GH Week of July 20, 2009
Monday
On the roof, Spinelli and Maxie shared a tender kiss. He then brought up the response she had to his proposal, or lack thereof. Maxie successfully avoided the subject and mentioned her promotion at work. Spinelli then cracked open a bottle champagne and proposed again, but air traffic noise prevented him from getting his message across. Then, when he pulled out the ring, he fumbled and it went over the edge of the building.
Kiefer apologized to Kristina for hitting her but made it seem like it was her fault for leading him on. He asked if they could just forget about it and swore he'd never hurt her again. "I forgive you," Kristina whispered. Kiefer kissed Kristina, but when he tried to undo her top, she pushed him away again. Kiefer accused Kristina of being a tease and stormed out. Later, as Kristina was trying to cover the mark on her face with makeup, Molly entered and asked what happened. Kristina lied and said she walked into a door while texting, and asked her little sister not to tell their mom. Kristina then said that she was going out.
Sonny made a veiled Godfather threat to the country club manager, Chip, prompting giggles from Max and Milo. Sonny said Chip hurt his feelings and he persuaded Chip to apologize for calling Michael brain damaged. Chip then made a hasty exit and Michael thanked his father. Carly was a little cautious, though, about the example they were setting for their son.
At the hospital, Kelly read the results of the paternity test and informed Claudia that the father of her baby was Sonny. "Your son is perfect," Kelly smiled. Alone, a relieved Claudia cried and called her son her hero. When Johnny entered and saw her crying, he assumed Ric was the dad and was ready to have Claudia go into hiding. Claudia shared her happy news with Johnny and stated that now it was time for her to get everything she ever wanted. Johnny said Claudia should use this pregnancy to get out of her "farce of a marriage." Claudia pointed out that she's the mother to the heir of both the Zacchara and Corinthos empires. Claudia then left to go tell Sonny the news in person.
Back at the Q mansion, Carly had a sharp twinge in her stomach but said she was okay. Then, Tracy entered and barked at Sonny for being there, but allowed him to stay. Michael was in awe at the way people cowered before his pop. Sonny smiled but Carly pointed out that they were wrong earlier. Sonny agreed that it's not right to go around intimidating people. Morgan called, upset that he lost his St. Christopher medal in the woods. Carly said she'd go look for it on her way home.
Kristina tracked down Kiefer and found her with another girl. Kiefer said that they were going to a party for seniors only. "Sorry!" taunted the girl as they walked away laughing.
Claudia called Ric to inform him of the paternity news. She gleefully shared that Sonny was her baby's father.... Michael enjoyed the summer night as he drove home, but a car was speeding up behind him. The car passed and angered, Michael took off after it.... Kristina was driving home, crying behind the wheel.... Worried about her situation with the Mayor, a troubled
Alexis also got in her car to head out.
At home, Olivia gazed at an old photo of her and Sonny and sighed. Sonny arrrived at Olivia's and told her that since he hasn't heard from Claudia, it has to be Ric's baby. Sonny then pulled her into a kiss.
As Carly searched by the side of the road, several cars came careening down the road, followed by skids and a loud crash.
Tuesday
As Kristina, Michael and Claudia converged in cars, Carly walked into the glare of the headlights, and Claudia swerved, running off the road. Michael looked back, as did Kristina, but both kept driving. Claudia was left pinned inside her overturned car. Carly called in the accident and made her way to the wreck. She recognized Claudia, who begged to be taken out of the wreck to save the baby, so Carly unlatched the seat belt and dragged Claudia out — just seconds before the car exploded. Then EMTs arrived to tend to her. Some distance away, Michael pulled his Mercedes over and placed a call, saying, "I'm in trouble." When Jason arrived, Michael said that while chasing a guy who tailgated him, he may have caused an accident. As Jason questioned him, Michael grew more agitated. Jason promised he would never give up on Michael. He took the teen back to the Quartermaine mansion, where Edward overheard Jason promise to take care of everything, then leave. "Sounds like you're gonna need my help" Edward noted.
Elsewhere, Kristina pulled her Toyota to a stop. She got a call from Alexis "touching base," saying she'll be home late. Then Kris dialed Keifer. When he got there, she told him she might have caused an accident. He asked who knew about her driving, and formulated a plan to return the car and pretend she was with him. Kris hid the car, then pretended Keifer brought her home — but Sam was immediately suspicious. Kristina said they were at the country club, and then Keifer left. Sam noted Kris is "really tense." When Alexis returned later, she told the girls that Claudia had rolled her car. A shocked Kris spilled her drink.
