General Hospital Recaps

GH Week of July 6, 2009

Monday

Jason was shocked to hear Spinelli singing horribly, and Maxie worried he
would embarrass himself. Later, he was excited about singing her a love
ballad. "I can't let you do this," she said, asking him not to make a public
spectacle of himself. She suggested they have sex, but he stressed the need
for "chivalrous deeds," and she agreed to let his sing — provided he gets
lots of practice. He was overjoyed — until he overheard her tell Patrick
that Spinelli's singing is so horrible that fears he will embarrass himself
at karaoke night, which will make him feel less manly, and ruin their
relationship.

Sonny blasted Johnny for letting the shooter who threatened his family get
away. Claudia came in, and piled on, stating, "no loose ends ever!" Then
Olivia walked in and scolded Sonny for being unfair to Johnny because she's
sleeping with him. Johnny vowed to fix his screw-up, and left. Claudia laid
into the "Bensonhurst slag-heap," who countered that Sonny is getting
exactly what he deserves for marrying Claudia. After she left, Sonny told
Claudia to tell Johnny to stay away from Olivia. Johnny met Jason at the
garage and they geared up to go after the loose end.

On the Quartermaine grounds, Morgan enjoyed riding in Michael's car, while
Michael teased him about Jason getting hurt while his brother was driving.
Inside the Q mansion, Carly berated Edward for indulging Michael — and
endangering his life. When the boys returned, Carly said she was glad they
had fun. She went to see Jax, and told him the Michael situation is
untenable; she wants Michael to "hold the reins" of his own life. Back at
the Q manse, Michael thanked Edward for running interference with his mom.
When Sonny visited, Michael said he misses him. Sonny wanted to take away
the car keys until Michael gets his license. On cue, Carly arrived with
Michael's temporary driver's license.

At G.H., Robin laid out her suspicions while Andrea eavesdropped: Mayor
Floyd loved Brianna and wanted to marry her, so he had no motive to kill
her, and she had no motive to blackmail him. Robin thinks Andrea killed
Brianna to save her marriage. When Alexis arrived and asked if they have any
alternate suspects in the case, Robin said she doesn't want to leap to any
conclusions. Alexis called Floyd a ruthless politician who was capable of
being a nice guy. Later, Robin said she's going to the Metro Court to work
on her theory, noting she comes from a long line of sleuths.

At the lake house, Dominic told Kristina he an be useful to her father, and
asked her for access to his house. Kris was skeptical, but he said he wants
to be on security detail because he's protective by nature, and promised to
pay her back. When Molly arrived, Dom fled. Molly realized Kris thinks Dom
is cute, and noted, "You don't have to know a guy to flirt with him." The
sisters pinky-swore not to tell mom. When Molly asked about mom and the
mayor, Kris advised her to pretend it's not happening. Alexis returned home,
and invited her girls to movie. While Molly was changing, Kristina said
Molly doesn't understand about the mayor. Kris declined to go to the movie.
She stayed behind to lock up. After the lights went out, Andrea creeped up,
grabbed the hidden spare key and let herself inside. She located Alexis'
computer, and set to work.

Dom brought a pizza to a gun-wielding man in a cabin in the woods, and noted
that Sonny has no idea they're hiding out there. Outside, Johnny and Jason
advanced on the cabin (which had a helpful porch light). Jason and Johnny
bust in and shot two men dead. Meanwhile, Dominic sneaked up on Olivia and
grabbed her from behind as she entered her apartment.

Tuesday

GENERAL HOSPITAL was preempted. Recaps will resume on Wednesday.

Wednesday

Jason and Johnny fled the Zacchara cabin after hearing sirens. They returned to Sonny's to find Claudia on the phone, and they wondered who alerted the cops. She insisted she would never rat out her brother. "We were set up!" Johnny insisted. At the Quartermaine manse, Carly told Michael she got him a temporary license because she trusts him. Sonny balked, then he and Carly accused each other of manipulating their son. Jason called Sonny to report the mission did not go well. Michael apologized to Carly for acting like a jerk. Then Michael went to show Morgan the temp license. Michael explained to his brother that he feels useless when their mom helps him, and that makes him lash out. But now that she trusts him, he feels great. Michael gave Morgan his St. Christopher's medal, which protects travelers.

At the lake house, Andrea worked on Alexis' computer while Kristina was upstairs. When the kid went downstairs, she found her mother's e-mail account open — and her mailbox was filled with stalker-type messages directed to Mayor Floyd. Alexis abruptly returned home and chided Kris her for using the computer. A suspicious Kristina asked her mom if she loves the mayor. Alexis said no, and pointed out that she is frequently at odds with the mayor. They had sex one time and agreed to never speak of it again. Later, Michael arrived to tell Kris about his car, only to find her in tears over the volume of stalker e-mails she found on her mother's computer.

