One Life To Live Recaps

OLTL Week of August 13, 2007

Monday

Dorian was thrilled to make an appearance with Clint at Monte Carlo night. Starr and her friends caught them in a lip lock. Antonio was surprised to see Sarah ("Flash?") at Cristian's. Natalie called Jessica to remind her about the Monte Carlo benefit, which she planned as her "first official duty" as a BE employee. Nash saw it as a chance to drum up some investors for the winery, now that Antonio has pulled out. Natalie came by to apologize for putting Viki in an awkward situation earlier. Blair held Tommy and remarked how much he looked like Jack when he was Tommy's age. Troubled over keeping the secret of Tommy's paternity, John went to confession. Michael insisted on taking Tommy when Blair offered to let Todd hold him. Todd didn't seem particularly affected either way, but was focused on getting John to coerce a confession out of Miles. After Todd had a little outburst, Blair assured Marcie and Michael that Todd was moving toward accepting that TJ is dead. Roxy showed up with fliers for the charity event. Todd suggested he and Blair attend in the hopes of torturing Miles. Dorian allowed Starr, Cole, Markko and Langston to have a little post-courtroom-wrecking dip in her pool. Markko apologized for interrupting Dorian and her boyfriend making out. Dorian stated that Clint was simply giving her a kiss good-bye, but Langston commented that it was actually "cool." "In case you were wondering, it does get better with time," Dorian winked and left the teens alone. When Blair found them, they had already gotten into a card game, but she was fine with leaving them alone since she was off to the Palace with Todd. John admitted to the priest that he knew two good people who were taking care of a child who wasn't rightfully theirs. He wondered whether he had the right to decide whose hands the child should be in. As John continued to confess his dilemma, he imagined the priest was his father, Thomas, who advised John to make his own decision. Sarah assured Cristian that he had no other choice than to protect her when he accidentally killed Hunter at Capricorn. Antonio didn't seem too upset about the bloodshed taking place at his club. Sarah expressed her gratitude for saving her life. Cristian and Antonio bonded over a beer and their mutual dislike of Todd, who Sarah was quick to defend. Antonio asked Sarah what was up with her music career. She explained that when she got strangled, it kinda put a damper on her ability to sing. Sarah asked Antonio why she can't book bands at Capricorn, but he said they didn't need a full-time booker. Once Antonio was gone, Sarah admitted that she was planning to attend the charity event in an effort to connect with her rich great-grandpa. Moments later, a well-dressed Sarah came out of the bedroom and Cristian couldn't keep his eyes off of her, although he declined the invite to join her. Jessica and Nash got into some hanky-panky on the couch before getting ready for casino night. Feeling energized from their romp, Jessica was ready for a night on the town. Meanwhile, Miles showed up at Viki's back door for the second time that day to pick up Natalie, who was upstairs getting dressed. Viki took the opportunity to question Miles on his intentions toward Natalie. He explained that he valued her friendship and would never hurt her. Natalie entered in a ruby-red stunner for her BE charity debut. Dorian and Clint arrived at the charity event in full, glamorous attire and Clint insisted on saying hello to Viki immediately. Dorian suggested Viki better get ready to lose some money, but Viki said she was pretty comfortable with her Texas Hold 'Em abilities, so Dorian challenged her to a game. Back at Dorian's, Markko didn't think playing poker without money was very exciting so he suggested something a little more scintillating: strip poker.

