This is getting so absurd!
I was surprised how little use these two characters have gotten since they returned, but there was so much blown opportunity for them.
First, I have to say that I would have found Steve more interesting had he come back and Kayla not also brought back. It immediately limited what could be done with the characters. Steve tends to be much more interesting in adventure / rebel mode rather than enamored husband / father mode.
And I hate to say this but there is NO FIRE between these two on screen anymore. It could be the poor writing since their return but I have just not found them compelling in the least.
I think leaving Kayla off canvas, except for maybe a brief visit to establish that she had established a new and solid life off screen would have served Steve's character better.
I am sorry for these two actors but think they were woefully underserved since their return.
Not surprised by this turnn of events at all.
It almost seems like the powers that be are tying up all the tie up loose ends with all the old characters in preparation for the shows cancellation.
Sad really.
Quote:I'm beginning to see the agenda here. Apparently, TPTB at Days are getting rid of all the adults and leaving the show to the one-dimensional minors. Soon, they'll have to change the name to Babes Of Our Lives because all the characters in the forefront are barely out of school. Anyone over 40 has become expendable. Those of us who have watched for decades find it hard to recognize the DOOL we know and loved. If we want to watch teeny boppers, we'll turn the channel to Disney. Can you hear that? It's the death toll. I just returned to DOL after many years of not watching. It breaks my heart that the character's I can identify with are being sent a packing. Who's next? Bo & Hope? I love your title "Babes of our Lives" new daytime version of 90210. I really don't identify with these younger characters, whiners, manipulators, all of them. They're ok when balanced equally with older mature couples, but alone? I guess this & other soaps are really in danger of going the way of dinosours, extinction is a sad possiblity.