At Olivia's place, Sonny dismissed Liv's "damn pride" and pulled her in for a kiss. She held it, then broke away, citing his marriage. Sonny told her Ric is the father of Claudia's baby, and pulled her into another kiss. when Johnny suddenly appeared, Sonny said what was happening was none of his concern. "What about my sister?" Johnny asked. Sonny said he's filing for divorce. Johnny countered that he saw the amnio results naming Sonny the father of Claudia's baby. Sonny decided to go check for himself, and left. A chastened Olivia suggested Johnny must be disappointed in her, but he insisted he wouldn't judge her. He blamed Sonny for exploiting her old feelings. She pointed out Sonny has a million kids with different women. Meanwhile, at G.H., Dr. Lee added another to that tally when she gave Sonny the amnio results. Then Epiphany came with word of the accident. Claudia was brought in, followed by Carly, who recapped the accident. "It's bad," she said, as Patrick worked on Claudia. Epiphany then called Johnny. Claudia told Elizabeth to save the baby. Patrick summoned Carly to recap the accident for him. "Save my baby and my wife," Sonny ordered. Do whatever it takes."
On the rooftop, Maxie enjoyed cake and champagne (and non-stop gabbing) while Spinelli recited Byron's "She Walks in Beauty" and told her he now understands love. He said she helped him find his true voice, then dropped to one knee and proposed again. Maxie said she loves him, but "marriage scares me." And she's had bad role models. "I like how we are now," she said, and asked for more time to think. He promised to wait as long as it takes for her to agree to marry him, and insisted she wear the ring on her finger as a token of his love.
Jason ordered Max to scrub Michael's car, and send men to the accident scene to erase all tire tracks and footprints. Sam arrived at the penthouse and told Jason she thinks Kris caused Claudia's accident, because she checked the car, and the hood was warm. Jason wondered if Michael was responsible. At the Q manse, Edward told Michael the Quartermaines have real power and will protect him, no matter what. At the lake house, Kris called the hospital but couldn't get any information about Claudia.Kris said it was a terrible that Claudia was forced off the road. "Why would you assume that there was another car involved?" Alexis asked. Johnny arrived in the ER just as Kelly told Claudia the baby may have suffered injuries — and Patrick said Claudia may have serious head trauma. Johnny asked if both Claudia and the baby could die?
Wednesday
At the Quartermaine mansion, Michael told Edward his night's adventure was no big deal, but Tracy revealed that Michael caused a brawl at the country club, prompting Sonny to threaten the director. Tracy noted Michael is a Corinthos, not a Quartermaine. At the penthouse, Jason feared Michael could be destroyed by the realization that he caused Claudia's accident. Sam suggested it could have been Kristina, but asked what if it was Michael? "What else can I do but cover for him?" he replied. "It was an accident." Sam balked at covering up manslaughter, but agreed to keep quiet. At the lake house, Kristina told her mother she merely assumed another car was involved, Alexis noted there was no evidence of another car. Then Kris said, "I have to make a confession." She revealed that she was with Keifer. Alexis gave her credit for being honest, and didn't ground her. At the accident scene, Lucky found another set of skid marks, and Mac figured out another driver caused the accident. Mac called Alexis and told her there would be an investigation. Kris summoned Michael and told him another car was involved in Claudia's crash on Harbor View Road. He confessed he went nuts behind the wheel and almost hit a car. "It had to be Claudia," he admitted. Later, Alexis asked Sam to come to her office and told her she went to Mayor Floyd's house and got into an argument with Andrea — on security cameras. She wondered if Spinelli could erase the tapes. Sam noted that Floyd lives on Harbor View Road, and Alexis was there around 9 p.m.
