One Life To Live Recaps

OLTL Week of August 11, 2008

Monday

John was reluctant to take over as acting commissioner while Bo's out of town, but Antonio insisted John's the man for the job, then asked for his resignation. John was not too happy to hear this news, and said he'd tender a temporary leave of absence.

Marty was thrilled to receive a gnarly new nightgown from Todd, but he told her that one was actually his second choice — the first one ended up in Blair's hands. Blair had even threatened to wear it for John, he added. Marty asked if he wanted to join her in completing her crossword puzzle, prompting Todd to lament that Starr's the one with the brains in the family — except now she's pregnant. Marty was unfazed and got him to answer a few puzzle questions. He hopped into bed with her and was soon sharing his story of how Cole took his little girl's innocence. "Wow, this kid does sound like trouble," Marty commented without even knowing Todd was talking about her own son. Todd remarked that it's been nice having someone like her around, and she assured Todd that she's his friend. She touched his face softly as she told him that he's made her pain more bearable.

Over at Rodi's, Blair was handling the original gown and remarked to Brody how hideous it is. Brody, the new Rodi's bartender/confidant to everyone in town, asked if that was a gift from John. She explained it belonged to Todd's new girlfriend, then handed it to Brody and asked him to toss it.

Clint made a mysterious phone call to a private investigator named Simon with a request to dig up something on Langston. When Nora overheard him saying good-bye to Simon, Clint lied that he'd called the P.I. about looking for Bo. Just then, Clint was thrilled to receive a surprise visit from Cord. He said Joey and Kevin had asked him to check in on Clint while he's in town visiting Sarah. Clint asked if Bo had been in touch with them, and Nora admitted that she was concerned since Bo usually contacts Matthew when he's out of town.

At Llanfair, Sarah explained to Tina that Jessica seems to have forgiven Jared and Natalie for indirectly causing Nash's death. However, she's not so sure Jess has forgotten what happened. Meanwhile, Tess made a call to a contractor about a "big surprise" she was planning. She gave him instructions to never call on the house phone, then headed out to him at Rodi's, noting that she'll be the "best-lookin' blonde in the place." Foreshadowing perhaps? Tina sensed a little hostility when Jess left, and even Natalie seemed to notice something off as Jessica so abruptly took off. Tina noted to Natalie and Jared that she doesn't feel welcome in the house around Jessica and asked if they could put in a good word for her. After they said they'd do what they could, Sarah sensed that something else was on her mom's mind. Tina admitted that the house makes her think of Cord. Sarah asked what Cain meant when he said Tina's heart would always belong to Cord. Tina revealed that she said, "I love you, Cord" when Cain told her he loved her before they were almost beheaded. "It just slipped out!" she argued. Sarah seemed hopeful when Tina remarked that Cord was always the love of her life.

Meanwhile, over at the mansion, Clint was telling Nora about the time Tina said Cord's name when marrying Max. They all had a good laugh about it and Cord said he did end up marrying Tina one more time after that but they just weren't meant to be. Nevertheless, Clint privately noted to Nora that he doesn't think Cord ever got over Tina.

At Rodi's, Leo the contractor waltzed right up to Blair and said it must be his lucky day. She giggled and said she's not the one who made the call about the renovations. Just then, Tess showed up and introduced herself to Leo. "Still my lucky day," he winked. After Tess led him to a nearby table, Blair wondered what Jess is renovating. When Leo got fresh with Tess, she yanked on his ear to make him listen. John and Antonio arrived and split up so that John could chat with Blair. While Jessica was talking to Leo, she griped that her "pain in the ass" ex-husband just showed up. Antonio hovered in the corner clutching a photo of Talia and remarked to Brody that he's got to find a way to get her back. "I hear you," Brody nodded. Jessica gave Leo specific instructions to make himself invisible while he's working at Llanfair and said the space she needs him to renovate is very small. Meanwhile, Blair retold her embarrassing nightgown story for John, whose curiosity regarding Todd's house guest was growing.

Starr called Cole under the guise of having a question about her fall schedule. When he asked what she really wanted, she answered that she wants Cole. When she asked if they could try again, he said it's too late.

Back at Llanfair, Tess shoved Leo out of the way when Cristian was on his way out. As Jared and Natalie were heading up the stairs in a lip lock, Tess snuck in Leo. A moment later, Cord walked in and put his arms around Sarah, then came face-to-face with Tina.

