One Life To Live Recaps

OLTL Week of December 15, 2008

Monday

Téa rushed into the courtroom and urged Todd to stop what he's about to do. Todd told the judge not to listen to Téa and announced that he accepts the charges, including rape. Téa confronted Nora about the rape charge and the judge called recess to let Téa and Todd sort this out. Marty stepped in when Téa tried talking to Starr, and John warned Marty that Téa will stop at nothing to win a case. John was surprised to hear that Marty already knew who Téa was, but Marty covered by saying Todd must have mentioned her, then flashed back to reading one of the many articles about Todd that she printed out.

At the diner, Vanessa pleaded with Cristian to help her and Lola by marrying Vanessa. He said he loves Sarah and can't hurt her that way. Vanessa explained that Téa seems to think marriage is the only way for Vanessa to stay in the country.

Téa pulled Todd into a witness room and demanded he tell her whether he was aware of the rape charge when he decided to plead guilty. He said he doesn't want Marty to have to testify, just as John was insinuating to Marty that Todd only cares about himself. Blair warned Nora and Marty that Téa is a force to be reckoned with. Téa asked Todd if he believes he raped Marty for the second time, but again, he said he's not going to fight this. Todd was suspicious of Téa's motives, asking what's in it for her if she keeps him out of jail. She claimed that after everything they've been through, she can't stand to see him give up. "That's not the Todd I know ... and love," she declared. She appealed to him by arguing that he won't be able to prove to his loved ones, especially Marty, that he is a changed man if he doesn't plead his case.

Brody and Jessica attended group therapy at St. Ann's, and Brody offered to speak first. He showed the group the sweet card Shane gave him, and the paranoid lady pointed out to the doctor that that's the boy Brody kidnapped. Brody said he knows what he did was wrong and he never meant to hurt anybody. He revealed that he'd shot a young boy in Iraq and has great regret for taking that child from his family. Just as he began to recall the details, he looked over and saw a vision of the boy sitting in a chair. Jessica caught on to what was happening and suggested someone else speak, but Brody insisted on finishing the story. When he mentioned that the boy was silent, Jessica suddenly remembered herself saying, "Why aren't you crying, baby?" When Brody claimed that he "took someone's child," it seemed to strike a chord with Jessica. Her mind was elsewhere when Dr. Levin called out to her. He asked what she was thinking about and she claimed she just felt really sorry for Brody after hearing his story. After the session, Jessica told Brody she must see her baby.

Rex noticed that something was bothering Shane at Rodi's. While he and Gigi were looking at Shane's recent test score, Rex spotted a "Z Box" on his Christmas list and Shane was angry because he never meant for that list to see the light of day. While Shane was out of earshot, Rex suggested he buy the video game system for Shane, but Gigi pointed out it's not really in their budget. Later, Rex tried to purchase the game online using his credit card, but the card was denied. Rex soon learned that his business credit card is maxed out, too, and he can't get his line of credit increased. Nevertheless, he kept silent about the problem and let on to Gigi that he'd be able to purchase the toy.

Markko met up with Langston and Lola at Cristian's, and Langston informed him she's persuaded Lola not to run away. Sarah arrived looking for Cristian and was touched when witnessed a tender moment between Langston and her cousin. When Cristian and Vanessa returned from the diner, Lola was upset to hear that Cris wouldn't marry Vanessa and pleaded with Sarah to allow Cristian to do so. Sarah pulled Cristian aside and asked if he really wants to marry Vanessa.

Téa and Todd returned to the courtroom and Téa shocked everyone by announcing that Todd has changed his plea. Nora argued against the court allowing a changed plea, but Téa pointed out that the rape charge was added after the defense reached a deal with the DA. The judge asked Todd for his plea, and Todd stood up, announcing that he pleads not guilty. Marty hung her head in dismay.

Tuesday

Todd announced to the judge and a disappointed courtroom that he did not rape Marty Saybrooke, clarifying, "this time". The judge accepted the plea, and Nora informed a furious Marty that she would now have to testify at trial. Marty stewed as Téa argued with the judge about Todd’s bail. The judge demanded that Todd remain in custody until his trial, but Téa managed to get a start date of the next day.

Sarah asked Cristian to admit whether he really wants to marry Vanessa to save her and Lola from deportation, and Lola was crushed when Cristian told Sarah he couldn't do that to her. Lola refused to say good-bye to Cristian when Vanessa announced that it was time for their hearing. Vanessa asked for a moment alone with Cristian but didn't know how to thank him for his kindness. She told Cristian she didn't regret kissing him and she'd never forget him. Sarah assured a worried Cristian that Vanessa and Lola would be fine. He and Sarah started to make out, while an envelope labeled "V" was slipped under the door. As they were about to head upstairs, Sarah spotted the envelope. Inside was a note written in Spanish, translated as, "A life for a life. Or two."

