After a successful Cramer Christmas, Dorian had one last gift for Langston: her certificate of adoption. But Dorian said it wouldn't be final until she was initiated with a shopping spree in New York City. But Langston was unsure about spending New Year's Eve away from Llanview and Markko, especially when she got a call from Markko telling her about the concert. Dorian understood and assured Langston that New York would wait.
Todd didn't think Marty would be at his house unless she was there to kill him. Marty explained that she was there to retrieve her journal. Todd apologized for how Ta treated Marty in court. She opened the journal and began to read from the first page, but kept "reading" when she got to a blank one. She said she had planned to spend New Year's Eve with him and wasn't sure she could shake those feelings she had for him. Todd wondered if there was a chance for them to reconcile. Marty became angry and walked out but later phoned him to make a secret plan for New Year's.
Rex was curious as to why there was a huge line outside of Ultra Violet, and was stunned when Gigi unveiled a Puddle of Mudd concert poster. She explained that the band was stopping in Philadelphia on their tour and that Sarah phoned in one of her connections to have them make a Llanview detour.
John rang the bell at Dorian's and surprised Blair with a kiss. She returned the favor with two gifts: a Hawaiian shirt and a vintage Lester Young LP. John presented her with two tickets to paradise, literally. He explained that the trip can be open-ended and that there's nothing keeping him in Llanview at the moment. Blair was even more thrilled when John asked if she had any New Year's Eve plans.
Beaver Calhoun informed the Buchanans that Asa has one last message for them, just as David was explaining to Charlie, Viki, Noelle and Moe that he had gone through a transformation. Beaver realized he'd popped in the wrong disc when it was Asa saying he was proud of them. He swapped DVDs and there was Asa telling his family that they failed him and let the company sink, which means they all lose everything. Asa said he was clear about his instructions the prior year: If the stocks go up, they all get their inheritance, but if they go down, they're out on their butts. Who would inherit the fortune was an even bigger shocker: David Vickers. Asa acknowledged that David's a snake in the grass, and it's up to them to stop him from getting his hands on the fortune. Clint asked how they were supposed to do that, and Asa "answered": "Figure it out!" Beaver went to track down David and inform him of his inheritance. Clint suggested they outsmart Vickers, which shouldn't be too hard considering they're the only ones who know, but Nigel informed Clint that there are two other people who know the truth: Alex and Max.
Meanwhile, David recalled his journey from Llanview and the experience that changed his life. He was sitting on a plane that was about to crash when he turned to look at the man next to him who was extremely calm. David asked how he was able to achieve such Zen, and the man took him on a journey of self-discovery on a mountaintop. He was now on a mission to atone for his sins, which includes confessing to people he has hurt. He then revealed that he knew Dorian was the one who held Charlie against his will and drugged him. Viki didn't even stay to hear the end of the story and stormed off to see Dorian. Charlie followed. "I feel unburdened," David announced, pleased with himself. Viki and Charlie arrived at Dorian's and Viki dropped the bombshell that she knows what Dorian did to Charlie, then threatened to involve Bo. Dorian decided she'd better leave town. Just as Nigel was telling Clint that Alex is in St. Blaze's, Dorian packed her bags for the island.
Tuesday
John surprised Blair by wearing the Hawaiian shirt she gave him and lighting the way with candles to a table at Rodi's. He revealed to her that he had purchased the bar from Renee, recalling a similar bar that his dad used to frequent in Atlantic City. The first order of business at this bar, John declared, would be to ban all girly drinks. Blair wasn't sure he could last as a bar owner, so he bet Blair that in six months if he's not running the bar, he'll sing at Capricorn.
Marty was surrounded by newspaper articles (presumably about Todd) and covered them up before answering her bedroom door. Cole told his mom that he was just heading out to Ultra Violet since he was being "forced" to have fun by Langston and Markko. When he asked if Marty would like to join them, she claimed she was going to turn in early. Meanwhile, Téa showed up at Todd's with a bottle of champagne and was surprised to learn that Todd already had plans. Wearing a slinky sequined top, Marty phoned Todd to make sure that they're still on for New Year's Eve. Téa followed Todd around the house and eavesdropped as he made secret plans. Téa figured out right away what Todd was doing and tried to sway him against it, arguing that Marty is probably going to wear a wire. Ignoring her advice, he ducked out, just as she received a call from Ray Montez. The prisoner asked his lawyer if she's any closer to getting him out, and she informed him that Cristian had married Vanessa — and all was going according to plan.
A sullen Cristian appeared at Sarah's door just as she lamented her lack of New Year's plans to her roommates. All three women told Cris he shouldn't be there. Cristian wanted Sarah to come to the concert, but she claimed she didn't want to risk exposing Cristian and Vanessa. Everyone left Sarah at home crying on the couch by herself.
