I miss her and Robin Mattson. Can't they get her medication right and bring her back not so loopy??? How many stunt castings are we going to have to suffer through?
Surely she can be an accountant at Fusion or something...date Jack...
I loved the Robin Mattson version better as well....she wasn't so over the top crazy....I don't know why Kate Collins plays Janet this way. She wasn't this loopy back when the character originated, so I don't know where this cartoon version came from.
Janet was always crazy. Well there was a time she was okay but basically crazy. Love Kate Collins. I love Robin but she needs to be on GH as Heather.
When Robin Mattson played Janet, they wrote that Trevor and Amanda's love for her, helped her with sanity issues. But when Kate Collins played her, Janet was always nutty. In fact, I absolutley love her. I can't have her as Natalie, so I will have to take this. In fact, Natalie was the main reason I watched this show, Kate mesmerized me with her mannerisms, the way she spoke her dialogue, and the way she used those big expressive eyes. But I digress. Janet was extremely loopy by the time she killed Will. She really was over the top. We love Robin's performance because she played Janet for a long time and she played Janet as a person who was really trying to be redeemed and was sorry for the awful things she had done. But despite the various writers, one thing I will say they have always managed to stay true to Janet's history and character. She is a character who longs to be loved unconditionally, and has a tremendous amount of love for her daughter, who remains all these years later, the center of her universe. Remember when Janet found out she was pregnant, she had already decided to name her Amanda. And when she would speak to her in the womb, she would always call her "LIttle Amanda". That was a riot.
I realize that she was always loopy, but it seems like she's even more loopy than normal. And don't get me wrong, I love Kate Collins, but I love her more as Natalie than I do Janet. I wish AMC would have brought on a triplet sister that we didn't know existed, and have her be more like Natalie. And I guess I agree with you about Robin Mattson....her version of Janet was more human....she made the audience sympathize with her more. She was crazy, but she didn't play Janet as completely loopy....guess that's why i like her as Janet. I just wish AMC would just focus more on her and Amanda, and give us a few days without having to show Ryan or Greenlee. Can we please have a break from them? If you're looking for other characters to feature...try giving the Cortdlands a storyline. Hell, bring in a new, INTERESTING family....just give us a Ryan and Greenlee break.
I totally agree with you..Robin Mattson made you love Janet. I don't mind Kate Collins and love reading articles with her, but Janet's so cartoonish now that it's very hard to appreciate. I guess whomever wrote recently that the demo was 12-17 is probably right.Didn't Janet have an affair with Palmer? Maybe they had a love child she forgot about.
yep, she did. wouldn't that be a hoot if they rewrote history and had Janet have a baby by Palmer.
And for all those Tim Dillon fans he could help her find her new child. Maybe a rival for Amanda....gosh....remember Amanda when she blew through town? I remember her trampy self trying to seduce JR....her forgotten sister could be even more fun.
Yeah, she can be a little cartoonish, but I swear the show yesterday broke my heart. Amanda is really afraid of her mother. And I loved seeing Janet with Trevor. She is such an adorable grandmother, albeit a cuckoo for cocoa puffs grandmother. I really found myself rooting for Janet. Those were the only scenes I wasn't fast forwarding yesterday. It made me wish she was on full time. I was reading that the arrangement she has with the show was one she wished she could have had when she first left the show. She stated it probably wouldn't have worked back then, but it works today. I guess with the fact that she was not getting along with James Kiberd (rumor has it), she wanted to be able to start and raise her family. I am like you though. I am sick to death of Greenlee and Ryan. And because of the way he has been written for the last year and a half, I sick of David. That is one of the reasons, I wished they would bring Dixie back. David is so much more interesting when he is obsessing over her. The only women I have ever liked David with were Erica, Anna, and Dixie. He showed more human vulnerability when he was dealing with those three women. They were able to bring out sides of him that no other women have been able to bring out. Especially Dixie. His love for her was truly profound. I know there are people who will say Anna was the love of his life, but he pulled some outrageous stunts to be with Dix. And it was not as easy for him to walk away from her as it was with Anna. Oh, I am getting off topic.I hope they will use Janet to maximum effect with Amanda this time. Her returns are usually entertaining, but there is really no story or character advancement. Hopefully, it will truly affect Amanda and Jake, and maybe even a few more characters. And I want to see her scenes with Erica, they should be a blast. Kate and Susan used to have gloriously bitchy chemistry.
I was recently thinking (because when Greenlee is on the screen you let your mind wander as opposed to paying attention) that Erica brought out another side to David and so did Dixie. I didn't get the whole Anna/David thing. I found them both to be far too cold.
I may be in the minority with this one, but I loved David & Anna together. I think she was a much tougher cookie for him to crack, and I felt like she really loved him. As far as Dixie is concerned, I'm not for sure if she was ever trully in love with him....it was more about him pursuing her, and sticking it to Tad at the same time. It's fun to watch the two guys feud it out over Dixie, but ultimately, I want Dixie with Tad, not David.....those two trully loved each other, and AMC needs more couples like them, cause they don't have any, right now.
