Have you all noticed the lack of acting noms for GH? Could this be the result of poor writing and storylines? I remember when GH used to take over the Emmy's!
Congrats to those who were nominated, although GH is the only soap I watch so I can't really say if the others deserve thier noms or not.
I hope this gives the writers a clue that they need to give thier actors GOOD storylines!!
I d agree that the voting well, sucks. I read either the sme or a similar article as you. If it's a popularity contest, than why have the awards? It is kind of like the Oscars, why bother?I still think the actors can only do so much with what they are given. You have to be able to tap into thier talent to get the emotions and commitment, otherwise it is like watching a puppet.-
I definitely think there's something fishy going on with voting this year. Judi Evans' and Thaao Penghlis' noms for Days makes no sense. Don't get me wrong, I think they're fantabulous actors, but I can think of several actors who deserve the nomination, on ABC and NBC alike, in Supporting Actress and Lead Actor than these two. It's just so random. I think Tyler Christopher should've gotten a nomination. Even though the story was dragged out, I think he did an amazing job in this story with Emily being dead. Kirsten Storms did a great job when Georgie died as well. Personally, I think the actors and actresses on GH deserve the nominations in their own individual categories than the show itself getting nominated for Best Drama.
Really think they need to rethink the whole process. How can only 2 actors from an ABC get nominated? Doesn't make any sense at all. I am not saying the people who are nominated don't deserve it, I really don't know. I don't watch Days or As The World Turns. I watch a little of Y&R. It is shame and funny since the awards will be on ABC. I think the actors from the ABC soaps should boycott it, I don't think I will be tuning in, why bother.
One thing to keep in mind about the voting process: Judges could not vote for actors on their own show. So GH judges, for example, had to vote for other shows. And the judges I personally talked to cited the massive number of DVDs to watch as a potential problem for some jurists -- though I was assured by these particular judges that they themselves watched all submitted material.
The whole process seems silly.

I'm not sure if it is the writing or the voting. I think it is the voting process. I have read that they say that there is just too many tapes for the voters to watch since each soaps nominates 3 actors or actress per catagory and that it actually turns into a popularity contest. Says CBS has more soaps so more people voting for their stars. Maybe the writing was bad but the acting always rocks. I think it is a shame that it went this way. I love Tony Geary but he is gone more than he is there and he always get nominated. Not saying he doesn't deserve it just think there are others who might be there more that deserve the nomination like Tyler Christopher who always delivers an amazing performance.
