Hi all, Julie here, WEEKLY's AMC Editor. Just wanted to introduce myself, and check out what everyone has to say!
Just wanted to pop in and say "hello" Julie. I have to say your comments about the writing and the show as of late are not only spot on, but quite entertaining. I'm happy to know that I'm not the only one who watches AMC and asks if the powers that be really believe their viewing public is that stupid. There's nothing I hate more than when the writers spoon feed us ridiculous dialogue just to propel a plot point.
Hi Julie,I am glad that the editors are posting and letting the fans of AMC voice our feelings to you directly. I am so hoping that the show is starting to turn around. I am also hoping for better writing for everyone. I am a Zach and Kendall fan first so I want better writing for them but I would love to see the whole cast being used in good storylines. This show has a long way to go to get back on track. I hope that this is the start of better things to come.
Hey Julie!I'm loving this communication between the fans and the Weekly editors/writers!I used to watch AMC in the 70/80's and returned last summer for the preemie story with baby Ian. But what caught me and kept me tuning in was the story with Ailee. I loved SS/AT together - their first kiss was one of the hottest most chemistry filled first kisses ever. I'm new to the RB version of Greenlee. It's definitely different! I do think RB/AT could make a serious run of it if only the writing didn't suck the life out of this pairing. I also enjoy Zach and Kendall. And who doesn't love the lmighty Erica Kane? What bothers me is the horrific writing being done for the female leads - such as Kendall, Greenlee and Annie. The pole dancing, the pinky swears, the obssessing over Ryan. It's insulting. I'd like to see female characters I can respect - and I don't see that anywhere.Annie has recently shown some backbone - but to hear Greenlee excuse Ryan's fist in her face was terrible and flat out irresponsible of TPTB.I'd love to see these six in their OWN stories - away from each other. I'd love to see them explore Aidan's back story - - what happened with that child he hurt? We know that's why he initially empathized with Greenlee, but we never heard more about it. So much untapped potential.I LOVE the Aidan/Zach friendship and I'm sad it will probably suffer after the ONS reveal. Stupid ONS - what a dumb plot point. Wouldn't it have been much more interesting to see Aidan/Kendall struggle with G/Z new found closeness without the out of character grief sex? I hate to see them continue to have Aidan lie to Greenlee when he's one of the most honest characters on the show - another OOC situation driven by a ridiculous plot.New Babe? Not working. I loved Jacob Young - he's one of the best on the show. Tad? Not really liking him with Krystal at all. It's great to see Jessie and Angie back, but unless the writing improves - all these 'vets' aren't going to make a bit of difference. The ratings are proof of that. First RB, then DW/DM and now CM. And the ratings continue to tank. It's writing writing writing!Ryan bores me. I wish they would give Amanda a good storyline. Let's hope one of the rumored buildings being blown up is the Fusion/ConFusion set. If I see those stupid pots of grass (so over!) anymore I'll scream!
Hello Julie!Yes, I will admit, I'm another Zendall fan. I also love Zach and Kendall as individual characters too. But I do like other characters on the show, Josh, Erica, Adam, Opal, Myrtle. I used to like Tad a lot, but the last few years, he's just made me too mad, but I have this big ol' soft spot for MEK.I just want to say thank you and the rest of the SOD/SOW team for setting up this opportunity to dialogue directly with you all. It's definitely interesting and enlightening!
Thank you all for the warm welcome! It's so great to be able to hear all your feedback.
If you had to pick, what would be your absolute favorite storyline right now? I'm actually getting really excited for Jake Martin's return (in the form of Ricky Paull Goldin)!

I'm actually getting really excited for Jake Martin's return (in the form of Ricky Paull Goldin)! Though it shouldn't have happened in the first place, but Zach finding out about the Grief Sex would be my pick. One, because I've wanted this darn thing out in the open and dealt with ages ago so the characters could move on and I have to say, I just know Alicia Minshew and Thorsten Kaye will hit it out of the park. Then I want to see Zach and Kendall work on their issues, move beyond this and emerge stronger than ever as a couple and as individuals. But I understand all that takes time. What's going to be interesting is the journey getting there.I'm personally am not familiar with Ricky Paull Goldin's work, but I've heard many good things about him, so I'm curious, but I've said on this board many times, it does no good adding new people to the cast if they don't fix their main problem: the writing!