Tuesday

Langston advised a nervous Starr to chill before their game of strip poker. Across town, Roxy taught the Monte Carlo Night attendees how to play Night Baseball. Viki handed over the transfer document to Clint for his $10 million. Bo escorted a beaming Linsday to the bar, while Natalie drank a vodka straight-up with Miles, who was being watched like a hawk by Todd and Blair. Todd decided to call out Miles on his nervousness by asking flat-out what Spencer did with his son, causing Miles to spill his drink all over himself. At the diner, Adriana and Rex worried that they could go to jail for keeping Tommy’s paternity a secret. Marcie found John on the Angel Square Hotel rooftop and demanded to know what was going on with Michael. Markko was the first player to remove a piece of clothing (a jacket!) during the game. Ultimately, Cole was left without a thread, so he jumped in the pool before removing his boxers and throwing them at Starr. After the laughter subsided and Starr handed Cole a towel, things really heated up as Starr and Cole engaged in some kissing outside of the pool, while Markko and Langston got into a whipped cream fight in the kitchen. Desperate to know what her husband is hiding from her, Marcie pulled up a chair next to John and grabbed a beer. She hinted that she knows what’s really bugging Michael: He has an incurable illness and can’t bring himself to tell her because he seems so concerned about how much time he spends with Tommy. John swore that it’s not that, and it’s not her or their marriage. Meanwhile, Adriana wondered if John would reveal a truth that could devastate his brother’s family. Even if John does open his mouth, Rex promised to not implicate Adriana. She thanked him for always taking such good care of her. At the Palace, Bo advised Miles and Todd to play nice, but Todd still bugged Miles to tell him what was really in Spencer’s letter. Sarah showed up hoping to see Asa, but Clint noted that he wasn’t really up to a party. Clint reintroduced Sarah to Dorian, who remarked that Sarah needs to choose her next boyfriend wisely since the other one got killed. Dorian went to check out Muffy Carlson’s new boob job, while Clint asked Sarah if she was planned to hit him up for money. Sarah insisted that she wasn’t after the money so she wouldn’t have to work, and she just didn’t want a desk job. Clint said the offer to work at BE is still on the table. She declared that she wants to "find new talent and take them to the top," so Clint advised her to do that on her own and see how good it feels to pave her own way. Dorian accused Viki of chickening out on their poker game, so Viki called her bluff and followed her to a table. Clint shook his head in dismay. The ladies sat down to a game of Texas Hold ’Em with Roxy as the dealer. Nora offered Viki moral support, while Lindsay advised Dorian to put her money where her mouth is and just play cards. Lindsay walked away with Bo before things got ugly. More and more people bailed on the game and Viki decided to raise the stakes. Across the room, Antonio complimented a smokin’ Talia on her dress, then groaned as he overheard Jessica introducing her "NEW HUSBAND NASH!" The couples collided and Antonio insulted Nash by suggesting he just have his new wife write him a check to cover the other half of the winery. As Antonio continued to taunt Nash, Talia advised him to let it go and pulled him away. Jess started to get lucky at a nearby table, but stopped when she felt a rush that was reminiscent of Tess. Meanwhile, Antonio chatted with Talia and let his hand linger on her shoulder, making the cop blush. Blair and Todd sat at the bar rehashing their last year’s worth of bad luck, and ran into Miles and Natalie once again. In the midst of more bickering, Blair "accidentally" stepped on Natalie’s toe. Bo found the two duos warring again and warned Todd to steer clear of Miles. After they separated, Todd and Blair returned to their champagne. He asked why she didn’t find a new boyfriend while he was gone. She was too busy looking for him, she answered. Todd changed the subject by asking what Starr and Jack were up to. After more candid discussion, Todd and Blair nearly kissed. Jessica approached Miles and and chastised him for what he put Todd through and remarked that she regretted letting him into her family. Natalie tried to get Jess to give him the benefit of the doubt, but Jessica was only interested in chewing Miles out. Jess and Nash decided to call it a night, and gave a cash-strapped Sarah a ride home. Talia and Antonio headed to the diner. At the Texas Hold ’Em table, Dorian raised the stakes with Clint’s $10 million. As Marcie continued to press John for info, she reminded him that Michael and Tommy are the only family she’ll ever have. When she lamented not getting a chance to have the same fertility surgery that Kelly had before Truman was killed, John suddenly had a vision of Marcie plunging a pair of scissors into Truman’s chest. John could barely keep his focus on what Marcie was saying as he continued to imagine her killing Spencer.

Wednesday

Starr and Cole kept each other warm by the pool, while Markko and Langston
tumbled around on Dorian's kitchen floor, which was as covered in chocolate
sauce and whipped cream as they were. At the Palace, Dorian wasn't bluffing
about putting Clint's $10 million on the game and told Viki to call or fold.
Blair asked Todd what they were doing as he leaned in for a kiss. "What we
always do," he replied, but she didn't think that was a good thing. John
kept thinking about Marcie killing Spencer.

