As a longtime DAYS viewer, I am really loving the tribute to Alice and seeing all the old faces in Salem. Though it might not be the happiest occasion, it’s been great to have (so far) Melissa, Jennifer, Marie, Laura, Lucas and Kayla back. But I have to make special mention of John Martin, who is fitting in so seamlessly as Bill. Dare I say that his scenes are affecting me the most? It would be hard for any recast to come into this story, since it hinges on the longtime relationships these characters have to Alice, but it’s like Martin has played the role forever. His emotional talks with Jen, Lucas, Nathan and Maggie have had just the right amount of weight and sentiment. With Bill as the de facto patriarch of the Horton clan, Martin had a lot of pressure on him to make it ring true. Kudos to him for doing just that.