Tuesday

Cord and Tina were surprised to see each other at Llanfair, but were also thrilled. An equally thrilled Sarah looked on as they hugged. Cord sensed that his two ladies were hiding something and asked to hear the entire story. After hearing about what had happened in Mendorra, Cord was furious that Tina had put their daughter in so much danger. To get Cord to stop yelling at Tina, Sarah jumped up and revealed what Tina had said when she thought she was going to die. Tina admitted that she never stopped loving Cord and she never will. He said he will always love her, too, and she got all teary and suggested they start over. They were about to kiss when he pulled away and noted that nothing had changed about Tina. "You're still looking for lost treasure, and I found mine long ago when we had C.J. and Sarah," he told her. Cord called Sarah back into the room and bid Tina good-bye as they headed out. Tina was devastated.

At the Buchanan Mansion, Nora and Clint were about to have a quiet night in when Dallas made another surprise visit. She brought by a little gift for Clint, and while he was putting it in the kitchen, Dallas explained to Nora that she quit her job and will be in town indefinitely. Without turning to face her, Nora asked Dallas if she'd come to work things out with Clint. Dallas insisted she and Clint are over, but they're still friends.

Noelle and Moe were thrilled to see Gigi at the Bonjour Café. Gigi explained that Delphina is her psychic and Del immediately wanted to touch Moe's head, sensing his "psychedelic" aura. While Gigi tried to explain to Noelle and Moe why they were there, Delphina picked up another vibe and asked how Moe's father, Jeremiah, is doing in the nursing home. Moe was speechless. Gigi pressed Delphina to tell her what needs to happen next. Delphina got a call from Professor Fina (who is apparently still alive in 2008) and instructed Gigi it's time.

In 1968, Bo and Rex watched a news report about Richard M. Nixon being close to winning the presidency and gave Professor Fina the same kind of pressure. She presented a "device" to help them locate the portal but it looked more like a TV antennae. The idea was that they get struck by lightning again if they get to the portal by midnight that night. The professor instructed Bo that he must remember everything that happened 40 years ago at the going-away party that was scheduled to take place that night.

At the ranch, Maria gathered up her clothes and headed out with Rosa. She told Clint she loves him and will see him that night, even though it was clear she was running away. "You're a part of me," Clint told her, and she said the same. Meanwhile, Dallas and Gigi made plans to crash Bo's going-away party. At the café, Maria vowed to Rosa that someday she would stand up to Asa Buchanan. Before she and Maria left for Mexico, Jeremiah gave Maria a rose for the road. In the present, Moe recalled a story his father told him about Jeremiah meeting the love of his life and letting her get away. Moe said his father had always regretted that and he doesn't want to do the same. He suddenly got down on one knee and asked, "Noelle Rosa Louisa Ortiz, will you marry me?" She jumped up and threw her arms around him, giving him a resounding yes!

John and Blair continued to discuss Todd's mystery guest, and John revealed that he thinks Todd's guest is the same invalid patient who was staying with Ramsey before he died. Meanwhile, Marty was trying to get Todd to open up about his feelings for Blair. Blair got John to agree to a date to celebrate his appointment as acting commissioner.

Gigi and Delphina arrived at the ranch and Chuck gave them Rex's cell phone. She looked at the outgoing calls and it said the last call Rex made was to Gigi on July 29, 1968. Delphina explained that they'd have to be in the exact location where Chuck found the phone for their plan to work, while Professor Fina led Rex and Bo to the same spot in 1968 where Delphina and Gigi were standing in the present. Both Rex and Gigi wanted to call each other to say good-bye in case the plan didn't work, but Delphina and Fina didn't want to waste one minute. Gigi and Rex both sat down to touch the cell phone and looked up as through they felt something.

Wednesday

In 2008 and 1968, respectively, Gigi and Rex simultaneously reached for the
spot where the cell phone was. Both felt warm as though they were touching
someone's hand.

At Rodi's, Brody insisted to a prying Layla that he's going to take the best
care of Shane and continue to pose as his dad. Layla tried to convince him
against it, but Brody was certain that he was doing the right thing. He
headed home to Shane and was clearly thrilled when Shane called him "Dad."
Before going to bed, Shane pointed out a package on the counter from
Adriana. He opened it and found the plastic bag with Rex's toothbrush
inside, with a note from Adriana urging Gigi to rethink lying about Brody
being Shane's dad.

