GH Week Of June 23, 2008
Monday
At the police station, Alexis ordered Jerry and Jax released. Jax accused his brother of taking advantage of Alexis. Jerry praised their "fabulous, memorable, soon-to-be-repeated sex" — prompting Alexis to announce to the whole station that she slept with Jerry. This horrified Diane, who dragged Alexis into the interrogation room to scold her for oversharing. Diane was shocked that Alexis had real feelings for the terrorist, but Alexis noted she doesn't know how to have "meaningless sex." And, the psychopath vowed to protect her daughter. Jerry was waiting for Alexis to come out of interrogation, so she sent Diane to run interference. He burst in and kissed Alexis. At home, Jax told Carly that Jerry cannot be trusted to not hurt Alexis. Carly suddenly felt dizzy and nauseous. Jax remembered that they are on a soap, so he suggested she must be pregnant.
In Sonny's study, Kate and Sonny joked about how complicated their love is, but he wondered, "Who the hell do I think I am to want to have a future with you when my future is still uncertain?" She wondered if he was breaking up with her. While she had no regrets, he wondered if he has the "right" to be happy. She said he's the best man for her. He said her love has changed something fundamental inside him. Then he quoted Jack Nicholson in As Good as It Gets: "You make me want to be a better man." While she remained standing, he sat on the couch and said, "Kate, I want to marry you. I want you to be my wife." After bantering about her not running away this time, she finally said, "Yes, I will marry you." She cried a happy cry, and then he showed her the giant, 5-carat ring. She admitted it was "big and flashy," but he has made her very happy. Then she immediately started making plans. She wasn't sure she wanted to give up her house, but she was sure she wanted Diane to draw up a pre-nup.
Robin told Patrick she needs a home-care nurse — not to move in together, because he would go crazy. She still thinks he won't love the child. Patrick said he deserves a little respect. She noted that they love each other, but she doesn't want to compromise his "high-octane" bachelor life. He insisted he wants to explore the possibility of fatherhood. She insisted she wants to rely on herself alone. Then she secretly summoned Elizabeth, who arrived and handed Jake to Patrick to babysit, then fled.
At the penthouse, Claudia offered a reluctant Jason a sponge bath. He ordered Spinelli to hack into the Health Department and get the quarantine lifted. Claudia pointed out that would endanger the entire city. Claudia got a call from her father, who ordered her to kill the infirm Jason. Later, she brought him soup, which he refused. While Claudia eavesdropped, Spinelli reported that some had transferred cash out of Ian's offshore accounts.
At the Quartermaine boathouse, a bikini-clad Maxie flirted shamelessly with Johnny, going so far as to take off her top so he could apply sunblock. After Johnny "chickened-out," Maxie told them about Claudia, Jason and Spinelli being quarantined together. When Lulu and Johnny took a dip, Maxie answered Johnny's phone. As Logan eavesdropped, Anthony told her to send Johnny to the Metro Court. Lulu told Maxie that Johnny isn't interested, so Maxie left. Johnny tried to reassure Lulu, but their make-out session was interrupted by another call from Anthony, who told him Claudia has an "opportunity." At Metro Court later, Maxie got into an elevator with Johnny. She accused him of ogling her earlier. He told her to try to be decent. Then the elevator got stuck. Meanwhile, back at the Q boathouse, a leering Logan told a shocked, bikini-clad Lulu that she looks good.
Back at the penthouse, Jason fell asleep, and Claudia sent Spinelli upstairs to sleep. Then she approached the sleeping Jason with a pillow....
Tuesday
Patrick had to change Jake himself, and eventually got it right — but only after the poor, dumb man put the diaper on backward. They fed the child together, and after he fell asleep, Patrick complained about what a burden Jake was. Then Elizabeth returned, and Patrick revealed he figured out it was a scam and played the women. Patrick insisted he was "great" with Jake. Robin confessed she did it to prove he doesn't "want" the burden of a child. Liz advised them to remain honest with each other (She's an expert, right?), and talk it out before the baby arrives. Patrick and Robin each thought Liz sided with them.
Carly insisted she felt faint because her blood sugar was low — "I'm not having a baby." Jax insisted, "There is a chance," and asked her to take a home pregnancy test. She flatly refused, noting that a baby won't fill the void left by Michael. "I can't imagine being pregnant right now," she said. The argument was interrupted by the return of Morgan. Jax left to take the babysitter home.
