So does anyone else find it absolutely ridiculous how the writers are twisting themselves like pretzels to justify the wedding party. So Ryass, he & Jake have their mutual hatred of David & have been in some schemes together to get David, "naturally" that screams groomsmen! Then there's Greenlee, Jake turned his back on her after her return from the dead & marriage to David and let's not forget Amanda is working for Erica on the Fusion front, so again "naturally" that screams bridesmaid! Then there's Liza, who got David off of the criminal charges and has hurt Tad deeply with revealing Damon's paternity, but let's include her as a bridesmaid! It would make sense for Angie & Krystal and Jesse to be in the wedding party but God forbid the show does something that makes sense. They are pimping the wedding so hard b/c there is no other romance going on on the show. How pathetic. It's been a few weeks since the new writers' material has started airing and I don't see where there is any improvement. I do get alot accomplished while the show is on, so I guess I should be happy for that! Now I gotta go--I have to find the girl I punched in 2nd grade and see if she will be my maid of honor in my wedding!
I agree with both of you. IMO this Jamanda wedding is nothing more than a desperate attempt by a show that has been going down hill ratings wise, to catch some viewers that might tune in for it. Weddings always garner an audience increase, but in order to keep them you must give them something interesting story and character wise. Right now the writing for AMC has been nothing but dull and boring, so any increase in viewer ship will fall quickly by the wayside once they realize that there are no s/ls or characters that warrant an hour of one's time. The wedding party only shows how much the show has gone down hill in genuine character interaction. Greenlee and Liza as Amanda's bridesmaids is ridiculous, however what other women on the show does Amanda have a relationship with...none. Angie is probably the only one who has been most involved in Amanda's life through Jake and the whole dead baby disaster. The writers have totally ignored any woman to woman relationships except for the toxic duet of Erica/Greenlee. The characters are being written in a vacuum. The only thing the writers are interested in are triangles....David/Greenlee/Ryan, Ryan/Greenlee/Madison, JR/Marissa/Annie, JR/Annie/Scott, Tad/Liza/Krystal and the upcoming Erica/Jack/Caleb. If they think that triangles are going to keep AMC on the air, then they are in for a rude awakening. To keep an audience you need creative original stories based on character and show history. There has to be drama, mystery, romance, not just a rehash of destructive relationships playing musical chairs with couple pairings. Where are business and health stories...where are social issues and obstacles other then who slept with whom?Jamanda is a total failure in the romance department. They are extremely boring as a couple. Where at first there was a spark between them, now they are nothing more than a desperate attempt at trying to fill the void that was left by Zendall. There is nothing remotely Zendall-like in that pairing, so my advice to the writers is to stop trying to copy something you know nothing about and give them some originality. In today
It's funny that you mentioned the whole kissing thing. I thought that was overkill as well. They are getting to be too much to watch. All they do is go to the park and kiss....go to Confusion and kiss....go to the hospital and kiss...it's more than redundant, it's ridiculous.Where in the hell are the stories on AMC?!? There are no social issues, no mystery, no suspence, no thrills, no romance, no intrigue....no nothing. And AMC is missing the biggest thing of them all....NO CLIFFHANGERS!! What makes anyone want to tune in and watch this garbage? Revolving 95% of the show around Fusion and its ongoing list of problems, takeovers and failures is just stupid and pointless. I could really care less if I see Greenlee, David or Ryan's face. And they have done an incredibly messy job of the storyline with JR, Annie, Marissa (who needs to be killed off by the way) & Scott. And when, for God's sake, are we going to see a story featuring the Cordtlands? Even though I absolutely hate the Liza replacement, I would be slightly intrigued to see her pull a Marion and take Damien to bed. AMC could make some of the stories and characters interesting, I just don't think they know how to. These new writers are just as bad as Pratt....ABC needs to start looking now for replacements, because these two are leading the show down the wrong path.

I would agree with ALL your comments except for the one about Damon and Liza. I personally am sick of everyone sinking to the lowest common denominator to achieve some "storyline". And really, it's just another triangle. Two women - Liza and Colby - will be involved for whatever reason with one guy. Does AMC do ANYTHING BUT triangles?? As noted in DIva's post above, look at all the triangles we have!!!!