At the penthouse, Spinelli realized his singing really is horrible. When Patrick and Robin arrived, the sleuthing docs wanted his help fingering their new suspect in Brianna's murder, Andrea. But Spinelli begged off, citing the need to practice for karaoke night. in exchange for the Jackal's immediate help, Patrick said Eli Love told him about pitch-correction software for singers. Later, Maxie arrived, and told Spinelli: "As a singer, you suck." But he determined to prove himself worthy of her love. Later, Spinelli tested a new microphone and software that corrects a singing voice. Jason arrived and complimented him on learning to sing so quickly, but Spinelli came clean. At Metro Court, meanwhile, Robin pressed Patrick to sign up to sing at Jake's karaoke night. Andrea walked by, then called Alexis to demand they meet. When Alexis arrived, Andrea started screaming at her to stop calling and e-mailing her husband. Alexis fled, and Andrea told Patrick, "that woman is obsessed with my husband!"

"Damn it Dante!" Olivia shouted, slapping Dominic and scolding him for teasing her. Then they shared a laugh and embraced. "I've missed you," she sighed. She wondered why he was in town, but he deflected attention to her, noticing a man's wristwatch on the table. "You seeing someone?" he asked. "Tell me the guy in question is not Sonny Corinthos." Olivia reminded him that they don't talk about such things. Liv acknowledged that while she does not know who Dante's father is, she has no regrets about having him. Later, Johnny arrived and sensed something wrong with Liv. She put off his fears and they went back to kissing. Johnny said he likes that she never makes him explain his life. Dante/Dominic, meanwhile, met Claudia at the pier to tell her he wants to join Sonny's organization. She feared he would be connected to her — pointing out that Michael and Morgan can identify him. Meanwhile, Sonny wondered why two jobs with Johnny went wrong, and who called the cops. He reasoned that someone is out to take down the Zacchara faction — and decided to let it happen. He ordered a cease-fire — one exception: Jason needs to find the guy who grabbed his family. Jason sought out Carly for more details about the gunman. Sonny then questioned Claudia about the Z faction, but she preferred to hint that Johnny was with Olivia. Claudia sniped about Liv being a skank he dated from the old neighborhood, and Sonny has no business caring about her — all while Dominic/Dante eavesdropped from the terrace. Claudia suddenly felt baby kick, and put Sonny's hand on her belly. In the afterglow at Olivia's, Johnny and Liv talked a bit about their families. Olivia recalled that when she showed up pregnant at 16 he family went nuts. Johnny asked if Dante is anything like his father? "I was a little wild when I was a kid," Liv confessed. She claimed she doesn't know who knocked her up, and doesn't care. She said she told Dante "the truth" about his father, and averred, "My son will never know his father."

Thursday

At G.H., Robin badgered Patrick to sing at Jake's. She invited Matt, who balked — and added that he doesn't need their help defending himself against the malpractice lawsuit. He was disgusted when a patient delayed surgery to avoid having Matt perform it. After Matt left, Andrea told Robin and Patrick she's going to ask Brianna's family to drop the malpractice suit if Brianna was murdered.

Maxie burst in on Jason, who complained about Spinelli practicing at the penthouse all night. When she heard Spinelli singing — and sounding pitch perfect — she praised him and asked how he improved so quickly. He said he's been practicing and hinted that the microphone is special — but she is his inspiration. An ecstatic Maxie looked forward to hearing him sing front of everyone. After she left, Spinelli fretted over coming clean about the pitch-correcting mic, because there is nothing honorable or courtly about deceiving her. When Jason wondered why singing matters, Spinelli insisted he needs to impress Maxie or lose her to more exciting, glamorous men. Jason advised Spinelli to to give Maxie some credit and trust her. Spinelli begged Jason to accompany him to Jake's, and he agreed. Then two police officers appeared at the door, asking about the dead Zacchara men. Maxie went to Jake's, where she ran into Matt, who ordered shooters, but Coleman wouldn't serve him. Matt called Spinelli a geek and complained about the lawsuit. Maxie told Matt she knows how he feels, but self-destructive impulses are always a mistake. She told him not to waste time comparing himself to his brother the way she used to compare herself to Georgie. She now emphasizes the good things in her life, and advised him to do the same. Matt went back to GH to apologize to Robin and Patrick for dumping on them, and resolved to find out what really happened to Brianna. Later, Andrea overheard Patrick and Robin discussing how Alexis killed Luis Alcazar to defend Kristina.

At the lake house, Alexis was thanking Kristina and Molly for dealing with the scandal when Diane burst in to say, "My friend, you have a very real disaster on your hands!" Alexis sent the girls upstairs, and Diane showed Alexis the e-mails sent from her computer. The letters are circulating online (courtesy of a "leak" at the mayor's office), painting her as stalking Floyd. Alexis denied everything, and Diane observed that the notes read like, "bad greeting cards sent by a lunatic." Alexis suggested, "Maybe somebody's trying to frame me for Brianna Hughes' murder." Later, Alexis reassured the girls that she didn't send the e-mails. When Mac called to tell her Jason was in custody, she headed for the station. "Mom's in bad trouble isn't she?" Molly asked Kristina. At PCPD, Diane asked Jason for a favor: "Stay in lock-up for a week," to make it look like Alexis is tough on crime. Jason blanched. Meanwhile, Mac told Alexis that the city council took a no-confidence vote on her, so if she doesn't resign, she will be fired.