Rex was discussing the portal with the professor when Clint whisked him off
to his going-away party. An angry Olympia cut the music and turned up the
radio report of more casualties in Vietnam. Bo did his best to act like Asa,
calling draft-dodgers "candy-ass hippies." Cue Jeremiah and his party
people, with Renee, Emma and Spencer in tow. Olympia crossed hairs with
Renee, while Spencer shot people with squirt guns and Emma flirted with Rex.
Bo listed all the things that happened at this same party the first time to
Fina. After realizing that Olympia is totally batty, Renee understood that
Asa needed a little break when he sought out Renee and her girls in Nevada,
and that he keeps his marriage together for his sons. Bo managed to convince
Renee that Asa regrets the way he treated her and Emma. While enjoying the
brownies, Clint asked Jeremiah if Maria is around, but Jeremiah informed him
that Maria had left town earlier that day. Rosa returned without Maria and
Clint asked if Asa sent her away. Rosa said Maria was sorry but didn't want
Clint to know.

Emma asked "Bo" to take a walk with her. When she wanted to dance with him
outside the barn, he said he has another lady on his mind and Emma reminds
him of her very much. He turned to face Emma and remarked how beautiful she
is. She finally got him to dance but he kept talking about Gigi, saying he
may never get a chance to tell her how he feels. "She knows," Emma suggested
just as thunder sounded in the distance. Emma told Bo not to worry, noting,
"Lightning never strikes twice in the same place." Rex returned to the party
and was about to head to the portal with Bo when Clint stopped them and told
Pa they need to have it out. "Asa" explained to Clint that Maria can't be a
part of their lives and that's just how it has to be.

Meanwhile, Gigi figured out that Rex would be drafted if he stays in 1968.
She explained her whole story about Brody and Rex to Delphina and how she'd
spun the whole war hero tale for Shane's benefit. They heard some mysterious
music and Delphina sensed it was time. Delphina even suggested that the song
is actually playing in the past and they are "crossing the fields of time."
Chuck came downstairs and said he'd found some old records and wanted to see
what his dad used to listen to in the '60s. Gigi was skeptical, but Delphina
was certain that Rex was listening to that same song right now. Gigi called
Shane to let him know she loves him and can't come home just yet. Delphina
led Gigi to the portal, which turned out to be the metal fence that Bo tried
to to jump. Delphina explained that when lightning strikes, the portal will
open and she'll have to reach for Rex and pull him back as quickly as she
could. "Hang on, I'm coming," she called out to Rex. Meanwhile, Clint was
furious and kept berating his dad, but Bo needed to get to the portal. Clint
was about to punch his dad and ended up socking Rex instead, which was
definitely going to make Rex and Bo late for the portal.

Thursday

Tess got pretty agitated when Leo was taking his sweet time with the
estimate. He said he just needed a general idea of what the room is for so
she replied, "Entertainment." He asked if it was like a music room and Tess
predicted that "she'd" be singing her heart out. Then Leo wondered just what
building a room for her sister has to do with honoring her husband's memory,
and she hinted, "Oh, trust me. They go together perfectly." Meanwhile,
Natalie entered Jared's room in skimpy lingerie, and Jared noted that they
haven't had sex since before Nash died. Natalie wondered how and when they
would ever get over feeling responsible for Nash's death. Nevertheless, it
was clear that their love had grown stronger and they started to get
intimate.

Blair's sexy John McBain fantasy was interrupted by Dorian, who asked why
Blair was wearing cucumbers on her eyes. Dorian explained that she couldn't
sleep because she was thinking of her dead husband Mel and his suggestion
that she has feelings for Charlie. Blair wondered if Dorian really does like
Charlie, but Dorian insisted that she will not sample Viki's sloppy seconds
again. Dorian was pleased to hear that Blair thinks she's over Todd, which
prompted Dorian to wonder if Blair had found a replacement. She insisted her
face mask wasn't to make herself beautiful for someone else, but Dorian
pressed on. With a girlish giggle, Blair revealed that John McBain is the
new guy in her life. Dorian was surprisingly supportive, pointing out how
smolderingly sexy John is. Blair said it didn't matter that he was totally
foxy, but that he's honest and she can appreciate that.