Can it be a favorite and the one I hate the most at the same time? I love Aidan and Greenlee. I love their love story and I hate how it's being trashed.I'm on the fence about RPG. It seems to me there are so many talented cast members that are underutilized. And that age range is overflowing with male characters/leads. Who will pay the price for his joining the cast? There is not enough story to go around now.Maybe it's because I didn't watch him on GL and he never did anything for me as Dean Frame on Another World. And again - it doesn't matter how many talented actor's or supposed 'favorites' they put onscreen. Until the writing improves - they are spitting in the wind. JMO!
Hi Julie:
Thanks for this forum...what a great idea! I've read your comments and they are very interesting and enlightening.
Another Zendall fan here. TK and AM are amazing as this couple and the main reason I still tune into AMC. The writing is slowly improving and hopefully that will continue because it's been very dismal for many, many months.
Though I'm not familiar with Ricky Paul Goldin's work, I'm looking forward to seeing him in a good storyline since I've heard very good remarks about his acting abilities.
Personally, I look forward to the grief sex resolve for Zach and Kendall. This has drug on over three months and should never have happened in the first place. AM's character of Kendall has grown too much for this to happen, but since it did, I want it over so Zendall can move on. Hopefully, the writers will give them a mature, well written story for these two fine actors without third party interference.
I definitely agree with you guys, there is a lot of work to be done on the already existing storylines. It is very frustrating when the writing isn't true to the characters' history!
Hi Julie,Thank you for joining in. ITA with your comments about the Ryan amnesia story. Your assessment of AMC has been right on the money. IMO Ryan's importance and usefulness on this show has been inflated for way too long. This everlasting obsession of Ryan that both Greenlee and Kendall have is so boring and redundant. It really does drag down all of the characters involved and has for too many years now. It is definitely time to move on. I am a huge Zendall fan but I also want to see other good couples who can deal with their own problems. It is so unrealistic to think that these people are so involved in each other's marriages and relationships (even for a soap!). This show desperately needs more interesting couples with compelling story lines. While I have never been a Ryan/Greenlee fan, I do think there is more chemistry between RB/CM than there is between MCE/CM. I did like the dynamic between Greenlee/Aidan while SS was there. But my biggest problem is my dislike for the character of Ryan which is rooted in his never being held accountable for his actions.I want a good love story for Josh/Amanda and of course a reunion of Jack and Erica although I have to say that I would love to see AMC revisit Adam/Erica. SL and DC are dynamite together.
Hi Julie!
Well, it shouldn't have ever been written, but I am ready for the grief sex to come out. TK and AM will knock it out of the ballpark. I dread it, but also at the same time look forward to it. It will be just the two of them dealing with it. No high school stuff, just real emotions.

The grief sex should never have happened in the first place, so I'm anxiously waiting for it to be resolved once and for all.
Quote:I definitely agree with you guys, there is a lot of work to be done on the already existing storylines. It is very frustrating when the writing isn't true to the characters' history! Julie, it's not just history, but common sense and logic! LOL! Like Annie suddenly giving up on Ryan. Granted, he's being a jerk, but isn't a few weeks a little premature to go scouting for a new bedmate? What happened to their great love? And just how does Annie bed hopping attempts help Emma who she claims is the one she's trying to protect? No logic or sense!Granted the last two weeks or so have been better, but it's been such a mess for such a long time, that it'll take a while to set the ship right again. And as big of a Zendall fan as I am, I know not even Zach and Kendall alone can fix the show. Great place to start in my very biased opinion, but other parts of the show need a whole lotta work too.
Hi Julie...I agree with the others....your comments on AMC and the writing have been right on. Thanks for that.Favorite story right now...I do hope that once Kendall and Zach talk about the ONS (that should not have happened to begin with), that they deal with this openly and honestly as a couple. I am tired of all the third party interference with this couple. I want them to be honest with each other and talk about all the stuff that happened. In the end, I want to see them come out of this stronger and better then ever. Mr. Kaye and Ms.Minshew will blow us out of the rink with their performances and where I'm sure parts of it will be heartbreaking, I also have this feeling I'll fall in love with this couple all over again. Then..I want them to go on a honeymoon!I watched RPG when he played Dean on AW....I do not know him as Gus. I am excited about his coming to AMC, but am cautious about it as well. AMC has not done well with any returns (portrayed by the original or re-cast), so I'm not sure how this will go. I do hope however that the writers spend some time with why Jake is back and get him linked with his family before they start playing matchmaker. The audience needs to become familiar with the actor, but also become used to another Martin being on the scene. Name actors and familiar characters are all well and good - but the show needs consistent, thought out and character driven writing.