Sonny was stunned by Kate's pre-nup request. He assured her that he's "still pretty wealthy" and won't go after her assets. "I'm not worried about you," she said. She's worried about the Feds coming after Sonny's assets because of his criminal past. He admitted his past could come back to bite him, so she doesn't have to marry him. Kate said she built an empire so she could marry for love, not money, thus, nothing will stop her from marrying him. When they kissed she suggested waiting until their wedding night, but Sonny balked. She got in a bath, and he climbed in with her. They toasted with wine and made love. Later, Kate told someone on the phone that things have changed. At the penthouse, Claudia told Jason that his fever had broken — just as Spinelli stumbled down the stairs and collapsed. Delirious, Spinelli babbled about Jason confronting his "father figure" Sonny, and how the new king must usurp the old. Spinelli said Jason would kill Sonny, because Sonny will force Jason to kill him as penance for Michael's shooting. Claudia agreed with that prediction (showing remarkable insight into a man she doesn't know all that well). Spinelli got worse, so Claudia called an ambulance and Spinelli was taken to the hospital (since he wasn't contagious anymore).
Maxie flirted with Johnny while they were trapped in the Metro Court elevator. She admitted she wanted to punish Lulu for ruining Georgie's marriage. Maxie said Lulu is just a drama queen trying to live up to the legend of her parents, and that Lulu wants the same kind of inappropriate man her father was. Back at the Quartermaine boathouse, Logan tried to warn Lulu away from Johnny and the evil Zaccharas. She said they are not getting back together, then she left. In the elevator, Maxie diagnosed Johnny as being at war with himself over Lulu, and suggested he would be better off with a kindred spirit like her. The doors suddenly opened and Lulu stood there. She dragged Maxie out and they got into an argument. Maxie ended the standoff by making a crack about Lulu ending up in a rocking chair facing the wall. In the Metro Court lobby, meanwhile, Logan met Scotty, but then confronted Johnny over Lulu. After some trash talk they got into a brawl. Scotty called he cops and had Johnny arrested while Logan laughed. Upstairs, Lulu scolded Maxie for making fun of Laura's medical condition. Maxie admitted she went too far, but suggested that bad-boy Luke contributed to Laura going crazy, and Lulu is taking a lot of the same chances. Maxie said she's happy to break up Lulu and Johnny, but doesn't want Lulu to lose her mind. Lulu insisted she's not her mother and she's not going to go crazy over Johnny.
Later, Carly was musing aloud to a sleeping Morgan that there's a chance she could be pregnant — and the baby's could be either Sonny's or Jax's. Then she heard a noise and noticed Jax had returned.
Wednesday
Patrick suggested that he should decide how involved he is in their child's life. Robin made a point of referring only to "my child" and claimed he doesn't want to be a father. He insisted that he's changed, and being a dad "isn't so bad." Channeling Yoda, she said there is no trying to be a family. Either they are or they aren't — and they aren't. Patrick reminded her that his mother died and his father became an alcoholic. Robin noted she thought her parents were dead at one point. She doesn't want "my child" to feel abandoned, because that would hurt "my baby" more than never knowing its father at all. She didn't want to invest in a future that isn't going to be there, because she questions his sincerity. Maxie arrived and agreed to take care of Robin, who urged Patrick to leave and go be "Patrick the Bachelor" and leave the nesting to her. He left reluctantly.
Kate told Lulu and Maxie she is marrying Sonny, but they were underwhelmed. As Sonny eavesdropped, Lulu noted that Sonny and Carly always end up back together. Kate got the girls involved in planning and dragged Sonny into discussing such issues as whether to marry in Port Charles or Manhattan. Sonny wanted to marry in a couple of weeks, but Kate said more like November. Maxie suggested marrying at Kate's, which Kate liked. Jason called Maxie to tell her Spinelli was in the hospital, so she left. Sonny sent Lulu home so they could talk. He explained he's already had five weddings (noting his "big and splashy" wedding to Brenda was aborted); Kate wants his "last" to be special. He wondered if he's asking for too much happiness. She said he's being too hard on himself; Michael would want him to be happy. He wished his children could be part of their happiness.
