlotta looked forward to Christina Comes Home for
Christmas, a holiday movie classic. Antonio brought Jamie to watch it.
Viki found Charlie at Buenos Dias. She told him he made her realize how
much she has to be grateful for. Viki asked Charlie if he would like to try
again. They both admitted how empty they felt without each
other. Viki added that she understood why he lied about Jared all those
months ago. The two shared a romantic kiss. Viki and Charlie then discussed
Charlie's sobriety. He wanted to celebrate staying on the wagon by spending the
night with Viki.
Rex, Gigi and Shane looked at their new family Christmas card. Roxy walked
in on the happy family and told a Roxy-esque story about Christmas cards.
When she mentioned his father, Rex asked if she was talking about Walter. As
usual, Roxy dodged that question. Roxy filled out a Christmas card to send
to Jessica, but Shane and Rex didn't want to send one to her in case Brody
would see it. When Gigi and Roxy left the room, Rex showed Shane a picture
he picked out of him and Brody and gave him a card send. Shane asked Rex to help him write it. When it was time for bed, Shane
called Roxy "grandma" and she smiled.
Natalie and Jared enjoyed a quiet moment before Bree beckoned. Bree threw
toys at Jared while Natalie tried to quiet Chloe unsuccessfully. After
admitting defeat, the two settled down to watch Christina Comes Home for
Christmas. Jared headed for the shower after saying that he thought they
made a pretty good team.
Blair and John continued to discuss their relationship. John told Blair he
wanted to be with her and kissed her. Before long, clothes were off. In bed,
Blair noticed that John's apartment needed a tree. Blair told John about
Christina Comes Home For Christmas.
Jessica offered a lonely Brody a place to sit and eat and showed him
pictures of Bree and Chloe. Brody empathized with Jessica and said how much
he missed Shane. Jessica made Brody uncomfortable when she asked what Tess
said to him. Brody tried to be gentlemanly about it but Jessica begged him
to tell her. He rehashed that she said she would make it "worth his while"
and that she talked about his body. Jessica was embarrassed, but Brody
assured her it was no big deal. Brody related to Jessica how no matter how
good things are, sometimes he'll find himself right back in Iraq and how
sometimes he sees the little boy that he shot. Jessica worried that she was
never going to be integrated. The two went into the common room to watch the
movie.
Talia walked in on Sarah "Llannet-ing" Vanessa Montez. Sarah tried to
convince Talia she wasn't worried about Vanessa. Sarah got ready to go to
Christian's as Layla got ready for her blind date — she was going to see a
special screening of Christina Comes Home for Christmas.
Vanessa and Christian arrived home, dejected at the fact that there was
nothing they could do to stop her and Lola from being deported. In Spanish,
Vanessa professed her undying gratitude towards Chris and kissed him!
Christian pulled away. Vanessa apologized. Christian understood. Sarah
arrived and wanted to see Christina Comes Home for Christmas. Vanessa told
Chris and Sarah that she loved that movie and Sarah told her to go watch it
upstairs.
As the movie began, all of Llanview was calm. Viki and Charlie kissed in the
snow; Jared and Natalie locked lips; Brody and Jessica got emotional; John and
Blair relaxed in bed; Talia and Antonio shared some alone time; Vanessa
watched as Christian and Sarah happily watched the movie; Rex and Gigi made
love; and Christina came home for Christmas.
Wednesday
Marty continued to pore over the articles about Todd.
The rest of Llanview woke up in bed with their loved ones.
That included Blair and John, Charlie and Viki even Marcie and Michael,
though Marcie seemed pre-occupied with the recent loss of baby Hope. Michael
assured her that he'd be there during Hope's funeral. Marcie shared how sad
she was that she didn't have any memories of Hope. "I don't know how I'm
supposed to get through this day," Marcie said.
Charlie was thrilled that he and Viki were back together. "I love you
Charlie, that's really all that matters," Viki said before kissing him.
John offered to drive Blair to the service but she was going to go with
Starr. "I'm glad we could work things out," John said as he kissed Blair
goodbye.
Jared and Natalie practiced their parenting skills on Bree and Chloe. Viki
announced that she and Charlie were back together. Natalie and Viki headed
to the service and left a nervous Jared with the two little girls.