I feel you on that one. I liked Anna and David together also. Their relationship was totally different from his other ones as that they got one another and she didn't take any flak from him. PERIOD!!! It was just so damn fascinating watching David chase Dixie. It was like he had tunnel vision and couldn't see anything else. I guess because when the writing was spot on with those two, it truly did affect the entire show. And those are the types of stories I like. Stories that sweep across a show and affect a lot of characters.I cried after watching yesterday's show. Janet broke my heart. It got to the core of what I posted earlier about Janet. Her love for Amanda is all encompassing. And I like that Jake didn't rake her over the coals. He showed her sympathy and empathy. It was like he truly understood the place that she was coming from. And as I said before, I just love how Kate Collins uses those big expressive beautiful eyes and how she speaks her lines. It reminds me of how much she is missed on this show. She brought it and Ricky Paul Golldin brought it too. Those scenes were the only ones I didn't fast forward through. Man, I wished the show could put together something like that for an entire show on a regular basis. Because for the first time in a long time, and this included all the tributes to the greats (Myra, Phoebe, and Palmer) , those Janet scenes were the ones that have moved me the most in the past few years on this show. Well, with the exception of any ghost Dixie scenes. Janet is crazy, but Jake didn't treat her like she was crazy. He treated her with understanding and compassion and it was something that she connected with. And I loved seeing her with Erica. And I loved that Erica didn't talk badly about Janet either. A tribute to their long ago friendship perhaps. To me, what it those scenes did, was humanize Kate's Janet, and made me root for her BIG TIME!!!! If the previous regime had written those types of scenes for Annie after she went cuckoo, then maybe she would have rooting value to a few more fans.
Oh I have to disagree... Anna on AMC stunk, she was too different from her Anna on GH, that for me was not a good cross over at all..FH sholud have played a different part or stayed the sister. Whoever wrote for Anna must not have watched her on GH.
Well, we will have to agree to disagree on this one, because I loved Anna, and I thought FH did a wonderful job while on the show. I have always wanted for them to bring her back....but now would probably not be a good time, since the writers can't seem to write themselves out of a wet paper bag.
I don't think I would want them to bring her back either. Judging from the past 3 years, they would probably ruin Anna and maybe even kill her off. I could actually see them doing that. And that is sad that people have so little faith in any writing regime for this show. I hope the new writers bring it because I don't understand why no one can write for this show. People go to other shows and bring those show up by the bootstraps, but for some unknown reason, AMC has a hard time getting quality writing. Maybe because it is so newbie heavy and the writers just can't get the oldies but goodies. I haven't seen today's show. Have they shown Janet, she is the only reason I am watching this week. I read she is on for 8 episodes, so once they are over, I may tune out again.
I didn't watch all of today....they started showing Greenlee, Ryan, David, Madison, JR & Marissa and I couldn't take it. I definitely agree that the show is way too newbie heavy. What they need to do is bring on some more veteran players. If they are determined to show Annie, then give her a set of parents...if they're still alive, I can't remember. If they have to show Marissa, bring on the parents that raised her. If they have to show Greenlee, bring back Mary Smythe. If they are gonna waste time with Scott & JR, then bring back Ross Chandler to head up the family. These are ways to bring on vets and revive the history of the show....or at least give characters like Borissa & the much hated Annie some more of a back history...or what I like to call, "doing some character building." JMO
Annie's father is alive but her mom is dead. Both of Marissa's adoptive parents died in a car crash. I was just thinking that the writers said that they were going to introduce new Courtlandts. What does that mean? Why would they do that when you still have Ross alive somewhere, along with Nina, Michael (Nina's son), Bobby Warner, Sam Grey, Melanie, Del, and Pete? If you want drama, why not put JR in the middle. There are only two characters alive who are both Chandler and Courtlandt by blood and that is JR and Ross. They could also bring back Andrew Preston, who killed Natalie's husband Alex by mistake trying to kill Ross just so that he could be Palmer's only male heir (Palmer adopted him when he was married to Ross' ex-wife Cynthia). He went to prison and hasn't been seen since, but what if Palmer decided that he should be given another chance? Those are the only Courtlandt relatives I will accept. The only way I would accept a new Courtlandt relative if it is a long lost son that Daisy said she had given birth to after Palmer drove her away. Other than that, I could accept recasts of all of those roles except Nina. I probably would accept a new Ross even though Robert Gentry was memorable in the role.
I forgot who is ROSS chandler?
Ross is the son of Palmer and Lottie, the sister of Adam/Stuart. He was married to Ellen, but Ellen was busy with her ex husband, so Ross soon developed a relationship for his father's nurse, who just so happened to be Natalie, at that time. They had an affair. Ellen found out and left him. Natalie soon rejected him and accepted Palmer's marriage proposal.....Ross became angry and raped Natalie....Julie, the daughter of Ross heard what happened...Ross was convicted. He later repented and mended fences with his loved ones. He was released from Prison and left Pine Valley....he hasn't been back since. He has a ton of history on the show, and it would be nice to have him come back into town....maybe even bring another child that he has had since he has been gone.