Jax assumed Carly was telling the sleeping Morgan she's afraid to be pregnant again. He agreed to stop pushing her to take a pregnancy test, then carried Morgan to bed. When he returned, she told him she's not ready to be pregnant again. Jax suggested it could help everyone heal, but she wondered if it might tear them apart. She feels detached from her life because of an agonizing grief over Michael that leaves her feeling "completely and utterly alone." Later, she suggested having corn dogs — which Jax suggested might be a pregnancy craving. Kate called and suggested a wedding piece for Crimson — "my wedding to Sonny!" He congratulated her, and told her, "I think Carly might be pregnant." Carly was furious — and jealous — so he told her Kate is marrying Sonny.
At GH, Claudia wanted to join Jason's vigil for Spinelli, but Jason ordered her to leave. When Spinelli awoke he was still loopy. Maxie arrived and assured Claudia she's still working on Johnny. Maxie then visited Spinelli and promised to be his nurse again, because "I don't know what I would do without you." But she thought he had been trying to impress Giselle. When Jason arrived Maxie said goodbye with a kiss. Spinelli bemoaned being a wimp, but Jason said he counts on the Jackal. Claudia got call from Johnny who told her he was arrested. Liz checked on Jason, who was mooning over her.
Scotty wanted to file attempted murder charges against Johnny for attacking Logan "like a rabid dog." Trevor and Anthony suggested it was a mistake — and Logan said Johnny made it. So Anthony fired him. When Claudia arrived, Anthony asked if she killed Jason. She said she couldn't do it with Spinelli there. She visited her brother to sing Jason's praises. As she stroked his wounded face, a peeping Lulu was aghast.
A flabbergasted Carly felt Sonny was "forgetting" Michael. Jax admitted that he hopes she's pregnant. Meanwhile, Kate told Sonny that Carly might be pregnant, and he was stunned.
Thursday
Carly was still feeling queasy, so Jax bugged her about taking a pregnancy test again. "Maybe I don't want to know," she snapped. With Morgan already a target she didn't want to put another baby in danger. And, besides, "It's too soon." He apologized for pressuring her. After he left, she called...someone. At the Crimson offices, Kate told Maxie she's decided on a fall wedding and wants to get the ball rolling on her gown, shoes, Sonny's tuxedo, the flowers — oh, and Carly's pregnant. Later, Jax visited and told Kate that Carly hasn't taken a test yet, so don't say anything about the pregnancy. Carly, meanwhile, met Diane at Jake's to tell her she might be pregnant and the father could be Sonny or Jax. Then Max interrupted to pass condolences to "Mrs. C." Diane told Carly that Sonny does have full legal rights to any new child. She advised telling Jax everything, but Carly balked. She said she knows how to stop Sonny from endangering another child.
Nikolas arrived at the clinic only to find Nadine already there, raring to go. Leyla stopped by to volunteer — but there were no customers. Later, Mayor Floyd arrived to gloat over the lack of patients. Nik accused the mayor of trying to drown the clinic in red tape and scare away customers to protect the big-money HMOs and drug companies. Suddenly, Nadine returned, leading a parade of patients. Floyd warned Nik, "You won't be open for long." Nadine told Nik that "Nurse Ducky" helped her bring in the throngs. Lucky visited, and Nik told him he wished Emily could see the clinic, which hurt Nadine's feelings.
Anthony promised to spring Johnny, but warned his son that he's not ready to hand over the family business yet. Johnny confessed that Logan provoked him about Lulu. Anthony was sure Johnny was jailed in lieu of himself. Meanwhile, Jerry surprised Alexis in her office, and they made out until interrupted by Claudia, who complained that Scotty is abusing his post as special prosecutor and sparred with Jerry. Alexis tossed her out and demanded to know what's going on between Claudia and Jerry. Claudia visited Johnny in interrogation and told him to break up with Lulu (What a novel idea, right?) because she's whiny and stupid. But he said he loves her. Jerry told Alexis he had only kissed Claudia; no sex. Alexis told him to never visit her at work again. After he left, Scotty visited to agitate for throwing the book at Johnny, but Alexis was skeptical of the entire case. Scott accused her of rolling over because Ric is representing Johnny, and threatened to replace her as DA. Alexis told Lucky to investigate the brawl. Next, Anthony came in to ask Alexis to drop the charges against his son. He also asked how Kristina is enjoying her day camp, and suggested "a child can drown in a matter of seconds," horrifying Alexis. "Ease my worries, and I'll ease yours," he said. Alexis went to Jerry and said Anthony has someone watching Kristina and was threatening to hurt her. Jerry vowed to fix that.