I forgot to add - I'm not happy at how the writers are throwing Aidan under the bus for the grief sex. 1 - It's completely out of character for Aidan to keep this secret. 2. - It makes ZERO sense that Kendall tells Zach but doesn't clue Aidan in to the fact Zach knows. 3. They are clearly setting up a Zach revenge scenario where he will go after Aidan for what happened. Z/K will work out their differences, Greenlee will up and leave Aidan for lying to her and Zach will probably kill Aidan - paving the way for Rylee Redux. That just isn't right! K/A were both there - but Aidan will be the one to lose everything.
Julie,I'd like to ask you a question. As a woman, how do you feel the women on AMC are portrayed? There are many times that I feel that AMC want the women to be saints, sluts or victims, sometimes a combination of two or more. They ultimately make the "heroine" a victim or have her make a mistake that brands her as something else. It's like a misogynistic streak is running through the show.I can't think of ONE real female friendship on the show that rings true (I do not count Erica and Opal since they seem to not show them together too often). Calling what Kendall and Greenlee have a friendship (or worse yet, calling them "sisters") is a joke. Talk about a toxic relationship. Kendall constantly subjugates herself to Greenlee and Greenlee constantly needs to be the Alpha in the relationship. Amanda and Babe? They're always sniping at each other. Why can't there be a REAL friendship between two female characters? (I'm going to pose this same question to Mara as well).
HI Julie, Another Zendall fan and a AMC fan in general.I hope the writers allow Zach and Kendall to work out their problems with each other without the interference of hypocritical friends. I want to see an adult couple handle this in an adult way and then come out the other end stronger and more secure with each other and within themselves. This entire 'grief sex' thing should never have happened. It was one of the biggest blunders AMC has ever made. I wonder if they anticipated the enormous negative backlash it would cause? It certainly has shown in their ratings. TIIC and the writers certainly deserved it, but not the actors who so carefully and lovingly brought these characters to life for us.I hope they also realize the fans love David Canary, and Michael Knight and Colin Egglefield. I appreciate and enjoy DC's talent. I want to see him in his own storyline that does not involve trying to rein in JR. JR is a lost cause. Let's have Colby carry on the family legacy and be like her mother Liza. DC and Thorsten Kaye have the same caliber of acting ability; they need to interact more. Their scenes are dynamic. As for Aiden being thrown under a bus for this grief sex thing, he should be, and I hope Zach is the bus! I believe he took advantage of a very distraught, downbeaten woman, who, at the hands of his girlfriend, suffered the disappearance of her husband, and the maiming of her eldest son and the early dangerous birth of her youngest son. Kendall was in no state to be asking for or getting any grief sex. Aiden was in control of himself and should have realized it but instead of using his upper head he used the one with no brain. Ryan was enough of a threat for Aiden and Greenlee without throwing in this unnecessary and senseless greif sex thing.
I have one request for Greenlee, my favorite character and actress. PLEASE separate Greenlee from Kendall. This relationship is disasterous for Greenlee. I blame the ex-HW for all of this, and the new ones played a part in it as well. Greenlee does NOT need to live in Kendall's shadow. She was the one that started out working hard in the cosmetics industry. To me, she is the only one with actual business saavy and deserves to be out of Kendall's orbit. Rebecca Budig is and always will be a huge part of AMC, and I think Greenlee deserves her place back at the top where she belongs. It's time to give Greenlee a storyline of her own again. It will make a lot of Greenlee fans happy, to see her SEPARATE from this person. Kendall is not good for Greenlee. She has hurt her for such a long time, and she continues to do it. I also have a problem with Greenlee being the last to know about the ONS. However, I know Rebecca will be amazing in those scenes, and really, we need great acting like that again. Rebecca is the one leading lady right now that isn't a veteran that can handle that. Give her a chance again with some new material. Stop keeping her talent at arm's length and let it flourish. She brought in numbers and made this show amazing at one time. Let's do it again.
