General Hospital Recaps

GH Week of January 18, 2010

Monday

Lisa questioned Patrick's assurances that he's been domesticated, but he insisted that while he loved his wild times with Lisa, "people change." He went to the hospital, where Steve asked him to team up with Lisa on a trauma case. When Lisa showed up, Steve announced the surgery will be tomorrow.

At the restaurant, a bowtie-sporting Spinelli reported to Sam that the cops found a human hair in the ruins of the cabin. The cops have Michael's DNA on record, so Jason ordered Spinelli to alter that sample, to ensure it won't match. Jason and Sam returned to the penthouse to see Maxie had redecorated it. Jason was miffed, but also admitted he was spooked by what could have happened to Sam. She didn't hold any grudge. Worried about how Franco got into his head, he recounted how Franco promised to kill one innocent person for every person Jason kills, no matter the reason. Spinelli sent Maxie to PCPD, where she distracted Sly so that Spinelli could slip into the lab and log onto the computer. Later, Spin returned to the penthouse to report that the hair found at the cabin was Sonny's!

At the morgue, Dominic eavesdropped as Sonny and Michael discussed how Franco planting the body in the warehouse is actually good, because that makes it tougher for the cops to realize she was actually killed at the cabin with an axe handle. Later, Dominic told Sonny he's been clashing with Michael lately. Sonny admitted he doesn't know how to stop Michael from trying to imitate him. Dom assured Sonny he's a good father. Sonny admitted how important kids are to him – and recounted how Michael turned him into a father. Dominic went to Ronnie's hospital room and reported that Sonny killed Claudia with an axe handle and Michael witnessed it. Ronnie said that's enough for a warrant, and Michael will crack in court. Dominic thought it was wrong for a son to put his father in jail, but Ronnie said they're saving Michael from a life of crime — and saving lives by putting Sonny behind bars. Sonny ran into Olivia outside Kelly's, and they bantered about their petty childish indiscretions. She said parents can edit their past so their kids aren't tempted to follow in their footsteps. Olivia advised him to pack up and go to South America. Now.

Lucky watched Nikolas and Elizabeth making love, but fled before they spotted him. Nik had second thoughts about proceeding, but she insisted, "It's my choice to be here." Later, Nik wished they could be together openly. She thanked him for leaving so she and Lucky can be together, and wanted him to promise to make a new start in Paris. "I'm in love with you," he protested. But he promised to try — provided she puts her guilt behind her and tries to be happy with Lucky. They kissed. Later, Spencer asked his father why they are leaving town. Nikolas said life has rules, and he broke them, so they have to find a new home. Lucky returned home, where he took out a baseball bat and started wrecking the place. He shouted that Luke was right: "Love is for the weak and the naive. It's one big lie!" he sobbed. After Lucky wrecked his home, Liz showed up, and Lucky claimed he found the place like this. He suspected maybe Luke did it, so he's not calling the police. She wanted to clean, but he wouldn't let her. Later, Lucky called his mother and noted how she must have once feared that Nikolas would grow up to be a heartless Cassadine — as he loaded his service weapon. Elizabeth went to Steve and asked for the weekend off, so she can surprise Lucky. Nikolas is moving to Paris, and she's ready to fully commit to Lucky. Meanwhile, Lucky tracked Nik to the airport tarmac — and asked his brother to stay in Port Charles.

Tuesday

Jason and Sam were shocked to hear from Spinelli that evidence pointing to Sonny had been found at the cabin. Spinelli assured them he'd find a way to impede the investigation. Elsewhere, Olivia warned Sonny that the cops wouldn't stop until they proved he killed Claudia. "Is there something you know that I don't?" he asked. Olivia covered, saying it was just concern. Sonny kept brushing it off as no big deal and Olivia found it "patronizing and dismissive." He just didn't want her to worry, since this was par for the course for him. Later, Jason told Sonny that a strand of his hair at been found at the cabin. Sonny ordered Jason to stay out of the whole mess. He loved Jason like a brother, but in the wake of the Franco debacle, he felt Jason had lost his objectivity. Jason then vented to Sam about the developments. Sam reassured him that everything he'd done was out of love for Michael and they kissed tenderly.