Antonio snuck into the closed diner and treated Talia to a late-night
dessert, which she admitted was much more up her alley than a black-tie
charity event. He remarked that he was glad they were friends and that they
could confide in each other. He asked if there was anything troubling her,
like a guy problem, and she nodded. "What's his name?" he asked. She glanced
at the quarter in her hand and answered, "George," then tried to change the
subject.

As things got hot and heavy in the kitchen, Langston asked Markko if he
wanted to sleep with her and was p.o.'d when he turned her down. Markko
simply wanted to know why she so suddenly wanted to speed things up and
wondered if something else was going on beneath the surface, like perhaps
something with her parents. He assured her that he respected her and was
there for her if she wanted to talk. Outside, Starr assured Cole that she
knew what he was going through. They headed to the house and Starr was not
pleased to see the mess Langston and Markko made. But hilarity ensued as
they "cleaned up."

When Marcie finally got John to tune back in, she asked if he had any
suspects in Truman's murder other than Marty. He advised her to come up with
a list on her own, since she is a mystery writer. The next thing she knew,
they were going over Michael's alibi, then hers. Marcie was insulted and
asked what possible motive she'd have for killing Spencer. He looked over at
Tommy in his stroller just as Michael stepped onto the rooftop and asked
what was going on. Marcie informed him that John apparently suspected her of
killing Spencer. John brushed it off in front of Marcie, but when she and
Tommy left, Michael nearly pushed his brother off the roof. John overpowered
his bro and two seconds later, he was back to drinking a beer in his
favorite deck chair.

Recognizing their poor track record, Blair kept her lips away from Todd.
They agreed that as a couple, things get too complicated, so they toasted to
a "simple" platonic relationship. Blair vowed to help Todd make Miles pay.
"Those two have never had the pleasure of seeing us in action," Blair
winked, referring to Natalie and Miles.

Dorian goaded Viki into seeing her bet, so Viki wrote an IOU. Miles showed
his naivety by asking Natalie if Dorian and Viki didn't like each other.
Lindsay reminded Viki that BE had already raised a huge amount of charity,
but Viki resolved to call. Viki laid out four aces, telling Dorian that if
Clint taught her anything, she should have learned the odds against that are
pretty slim. Dorian turned over her hand, a royal flush, and gloated in her
victory. Later, Viki admitted to Nora that even though the money is no
issue, she feels like a fool. Nora said she didn't think Viki got "down and
dirty" at the Texas Hold 'Em table because of a longstanding rivalry with
Dorian but because she doesn't want Clint with Dorian. Nora advised her to
find a way to let it go, giving Viki food for thought. Still elated from her
win, Dorian headed home with Clint.

Lindsay escorted Bo out of the Palace and sensed that something was
troubling him. He wasn't fine, he admitted, and it wasn't Paige's absence
that was eating at him. Bo confided that Asa did something that he should
have reported, but kept it secret. One more time, Michael pleaded with John
not to tell Marcie anything about Tommy. John said he couldn't make that
promise, so Michael threatened to break ties with his brother.

Thursday

Todd passed around free newspapers at the diner: the words "BIG LOSER" were
plastered over Viki's face, which delighted Dorian as she read The
Sun on her patio. Meanwhile, Nora, Matthew and Renee were eating
breakfast when Nigel went to bring Asa his meal and discovered that the
Buchanan patriarch had passed away in his sleep. Nigel returned to the
living room and broke the news to Renee that her husband was dead.

Bo wandered into the barn, where Clint was getting ready to go horseback
riding, and said he had no choice but to arrest their father. Clint still
thought Bo should look the other away regarding Asa's misdoing and said
there was no point in pushing the issue. Bo argued that there was no way he
could let Marty rot in jail while he lets his own father get away with
breaking the law. Nora interrupted Bo and Clint's argument to deliver the
heartbreaking news that Asa's heart stopped in his sleep. Clint and Bo were
speechless.

Matthew admitted to Nigel how strange it was to see Asa's lifeless body and
flashed back to Asa telling Matthew he loves his grandson. Clint got off the
phone with Cord just before Sarah rushed in. She was shocked and genuinely
upset to hear about Asa.

