Quote:LC, you raise a very good point and you remind me that I DID ask everyone to move Luke and Noah airtime discussion to the Luke and Noah thread.

I'm going to reiterate that now and enforce it. For the sake of not having to all congregate here in my one thread, here's what I'm going to do:

1. Ask that all Luke/Noah/airtime conspiracy discussion stay in the "I Miss Luke and Noah" thread.

2. I'll create an Episode Discussion thread, so we can all dish daily episodes there.

3. This thread will continue to exist as the "Ask Mala" thread, but I'll also be popping into the other ones to monitor and answer questions.

Does that work for everyone?

I just want to streamline things and make it easier for everyone to find the topics they're looking for!

It works for me, Mala. I agree with LC in that the constant and ongoing whining and complaining about this was wearing (and grating).... and I even started avoiding the site, which is a shame because this can be an upbeat and fun place to visit. And as LC said, you can't express an opposing viewpoint on this subject without being attacked and mocked. So if it's going to be there, it will be very easy to avoid that thread (since I was already doing so anyway). And a episode discussion thread is great as well since many of us actually watch and enjoy the entire show daily and aren't just focused on the minutes (and apparently seconds) of one couple/storyline.

I assume though that if Luke and Noah are on an episode (like they'll be on Monday), discussion of the *events* of that show will be fine in the episode discussion thread.... as long it remains on topic?

Thank you, Mala! And thank you LC for suggesting it.

Discussion of Luke and Noah in the episode thread is fine, as long as it's about the content. Airtime issues should stay in their own thread.

I've said it before: I understand the frustration that some Nuke fans feel, but it has made this thread in particular hard to navigate, as the same complaints are brought up over and over mere posts apart and any other discussion or question gets buried.

I think separating things out (this is, after all, a message board and we have plenty of room for separate threads!) will help keep things flowing and moving, so everyone can get what they need out of being here and posting.

Let me know if we need any other "stock threads" or feel free to create them yourselves! We do already have a Holden/Lily thread, a Paul/Meg thread, etc.

And WorldTurner and glorysun, I tend to think of GL and ATWT as a package deal, so if one is picked up, the other is, too. I don't know what the particulars are, but from a corporate standpoint, you'd think P&G would want to back either two soaps or none. And I think that's the fear for DAYS, because it's the only show left on NBC and how long can it possibly last solo?

I have just read the interview that JP did on AfterElton and I just have to say that I have a new found respect for her or any headwriter for that matter. I really think that I can see where she is coming because I edit my own videos and there are times that you have to make some tough decisions and that goes the same for the writers. A really good example would be Monday's episode because it was good storytelling.

Mala now that Josie has been cast as per the ATWT newsletter and appears to be a Jennifer look-a-like and not Lucy as many suspected, will you have more news soon on what that story is going to be or about her?

glorysun - a head writer's job is tough and I don't think many people think about what goes into the day to day operations of soap writing and soap filming. I have great respect for people behind the scenes of these shows, because they pull off some amazing things.WorldTurner - I do have information about that upcoming storyline and will be releasing it in the magazine as it plays out. Also, starting tomorrow, I will be taking a brief, but long overdue vacation! So if anyone needs anything, PM WEEKLYJoe. He'll be checking in while I'm gone just to make sure things are going smoothly.I'll be back on Monday.

Mala:Thank you for the terrific and informative interview with Van. The storyline sounds absolutely fantastic and very relevant to our real world. It's actually much better than I imagined it to be when I first heard about it, nor is it taking the predictable route I thought it might. I love that Luke is acting like a college student and getting involved in the kind of college activities that students do (I should know, I was in student government in college). I also like that it's not about Luke being worried about Noah or losing Noah or whatever with Noah. We've had enough of that, thank you. As much as I like Noah and am a fan of the couple, Luke's life has been all about Noah since he met the guy and it's refreshing that they are opening up Luke's world and giving him more to do than just that. Though.... I hope there's not a breakup on the horizon! It sounds as if the writers actually put some thought behind the story and that it has direction and meaning. And there are no outlandish plot devices like your boyfriend marrying Iraqi refugees or your boyfriend's father trying to kill you (at least not yet). Not only are they tapping into Luke's history of bad behavior, but the crux of the story is that Luke is going to grow up and mature and become an adult with all the ramifications that entails. I also love hearing that it's going to affect not just his life, but the lives around him (Noah, his family, et all). Luke has been isolated for so long and given his status as a core character not to mention his ties to half the town, those entanglements need to be used to give story more depth and meaning. It's been awhile since Van has had some meaty material to sink his acting teeth into and I expect he'll turn in some dynamic performances.Again, thank you for the interview. I don't think I'm the only one out there excited about this new story for Luke.