While speaking with Brody, Jessica painted a sad picture of her children's Christmas without her, and the more manipulative her words became, it was clear that she was really Tess. Brody seemed to fall for it, but wasn't so sure about meeting her demand that he use his Navy SEAL skills to break her out of St. Ann's. Brody stalled by saying they'll need to get into the supply closet but must wait until after hours. She said she doesn't know how to thank him, so he called her bluff by saying she'll just have to sleep with him. She planted a big kiss on him and started to remove his clothing. He threw on her on the bed and hit the emergency button. The doctor walked in and yelled, "Jessica!"

Jared met up with Natalie at the coffeehouse with shopping bags from Logan's that made Natalie very curious. She asked for some details about her gifts, but he joked that she's getting socks. While Natalie was taking Bree to the ladies' room, Jared showed baby Chloe his real gift for Natalie: an engagement ring. He told her to keep it a secret, just as Natalie returned. She got him out of the way by asking him to get coffee, and started rummaging through the bags, telling the kids she knows he didn't get her socks.

Vanessa's hearing got underway and the judge asked her about the shooting. The judge did not accept her arguments that she and Lola are in danger, but Cristian and Sarah suddenly rushed in and said they have evidence he might want to review. He showed her the note and suggested it's a death threat against Vanessa and Lola. Nevertheless, the note did not present reason for them to seek asylum in the U.S., he explained. The only choice is for the women to go back to Colombia. Pushed to the limit, Cristian declared, "Vanessa Montez ... is going to be my wife." Sarah's jaw nearly fell to the floor. Meanwhile, Todd's hearing let out, and Todd tried to tell Marty he loves her, but she threw up her hands in anger and ran out.

Wednesday

The judge was taken aback when Cristian announced that Vanessa is his fiancée and begged him not to take her away. The judge pointed out that this looks a lot like a fraud and warned them that that Homeland Security will investigate. Elsewhere in the courthouse, Cole came down on Téa for defending Todd. Téa argued that this isn't a black and white situation, but Cole didn't want to hear it; he considered what happened between Todd and Marty rape. Téa wandered into the courtroom where Vanessa's hearing was taking place and tried not to act surprised about her client's engagement. Vanessa did a good job of acting cozy with Cristian as Téa spun a web of lies about their secret relationship. The judge granted them an immediate review by the Board of Immigration Appeals and concluded the hearing. As Téa was advising Vanessa and Cristian on how to act at the hearing, Cristian turned around and saw that Sarah had already left.

At the coffeehouse, Natalie failed to find her Christmas gift by the time Jared returned with their drinks. She asked for just a clue, and he teased that he "went all out." Cole and Starr met Langston and Markko at the diner, and the foursome griped about their current state of affairs. Markko suggested they all check out the tree-lighting ceremony at Angel Square and if it's "lame," he'll swim in the Llantano River. Vanessa and Cristian returned to the loft together, while Lola ran off to join her cousin and her new friends. Sarah was on her way out of the loft and was clearly upset. Vanessa stood by as Cristian insisted to Sarah that he loves her and only wants to be with her.

At Angel Square, Gigi and Rex took Shane to see Santa Claus, who just happened to be Bo dressed up. Shane said he doesn't believe in Santa, so Rex assured Bo that he does and listed a number of P.I.-related accessories he wants for Christmas. Marcie lamented to Gigi that all she wants for Christmas is to hold her baby. Rex confided his financial troubles to Bo but refused to take a handout. Natalie and Jared brought Chloe and Bree to see Santa. Natalie introduced the baby to Marcie, who was immediately taken with her and carried her to Bo when he asked who was next to sit on Santa's lap. Sarah sullenly looked on from behind a fence at all the happy faces in the square.

"Jessica" and Brody were on the verge of having sex when Dr. Levin walked in and stopped them. Brody admitted to pushing the call button, explaining that he knows Jessica is really Tess. Jessica lied to the doctor that Brody was taking advantage of her and even revealed that Brody sees the boy from Iraq all the time. As Jessica became more and more upset, it was clear that Tess had taken control. The orderly kicked Brody out of the room, and Dr. Levin approached her with a sedative. Meanwhile, Brody was once again staring at the Iraqi boy, and an orderly helped him to his room. A sleeping Jessica rolled over and dropped photos of her children, as "Bess" hovered over her and stroked her hair.

Alone in the courtroom, Téa took a phone call and told the person on the other line that "everything is going swimmingly."

Thursday

Todd dreamt that he received a visit from his late tormentor, Margaret Cochran. She was all over him and Todd was sickened. Luckily, his nightmare was interrupted when a guard called for him to wake up and attend his preliminary hearing.

Cristian glumly announced to Carlotta that he and Vanessa are getting married, which made Antonio spit out his coffee. Carlotta didn't quite understand and told Antonio to talk some sense into his brother. Antonio knew something was up, and asked if this whole marriage thing was Téa's idea. Cristian insisted that he was protecting the people he cares about and revealed that there is a death threat against Vanessa. Antonio questioned the validity of the threat, and advised his brother to be careful or he'll lose Sarah. Rex, meanwhile, lamented his financial woes to Noelle and ordered nothing but water. As Rex said he was desperate to buy the ZBOX for Shane, Noelle understood, recalling the many Christmases she'd spent with Gigi and Shane when Gigi was unable to provide Shane with all the things he wanted. Rex was moved when Noelle said she'd once found Gigi crying in the back room of the Bon Jour Café. Rex decided to sell some of his belongings, and ended up getting a bid for his flat-screen TV.

