Nice To Meet You, Kimberly Matula!

Get acquainted with the actress who’s now playing a teenage Hope Logan.Soap Opera Digest: What has your B&B experience been like so far?

Kimberly Matula: Fantastic. This is my first soap and I’ve been having a really great time. Everybody here is so welcoming and helpful.

Digest: How did this gig happen?

Matula: I had actually tested first with YOUNG AND RESTLESS, for the role of Daisy. It came down to three of us but I didn’t book that job. A couple of weeks later, I was told that I had an audition for B&B. I did two auditions and they booked me. It was a short process, which I greatly appreciated!

Digest: What was your reaction when you found out that you got the role?

Matula: I was so stoked. My agent and manager called me at the same time to tell me. I was pacing around my room because I was going to find out that day so I was waiting for the phone call. When they called me, I flipped out. I did a little scream, then a little dance. After that, I couldn’t stop walking because I was so full of energy. I didn’t know what to do with myself.

Digest: What was your first day like?

Matula: It was wonderful. I was nervous about being late, so I was early. I’ve always been worried about being late for things, so I’m 30-40 minutes early for everything. That’s a habit I’ll keep going. When I got to the set, they said, “You know, we’re really not ready yet.” I was so anxious to start.

Digest: Your first scene was with Ronn Moss [Ridge] and Katherine Kelly Lang [Brooke]. How did that go?

Matula: I couldn’t have asked for a better situation. They’re so easy to work with. They made me feel very comfortable and that’s a great way to start a new job.

Digest: How would you describe the character of Hope?

Matula: To me, she is a down-to-earth girl and very family oriented. She’s very sweet and she doesn’t want to put anyone in a bad place. If there’s a malicious intent behind something, then she doesn’t want anything to do with that. She doesn’t want to hurt anyone. If there’s an issue, she wants to talk it out.

Digest: So we don’t see any hints of badness that she may have inherited from her biological dad, Deacon?

Matula: No. For now, she’s a good girl.

Digest: But Steffy doesn’t like Hope much?

Matula: Not really, but Hope loves her stepsister. Steffy is jealous that Hope is taking up Ridge’s time and attention.

Digest: The CBS studios can be very confusing. Have you gotten lost yet?

Matula: No. I have a pretty good sense of direction. And if I get lost, I just act like I know where I’m going.
