General Hospital Recaps

GH Week of September 29, 2008

Monday

All eyes were on the bride as Kate walked down the aisle, so no one saw the sniper rifle fire a shot through Kate's belly, and bedlam ensued. Jason drew his weapon and ran for the back of the church as Sonny crouched over his fallen bride. Sonny summoned Jason back, so Jason dispatched Cody to investigate the choir box. Olivia prayed over her fallen cousin. A tearful Lulu reeled, so Johnny returned her to Shadybrook, where Tracy was not happy to find them together. She scolded Johnny and brought him to see the catatonic Laura. She warned Lulu could end up the same if Johnny doesn't leave her alone. "How can you risk it?" she demanded. Back at the church, Jason performed gunshot first aid, Kate tried to talk. Cody reported to Jason that he only found one rifle shell, meaning the sniper hit his target the first time. Maxie resolved to stick close to Spinelli, who was ordered by Jason to trace the shell casing. Spinelli instantly identified it as Russian. Sonny told Kate she was the first girl he ever loved. She slipped into unconsciousness. "I know who did this," Sonny growled to Jason. "Find proof!" Jax reassured Carly, who was disappointed to learn that Jax already knew about "Connie Falconeri." Claudia told Ric this incident illustrates why gangsters shouldn't get involved with civilians. Mac questioned Mike and Olivia, who recapped the fight with her cousin. Scotty arrived and suggested Johnny and Lulu were involved. Harper said all the guests agree on one thing: Jason had a gun. Later, at Metro Court, Carly reassured Morgan she was okay. Diane told Alexis she had warned Kate. Alexis blamed Sonny for having a public ceremony. Bernie interrupted to get Diane to get the cops off Jason's back.

Elizabeth was home preparing for her trip when a joyful Lucky and Sam arrived to take the boys to the mountains. Lucky was suspicious of Liz going away with Jason, who lives a very dangerous life. Liz was determined to go away with him, and Sam backed her. Liz went to the first-class lounge at the airport and waited anxiously for Jason to arrive. Soon, the flight started boarding, with no sign of Jason.

At GH, Monica took charge of Kate's care. Later, Leyla let Sonny in. Monica said Kate needs to be stabilized before surgery. The hollow-point bullet was lodged near her spine, and if anything goes wrong with the surgery she could be paralyzed for life. Monica blasted Sonny for getting his loved ones wounded. Sonny apologized to the unconscious Kate for bringing this down on her. When Olivia arrived she displaced Sonny in the room, pointing out she is more family than he is. Olivia told Kate she didn't "tell" Sonny their secret. "Sonny's never gonna know."

At Shadybrook, Lulu told Tracy she will follow her doctor's orders and do whatever necessary to get released. The orderly brought her a dinner tray — which contained a note reading, "You killed Logan. You should pay."

Outside Kate's room, Jason reported on the shell casing trace. "I want that bastard Karpov dead," Sonny screamed. "Send a message: He doesn't go anywhere near me or mine." At the docks, Claudia accused Karpov of shooting Kate, but he professed innocence. Ric returned to Crimson Point and found Anthony standing while disassembling a sniper rifle: "Looks like you caught me," he shrugged.

Tuesday

The orderly denied putting any note in Lulu's tray, and she was furious to find the message had disappeared. At Metro Court, Carly assured Morgan that she and Sonny were okay, but "a bad guy shot Kate." Jax promised the child the police would catch the bad guy. Carly took Morgan home. When Johnny showed up for a drink, Jax insisted he leave. Lulu called Johnny to tell him someone knows she killed Logan. Later, Carly explained to Morgan that his Daddy worked with dangerous people, and sometimes bystanders (like Michael and Kate) get hurt, and that's why he doesn't see much of his father. Jax arrived and told Carly he booked a suite at Metro Court to protect them, so they moved in. Later, Carly called him her hero. At Shadybrook, a breathless Lulu told Johnny about the note, but he was skeptical. He suggested she's torturing herself. He said he "met" Laura: "She can't move; she can't speak. You made her up." "So what?" Lulu asked. "The note is real." Johnny said, "You wrote it to yourself." Johnny said she needs help he cannot provide, and tried to leave. She followed him into the hall and screamed, "I'm not crazy!" as orderlies dragged her away.