I definitely agree with you that it would be nice to see some real female friendships here. I think we are starting to see a nice one between Krystal and Angie, but aside from them I can't think of any others. I don't know about you all, but I certainly don't treat my best friends the way Kendall and Greenlee treat each other. I also was very disappointed with how Annie and Kendall's friendship suffered because of Ryan's amnesia. It took them so long to get to that point where they were finally a family, and now they are at odds again.
I agree that Kendall and Greenlee should not be friends. They definately need their own story lines and they definately need new friends. I too would love to see Annie and Kendall work on repairing the frienship they were starting to build.

That's not a friendship! Stop trying to pretend it was some great thing! It wasn't and still isn't!And that's one of the problems with the show is forcing these so-called friendships. Practically none of them make sense and therefore just rings false to the audience.I don't watch other soaps regularly like I do AMC, but I catch them occassionally, and I have to say that I see good female friendships on other soaps. Why not on AMC?

That does not work either, and it was VERY insulting to try and play off what Kendall did to her.
Hola Julie!
I love Zach and Kendall and would love nothing more, then for them to have their own story. A story that is about them and just them. TK and AM are more then capable of handling it imo.
I would love it if Ryan and Greenlee were placed on the backburner-need a break from both. Also would like to see R&G away from Kendall and Zach, a scene here and there...fine.
I would love more friendships. Much rather have Annie and Kendall as friends then Greenlee and Kendall
I'm looking forward to Ricky Paul Goldin. Looking forward to what he brings to the Jake role
Hello Julie,I'm another Zendall fan and a long time viewer of AMC, over 30 years. I must say AMC has slightly improved these past few weeks, but if it wasn't for Zach and Kendal I would have tuned out a long time ago. If there is any one story line that I am looking forward to that would be Zach and Kendall being allowed to deal with their own family without any interlopers and the ONS. Like many others, I feel that if Kendall were allowed to be written in character than the ONS would have never happened. I also hope that we finally get to see Zach and Kendall go on there long awaited honeymoon. I am also hoping that the near rape of Kendall and all the abuse that she has had to endure from Ryan, Aidan and Jackson is addressed as well. Violence against women is a serious issue regardless of which soap opera it is on and I would love to see your magazine address this issue and why the victims are made to look bad and those who are abusive made to look heroic. The whitewashing of Greenlee's and Ryan's actions are gross insult to the viewing audience and if Erica Kane can go to jail than so should Greenlee. I'm enjoy the fact that Jesse and Angie are back but watching Adam with Kwak and JR with Bade has become rather boring. I just want Adam and JR to get as far away from the Carey's as possible. Chandler men would be better off without them. It's wonderful to see Opal get a story line and I hope that Josh and Amanda can get one as well. I would also love to see Josh and Amanda become a couple, I think that they have great potential. I think that RPG is a wonderful addition to AMC as Jake Martin.

Please don't let me get started on the things done to Kendall because I'm not about to debate with you.
Why are you quoting my post and how was it insulting to you? I stated an opinion. Agree or disagree, but there's no need to start with the negatives. No need to point them out. We all remember what Kendall did, so why even go there? Make your point, but don't quote a post of mine to try and do it.
If you had to pick, what would be your absolute favorite storyline right now? I'm actually getting really excited for Jake Martin's return (in the form of Ricky Paull Goldin)!>>>>>Hi Julie. My favorite story is the Erica/Carmen and hopefull Erica/Jackson reunion story I am a HUGE Jerica fan and they are one of the main reasons I hung in and stuck with the show the last few years. There isn't much else I'm happy about.
What abuse has Kendall 'endured' from Aidan and Jackson? Wasn't Aidan the only one to stick by her during her trial? Was it because he took Greenlee's side during the Spike debacle? I must be missing something. Same of Jackson - I've seen him get annoyed and angry with Kendall over his daughter - nothing I'd remotely call abuse.
As someone that enjoys both Kendall and Greenlee (when not being written as witless Ryan groupies) - I simply do not understand the Love Kendall - hate Greenlee or love Greenlee - hate Kendall mentality.Board after board it's the same old thing. A Kendall fan critcizes GL - then a Greenlee fan jumps in and rips Kendall. Or vice versa. Both Kendall and Greenlee have their good points and their bad points. Neither is the high priestness of AMC. (Erica Kane baby!!) Am I seriously the only one that likes both of them - warts and all? Because they both have them - neither is perfect.
