sadly I found it to be a big joke.. ....Sesame Street was major overkill.....lame..boring..too long.. over kill....waste of at least ten minutes of my time.....the whole "poverty" thing...yet again overkill...I tuned in to watch an AWARD show...not a UNICEF/childrens show/Broadway production....just MY opinion....NOW i know WHY I dont like Vincent Irizarry!
Nymphie, I am reading between the lines, and I get the feeling that deep down you did not like the show.
I know the daytime emmys were bad, but it isn't just about our soaps. Sesame Street played a huge part in my childhood along with others. It was nice to pay tribute to an iconic tv show. Was it long? Yes. Still Sesame Street is a mainstay for Children's progaramming. Come on people, we are in a huge recession, and you are complaining because it looked tacky. They can't spend the money they use to for the awards show. Unemployment is almost at 10%, and you want them to be all glitzy and happy.

I just wanted SOMETHING INTERESTING.. NO ONE had to spend a fortune...and as for Sesame.. Yea. it was an iconic part of MY life growing up, and a great tool for children. just not somethign that needed THAT much time devoted to it....sorry. i DO NOT share your opinion on that, but we can always agree to disagree
I was at the emmy's and it had it's good points and bad points..
I thought there was way too much filler (why did we need to see Vanessa and Gilles dancing..when neither person had anything to do with daytime TV) and I would rather hear the actor's speechs to hear what they have to say.
I was happy with some of the winners and less so with others. I was thrilled that AMC...my favorite soap for years..did not win best writing or best show this past year, though they often deserved it in the past and didn't get it. This year Charles Pratt has practically ruined the show for me..and I was happy people didn't "award him" a trophy for his talents which IMO is practically non-existent in terms of soap opera writing.
I was happy that Vincent, Susan H from OLTL won their cateogories and sad that Thorsten Kaye and Alicia Minshew lost in theirs.
But I LOVED the Sesame Street stuff. They are celebrating 40 years on Television..that's quite an achievement. And if they had more time, I could have sat through more clips.
And yes we all have our opinions but I don't think dissing or badmouthing Susan Lucci as a person is appropriate.. period.
Just MY opinion.
I was just happy the show was on tv! Yes, it was weaker than in years past, but it was put togethor on relatively short notice.

The CW happens to be a part of our tv lineup where I reside; however, did anyone else notice that a lot of the 2 hour show was interrupted more times than I care for commercials? When Julie Berman won and went up on stage to give her speech, the show decided to take about a 15 minute commercial break. I thought perhaps there had been a malfunction at the station, but no, this continued to be the case for most of the show. TPTB decided we as viewers didn't really need to celebrate The Guiding Light with cast members up on stage, whom I hadn't seen since 1992! As soon as Betty White turned around to introduce the cast of GL, the show yet again was interrupted by commercials and never returned. Also, most everyone in the audience looked rather bored. I gave it a go, because I wanted the show to raise good ratings, so that next year we might see it on network TV. I hope someone can turn it around next year and show more clips of the actors in the shows they have been nominated for. Congratulations to the winners though, although I'm sure for everyone there were some "huh's". It was nice to see B&B win.
I was stunned to learn that B&B won for best soap!!! What is wrong with the voting panel or whoever votes. B&B is the lamest soap there is and it gives the remaining good soaps a bad rap. B&B just rehashes storylines over and over again. Brooke , Ridge, Taylor, they make me gag. There is no thing new about them.. it is a darn merry go round. Yawn city! I can't stand Brooke, she is just plain stupid and acts oh so innocent when confronted but has no problems butting into everyone else's lives and thinks that she has all the answers. Give me a break, she is a B...H .
Well the CW was trying to get viewers, they didn't care about the awards and who was getting them. Their main objective was to try to get new viewers, hence all the commercials. They wanted to push the CW end of story. It is like the old joke I went to a fight and a hockey game broke out. I watched commercials and low and behold a few awards were handed out...
I agree they used poor judgement about certain stuff though.I loved seeing the clips of the actors who were nominated for awards..which they did at the beginning of the show for the secondary actors but by the time we got to the lead actors, there was no time and we had to settle for the names only. I understand why they stick "entertainment" in the show..I thought the opening number with Vanessa Williams was clever..as it incorporated many of the shows who were nominated and showcased. But the dancing with Gilles and Vanessa was totally irrelevant and was a big waste of time considering they were already short on time. It's pretty common for the first people to get awards to have more time to speak when they are nominated..but someone should plan better...and take that into consideration. It alawys seems like the people in the most important cateogories have the least amount of time at all award shows. At the theatre, the overhead announcer kept telling people to move it along..as on the CW, they were not going to be allowed to run over in time. It was going to end when it was going to end..so everyone got a lot of notice but by then it was too late. It was a big rush at the end..but I think we in the theatre probably saw more than the viewers at home did.Anyway..I hope someone learned what worked and what didn't work from all this for next year.

Are you kidding me, not again. Really silly. You didn't say anything bad about her just the show. I thought that was okay.

To those who didn't even know the show was on......
TRrust me.. you missed NOTHING.. it was the most boringest, most pathetic, most lamest show i think I have ever watched... It was on Last night, on the CW network.. Hell, I dont even have THAT network in MY area.. Had to use satelite to locate a CW up in NEW YORK.....
Billy Miller and Elizabeth Hendrickson (aka Billy and Chloe, on Y & R) walked on, did a presentation, and IN THE MIDDLE OF IT walked off the stage, then rushed back cause they were NOT finished and NEVER ANNOUNCED their category.........Camera guys kept "focusing in " On a friggen wall......Vanessa Williams, the host, kept "rolling her eyes" at different things.......They did a stupid "40 year anniversary" to SESAME STREET....Was on too long, took up too much time, was not really entertaining in the least, and truly bored me to the point I changed the channel.....just as I did during their Lame attempt to try and pull at my heart strings for starving people around the world....Note to susan Lucci......when you do a heart felt sentamental piece, try NOT to act.....
Was just a true WASTE OF MY TWO HOURS.......