At the hospital, Jason urged Sonny to be cautious before seeking retribution, but Sonny demanded Jason send a message tonight. Spinelli said the bullet and rifle were Russian, but Jason pointed out that anyone can buy a Russian gun. Meanwhile, at Crimson Point, Anthony boasted that he hit his target: Kate. "I don't want Sonny dead," he growled. "I've got big plans for him." Anthony explained he used Russian ordnance to frame Karpov. He planned for Sonny to order Karpov killed, but for Jason to keep a cool head. Anthony predicted Sonny will come to him for help and they will form a partnership. Anthony will goad Sonny into killing Jason, then kill Sonny. Trevor arrived, upset about Kate's shooting and blaming Sonny for breaking his deal with Karpov. Claudia arrived to report that Karpov didn't shoot Kate. Trevor called Claudia "a spiteful bitch" for speaking Kate's name. He warned Ric that Claudia will suck him dry. Mac and Harper showed up to question the Zaccharas, who pleaded innocence while Trevor tried to finger Karpov. Anthony ordered Claudia "comfort" Sonny and assure him the Z's had nothing to do with Kate's shooting.

At Kate's GH bedside, Olivia wondered how Connie had resisted telling Sonny "the truth." Monica told Sonny that Kate needs to get stronger before Patrick can operate. Jason called Elizabeth at the airport to apologize for missing the flight, but Kate got shot. Sonny spotted Karpov in the hall and jumped in, screaming, "You're a dead man!" Karpov insisted he had nothing to do with her shooting, and the truce is still in effect. Karpov left. Sonny insisted Jason "wipe that bastard off the face of the Earth!" Meanwhile, Olivia recalled good times (like Catholic school uniforms) with her cousin, noting, "You were like my sister." But while was mad at Connie for abandoning her family, Olivia was proud that Kate made her dreams come true, and wondered why she would risk it all to pursue Sonny again. Olivia recalled Connie warning her away from Sonny while they were dating, but then he dumped Liv and went after Connie. "If I would have just told him the truth, you wouldn't be lying here right now," Olivia sobbed. Outside, Sonny asked Jason to do him a favor and get payback, but Jason declined, citing his responsibilities as a boss. "Then you're a coward and a traitor!" Sonny screamed. When Sonny tried to reenter Kate's room, Olivia called him a liar: "You told me you were out of the mob!" He insisted he was out, but she demanded he take responsibility for Connie's shooting by saying, "I did this."

Wednesday

Jax balked at making love with Carly, insisting, "Our marriage is still over." Carly noted he instinctively tried to protect her during Kate's shooting, indicating he still loves her. "What's more important than love?" she asked. "We also have to have happiness," he replied. He was unwilling to try again, because she's always compelled to test his love, and to lie and be unfaithful. "It hurts too much to be your husband," he admitted. He blamed her for sleeping with Sonny, and himself for not being able to get past it. "I just can't be with you," he said, and then left.

Anthony encouraged Claudia to cozy up to Sonny, but Ric called it "the worst idea [he] could come up with," because Sonny is looking to lash out. Anthony egged her on, so she left. Then Anthony congratulated himself for his Byzantine plot. A furious Johnny burst in, worried that he drove Lulu into complete insanity. Trevor arrived and told the guys Karpov is trying to land a shipment. Ric advised letting it go through as an insult to Jason. Johnny took off, heading for the docks, intent on taking out a boat.

