We often complain about GH never doing anything hospital related. The reason was obvious since Lisa came back to work. The writers clearly do not understand the politics of real hospitals. I know alot of things get embelished for tv, but creative license shouldn't be abused.
First of all, the hospital would not just sweep the incidents of the trashed lockers under the rug the way they did. 2 doctors were targetted. An impartial hospital investigation as well as a police investigation would be ongoing. The safety of the doctors would be the prime concern.
Second of all, most hospitals would put Lisa on temporary suspension pending police investigation of Robin's accusations.
Third, no chief of staff would force Patrick or Robin to work with Lisa. If it was a minor disagreement or someone didn't like her attitude or the music she played is different. Both Patrick & Robin have been Lisa's "alleged" victims of crimes such as kidnapping, stalking, attempted murder for which a police investigation would be ongoing.
Then, there's the biggest blunder of all. The thing that had me mad enough to bi*ch. No chief of staff would threaten to fire either Patrick or Robin for not wanting to work with someone they have accused of all the above crimes. Especially in a hospital that is always low on funds & there are so many other hospitals who would love to get their hands on a doctor with Patrick's qualifications (supposed to be one of the best surgeons in the country).
Finally, the overall unprofessional behavior of the staff toward Patrick would not occur in real hospitals. Having had Lupus practically all my life, I've been in & out of hospitals all my life & have a more intimate knowledge of the behavior that goes on than I would like. While the staff may gossip about each other, they would never behave disrespectfully toward that same colleague the way the staff at GH have toward Patrick. Especially in front of the patients. The open hostility toward him for cheating on St. Robin is completely unprofessional. The one that shocked me the most was Epiphany, who is usually the voice of reason. Oh & her complaint about the hospital falling into disarray because 2 doctors were out on leaves of absense? If a hospital can't handle 2 doctors with 2 different specialties being on leave, then it is one very badly run hospital & Steven should stick to surgery. During the tenure of Dr. Hardy & the Drs. Q, there were personal battles going on & it never turned the hospital upside-down. There have been lunatics running amok in the hospital before & it never created the chaos that this one night stand has. Maybe the good people of Port Charles should take their ailments & emergencies to Mercy instead.
LMAO!!! All true! As for the co-ed locker rooms, I don't think real hospitals have them. Too much opportunity for sexual harassment.
Oh HELL no! We put up with alot of crap from this show, but they really play alot with creative license. When Robin woke up to find Luny Lisa ready to give her a needle, I thought I was the one hallucinating. I'm sure the writers have some reason why they rewrote Steve's history & taken the once brilliant doctor with the wisdom of the ages & turned him into nothing more than a hot bod in a lab coat, but NO chief of staff in his right mind would EVER let Lisa be on Robin's medical team. First of all, the accusations Robin's made aside, Lisa is an orthopedic surgeon. Robin has no broken bones. Second, the potential lawsuit Robin would file would make it a priority for Steve to keep Lisa away from her. Oh & it's counterproductive to her healing. On the plus side, the fact that Lisa would be anywhere near Robin should even convince "So dumb Steve" that she's insane. No sane woman who's been accused of the things Lisa's been accused of would go anywhere near the accuser.
A great observation and I agree you even cited some points I'm not aware of General Mobspital doesn't even "try" to tell hospital dramas correctly in fact IMO they purposely mock them...their mob tales are far-fetched as well...I am a mob aficionado read mob tales and watch old mob movies, huge Puzo fan and the GH mob is like from a bad B movie.
From a bad 'B' movie? I think that was way too generous!!D-list, baby! D-list!
I actually found myself cheering for Theo today. He keeps giving these doctors chance after chance to correct their mistake & they're totally oblivious to what they did wrong. They keep saying there is nothing wrong with him. Yet another reason this show should stick to their half-azzed mob stories. There's nothing wrong with him? Hello! The guy's talking about imaginary flies in his food, accusing the doctors of incompetance, saying their state of the art equipment is crap. I realize better than most that some patients are irritable because they don't feel well & in some cases, they make justifiable complaints. I knew someone who'd gone into the hospital for quintuple bipass surgery & he got worked up when the nurse picked up his water glass with two of her fingers inside the cup. But, this was not the case with Theo. What the show either doesn't know or has overlooked is the fact that all student doctors must take a psych rotation before they settle on their specialty. This is the reason they are required. They need to be able to deal with ALL types of people.Look at the symptoms Theo claims to be having & seems to be exhibiting. Blinding headaches, visual disturbances, balance trouble, delusions of grandeur, paranoia, to name a few. They are symptoms of several things that might not show up on CT scans & MRIs, including schizophrenia, a psychotic episode & other mental disorders. All of those doctors from Steve down to Robin failed him as a patient. Robin, especially because she was the one who actually overlooked his snarky, condescending attitude & talked to him for more than five minutes. Ironically, it's because she had so much compassion for him yet didn't see that he needed a psych consult. The most minor thing that could be wrong with him is hypochondria, which is treatable with therapy & as his attending physicians, these doctors should have insisted on a psych evaluation no matter how much it hurt his feelings. It's their job to diagnose & treat sick people, including the mentally & emotionally disturbed, no matter how unglamorous it is. I suspect the never onscreen Dr. Hunter who, I believe is still a resident, would've probably caught it so it's a shame that two nationally lauded surgeons (Patrick & Steve) didn't.

Very well said LJ. This is exactly why I find the mob storylines more enjoyable to watch than the hospital stuff. Lisa being allowed back to work just because the looney bin didn't find her looney enough to stay there is totally ridiculous. The new chief of staff totally needs his azz kicked for some of the decisions he has made lately. The hospital would be better off having Spinelli as the chief of staff! Patrick needs to quite running around the hospital in his street clothes, looking pitiful and stupid everytime Lisa suceeds in her setup of Robin looking like the looney one......and I have to say on that one: Go Lisa. Bottom line, Lisa needs to go away; Robin needs to be smacked into reality about married life; Steve needs to join hands with Lisa and go away; Patrick needs to quit apologizing to Robin about the "mistake" he made and demand that she makes up her mind if she wants to stay married or not. Finally, the hospital needs to stop the co-ed locker room shitz (do hospitals have those in real life?). JMO