What happened to real storylines about real issues that made me want to turn in and watch the resolution. Now it's just musical chairs in relationships - and it's being played by too many characters that I care absolutely nothing about...certainly nothing that is making me want to tune in on a regular basis.
I am really sick of reading that the end of soaps is coming - the medium has outlived itself. Instead, I would prefer to read how those in charge are KILLING soaps. And the same people that killed one soap are re-hired to SAVE another one. On what planet does that make ANY sense whatsover??? They said we need something new to save soaps and then they hire the same old same old. Go FIgure.
That's the biggest problem with soap operas today.....too many people: actors, writers, producers, etc. bounce from one soap to the next. I am like you, why on earth would ABC hire two writers that just left a show that is being pulled off of the air? It makes no sense whatsoever. There are no storylines on this show, just a bunch of mixed-matched ramblings from one character to another. And the more I think about it, you're right...the story with Liza and Damien is pretty dumb....just another way for them to try and throw two characters in the sack. I was trying to be hopeful a while back, but there is no saving this show. Not with the current people at the helm of this show....they will continue to run this show further into the ground. It's a shame when you think about how great AMC used to be.
I believe so many love triangles are b/c of lazy writing. Instead of writing real issues for couples, it is much easier to throw another person into the mix. Every now & then there is an exception & a triangle can be compelling & both sides divided evenly among fans. However, with the current state of AMC, there isn't even a couple to root for except for Jesse & Angie and we see how little screen time they get except for their usefulness with their professional roles as Chief of both the hospital & police force. Until fresh new people are hired for HW jobs, soaps will continue to die and we will have a kazillion game shows to choose from. That will be a sad day indeed but it seems inevitable @ this point which is a shame.
Well considering the sizzling interest in this thread, it seems no one, no one at all can come up with one rational reason that Jamanda are remarrying. These writers are as hopeless as the previous two or three regimes. Frons' hiring practices are suspect. He has hired one hopeless writer after another to write a show that should have been deep sixed during Pratt's reign. Now not only are the two new head writers inept, but Frons has allowed them to hire Esenten and Brown, the head writing team that started AMC on it's downward spiral two years ago as dialogue writers. Is Frons diliberatedly trying to have AMC cancelled? What is wrong with this scenario? They spent a lot of money to move to LA which has resulted in lower ratings because of the loss of characters that the fans actually want to see. I actually feel bad for the actors on the show presently because no one wants to see them save for Susan Lucci and Darnell Williams and Debbie Morgan. This is directly the fault of the writers and the awful storylines they have crafted and have been allowed to present by Frons. So I guess the reason they have given Jamanda a wedding is because they are, while still morons, the least objectionable of all the characters and I guess the writers thought someone might watch them and not notice what a crashing bore the entire show is.Did anyone actually watch the wedding? If so I bet it had nothing on Bo an Nora's.Bring back Zach and Kendall, Adam, Petey Cortland, and get rid of the new head writers pronto.A hint to the writers, the characaters that now inhabit the show aside form Jesse and Angie and Erica are all second string characters that never should be front and center because they have no, none, ziltch, nada appeal and some need to be written off. Period!
Some? Let's say that 95% of the cast needs to go. With the exception of Erica, Angie, Jessie, Jackson & Tad (whom, to me, they have made him into too much of a cartoon character lately.) I like Tad, and have for some time, but the goofy behaviour is a little too much for me, and this whole notion of forcing him and Liza together is just plain stupid. Can't barely stand to watch the screen when these two are on.
And if these stupid writers are so damned hard up to put Ryan & Greenlee together, cut the song and dance and just have these two make up and be together!! No fans of the show can stomach these two, but it's obvious that none of our cries are going to be heard....so get it over with and let's move on. None of us are going to be excited about these two working their way back to each other, so trying to build up a return to romance for these two is completely wasted. WE DON'T CARE!!! So, if you're going to do it, which it looks like you are, just do it.