Tracy asked Monica for advice about Lulu. Monica noted her own lousy track record as a parent — she let Jason choose mob life — and urged Tracy to do "everything" to get Lulu away from the mob. "Save that girl's life," she commanded. So Tracy visited Johnny and asked if his father killed his mother. She said Lulu will pay the same price that his mother did, then launched into the Standard Spiel About Keeping Lulu Safe. Then Officer Reilly announced Lulu's arrival (as if he was a Zacchara butler). Meanwhile, Ric suggested it would be better for Claudia if Johnny stayed locked up, because she could become Anthony's favorite. Claudia insisted that Anthony only loves Johnny, and she shares power with him.
On her way to visit Spinelli, Maxie literally bumped into a new doctor at General Hospital.
Friday
At the police station, Tracy warned Johnny to protect Lulu, who promised Tracy wouldn't break them up. Tracy suggested Lulu will end up at Shady Brook, and Johnny agreed! Meanwhile, Alexis recounted Anthony's threat against Kristina to Jerry, who said, "I'll take it from here." Later, Ric came by with a court order for Johnny's release. Alexis said the charges were being dropped anyway. Lulu suggested going for a drive to celebrate, but Claudia wanted to take him home to Daddy, so Johnny went with his sister (to Lulu's dismay). Nikolas later visited Alexis, who confessed that she asked Jerry for help. "I've just unleashed Mr. Craig," she cried. Unleashed is right — Jerry burst into the Zacchara suite and took Johnny hostage at gunpoint.
Robin was trying to leave for work when Patrick arrived with hot chocolate, donuts, eggs and cheese. Robin started in with the "it's-my-baby" stuff, and he started with the "I'm-trying-to-grow-up" stuff, but Anna broke it up, noting: "Mother's here." Anna refused to let Robin go to work, and scolded Patrick for not doing enough. Robin actually tied to defend Patrick (!) but Anna would have none of it, dismissing him with the warning, "Don't make me get physical." She said the Agency can get along without her for a while. When Anna took a debriefing call, Robin sneaked out. At the nurses' station, Patrick presented her with a petition for visitation with his unborn child. Robin was incredulous, but Patrick insisted on bonding with the kid.
After colliding with Maxie at the nurses' station the new doctor crushed her PDA and acted like a jerk. Then Nikolas happened by and told "Dr. Matt Hunter" (played by Kirsten Storms' former DAYS OF OUR LIVES leading man Jason Cook) that he was paying for Matt's fellowship. And since that fellowship honors the memory of Emily, he better learn humility. Then Nik introduced Matt to Patrick, who warned the rookie not to bother getting cocky with Patrick around. Claudia visited Spinelli and discovered Jason spent all night there. Spinelli suggested Vixenella has feelings for Stone Cold — then babbled his head off about Jason and Elizabeth. Maxie arrived and told Jason to be nice to Spinelli. After Jason left, Spinelli admitted he provoked him, and Maxie wondered if someone was going to disappear. Fearing for Claudia, Spinelli leaped out of bed, but Maxie dragged him back in — just as Matt entered and saw them in a heap.
Jason went home to the penthouse, where Diane was cleaning the place in mask and gloves. She hinted that he should talk to Carly about...something and questioned why he's so bonded with Carly. He said they are friends who would do anything for each other. Diane suggested Sonny is just with Kate as a vacation from Carly. Meanwhile, Carly found Sonny waiting for her at home. "I know you're pregnant," he said. "Am I the father?" She said she hasn't taken a test yet — which he took as evidence that she's sure she is. "You're definitely not the father," she countered, naming Jason. Sonny scoffed, but Carly said the pain over Michael brought them together: "This baby is his." Carly predicted Kate would dump Sonny if she knew they slept together. "If this is my baby, I'm not letting you take it away from me," he warned. Carly went to Jason's penthouse and showed Jason a pregnancy test. She needed to see "if you and I are having a baby." At the offices of Crimson, Jax told Kate the mag shouldn't do a feature on her marriage to "known" mobster Sonny. She pointed out he's never been convicted. He called Sonny a "bad investment." After he left, Sonny arrived and told Kate she deserves to know what's going on with Carl, but Kate wasn't interested, preferring to dismiss Carly as just jealous. She wanted to talk wedding, and suggested a Sept. 26 date. He said no matter what happens with Carly he'll spend the rest of his life with Kate. When Jax arrived, Sonny told him, "If you think Carly is pregnant, you might want to get a paternity test."