I'm excited too! I hope Luke, Noah, Casey and Alison will keep interacting with each other, because it only makes sense since they're in the same age group. I do wonder if they have something for Aaron to do or if he will go back to the backburner.Luke's self-destructive behavior comes back? Great! LOL Maybe he will start drinking again or something. Noah never saw this part of Luke so it should be interesting.Mala, I hope you're enjoying your vacation. But I have a question for when you are back: Have we seen the last of James/Anthony?

Hey, Guys! I'm back and ready to tackle the wacky world of soaps once more. I didn't look at a computer once all weekend; it was lovely.Mark - You know how it is with James Stenbeck, we've never seen the last of him. However, I don't know if he'll be back this fall/winter. Anthony - Glad you liked the interview. It was a nice little chat and I, too, am so glad to see Luke and the gang doing normal soap teen/20-something stuff. I think it's refreshing to have a story that isn't necessarily relationship driven and it's just fun and timely.

Welcome back Mala! Glad you had a great time!LOL now admit the timing of this was no coincidence so you would be out of town when you know what hit the fans when the spoilers came out last week! Suffice it to say there are a lot of furious CarJackers and sadly a lot of DVR's were deprogrammed for ATWT and it was taken off a lot of viewing schedules. Hopefully there will be better news coming soon.

Mala, Dusty is a character I can take or leave (actually, my feelings about him depend on his storyline and while I've enjoyed his other stories.... I hate his current one -- I really hope this is just a trick by Craig and not another return from the dead), but I did enjoy the interview you had with him in this week's SOW. He seems like a cool guy. And I liked his comment about being Noah's father.

I have to agree. I normally really like Dusty and all of his side-ways looking gruff self-appointed hero stuff but I don' t get this whole story. Don't get me wrong, I really like that he's back...I just don't understand the point of this story. On another note, I'm a huge Carjacker fan but I really really like Janet and Jack together. I know I'm gonna get hate mail but they're darn cute. Whether they make it or not, I can't say. I still can take or leave Liberty.

smokey - I don't know if he's a fan of GREEK, but I do remember mentioning to him back in 2007 that Spencer had a new show where she was playing a sorority girl and that it was good stuff. You have confirmation he started watching it? I love that show. It's one of my favorites. Also? Who wouldn't be hot for Amber Stevens? She's gorgeous!

Well, with Holden going on and on about Aaron finding a way to avoid Ali and turning his life in a new direction or something like that, the handwriting is on the wall regarding Aaron, IMO. And unless they're going to bring on a new girl for him, there's really nothing for him to do.

Hello Mala. I'm new here, but I'm following your reviews and opinions about ATWT since a long time, and especially when they are about my favourite couple : Nuke. I read Jean Passanante's previews about Nuke's storyline for this fall and she said that Nuke will have complications that will take them in a "new direction". Please, can you give us your opinion about this "new direction" ? I really hope Nuke will not break up one more time and that Noah will be by Luke's side to help him whatever the problems he created. Thanks, Mala.

As for my opinion about the "new direction," I'm afraid it's not a popular one. For me, personally, I like it when Noah and Luke are at odds because it gives them more meaty material to play with. So the very legitimate conflict that the election brings up in them really intrigues me. I just talked to Jake Silbermann yesterday about upcoming story, so look for that tease to hit stands next week. He had a lot of interesting insight!

It's fun to get different perspectives from the actors on their stories. Jack's take vs. Janet's, Luke's vs. Noah's. I had a lot of fun this summer doing that with John McCook and Brandon Beemer on B&B since their characters both love Donna. It keeps things interesting!

Which reminds me, this week's issue has Luke stuff, so be sure to pick that up, too! (All my weeks start to run together after a while. Plus, I think I need some more coffee this morning.)

I'm one of those viewers who love it when Luke and Noah are at odds and have conflict with each other and wish we'd see more of that. Unlike most couples in this show they've spent much of their time together *together* as a couple, even when there was a problem between them like Luke being paralyzed or when Ameera was in town. For me, they were at their most interesting during the breakup arc. Like you say, being at odds gives them meaty material to play with and to be honest they haven't had much of that over the past year. So I'm looking forward to whatever crises are to come. And I'll be sure to check out your interview with Jake! Oh and whatever you have on Luke this week as well!

Sage is doing this because she wants her parents back together, but I suspect Parker is doing this because Liberty tells them since they're going to be step siblings they can't date anymore (I guess being cousins wasn't enough of a reason) and this is his way of trying to get her back. And regarding Ameera, unlike a lot of people I liked her and I still believe she had a place in Oakdale (just not as Noah's wife).

I think Ameera was a huge lost opportunity, Mark. I've expressed before, and at length, my disappointment that they didn't write her better, that they didn't flesh her out beyond submissive stereotypes. She could easily have stuck around and begun something with Casey or Aaron, and been a true inspiration in terms of being daytime's first visible Muslim character.