After Langston left La Boulaie in Starr's clothes, Dorian asked Blair if she
thought Langston was neglected by her parents. Cole came to tell everyone
Asa had just died. Blair was visibly upset despite her history with Asa.
Meanwhile, Clint called Viki, who was so sorry to hear about his father.
When Viki told Todd, he remarked that this day just keeps getting better and
better, so Natalie threw him out. Viki went to call Kevin and Joey while the
girls hugged.

The next day, Bo ran into Rex at the diner. Rex offered his condolences and
remarked that he regretted not knowing his own father even though Dr. Balsom
was a bad guy. "Asa Buchanan was no saint," Bo grumbled, and admitted that
he was on the verge of arresting Asa for a felony. Rex promised to be there
for Bo, and Bo gave him a good shoulder squeeze as if to say thank you.

Back at La Boulaie, Blair read Asa's obituary in The Banner, while
Dorian discovered that The Sunhad Asa's face on the cover with the
words: "Say It Ain't So." Later, Todd paid Blair a visit and showed her what
he really wanted to print: "Finally!" He failed to understand why Blair was
upset. Blair headed out to pay her respects rather than waste her time
explaining herself to Todd. Todd stayed behind to chow down on Dorian's
food, and recalled Asa threatening to ship him out of town.

At Asa's, Nora answered the door and couldn't believe who was standing
before her. Upstairs, Renee prepared for the funeral and thought back to one
of her three weddings to Asa. She asked Nigel how they were going to get on
without Asa, and Nigel said he didn't know. Nora brought Max up to see her
and she was overwhelmed.

Viki and Clint started to bicker while waiting at the airport for their
sons. Cord, Kevin and Joey's arrivals set off a slow-motion montage of
Buchanans reuniting left and right. They gathered at Asa's funeral, where Bo
was the last to leave the grave site. Viki went to visit Joe's grave with
Kevin and Joey and said Joe would have been very proud of his sons. Viki
asked Joey if he was doing okay and he said London was great. Back at the
mansion, Blair joked with Cord and Max that they should flip a coin to
determine who gets to hug her first. Blair then wandered around Asa's study
and recalled Asa threatening her. Max reminded her that Asa used to say,
"Women, watch your backs! Men, watch your wallets!" regarding Blair, which
made her cry. Max offered her comfort with a steamy kiss. An overwhelmed
Sarah ran out on the gathering and Cord found her crying in a bedroom. She
said she didn't deserve to be there with everyone.

In a separate room, Joey got angry with someone on the phone. Dorian entered
and Joey remarked that she looked beautiful. She asked if he ever thought
about their relationship and he replied, "Yes, and you?" Dorian was about to
give him an answer when Kevin's arrival sent her packing. "Don't even say
it," Joey, said, looking at his disapproving brother. They joined their
other siblings in the living room and made a toast (with a soda for Jessica)
to their grandpa. Nora gazed at Asa's portrait and remembered Asa telling
her, "You are the toughest woman I know." Renee was stunned to see Alex in
the foyer. "How could this happen to our big cowboy?" Alex cried.

Bo did some serious drinking in the barn and recalled his father taunting
him years ago to make an arrest. Angry with Asa for getting away with his
crimes, Bo picked up Asa's hat and threw it down, just as Clint walked in.

Viki asked Nigel if there was anything she could do to help, so he sent her
on a mission to the wine cellar to retrieve a special bottle of champagne
that Asa had reserved for this very occasion. On a hunt for Blair, Dorian
found Viki in the wine cellar. The door mysteriously closed and locked
behind her. Dorian the claustrophobic started to panic, while Viki cracked,
"What else is new?"

Friday

Jessica and Natalie prodded Joey for information about his love life, while Blair and Max broke from their kiss. Blair chalked it up to his grief, but Max claimed it was about her. Sarah told Cord she felt guilty for not seeing Asa before it was too late. Alex and Renee had an interesting confrontation, causing Matthew to ask about the identity of the blonde stranger. "I used to be your grandmother," she stated dramatically, leaving him wide-eyed. Clint picked up Asa's old hat from the floor of the barn and asked why Bo was so angry at Pa. In the cellar, Dorian screamed for help, while Viki calmly wondered aloud why this was happening to her and remarked that getting stuck with Dorian was like a cosmic joke that had gotten old. The only thing that’s different is there's nothing left for them to fight about, Viki commented, but Dorian thought about it differently: The universe might be looking for them to have it out "once and for all."