Elizabeth visited Nikolas at Wyndemere. He told her that Rebecca is moving in, so he's getting rid of the creepy decor. Ethan visited Rebecca's room, where she told him she's moving in with Nik. "I don't think so," Ethan snarled. He reminded her she's supposed to scam Nik, not live a fairy tale. Rebecca said the closer she is to Nik, the closer she is to "real money." She demanded Ethan go back to phone calls and texts. He accused her of wanting to live happily ever after wit the prince — like her sister. He started kissing her, but she broke it off. When he demanded an advance on his cut, she balked. He accused her of trying to double-cross him. On Spoon Island, Liz said things are going well with Lucky, but they're taking it slow. Lulu arrived and invited them both to Jake's for karaoke. She said she also invited Ethan and Lucky. When Rebecca arrived, Nik declined the invite in order to spend time with her. After sparring over money (he wanted to give her "spending money," but she didn't want to feel "bought") Rebecca dragged him off for some fun.

Lucky strolled into Jake's, only to find Ethan already there. The two swapped threats until Lulu and Liz defused the situation. When Spinelli arrived, he was intent on confessing to Maxie. But she kissed him, causing him to drop his magic microphone into a pitcher of beer.

Friday

Olivia returned home expecting to see Johnny, but Dante was waiting instead. He went through her bag, teasing her about packing wine and chocolate strawberries. He told her his in town "for work." Liv reminded him that they stay out of each other's personal lives. She noticed he was hurt, but he put it off as a bar fight. She noted he takes too many chances. "I think on my feet," he replied. He left, going to a laundromat, where he met Ronnie, who asked about the Corinthos organization. Ronnie told Dante that Anthony is running things from prison now, so Dante needs to get close to Sonny. Dante said he'll do it his way. Later, Johnny visited Olivia — bearing roses for being late. He found a photo she was mooning over: It was her with Sonny from back in their Bensonhurst days. She reminisced about playing baseball and how mercurial Sonny was; he could be dark one moment, but then turn on a smile that lit up "the whole block." She lamented that Sonny never shows that side anymore. Johnny said he now understands why Claudia thinks Liv is "hung up" on Sonny.

Carly awoke to tell Jax that "something bad" is going to happen. He suggested it was just a vivid pregnancy dream. She wanted to have sex — and she still had that note from Kelly. Afterward, she talked about the new house. Jax wasn't sure Michael would live with them there, but Carly noted it doesn't matter where he lives, because she is his mother. Meanwhile, Diane told Sonny she wants Jason to sit in jail for a week as a gesture to Alexis — and Sonny saw wisdom in it. Alexis walked in on Sonny reciting Alexis' sordid love résumé to Diane, then he left. Jason got call from Carly, and Diane told her that Jason is staying jail to make Alexis look good. Suddenly, ADA Louise Addison burst in, declaring herself Alexis' replacement. The city council was concerned about Alexis' conflict of interest — like having a child with Sonny. Diane switched to hardball mode and easily got Jason released. Then Jason got a call from Anthony, asking him to visit him in prison. "I have something important to tell you," Anthony said when Jason got there. "It could save your life." Meanwhile, in Sonny's study, Carly blasted him for using Jason. Then Dante suddenly strolled in the back door. Carly immediately identified him as the man who grabbed Morgan in the woods. Dante pointed out he didn't hurt anyone, so Sonny owes him — and "I'm here to collect." Sonny said he wouldn't kill him if he left town immediately, but Dante asked for a job.

As Spinelli bemoaned the loss of his magic microphone, Maxie told him he doesn't need it — and that singing for her is the most romantic thing ever. As Lucky, Elizabeth, Ethan and Lulu took their seats, Coleman tried to kicked things off by introducing Patrick — but he refused. Coleman started plying him with free booze, and appealed to Robin, who insisted Patrick accompany her. He refused, calling it a matter of dignity. She called him a "wuss." Meanwhile, Liz toasted to Nikolas and Rebecca — but Lucky and Ethan called that a bad idea. Ethan said Nik dating his dead lover's twin is "creepy." Then Nik and Rebecca showed up and took seats at the table. Lulu was thrilled, but Ethan fumed. Ethan eavesdropped as Nik told Liz that he offered Rebecca money but she turned him down. After Rebecca mentioned moving in to Wyndemere, Ethan confronted her about turning down Nick's cash. She called it complicated, and he threatened to bust her. Diane and Max arrived, just before Patrick took the stage, kicking off "Time of My Life," with Robin. Together, they sang and danced throughout Jake's.