Outside Kate's room, Sonny said what Olivia wanted to hear: "If Kate dies, her blood is on my hands." He insisted he tried to make a new life, but swore to make whoever was responsible "pay with their life." Olivia said violence leads to more violence. Meanwhile, Elizabeth told Jason that Kate getting shot "doesn't change anything for me." She wanted to reschedule their trip, but Jason bailed. He brought her to see Kate and asked, "What if it was you, Elizabeth?" She rushed out, and Sonny asked Jason if Liz was lying there, wouldn't he do anything to get revenge? Jason declined to act, but Sonny — afraid of looking weak — vowed revenge. Robin arrived and promised she and Patrick will be on Kate's case. Sonny wanted to know when Patrick could operate, but Olivia pointed out that since Sonny and Kate weren't married, Olivia makes the call, and she's skeptical of Patrick's skills. Patrick said the longer the bullet stays in, the greater the risk of her being paralyzed...but if they go in too soon, she could die on the table. Patrick claimed he beats worse odds all the time.

Carly called Jason to ask if Morgan is safe. He went to Metro Court and told her Kate was the target, and while the evidence points to Karpov, Jason wasn't too sure, and feared starting an unnecessary war. Back at GH, Claudia met up with Sonny and offered her condolences. While Sonny wanted no part of her, she insisted the Zaccharas had nothing to do with the shooting. She reported back to Ric later, and wondered why he's going along with Anthony's belief that Karpov is guilty. He tried to kiss her, but she playfully rebuffed him. Back at GH, Olivia told Sonny that Connie would not want to be paralyzed. Sonny reminded Olivia to think of what will save Kate's life. Inside, Kate briefly woke up while Patrick was examining her. "I should have told," she stammered. "Sonny has —" and then passed out.

At Wyndemere, Nikolas and Nadine ate dinner, and she thanked him with a kiss for saving her from Karpov's ship. He abruptly left her to go for a ride. Later, Nadine told Nikolas she didn't want to be alone, and how, after he rescued her from drowning, she vowed not to waste a chance to be with him. She kissed him and they made love.

Thursday

Nikolas and Nadine awoke and started to get busy, but Alfred interrupted with breakfast — which freaked out Nadine so much that she got out of bed, told Nik last night was "totally no pressure," and "Seeya around," then left. Nik asked Alfred if Nadine seemed odd. "No more than usual," the butler replied. Nik was disappointed that spending the night apparently meant nothing to her. Nadine went to GH and recapped to Leyla about spending the night with Nik. She gushed that it was like every fantasy she'd ever had times 1,000. Then she started acting all casual, saying, "it's just sex," and "one-night stands happen all the time." Then she confessed that Alfred spooked her, and Nik was so casual that she felt the need to overcompensate. Later, Nik went to Metro Court and asked Carly to buy her half of the hotel (because he liked the view). Carly suggested he was just looking for a diversion after Emily. Nadine strolled in just in time to see a giggling Carly adjust Nik's collar.

At PCPD, Scotty questioned Johnny about ramming his boat into a freighter in the harbor. Scott scolded him for thinking he can get away with anything because he's rich. Johnny laughed and said the law protects him, so without double-jeopardy he said, "I killed your sorry-ass little son, and I enjoyed every second of it." He claimed Logan "whined like a little bitch," and Johnny laughed in his face before killing him. Scott freaked and punched Johnny. Ric and Claudia burst in, and she demanded Scotty be arrested for assault. Ric and Claudia pointed out the harbor patrol saw no freighter, so Johnny should walk. Scott insisted on holding Johnny for 24 hours, but Ric threatened to call down a media circus, so Scott relented. He pointed out that since Lulu is crazy and doesn't recognize Johnny, "you're already dead." Claudia offered to give Ric his "reward" for getting Johnny off, but Ric put her off because he wanted to hang out and gather intel.