At U.V., Langston suggested Markko take Lola for a spin on the dance floor while she chatted with Starr, who did not appear to be having a good time. Wes Scantlin, lead singer of Puddle of Mudd, approached Gigi and Rex to thank them for hosting the band and made a flirtatious comment about Gigi's appearance. Cole arrived to save Starr from her loneliness, while Langston grabbed Markko away from Lola, who was very impressed with Markko's dancing skills. Cristian met up with Vanessa, while Talia pointed out cute guys to Layla hoping that one of them was her blind date, who was supposed to be drinking something with an umbrella in it. Antonio brought over Fish, their tech-savvy cop friend from Cherryvale, who also happened to be drinking an umbrella-adorned beverage.
Marty let Todd into their suite at the Palace Hotel and had "Heart and Soul" playing in the background. She invited him in and sensed that he was nervous. He explained that Téa said she'd probably be wearing a wire; Marty flirtatiously offered to let him frisk her. She confessed that she's just not sure she can get over Todd, and begged him to make her remember all the terrible things he did to her so that she can get over him. He suggested that they try to put the past behind them, although he acknowledged that would be difficult now that he has a new scar on his cheek. She pulled back his bandage and pointed out that there is no scar there. He asked her for another chance and she suddenly ran out.
At Ultra Violet, Puddle of Mudd took the stage. During their song, "We Don't Have to Look Back Now," Layla and Fish sat together and seemed to be enjoying themselves, while Antonio and Talia cuddled and Cristian and Vanessa gazed at each other. Afterward, Starr and Cole left together. As midnight grew closer, Rex grabbed the microphone and got the clubgoers counting down. Fish tried to kiss Layla at midnight but she clinked his glass instead, while Cristian and Vanessa did kiss, which Sarah saw on a live video feed of the party on her laptop. She exited the browser window and went to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement site, then clicked on the link "Report A Fraud."
Marty ran up to the hotel roof and Todd followed. At the Buchanan mansion, Cole discovered that his mom wasn't home, and pulled back the covers to reveal the bed covered with articles about Todd. On the roof, Todd pleaded with Marty to give him another chance. She suddenly turned to face him and as though an idea had just come to her, exclaimed, "Yes!"

Addie was having her own hip hop party at home with Shaun when David
walked in and announced that he was there to cleanse his soul. The
party cleared out, and David apologized for the way things ended
between them. But she harbored no hard feelings, considering they
didn't marry for love in the first place. Addie told David she thinks
Buddism is a lovely religion but it might conflict with too many
things on her to-do list.
Clint, Nora, Charlie and Viki toasted the new year at the Palace, while
Dorian enjoyed a cocktail at St. Blaze's. Charlie revealed that Dorian
was the one who set Charlie up to fall off the wagon, and they all
realized that if Dorian had never messed with Charlie, her takeover of
Buchanan Enterprises (and Nash's subsequent death) wouldn't
have happened. Viki was determined to press charges but Dorian had
already skipped town. Clint and Nora were shocked to hear from Viki that
David is in town but kept mum about their knowledge of his pending
inheritance. Clint told Charlie he's happy to have Jared in his daughter's
life and that he looks forward to welcoming him into their family. After
Charlie and Viki left, David wandered in.
In St. Blaze's, Alex claimed that Asa left the island and its surrounding
waters to her, which Dorian found pretty hard to believe. They recapped
events that had taken place since their last encounter at Asa's will
reading, and Alex admitted that she believes she hit a coyote with her car
that day. Dorian had news for Alex: It was her! Alex didn't show much
remorse, and Dorian threatened to sue her.
At Rodi's, John and Blair were about to make love on the pool table
(Blair's suggestion) when Cole called to let John know that Marty might be
in trouble. Action John McBain was quick to come to Cole's rescue and left
his romantic evening with Blair, promising to return as soon as he could.
On top of the hotel roof, Todd gave Marty a heartfelt speech about how
fate brought them together and she changed him for the better. He
pleaded her to consider giving them another chance; she messed
with his head by responding yes, then dashing his hopes by revealing
that the whole night was a setup. "I can't live without you, Marty,"
Todd whined. When Todd said he wished she'd just pulled the trigger
the day John found her, Marty suggested she just put them both out of
their misery and jump off the roof. Todd was dumbfounded. Meanwhile, John
read through pages of Marty's journal detailing her earlier visit to Todd
and wondered where she could have gone with Todd. He phoned Blair to
apologize for leaving and said he thinks it's going to be a later night than
he imagined. Blair blew out the candles at the bar and walked out. John
flipped through the rest of the journal and came across a number: 703.
Marty continued to urge Todd to jump and even shoved him when he
remained speechless. Finally, Todd stood up and climbed the ledge of the
hotel. Marty was thrilled, and again asked him to end her pain. "Please do
it for both of us. Do it for me," she pleaded. He let himself freefall,
to her great surprise.