At G.H., Claudia asked everyone to leave so she could deal with the "catastrophe" with her husband. Claudia bemoaned actually being happy for once, and feared she and the baby could die. Sonny promised to stay by her side, but she has to fight — and she has to win. When Johnny returned, she told her brother she would work it out with Sonny. In the lobby, Olivia told Carly she feels guilty because at the time of the accident, she had her tongue down Sonny's throat. "I really hope you know what you're doing," Carly warned. Liv admitted kissing him was hypocritical and wrong. "Nothing tastes sweeter than forbidden fruit," Carly acknowledged. "I know the Sonny drill. You fall hard." She asked what Liv would do if Sonny was free and showed up at her door? Sonny walked up and said he wants to know the answer to that one, too. Olivia deferred her answer while his wife and child were fighting for their lives, then left. Sonny recapped about the paternity question, and how part of him wanted Ric to be the daddy so he could walk away from the marriage. He returned to Claudia with Patrick and Robin, and Patrick cautioned — pending test results — that he may have to "intervene" with her head trauma, and that could harm the baby. Johnny wanted to what's best for his sister. Sonny followed Patrick and Robin to the Hub, and demanded to know his baby's chances. "The baby is at risk, no matter what," Robin said. When Jason arrived, Sonny told him Johnny told him about the amnio — right after catching him kissing Liv. Sonny vowed to step up and be the father his baby deserves. He dispatched Jason to tell Olivia how he feels. Sonny returned to Claudia. Then Patrick and Kelly revealed that Claudia's head trauma needs "intervention." Surgery is possible, but the safest option for Claudia is medication, they explained. Since the drug could cause a miscarriage, Claudia flatly refused to take it. Later, Robin collided with Patrick on the stairs, injuring one of his fingers!
Olivia returned home to find Dante waiting. She reminded him she loves him, and ordered him out of town. She noted she makes stupid personal choices, and Dante figured out she has hooked up with a married man — but he's not judging her. Then Jason knocked on the door. Meanwhile, Carly went home to tell Morgan about Claudia's accident. He called her a hero. Then Carly abruptly collapsed.
Thursday
Jax rushed to the unconscious Carly while Morgan called 911. When the EMTs arrived, Morgan watched in horror as they worked on his mother. At the lake house, Michael told Kristina he's sure he drove Claudia off the road. Kris suggested it could have been any car. Michael admitted he wasn't even sure which road he was on, but when he asked if she knew anyone else it could have been, she had no response. He fretted about telling his father he caused his stepmom's crash. Kris begged him not to call Sonny, and then Morgan called with word of their mother's collapse. "I hurt my mom and her baby too," he gasped. Later, at the hospital, Kelly suggested Carly might have suffered a stroke. Morgan begged her to wake up, then Jax gave Jason a moment to speak to her. "Now would be a good time for you to wake up," he said. Morgan stepped into the hall to encourage Michael to talk to her, but Michael insisted he couldn't because the accident was his fault. Jax told the sleeping Carly that she holds the family together. And then she woke up! Later, Kelly returned with her test results, but wanted to talk alone. When Jason took Michael into the hallway, the boy said Michael had been there, but said the accident was his fault and went to the police station to turn himself in. Kelly told Carly and Jax there were "serious complications."
As Dante hid at Olivia's place, Jason told her that Claudia and the baby may not make it. He added that Sonny wanted her to know that regardless of his feelings for her, his responsibility is to his wife and child. "Sonny owes me nothing," Olivia snapped, sending Jason away. When Dante emerged, he dialed his grandmother, saying he's going to send his mother back to Bensonhurst. He guessed that Sonny is the "married man" she's involved with, but she denied it. "You are in danger," he said, flipping out over the prospect of her dallying with the top mobster in town. "It's nothing I can't handle," she scolded. He accused her of coming to Port Charles just to get close to Sonny again. She said she's not encouraging Sonny, and she left him and the old neighborhood behind before Dante was born. Then Dante got an urgent call and left.
At G.H., Sonny wondered if his son has to die for his wife to live. Patrick said dangerous surgery is the only other option. Johnny demanded to know why Sonny would risk Claudia's life for a baby he doesn't even want. Johnny urged his sister to take the medication, but Claudia insisted on the operation. At the Hub, a suspicious Robin demanded that Patrick prove his sprained finger would not interfere with the operation — by slicing into an orange with a key. Later, Patrick called in Matt, and told him, "I want you to do the surgery." When Patrick brought Matt to see Claudia, Johnny flipped. But Claudia trusted Patrick's judgment. Left alone, Sonny apologized to Claudia for being hard on her, and promised to give the baby a great life together. "I'm gonna hold you to that," she sniffed. In the corridor, Johnny threw Patrick up against a wall and warned that if Matt botches his sister's surgery, "I will personally put a bullet in your brother's brain." Matt overheard that part.