At GH, Sonny encouraged Kate to take back her life. When Olivia came in he thanked her for waiting for Kate to get stronger before greenlighting the operation. Olivia chided him for fooling Connie into believing he was out of the mob. He insisted he did retire, but it didn't take. When Patrick came in to examine Kate, he mentioned she briefly woke up and asked him to tell Sonny something, but lost consciousness before she could say what. Alone, Sonny told Kate he was right about falling back in love with her, and urged her to "beat the odds," and "come back to me." He reminisced about the wedding, adding, "I would lay down my life for you." Then she woke up. "Sonny," she gasped. "You okay? You need to know —" but he cut her off. Then she passed out and Epiphany came in to prep her for surgery. Meanwhile, Olivia visited Carly at Metro Court, and asked her if Sonny was lying when he told Connie he was out of the mob. Carly said Sonny genuinely wanted to get out of the business, and even sold it to Jason. But Carly confessed she's keeping Morgan away from him, and Sonny felt she and Jason had betrayed him. And Sonny's all about revenge...so he secretly went into business with Karpov but then walked away. Obviously Karpov sent a message that no one walks away. Olivia lamented that Sonny lied and made Connie a target. Back in the room, Sonny told pregnant Robin that she gives him hope that life goes on, and praised her for being a nonstop role model. Later, Patrick found Robin in the locker room, looking upset. She said Sonny reminded her that time is precious, and so is love, so she asked him: "Will you marry me?"

Kate survived her surgery. At her bedside, Sonny admitted, "I have become the violence." "I'm going back. No one will ever come after me or mine again," he hissed — just as Jason arrived.

Friday

At Metro Court, Nikolas assured Carly she will have a job when he buys the hotel. Carly didn't want to sell, fearing that Nik was too unfamiliar with the service industry. Nadine lurked, trying to eavesdrop, but Marty caught her. She asked how long "this has been going on?" Nik said if she sells, she won't have to deal with Jax during the divorce, and will have cash to start over. She promised to think about it. Nadine confronted Carly, demanding an explanation for her consorting with Nik. Nadine's babbling clued in Carly, who assured her there was nothing going on. Later, Nik sought out Jax, but he rebuffed the sale offer again. Still later, Jax summoned Carly to point out that Nik is pitting them against each other. She told Jax to sell his half of MC. After leaving MC, Nadine summoned Spinelli to the pier, where she babbled to him about her night with Nik. As the dark prince approached, Nadine kissed Spinelli.

At Kate's bedside, Sonny vowed, "Whatever it takes, Kate, I'm gonna keep you safe." Sonny told Olivia that Kate will walk again. She asked him who's going to tell Connie he's still in the mob — him, or her? Olivia wanted him to forget revenge and turn the other cheek, but he said he tried that when Michael was shot. Then he recapped the whole story of the shooting and quitting the mob. Patrick came in and told a stunned Olivia that Kate tried to tell him something to pass on to Sonny. Mac arrived, seeking Sonny's statement. Sonny insisted he saw nothing, then left.

In the GH locker room, Robin once again asked Patrick to marry her. "No," he replied. He worried she's just overreacting to Sonny's situation. She said her father's colon cancer was the kicker. "Life is short, and love is rare," she insisted. He didn't want her to regret a decision made out of fear. She said she doesn't want to drift apart. He said he loves her too much to marry her, then kissed her and walked away. Anna arrived and consoled Robin, who vented about the fragility of life, and how hers (and her daughter's) would be better with Patrick in it.

Bernie tried to convince Spinelli to remind Jason he has to think of the organization first, not Sonny's wishes. When Jason arrived, Bernie told him himself. But Spinelli urged Jason to strike on Sonny's behalf, because if he doesn't, Sonny might strike at Jason — who wouldn't fight back. Jason said he must either betray Sonny or his organization. Later, Sonny went to Jason and instructed him to do what he says, adding, "I'm taking over." Meanwhile, back at GH, Olivia left Kate to place a call to...someone, assuring them Connie is okay. Then the call turned sour, and she shouted, "Dante Angelo Falconeri...I am your mother." In the room, Kate awakened as Patrick examined her. She gasped, "Sonny has to know Olivia had his baby."