Hi Julie!
Thank you for giving us an opportunity to express our thoughts of what we want to see on AMC in the coming months. Right now I want the reveal of Kendall's "grief sex" with Aiden to finally see the light of day. Recently Thorsten had expressed his feelings regarding the way he would want the reveal to be written and he expressed his desire to see it dealt with by Zach and Kendall within their relationship privately, without the interference of third parties. I totally agree with him. I want this written with sensitivity about two people who passionately love each and yet have to deal with something that will hurt both severely. I want both characters to address their inner most feelings and come to terms about shortcomings within their relationship and come out even stronger as a married couple. Mostly it is about trust from Zach's point of view, and about abuse and emotional break down from Kendall's. I don't want anything left out or re-written from what we saw on our screens on December 19th. Kendall was broken and it was not an affair. Zach has to be made aware of her circumstances and her mental state at the time, before he judges her and her actions. I know that both Thorsten and Alicia will bring in heart wrenching performances.
I also want to see Kendall's near-rape in LA not be dropped as a plot point, but also addressed with sensitivity and incorporated within Zach and Kendall's s/l. This is a very important social issue to many viewers and cannot be treated without due respect.
I want to see a Chandler/Slater business s/l which was dropped after the death of Hannah Nichols.
I also want Zach and Kendall to be far removed from the Ryan/Greenlee/Aiden/Annie mess. Zendall has the potential for more mature writing than stupid and boring couple switching. They are perfect for stories of business and international intrigue, mystery, romance, drama and various family events involving their children. They don't need the juvenile drama of the toxic four.
Quote:Kendall kept Annie's daughter from her father? That is even MORE contrived than Kenlee. Nope. That does not work either, and it was VERY insulting to try and play off what Kendall did to her. Well, when you put it that way, then it would be contrived for anyone to have any friends on this show. Let's face it, every character has hurt other characters in some way. One of the things that makes us human is that we hurt people and that we forgive. Kendall was wrong to feel threatened by Annie and Emma's relationship with Ryan, and she acknowledged it, was forgiven, and they moved on. I had many warm fuzzies over how that whole group became close and stuck together through some very hard times.Honestly it was very hard for me to buy into the Kendall and Greenlee friendship. I liked both of them and hoped they would be friends up until Greenlee started installing cameras in Kendall's shower and ripping her dress off in court. After that, even though Greenlee got everything she wanted, she continued to be hateful to Kendall. I was relieved when Kendall stopped obsessing over Greenlee and Ryan, and bewildered when she started trying to help Greenlee and they became friends. I resisted it, and only eventually bought into it because RB and AM had such chemistry together. They were having so much fun that I was having fun. I was genuinely disappointed when RB left the show, and horrified by how cruelly Greenlee treated Kendall on the way out.Part of me wants to buy into their friendship and chemistry again, but I'm just too exhausted. There's too much awfulness that happened and the stupid way that it was "repaired" was just too little too late.
Hi Julie,The only s/l I actually like right now is Erica/Carmen. There has been a lot of comedy in it and I have always felt that is SL's true forte. I'm not sure how long this s/l can be sustained. It will take some good writing to keep it going and I don't know if Carmen is long term or short termMy primary concern is always Zendall as I am another huge fan. I have mixed emotions about the "grief sex" reveal. I agree with everyone else who said it never should have happened. Totally out of character and contrived. However, since it did happen, there is great potential if properly written (big if). To watch Zach and Kendall deal realistically with the issue without the intrusion of others could be powerful, and I know TK and AM will blow us away with their performances. So I guess this is potentially my current favorite s/l if done properly. I always love Zendall, no matter what. And love TK and AM.

I believe the fans of ALL these couples want to see this sextet obliterated. Aidan/Greenlee and Ryan/Annie are just as capable of being involved in the types of stories you listed. A/G/R/A are not what is toxic to K/Z - it's the writing.Everyone with the exception of Zach (most of the time - pole dancing didn't do him any favors) has acted in an immature manner. All of these characters are better than how they have been written and all are deserving of stories independent of the other four. As a fan of Ailee and Zendall - I think it's wrong to blame sextet of suck on anyone but the writers.