Diane brought Alexis to the police station to deny any involvement in Carly's accident. Lucky pointed out Alexis drives a small car matching a witness' description of the one that caused the crash. Andrea arrived and loudly proclaimed that Alexis was at her house in a hysterical state around 9 p.m., and driving crazy on Harbor View Road. And she was willing to sign a statement to that effect. Alexis admitted to Andrea that she slept with her husband once and apologized, but a smug Andrea was only too happy to make Alexis look guilty. Mac asked for permission to examine Alexis' car, then let her go. Back at the lake house, a stressed Kris called Keifer, but hung up when Alexis returned. She eavesdropped as Diane asked Alexis if there was any possibility Alexis caused the crash. Meanwhile, at PCPD, Michael told Mac, "It was me." Jason burst in and ordered him to stop.
In the waiting room, Johnny accused Sonny of wanting his wife to die, then left. When the door opened again, Sonny shouted, "C'mon, bastard." It was Dominic, who replied, "I've been called worse." When Olivia arrived, she was horrified to see Dante and Sonny talking.
Friday
Morgan listened as Kelly said Carly's sky-high blood pressure could induce a fatal stroke. Kelly reminded her she shouldn't be taking risks like pulling women out of crashed cars, but blamed the driver who caused the accident. Kelly ordered her to avoid stress at all costs. Jax told her nothing (not even the baby) is worth her life. A distraught Morgan ran into Johnny, and recapped about Carly and Michael thinking he caused the crash. Johnny reassured him that Carly won't die, but cautioned him not to tell his mother about Michael. Johnny then went to Carly to thank her for saving his sister's life. After he left, Carly and Jax praised Morgan as a hero, and she vowed to follow doctor's orders
When Dante arrived at Olivia's place, she demanded to know why he was talking to Sonny. He joked about it, then said he can't tell her what he's doing in town. She threatened to ask Sonny directly, so Dante revealed, "He's my new boss." Liv flipped and insisted he stay away from Sonny. "This is what I do," he protested, and she pointed out she has always had issues with "what it is you chose to do with your life." She warned him that Sonny will kill him if he crosses the mob boss. Dante accused her of being hung up on Sonny. "He's wicked smart about people," she warned, saying Sonny will figure out "what you're doing." Dante left and met with Ronnie at the pier. Dante sympathized with Sonny, but Ronnie suggested Sonny will be so distracted by his wife and child's battle that he won't notice Dante gathering enough info to "take him down."
Jason tried to take Michael from the police station, but Mac encouraged Michael to talk. The kid recapped his road rage and swerving into the other lane. At the lake house, Kristina eavesdropped as Alexis assured Diane she didn't cause Claudia's accident. Then Jason called to summon Diane to PCPD to get Michael sprung. After she left, Sam arrived to report she hacked the mayor's security system and deleted the camera footage of Alexis' visit. Alexis told her that in light of the accusations against her now, maybe that footage might have helped. Back at PCPD, Michael apologized to Jason, who told him he has to learn patience. Diane arrived and demanded Michael be released, pointing out that Mac coerced a vague statement out of minor — and one who is mentally incapacitated, to boot! She suggested releasing him into Jason's custody, but Mac insisted on locking the kid up as a flight risk. Then he called Alexis to tell her he got a confession. Hearing Alexis' side of the conversation, Kristina jumped out of hiding to accuse her of letting Michael "take the fall" for an accident Alexis might have caused. Alexis professed her innocence, then left to "help" Michael. Jason called Jax to tell him Michael confessed. Jax promised to keep Carly in the dark and calm, but Carly insisted on calling her son.
At G.H., Patrick observed Matt performing Claudia's surgery. There were a few complications, but he successfully completed the procedure. Patrick even had to praise his little brother! Meanwhile, Elizabeth realized there was something wrong with the baby's heartbeat. Later, Johnny visited Claudia, and then Kelly arrived. She reported the surgery had no adverse effects on the baby. But Claudia's seat belt caused blunt trauma to her abdomen, and "the baby has been compromised." The fetus' heartbeat was slowing, indicating the placenta is either damaged or detached. Plus, the baby might have organ damage. The fetus is too immature to survive and emergency C-section. Johnny tried to comfort his sobbing sister, but she sent him to find Sonny.
Back at the lake house, Sam told her sister she determined that Viola's car had been driven, and asked, "Krissy, did you cause that accident with Claudia?"