Roxy was having a heart-to-heart with a stuffed beaver, promising that she'd
never lie to Rex again if he took her back into her life, when Charlie
walked in Roxy mid-vow. She tearfully admitted to Charlie that she's scared
because Rex left town and she doesn't know where he is. John arrived just in
time to witness them in a tight hug. Roxy handed him some extra towels,
noting that his new girlfriend might stay over again. Charlie chastised her
for prying into John's personal life. Intent on razzing Roxy, John made up
an amusing (and totally out of character) story about a kinky threesome.
Charlie pointed out to a gullible Roxy that John was only kidding. Before
Charlie turned in for the night, Roxy thanked him for listening and said she
really wishes Charlie was Rex's dad. Meanwhile, Blair left the room to wash
up, so Dorian picked up her phone and dialed John. Pretending to be someone
with a cockney accent, she handed the phone to Blair. John and Blair were
both surprised to hear the other on the line.

As the time to open the portal got closer, Delphina explained to Gigi that
Rex made it through the portal because he got struck my lightning. Gigi
didn't understand and was afraid that Rex was hurt. She wanted to head to a
local hospital rather than go through some "bogus" portal to find him.
Delphina suddenly got a vibe that Rex is "horizontal" and urged Gigi to stay
and wait so she can pull him into 2008.

As the professor tried desperately to wake up Rex, Clint wanted to know why
"Asa" was in such a hurry to get him and "Bo" out of there. Bo did his best
Asa impersonation and tried to usher Clint back into the party, so Clint
barked at Asa to go to see his hookers at the brothel, blaming him for their
mother's mental state. Clint stormed off and Bo managed to get Rex to the
fence. It began to furiously storm and the professor instructed Bo to grab
the fence while Rex holds the cell phone in the air. In the present,
Delphina told Gigi to do the same. Gigi was scared so Delphina gave her a
pep talk about finding real love. Meanwhile, Rex tried to chicken out, too,
but Bo advised him to be strong. All three held on and lightning struck both
phones at once.

Friday

Starr came back to her room with a midnight snack and went to close an open window. When she turned around, Todd emerged from her closet and startled her. "Don't scream!" he whispered, then presented her with a handmade voodoo doll of Cole — you know, just in case she wanted to inflict any damage on her ex. Starr taunted him because Cole's no longer his ally anymore, but Todd explained that he wants her baby to be a part of their lives and admitted that being without Sam is tearing him apart. Starr insisted that she will make up her mind about what's right for her unborn child.

Unaware that Todd was paying Starr a secret visit, Blair flirted with John on the phone and tried to explain that their "hooking up" didn't stay a secret for long in the Cramer house, so that's why Dorian called him. When he casually suggested she come over, she was shocked but got gussied up in no time. Starr covered for her dad and pretended to be asleep when her mom knocked on the door. Over at the Angel Square Hotel, a pair of handcuffs marked the way to John's room, while Starr tossed the voodoo doll in Todd's direction as he let himself out.

Just as Chuck suggested that Nixon's nomination could mean an end to the war, lightning struck and the power went out. At the same time, Gigi and Rex held onto their cell phones and got struck by lightning. Sparks flew, and both Delphina and Fina were left standing alone by the fence. Fina thought his experiment had worked because Bo and Rex weren't around, until he turned and saw Rex lying lifeless against a fence. He started to come to, calling out for Gigi, and was shocked (no pun intended) to find out he was still in 1968 — and Bo wasn't. Meanwhile, Delphina found Bo lying in the grass in the present. She woke him up and explained who she is, insisting that Rex should be there, too. But he was nowhere to be seen and Delphina sensed that the portal had closed.

In the past, Fina explained to Rex that he let go of the cell phone while Bo was being transported to the future and their conduit is now lost. They both walked back to the house, not realizing that Gigi was also lying in the grass. Back at the ranch, Spencer told a scary story about "Mad Margaret" and had everyone spooked. It ended, of course, with a pair of scissors in their hero's back. Meanwhile, Fina broke it to Rex that he may be stuck in the past forever. Rex couldn't come to terms with the possibility that he'd have to keep living Bo's life and later came across a drunken Clint, who advised "Bo" to be whoever he wants to be and not what Asa wants. Clint expressed his desire to be a journalist, so Rex suggested he try out the newspapers in Eastern Pennsylvania (wink, wink). Clint left Rex leaning against the doorway, just as Gigi approached it from the other side.

At the Buchanan mansion, Cole beat Matthew at a video game and teased that there'd be nothing but swirlies for him at Llanview High. He assured Cole that that wouldn't happen because he's friends with Starr and no one crosses her, then realized he'd upset Cole by bringing her up. Cole said it was okay, and explained to an inquisitive Matthew why he and Cole broke up. Matthew mentioned his worries that his dad hadn't been in touch in weeks, and was elated when the phone suddenly rang and it was Bo! Matthew admitted that he was scared when no one had heard from Bo.