Uh for one Kendall NEVER kept Emma's father from her. Ryan had NO rights to Emma he was a SPERM DONOR. They sign away rights when they donate. There was no keeping anyone from anyone. Oye
Oh and I could NOT disagree more about Aidan, he was thrown under the Green bus over the summer. That's when he started acting OOC.
Anyways Julie, keep up the great work! I LOVE your column. I only hope the writers read it, and realize that the Greenlee is love, and Ryan is love hour is killing this show.

Well given it should have NEVER been written, I am actually looking foward to the ONS reveal. A few months ago I wouldn't have, but I am now because it's going to be between Zen, with NO interference from anyone(for now at least).
I am looking forward to RPG, but reading what his storyline is gonna be about in TV Guide, it doesn't sound too good IMO

Since Zach has returned after his disappearance neither one has spoken of what the other went through during that time. This was not in keeping with the Zach and Kendall, especially Zach, that emerged from the SS storyline. It certainly was not the Zach or Kendall pre hole of idiocy. Since then, they have been sucked into the vortex of the Green machine that has sucked the life out of the show and the characters. I really wish that the one night stand between Aiden and Kendall did not occur, but since it did, I hope it's handled in a way that shows the real characters' strength and that is their powerful love. I hope the writers will address all that Kendall went through during that time. It was what finally broke her. During the months of the reign of terror inflicted on them by Greenlee, Kendall had Zach by her side and was barely able to keep it together. With him gone for so long and Aiden's disdain, Jack's abuse and no support from her so called extended family of Ryan and Annie who were no where to be seen, except to share in the joy of Spike's implants being turned on, she was virtually alone. Yes Erica and Josh were there but not to the extent she needed Zach to be there for her. Zach needs to hear this from Kendall. He has mentioned it a few times but has not been told just how dire that time was for Kendall as well him. All of this time has been dedicated to whitewashing Greenlee's crimes and testing the waters for an idiotic couple switching that these writers are famous for which never work and embarrassing and cheap pole dancing tricks. And yes, the near rape must be addressed. Rape is not a plot point. it is a serious crime of violence. I am eagerly looking forward to this sl because I want it over and done with and I hope the writers learn from their mistakes, because this was big one.
Quote:Thank you all for the warm welcome! It's so great to be able to hear all your feedback.
If you had to pick, what would be your absolute favorite storyline right now? I'm actually getting really excited for Jake Martin's return (in the form of Ricky Paull Goldin)!
Of the storylines that are currently airing, I am enjoying the Erica and Carmen on the run story. I think Lucci does a wonderful job with stories that have a little comedy mixed in to them. On top of it, Erica definitely dispensed some fabulous words of wisdom last week. Really some great stuff.
I enjoyed the JR/Adam scenes in the hospital where JR is asking his father to believe him. I wish I could buy into the Jabe relationship, but unfortunately Amanda Baker doesn't do it for me.
I'm REALLY enjoying Robert Gardner. I think David Rasche is a fabulous performer and he has me wondering as to what his character is up to.
Jesse and Angie are still good, but I must admit that Remy story kind of fizzled them for me.
Opal and Richie.... FANTASTIC!!! I really hope to get more scenes with them although I doubt I will be that lucky.
As far as upcoming stories go.... the grief sex reveal. I adore Zach and Kendall and cannot wait for these performances. I'm certain Mr. Kaye and Ms. Minshew will have me crying in my lunch.
And Ricky.... OMG Ricky!!!! I've loved him ever since he did a movie of the week with Mary Stuart Masterson, Christine Lahti and Sam Waterston.... years before he ever appeared as Dean on Another World. I can't wait until he's on AMC!!
Oh... I almost forgot to ask... what do we have to do to get some Josh and Amanda??? They would be ooooh soooo pretty together. See.....
Wow, KZ, you aren't kidding!! Josh and Amanda would be hot together. They could also have a very interesting slow burn given their history together.