Exactly. That way, you could shore up the Courtlandts and indirectly the Chandlers. In fact, Ross' child could be a son who falls for Marissa or Annie, infuriating JR and causing them to compete for love and in business, which would put Ross in the middle since JR is his cousin. Meanwhile, Ross could fall for Krystle, who would fall for him but be torn because of his past. That in turn would make David jealous and put him in conflict with Ross. Meanwhile, Tim Dillon could come back to town, reconnect with Amanda, and plot revenge on Ross for raping Natalie, and the Chandlers for the way Adam tricked Natalie into marrying him for her fortune after Palmer ruined him. He does this by taking the money that Natalie left because she was rich when she died, building an empire, and using it to go after Chandler Enterprises and Courtlandt Electronics. Meanwhile, he could fall in love with Kendall, which would put him in Erica's orbit, who would not approve because Erica being Erica, would not forget the drama Natalie caused her and Jeremy, and would put her in conflict with Kendall. Tim would use his influence to get the casino and Cambias back for Kendall since Ryan has no business having them from the start, and Tim would have rivalries with almost every male on the show as a result of his machinations. He would have Natalie's best and worst qualities, which would make him a truly complex character. Because of all of these storyline possiblities, viewers start coming back in droves because the writing will be so good, the show will be using and honoring its history and viewers will start tuning back in, resulting in higher ratings, and a Soap Opera Digest Award to AMC for Best Show and Most Improved Show. Boo-Yah
One more thing, since we all love Kate Collins so much, she could return as a Nat sister, who competes with Krystle for Ross, but her ulterior motive would be to destroy Ross because of Natalie's rape. Also, to seek some type of justice for the wrongs she feels that Pine Valley done to Janet. She would have a daughter who would bond with Amanda and be embroiled in a love triangle with Scott and Peter Courtlandt. Opal's son Adrian would come back to support Opal during all of this upheaval and fall for Angie, who would unexpectedly find herself drawn to him, but eventually he would fall in love with Natalia, causing major drama with him and Jesse.
Now, that's what I'm talking about!!! Here's hoping that the new people over at AMC read these posts and use these ideas. I would love to see Adrian come back and cause a rift between the Hubbards....and of course I love the idea of another Marlowe sister popping into town.
Thank you. I aim to please. And I just want what's best for the show because I have been watching this show since I was 11 and I want it to succeed. The best way for it to do that is to use its history. that is why young and the restless has been number one for so long. It uses it's history. And it still has at least 12 veterans with over 10 years of experience and some of those have had 15 or more years of experience. So do the math.
I hear you, and I feel exactly the same way. I so want the show to succeed, but as long as they ignore the rich history of the show, they never will. I also agree with the Y&R comparison...the reason why that show has been number 1 since 1988 is because they focus on the history of the show and they use that to drive the show. Y&R is a story driven show....and AMC is not. It's character driven...and a big problem with that is the fans aren't too crazy about most of the characters on the show....and also that there aren't enough veteran characters on the show either.
I have to admit that the scenes with Janet in the hospital really touched me. I could feel the stress and heartbreak of Amanda and Janet. So sad, so scary, so good!
As I posted before, those scenes and anything with Angie were the only ones I watched. When Janet started crying while talking with Jake I was devastated. And when Angie called David a cockroach, I jumped and screamed YES!!
I don't see how they redeem her (after killing Trevor) to bring her back full time.
Janet was crazy when she killed Trevor. She was clearly not on her meds. There is a way to bring her back. She could go through a strenous rehab program with intense outpatient treatment to work on her demons.
I love your passion for the character but daytime does not play the beats long enough for such a thing to happen. Look how quickly everything plays out these days....except getting rid of useless characters. Oof...those things last forever on AMC!
I have been a Janet fan, but when they had her kill Trevor that really set me off. Even though it had been years since Trevor had been on I have wonderful memories of him. Those were the days AMC was at its best for me. He was one of those I had always hoped would be brought back and the writers ruined that. To me the writers again messed up not one but two of great characters. I still wold love to see Tim come back if they would write him to be a lot like his dad.
Good old Uncle Pork Chop! Who didn't love Trevor! Yes, having Janet kill Trevor ruined both characters for me. I love "Janet from another planet", she was crazy, but fun crazy! And I had hoped that Trevor would come back also. But when they had Janet kill him, it made her crazy not so fun any more...
To me, it made absolutely no sense for them to kill off Trevor. I mean, Janet was always so crazy about Trevor.....look at all the crazy things she did over the years, to get Trevor in her life. It was a dumb move for AMC to write that in, because I don't think that Janet would ever actually kill Trevor.
It was another case of the writers not reviewing the history and lazy writing.