Nora assured Cole that just because Marty was back, "I'm not going
anywhere." Cole was disappointed when Marty said she couldn't go to the
service. Before Cole left, he gave his mother a book with his favorite
Jabberwocky poem in it.
Langston told Dorian that funerals "aren't my best event." Langston reported
that Starr "was gone. Should we be worried?" Markko came by to pick up
Langston. Langston was delighted he was there.
Starr ran into Andrew before the service. She asked him how he and Cassie
got through the loss of their son William. "It was hard. I was mad at the
whole world," Andrew admitted. Starr's eyes filled with tears as she
listened to his words. Andrew suggested that Starr lean on her friends
during this time. Starr felt that all the bad things that had happened to
her friends and family were her fault because she had gone to bed with Cole
over nine months ago. Marcie and Michael arrived as did the rest of the guests. The Cramer women stood in front of
the little coffin. Cole showed up and took Starr's hand. Andrew began the
service and reminded everyone that there was now a little angel in heaven.
The service ended and Dorian snarkily asked John where Marty was. Blair
asked Dorian to go home and check on Addie and the boys. Cole thanked John
for coming. John asked about Marty. "She wasn't feeling up to it," Cole
said. "She's going to need time," John replied. At the gravesite, Andrew
lead the mourners in prayer. Then all the mourners said their own goodbyes.
Marcie wept on the coffin. Cole left a photo of him and Starr. Starr cried
in Blair's arms and at the last moment Marty showed up and grabbed her son's
hand.
At St. Ann's, Brody caught Jessica reading a newspaper article about Starr's
baby. "I can't help thinking 'what if it was my baby who died,'" Jessica
told her new friend. Jessica explained what had happened. "I just feel
really awful for her," Jessica wept. Brody offered to cheer Jessica up by
doing his Tarzan yell. Brody was sympathetic. "It's tough when a little kid
dies," he said. Brody shared his brief experience of being a dad to Shane.
Jessica couldn't put her finger on the weird things she was feeling
surrounding the death of baby Hope. Jessica said a prayer for Chloe and
Hope.
Thursday
Cole was pleased that Marty came to gravesite. Starr tried to explain that
she didn't think Todd knew he was hurting Marty. Marty grew uncomfortable
and ran off. Cole asked John if he should go after her. John said that Marty
just showing up was "a big step for her." Blair and Starr headed back to
Dorian's for lunch, while Cole and John lingered by the gravesite. Cole and
John hugged. Cole was frustrated that his mother doesn't laugh anymore and
wanted her to get professional help to help her remember.
Marty went into the church and asked God for "a little help." Marty
remembered a moment with Todd and grew angry. Andrew approached Marty. "Do I
know you," she asked. Andrew introduced himself. "We knew each other very
well," he said. Marty shared that she had done research about what she had
done to Andrew. Andrew assured her that she had changed since the days she
had tried to slander him. Marty vowed she wanted to hurt Todd the way he had
hurt her. Andrew told Marty not to waste her energy on revenge. Marty didn't
feel like talking but thanked Andrew for his "candor and information." Marty
got on her knees and told God she didn't need nice, she needed to "hurt
Todd. Then maybe I can get my life back."
Lola asked Langston to hide her. Lola didn't want to be deported with
Vanessa. Langston knew how her cousin was feeling. She shared that she had
lived alone when her parents were killed and she was afraid that Child
Services would come take her. Langston didn't think going into hiding was
the best way for Lola to deal with her fear of deportation.
Vanessa, Sarah and Cristian crossed paths dressed only in towels. Sarah
insisted to Cris that Vanessa wants him out of his towel. Cris didn't
believe her.
Carlotta introduced Noelle to Talia and the new chief of detectives —
Antonio. Noelle was quite impressed. Té surprised everyone by dropping into
the diner. Antonio guessed that she was back to represent Todd. Té
admitted she had met with Todd and added that Todd deserved a fair trial.
Things got prickly when Talia and Antonio reminded Té that Todd had raped
Marty, again. "He took advantage of Marty's memory loss," Antonio added. "He
doesn't want to be defended. He thinks he deserves to be punished," Té said
angrily. Té thought Vanessa was Cris' type. "She looks exactly like
Roseanne," Té added. Sarah looked upset and uncomfortable. Té offered
Vanessa a suggestion for a sure-fire way she could stay in the country:
marry an American.