Hi Julie:Kudos to you for your stepping up and telling it like it is with regard to this amnesia story. I am always happy when writers actually state the obvious and not just what TPTB want to hear. I feel it can only benefit the show if TPTB see it in print.I too am looking forward to Zach and Kendall finally dealing with all their issues especially the ONS (which should have never happened in the first place). I
I'm glad to see MEK have something to do other than yell at Adam or worry over Jenny. I like the storyline involving Tad and his uncle, Robert Gardner, and the fact that Opal is more involved in this storyline. I love all the memories it's bringing back of Ray Gardner and his reign of terror.I'm finally interested in Richie only because it's possible that he will actually pay for one of his crimes. I'd rather see Zach and JR work together on trapping Richie, but if it's JR alone, that's good too.I like Jesse and Angie, but I wish that every day wouldn't be the same thing. They're redoing their vows, pledging their undying love or sharing memories, and at some point I'd like to see AMC write something substantive for this couple.I don't understand the appeal of JR and Babe. There comes a point where a couple's history is so twisted, it can't be untwisted. I get the feeling AMC doesn't know what to do with them and is falling back to JR and Babe because they're out of ideas. That's not a reason for JR and Babe to get married for a 3rd time (4th time if you can't Paul Kramer not divorcing Babe to begin with).Last but not least--Zach and Kendall. I accept that on a soap, characters keep secrets from each other and do things to hurt people they love. But with AMC I often feel that with every misstep from Zach or Kendall, it could be the end. I don't get the sense that AMC's writers or production staff or even the network value the couple, and that's a hard hurdle for me to get past. I'm very pleased with the direction they're taking the Slaters in with the current storyline, but I can't help but feel that they're doing it under duress, and if they'd had their way, they'd smash the Slaters up even more. Until AMC writes intelligent, character-driven stories for Zach and Kendall and understands that they've got something unique with them, I'm not optimistic that AMC will be able to regain the viewership of alot of "Zendall" fans who are not watching AMC any longer.
Hi Julie another Zen fan here.I guess you know what s/l I am looking forward to. LOL yes the reveal. That is the only storyline as Zen are the only characters I stayed with AMC to watch...along with uncle Josh. I am ok with the Carmen/Erica s/l it could have been better as all the B&E stories are. They might look good on paper but when they pen it they fall flat. I also am looking forward to RPG's return, because I remember him from AW and enjoyed him very much back then. My problem with AMC like the others has said is the stupid s/l's that we have gotten, but also is the storyline potentials we have lost. The fans IMO can spec better then the writers write. IMO Greenlee's s/l could have been written so much better then this whitewashing garbage, that has infuriated so many of the fans. At the point when Kendall admitted to what she did...Greenlee could have been the one to step forward and admit to her original intent to Spike, when the accident occurred and take her punishment. Which would be in the hands of Kendall and Zach, if they wanted to press charges. At least the fans and Spike would see the justice he so rightfully deserves. Then this topic would be dead and it wouldn't be festering the fan bases. RPG looks to me like he could very easily be a relative to Zach. Why is it yet again we have another Martin coming back? Can't we have more Cambias relatives...AMC tried Lavery's and they didn't work. Why not find out that Zach's mom is alive and living somewhere or Another Amelia Child is there with her that is RBG's character? We have had plenty plot lines fall into a big pool of goo. Such as the Casino losing money..ummm when did that happen? Why aren't we seeing s/l around Chandler/Cambias or the Casino's? MY GOD what a huge error of AMC to just hand Chandler over to Adam on a silver platter. Why didn't we get the s/l of Adam and Hannah working to get it from Zach? Along with Adam and Hannah hooking up?...I thought they were hot together. What about the hint that Ethan isn't Zach's but ACS's? I could go on, but one of my fondest wishes was that they would make Greenlee and Annie half sisters. Can you imagine how fun that would be? It was never explained why Greenlee and Annie looked alike and why Annie couldn't be a bone marrow donor to Richie..These are things I'm hopeful for AMC with new writers to capture the s/l's that DON"T revolve around WTD, couple swapping, come back from the dead and introducing new characters that yet again the fans don't care about.
Hey, this Mala checking in here in an Admin capacity. While I understand people's frustration, we can't have terms like "The Idiots In Charge" being thrown about, as they are a personal attack. The term is actually on our filter now, but I'll be editing posts accordingly when I see these kinds of remarks. Thanks!
Thanks for the head's up MalaThe term so fits at times though LOL
Julie seriously I love the things you say in SOW, it's almost enough to make me to want to subscribe to SOW, but then Carolyn Hinsey starts in with the Greenlee stuff and I realize why I don't subscribe or buy the mag.