Dorian went over her generous Christmas list while Moe fussed in the kitchen. She was surprised to see Starr come in with Cole at breakfast. Starr explained that she and Cole are going to Todd's hearing. Dorian was concerned about how Cole was doing and offered to find a specialist for Marty. She was proud of Starr when her niece explained why she doesn't trust Téa Delgado. Once Starr and Cole were off to the courthouse, Dorian asked Moe if he'd like to come Christmas shopping with her. Moe said he has everything he wants, and asked if Dorian's buying something for a special guy in her life. She told him about her husband Mel, who died in a plane crash (although she noted that there was no body found).

Blair ran into John at Angel Square and found him reading the front-page story about Todd's hearing. He brought up the time Blair pushed Téa out a window, which Blair tried to brush off by noting she'd never push John out a window.

Marty approached Téa at the courthouse and told her she shouldn't be defending such a lowlife. She had apparently done her research on Téa and recited a few of the unpleasant things she'd learned about Téa's history with Todd. Téa insisted that Todd is in a place where he's not thinking clearly and needs someone to act on his behalf. Marty explained why she believes what Todd did was rape, so Téa tried to push her buttons by suggesting Marty's just jealous. Marty delivered the attorney a hard slap across the face, just as Nora walked in to witness it. Blair arrived and she and Nora intervened, and the preliminary hearing got underway. Nora and Téa were immediately at each other's throats when Téa requested that Marty take the stand. But Marty obliged and approached the bench. Téa's first question was a tough one: “Are you in love with Todd Manning?”

Sarah arrived at Hallowed Grounds and was bummed to share with Layla and Talia that Cristian is marrying Vanessa. She explained that it was Téa's idea, which made Layla insist Téa's gotta go. Talia promised to stay quiet about what Sarah told them and urged Sarah to fight for her man. Rex came in and was beside himself after failing to find a ZBOX for sale. Layla reluctantly asked him what was wrong and couldn't help but be swayed by his sob story. She gave him a tip on a guy that was selling the ZBOXes in Angel Square. Rex ran over to the square only to find that the seller had just sold the last one to Dorian. Cristian came face-to-face with Sarah at the diner.

Friday

Téa used Marty's statement that she is "no longer" in love with Todd to illustrate the point that she willingly had sex with him. Nora stood up and objected that the amnesia factor validates the rape charge. "She didn't know what she was doing!" Cole cried out. Téa continued to harp on her point, but Todd suddenly stood up and pleaded with the judge to let the questioning end. Téa put Todd in his place and resumed questioning Marty. She asked if Marty had ever researched herself or Todd on the
Internet during her stay at Todd's. Marty admitted that she found an article about her rape in early October, a point that Téa used to make it look like Marty stayed there for a whole month knowing that Todd was her rapist. Marty explained that Todd talked her out of reading the article.

Vanessa warned an excited Lola that Cristian still has a chance to change his mind. Meanwhile, Cris ran into Sarah at the diner. Sarah said she can't just be the girl on the sidelines, reminding him that he does have a choice not to marry Vanessa. Cristian said it doesn't have to be forever but he has to protect Vanessa from the death threat.

Rex pleaded with Dorian to sell him the last Zbox but she wasn't too sympathetic and even reamed him out for breaking Adriana's heart. Rex asked for her forgiveness for hurting Adriana, but Dorian said she never forgives people who hurt her girls. She pulled a total Scrooge and headed home to gloat over her gifts. Rex returned to the diner and was tempted when he saw an unattended Zbox at someone's table.

Vanessa and Lola arrived at the courthouse in fancy new dresses courtesy of Langston. Sarah stalked Vanessa to the bathroom and made it clear that she wouldn't let Cristian go without a fight. Vanessa retreated to the courtroom and the judge requested there be two adult witnesses. Markko (who is 18) could serve as one, but they needed another. Just then, Sarah walked in and offered to be a witness. Sarah kept a watchful eye on Vanessa as she and Cristian exchanged rings and were legally wed.

Téa continued to interrogate Marty and brought up the black dress that turned Todd on. Starr and Cole became increasingly more uncomfortable as Marty shared details of her night with Todd. Téa eventually got Marty to break down and admit that Marty never said no and was not physically restrained when she slept with Todd. "Yes, that's what I wanted
but I didn't know!" Marty sobbed about the night she made love to him. Cole rushed to her side at recess but Marty didn't want his help and ran off. John wanted to go check on her, but Blair insisted since she saw Marty go into the ladies' room. She came upon Marty lost in thought in the bathroom and said she knows hard hard it is to get Todd out of your head. Outside, Nora accused Téa of becoming a different person and was disgusted
that she still supports Todd after everything he's done to her (including punch her in the face!). Nora urged Téa to think about what Todd will do to her if they lose the case. Starr found Cole in Angel Square and gave him a comforting hug. Blair returned from the bathroom and assured John that Marty was fine. The hearing resumed, and it was revealed that Téa managed to get the rape charge thrown out.
