Bradford Anderson posted a Facebook statement explaining the scheduling conflict that necessitated GH temporarily recasting the role of Spinelli with DAYS alum Blake Berris (ex-Nick). “I’m appearing in a couple episodes of the upcoming season of Homeland on Showtime,” he revealed. “The unfortunate part is that it conflicted with some episodes of GH that I was supposed to do, and I had to back out of those episodes. To make it even worse, it all happened last minute,” with GH having only a weekend to find a replacement. “I put GH in a very difficult position and for that I am incredibly sorry.” Anderson asked GH fans to be “compassionate, understanding, and appreciative” of the decision GH made to tap another actor to fill in for him. For his part, Berris tweeted, “for @GeneralHospital fans. would never try 2 replicate the reputed @BfordAnderson. will b a dif take on #spinelli. and only a few eps.” Berris’s Spinelli will appear in January.