Nora paid Todd a visit in jail. A sullen Todd told the DA that he already
lost everything. "Do you know what it's like to grow up in this town with
you as a father," Nora asked. "Nora I fell in love with her. I still love
her," Todd said quietly. Nora shook her head. "She loathes you," Nora told
him. Todd asked to see Marty so he could tell her how he still feels. Nora
told Todd that the most loving thing he could do for Marty was to plead
guilty. "But you won't do that," Nora said accusing Todd of lying yet again.
Blair brought Jack to see Todd.
Moe served Jack breakfast. An angry Jack immediately threw the meal into the
fireplace. Addie reprimanded Jack for his rude behavior to Moe. Jack refused
to apologize and stormed off. Addie thought that "Jack just got lost in the
shuffle, as usual." Blair was surprised to learn what Jack had done. Addie
gently pointed out that the family had gone through a lot. Starr went to
talk to Jack. "I could just kill Todd for what he's done to this family,"
Blair said. Jack demanded an explanation of why Todd was in jail. Blair
tried to explain the situation but couldn't come up with the right answers.
Jack stormed off. "I don't have the heart to tell my son that his daddy
brainwashed and raped a woman," Blair said as she ran upstairs.
Friday
Dorian checked on Starr, who was still very sad after Hope's funeral. Starr
wondered if Blair would take Todd back, again. Dorian hoped not.
Dorian told Starr that Starr was stronger than both of her parents. "And
I've know that since you were a really little girl." That pronouncement made
Starr smile. Blair and Starr headed to Todd's arraignment.
Nora was surprised to see Cole in the courtroom for Todd's arraignment.
Nora was pretty sure that Todd would plead guilty. Cole wasn't so sure. Nora
was surprised — and pleased — to hear that Marty had come to the cemetery.
Cole thought Marty had changed deep down. "Todd ripped out a part of her
soul," Cole said. Nora read off a very long list of charges against Todd.
Todd made eye contact with Marty when Nora read "First degree rape." Téa
walked into the courtroom at the very moment when Todd was about to announce
how he would plead. (We think he was about to plead guilty.) The courtroom
was surprised to see her back in town.
Sarah told Viki she fears she's losing "Cristian to another woman." Viki was
sorry that Tina had left so abruptly. Sarah started to cry about the
situation when she asked her aunt for details of what Tina had done. Viki
began to explain that Tina was still a child. "But she's doing the best she
can," Viki continued as she offered to stand in for Tina. Viki asked Sarah
for details about "this woman Cristian is trying to help." Viki suggested
Sarah stand up and fight for Cristian.
Vanessa explained a little of her situation to Téa, who recommended she
marry an American to stay in the country. Téa offered to help Vanessa find
out if she was still married to Ray. Téa made a few calls. Vanessa learned
that she was single and promptly proposed to Cristian so she could stay in
the U.S.
Blair brought Jack to Todd, so Todd could explain in his own words why he
was in prison. "You are on your own, pal," Blair said briskly. Todd began to
explain that he had hurt Marty when they were both in college. Todd added
that he had lied to Marty "a lot." "Don't you love me anymore?" Jack asked
when he learned of Todd's plan to run away with Marty. Todd assured his
son that he did not love Cole's mom more than his children, but admitted to
being a bad husband and a bad father. "I would never have been able to cut
you out of my life," Todd insisted. Jack said goodbye to his dad and left.
Blair had a few choice words for her ex. "You should have never have brought
him," Todd snapped. "He's got a father who's a jerk," Blair said. Todd asked
about Starr. "She buried her little baby today. The one that you wanted to
steal and raise with your girlfriend," Blair said as she walked out.
John found Marty praying and vowing to get back at Todd. "How much did you
hear?" a nervous Marty asked. John said he was worried and shared that Cole
was having a hard time. "It meant a lot to him that you were at the
cemetery," John added. Marty made it clear to John that he doesn't have to
take care of her. "Humor me, I'm unemployed," he said. John offered Marty a
ride to the arraignment. "Manning could weasel his way out of this," John
warned her. When the elevator doors opened, Marty and John walked into a
media circus. The flash cubes really went off when Todd was brought in.
Marty walked right up to Todd and looked him in the eye.