Wow, Amen to this! Greenlee should have died in the hole. She doesn't belong here anymore. I cannot understand the mentality of writers who allow a character to committ heinous crimes against children and then build a friendship between the parents of those children without there having been any justice for maiming those children .Until SOD addresses the seriousness of those crimes having gone unpunished with a long prison term, I have no intention of subscribing. Sorry, because I love the publicity TK and AM get.
Thanks Julie for your comments in the magazine about All My Children's Zach and Greenlee friendship. The believablity factor isn't there for me. No one can relate to it because it doesn't make sense, which is why it doesn't work for me and turns me off this story line. Heck even Carmen's and Erica's friendship makes more sense than Zach and Greenlee's or Kendall and Greenlee's. I do hope that with the reveal, the writing is taking a change of course. I hope that Zach and Kendall will be shown working to rebuild their relationship to where it was BEFORE these writers came to town.
I am considering cancelling my subscription to SOD and SOW after reading the latest Carolyn Hinsey column. When is she going to stop going after Alicia Minshew? This time she is criticizing her eye makeup. I work with Alicia's screen caps on a daily basis and she has one of the most natural looks of any woman on the show. She is a natural beauty and I have not found her eye makeup extreme. Why doesn't Ms. Hinsey see Rebecca Budig's eye makeup if she is going to discuss that subject. RB's eye makeup is way over the top IMO.
My intention is not to criticize Ms. Budig, but when such an obviously cruel swipe is taken against Alicia, I refuse to stay quiet. This is not the first time that your magazine has unjustly crticized this beautiful and talented actress. I question Ms. Hinsey's personal agenda and leave it at that.

Why is one of your editors going after Alicia Minshew? I think she is one of , if not the most beautiful woman on daytime. I don't think I have ever seen a more beautiful face in its symmetry, perfection and elegance. If we are not allowed personal attacks by using certain terms here, why is your staff allowed to do so in your publication? If you are unbiased, then give equal time and mention the tasteless tops that AMC dresses Bobbie Eakes in. I know her character is supposed to not have any class, but please can they try and contain those puppies? She's no spring chicken. It's embarrassing watching her. Frankly, I'm angry over the implication that all Aidan and Greenlee have is sex - no relationship. Tthey have not had the writing lately, but what couple has? Aidan and Greenlee - only sex? What about how he was the ONLY one to stand by her during the horrible situation with Spike and Ian? How they worked together with the embryo nonsense with JR? How he counseled her? Or how he broke her out of jail to save her? Or digging relentlessy in the ground to find her? Searching in the dark night after night - alone? Or maybe it was when Aidan's love revived her after she flatlined? How about when he refused to leave her side in the hospital? Or when he volunteered to be poisoned to save her? Considering RB/AT haven't even had a LOVE scene since she started - I'm failing to see the 'only about sex' thing.I'm a fan of this couple, and I've been frustrated at the lack of quality scenes between them. Their endless need to rotate the six of them has denied any opportunitiy for true Ailee moments. We got one yesterday - FINALLY! The Ailee I love. But to state all there isn't anything between them but sex is flat out wrong IMO. I know a bunch of Ailee fans that disagree as well.
My biggest issue (and I have many) with A / G - is essentailly Aidan was paired up with Greenlee to make her likeable again. The writers put Greenlee in a corner, so they called on the good guy Aidan to become her ally. But what irritates me is that one minute, Aidan is getting Greenlee to realize the pain her actions did indeed cause (intense scenes when Aidan brought Greenlee to the accident site) and the next minute they're having sex. Then they are in love? Huh??? That is part of the problem with this show - everything is rushed and forced to fit a plot point. No, I don't see substance with Aidan and Greenlee because I've seen more sex with them, then an actual relationship being built from the ground up.It is true that the writing is poor all the way around (although the last few weeks I've seen tremendous improvement and do appreciate that)...well except for days like today where the contrived Z / G friendship is once again displayed.Annie / Kendall - what I liked about this friendship - is yes, they started off on the wrong foot with each other, but slowly, they moved past it. Kendall admitted she was wrong to keep the fact that Ryan was Emma's father a secret and I think Annie saw what a warm and caring person Kendall really is.They became friends and they became a family. Did they claim to be best friends? No. Sisters? No. But they did have the start to a good, mature friendshp, that was torched when Ryan lost his memory and obsessed over Kendall.

Julie, just wanted to say hi back. The more the merrier.