And I was one of the people that kinda watched the wedding....it didn't have my full attention, but let me tell you. It was horrible, and couldn't hold a candle to Bo & Nora's. It was rushed and thrown together, and I'm not buying into this supposed deep love that Jake and Amanda have with each other. And am I the only one confused by the wedding party? I understand why Ryan & Tad might have been chosen for the groom...although one would have believed that Jake would have chosen Frankie over Ryan to be one of his groomsmen......but why in the hell would Amanda have Greenlee & Liza in her party? Just a desperate attempt that the writers made to try and once again shove romances/pairings down our throat.... How many times do we have to say it? We don't want Tad & Fake Liza together...and NO ONE gives a damn about seeing Ryan & Greenlee together. I mean it's really sad that their wedding had to take second place to everyone trying to force Ryan & Greenlee walk down the aisle together, get special recognition for finding the ring and share a special dance.....i could have thrown up. I mean why even say that it's Jake & Amanda's wedding, if the main focus is going to be on the most repulsive coupling in daytime history...Ryan & Greenlee.
AMC needs to stop while they're ahead and get some new writers on board....fast!!! These two aren't cutting it. They have already shown how much further damage they can do, in a short amount of time...please don't prolong this!!!
Oh, and let me be the first to call it.......This is what's going to happen as soon as Greenlee spills the beans about what's happened to Erica. Ryan & Jackson will claim that David brainwashed Greenlee and none of it is her fault. This will end up being the end of David & Greenlee....and David will of course take all of the blame, even though Greenlee has known for some time about the plane crash, and Jessie, Ryan, Tad, Jake, Jackson and the rest of Pine Valley will gang up on David and he'll get railroaded into jail once again. Greenlee will of course come out of the whole ordeal without a scratch on her....or any kind of jail time. God, I hate her so much!!!
Second string? More like benchwarmers with splinters in their a*#$!! Haha! Totally agree with everything you said.Have only been watching while doing other things but this line cracked me up today that shows how out of touch the writers are:Erica wondering about Jamanda's wedding! This is Erica Kane & the world revolves around her & she's wandering the mountains thinking of Jamanda--uh, hell to the no!Didn't pay attention after that gem!
......... the most repulsive coupling in daytime history...Ryan & Greenlee.Actually I want them together. Less FF time. David and Greenlee need to share a jail cell in hell. I don't understand a writers' mentality that would think that attempting murder, sabotaging an airline, and setting someone up on fraud charges or embezzelement or getting away with murder are sterling attributes and are what heroes and heroines are made of. David and Greenlee are despicable. They're the Bonnie and Clyde of daytime.Commmitting crimes in the name of love is not romantic, it is criminal. Greenlee is as culpable as David and both need to be punished. Greenlee needs to take her raccoon eyes and go to jail. There's never any satisfactory ending to anything, one criminal acts justs begets another. There's no consequence to be paid. No wonder the ratings are 1.8. It's actually higher than they deserve. I hope they meet the same fate as the real Bonnie and Clyde. They need to be gunned down at least figuritively. I'll provide the tommy gun.Jake and Amanda.... borrrring. They are dull, dull, dull. They're over. They were cute for three seconds but it takes more than many kisses to make a couple interesting and romantic. There needs to be some substance to them. There isn't any. They didn't deserve that wedding; there was no build up to it or reason for it.

The shows material has been stretched so thin that it's completely laughable how they thread these stories together. It's like they are saying to the audience, "We know you don't like what you see, but we're gonna keep giving it to you anyway, and pray that you'll come around." The new writers have done nothing but continue the process of running this show further into the ground.I haven't watched at all this week. The commercials have been enough for me. But I do agree with you totally....how in the hell did the writers come to the conclusion of putting Greenlee in the wedding party? And Liza? Come on....When are they going to get smart and dump this poor representation of Liza Colby? Not to mention her equally horrible daughter.I can't even stomach what they have done to David....He is irrational, weak, whiny and disgustingly desperate. Instead of trying to write it so that the audience might possibly root for Greenlee & David, they have made these two charaters even more disappointing. And continuing to force Ryan & Greenlee together is not winning the show any brownie points either.Get some interesting stories and feature more veterans and maybe.....just maybe I'll return. Until then, I don't see the point.
