I have watched GL for at least 30 odd years. It has always been my favorite. When they announced April 1 that GL was leaving I was torn up and still am. However, I am so disappointed that so much time is being spent on Olivia and Natalia. (it feels like a political agenda instead of a simple soap opera) I stopped my campaign of keeping the show on when that started. Can't they at least end with the more historical characters of the show? The Bauers? What about poor Frank? Can't we give him a good story? I know the filming is over and what's done is done, but it leaves me heavy hearted. I think what could have been.....
Wasn't Beth married to Jim (Daisy's adoptive father), when she was pregnant with James. And Daisy was a teenager then?
Alan will go down in history as one of the greatest characters on the show. I started watching GL about a year and a half ago and really enjoyed ole Alan. I hope he does not die. You never know someday someone might want to bring this show back out of the ashes and there will be no Alan. I guess if the show is revived down the road 10 years or so they could have the younger characters in their 40's and the mid-age characters in their 60's. Say like James and Daisy married with a child or two. Henry and Colin as teens. Phillip and Beth as grandparents in their 60's, Marina and Shayne married, Mallet and Dinah come back married with children etc...and etc... who knows?

I agree. I have loved Guiding Light for over 40 years. From Reva's cloning and Philip's adoption through Lizzie and Jonathan and so on. However, having standard old characters suddenly all turned gay is just ridiculous. I'm not anti-gay, but why didn't they do this 'gay' thing earlier in this series? Gus was the love of Natalia's life, but now she's gay. And all of a sudden the Mayor (I can't remember her name) is also gay. Is there gay flouride in the Springfield water?I also am offended that it seemed that Natalia was pregnant when she was to marry Frank; but now she's 'just pregnant. Also, Lizzie is obviously pregnant so why have her and Billie trying to get pregnant.Also, Beth and Philip's son was NOT conceived to help Lizzie with her leukemia. It was a steamy session in a crashed plane while Philip was married to Harley. I hated to see the show cancelled, but, now with all of these weird story lines, it's ridiculous. However:I do love Lilly and Buzz getting married. And I hate Philip dying. I've always loved Philip, Buzz and Lilly. I hope that they can carry these characters into As The World Turns or Y & R.