Max confessed to Blair that he missed being with her and that no one will ever measure up to her. He then shocked her with an invitation to Argentina to give their relationship another shot. Blair thought it was crazy and was touched by the offer, but said things were complicated for her right now. He asked if she was referring to Todd, and she nodded yes, explaining that her connection to Todd is too strong. He wished her happiness and she wished him the same.

Alex caught Nora and Lindsay bickering over Bo and commented that some things never change. She gave them some unsolicited advice about how to focus on what's really important, then inquired about Asa's will, setting Renee off. Feeling unwelcome, Lindsay departed after telling Matthew that he should feel free to call her anytime. Renee went to alert security that Alex was on the premises.

Dorian asked Viki why she was so sure there wasn't something important left for them to discuss. Dorian said she had something to share with Viki that she'd kept to herself for far too long: She killed Victor. Viki said they'd already been over this: She smothered Victor, and if Dorian recalled, neither of their attempts proved to be fatal. Dorian wondered if the man who so triumphantly returned from the grave a few years ago was even the real Victor Lord! Viki balked at her suggestion and claimed there was no point in rehashing Victor's multiple deaths. Dorian challenged Viki to then explain what defines her life, since they'd just spent so much time listening to people list Asa's accomplishments. Meanwhile, Alex wandered around the basement and came upon the wine cellar. She heard voices and leaned in for a second to hear Dorian asking Viki to define her life. Every answer Viki gave Dorian questioned, prompting Dorian to give the "You only have one life to live" speech. Just in the nick of time, Nigel unlocked the door and freed the women. Dorian wanted to continue their conversation, but Viki said they were through.

In the barn, a drunken Bo lamented never being good enough for Pa and suggested that Asa was embarrassed by his police work. Bo nearly attacked Clint when he told him to stop making Asa out to be the devil. Clint pointed out that Asa was so hard on him because he was jealous of Bo for forging his own path in life and becoming the man Asa wished he could be. Bo held onto Asa's hat as he sat down and tried to fight back the tears. Nora arrived and informed them that Alex was in the house. Clint asked if Alex was wearing one of her "crazy outfits." Nora and Clint left Bo to himself, but Matthew soon joined him. Bo remembered wanting to be just like Asa when he was young, and Matthew admitted that he wanted to be just like his father. Bo put Asa's too-big hat on Matthew's head and sat with his arm around his son.

Meanwhile, Cord assured Sarah that Asa was crazy about her and she had nothing to worry about, that Asa knew how much they all loved him. Sarah admitted that she had come by the day before just to see if Asa would help her get access to her trust fund again.

Joey shared a rollicking story about a girl throwing a drink in his face, the asked Jessica to tell him something about her life. She talked briefly about her beautiful child and husband, but Natalie wanted to know what the siblings thought about Clint dating Dorian. Kevin reminded them that Dorian had once dated Joey and compared their affair to a car wreck. They all wanted Joey to give up some crazy details of his affair and Natalie lamented that she wished she'd grown up with her siblings. Joey pointed out that Natalie was the only one who was actually blood-related to Asa, while Kevin noted that Asa loved them all the same. They broke into song and dance as they recalled one of Asa's favorite songs. Finally freed from the cellar, Viki was happy to find her children dancing and singing.

Nigel found Max alone in the study and confided that he had a secret he was keeping about his former employer: Asa had another son and it's David Vickers! Max advised Nigel to choose wisely when he reveals this information. Max swore to keep the secret, while Alex happened to be listening outside. "Jackpot," she whispered to herself.

A musical montage began as Cord, Joey and Kevin kissed their family good-bye at the airport. Blair gazed at Asa's face on the cover of The Sun, while Nigel sat in Asa's study and Renee returned alone to her bedroom. Out in the barn, Nora placed a blanket over Bo and Matthew, who had both fallen asleep. Clint stood alone in the living room in front of Asa's portrait and set a glass of whiskey next to it on the mantel. He sat down and covered his face, just as Dorian placed her arms around him. Meanwhile, Viki sat lost in thought at the airport, then bought a one-way ticket to the next flight out of town.