At the Haunted Star, Ethan ran the roulette wheel for a losing Mike. Tracy ordered Ethan to shut the game down, explaining to Ethan that Mike was an addict. Lulu ran into Johnny on the docks. Johnny revealed he knew all about Dante/Dominic. Lulu wondered if he'd tell Sonny. Johnny laughed at that idea. After all, he and Dante wanted the same thing: To see Sonny pay for Claudia's death. Johnny warned Lulu about getting hurt by how this situation would inevitably play out. On cue, Dante strolled up. Johnny reiterated his warning to both of them, citing Luke and Sonny's friendship. "This whole thing is going to cause a lot of damage," he said. Dante thanked him for the warning before ushering Lulu away. Meanwhile, Kristina met up with Kiefer at Kelly's and their Lifetime movie abusive romance continued as he gave her a necklace. He even had tickets to the Black-Eyed Peas! Ethan stopped in looking for Mike. When he spied the Ks together, he instantly checked in on them. Kiefer bristled when Krissy and Ethan bantered about her poker lessons. At his place, Dante regretted letting his work get so personal and putting Lulu in this position. Lulu took his hand and told him he doesn't get to decide what's best for her. They ended up kissing passionately, but Dante pulled back and gruffly told Lulu to go. "Just for the record, this isn't you being noble. This is you being an emotional coward," she told him. Back on the docks, Johnny told Olivia he'd run into Dante and Lulu. She wished this whole thing could just be over. Of course, Sonny spied them kissing and cuddling.

At the airfield, Lucky urged Nikolas not to leave town. Nikolas wondered why he'd want him to stay "when every time you look at me you feel betrayed." Lucky fingered his gun, talking about how he would've been just as self destructive as Nikolas if he'd lost someone like Nik lost Emily. Lucky twisted the knife about Elizabeth. "I trust you," he assured his brother. "You would never betray me." Lucky noted he didn't want to repeat Luke and Stavros' cycle of hate and asked Nik, again, to stay in town. Nikolas reluctantly agreed. Lucky hugged him (and looked a tad bit demented while doing so). Later, Lucky dropped by Elizabeth's house and told her what he'd done. Liz was alarmed, since she'd hoped to "end all of this tension." And she was confused about why Lucky wanted his brother around. Lucky cited the relationship he and his brother had built over the years. When Elizabeth told him she loves him, he stressed how much that means to him, kissed her and left. Later, Elizabeth told Nikolas that she will never be with him again: "What we did was disrespectful and unworthy of Lucky's love and commitment." She was choosing Lucky. Only Lucky. Speaking of Lucky, he went by the Haunted Star and bantered with Ethan. Then, he offered to close down the casino so Ethan could leave. Nik and Liz hoped to work out the logistics of being near each other. As for Lucky, he helped himself to the Star's liquor collection! (Thinly disguised Crown Royal, to be specific.)

Wednesday

As soon as she returned from the ski trip, Carly convened a family summit to schedule Josslyn's christening and pick godparents. She nominated Jason, end of discussion. Jax tried to talk her out of it, but ultimately left the decision to her. Jason summoned Diane to the penthouse to discuss (hypothetically) how to clear Michael's name, since Jason destroyed all the evidence — including stuff that could clear Michael. Diane noted that pinning it on Franco might work — but Franco's photos would ruin everything. Diane left when Michael arrived. "I failed you that night," Jason sighed, noting he should have called the police. Michael was sure Sonny could make it all go away — and warned Jason that Carly wants him to be Josslyn's godfather. Jason next summoned Johnny to tell him Sonny will pin Claudia's death on Franco. Jason asked for Johnny's silence, and he agreed. Later, Carly visited to ask Jason about the christening. He balked, but she insisted, and he relented. Carly prodded him to admit he loves her, and they embraced.

At Crimson, Maxie told Lulu (who was on the dock) via cell that she heard her cry herself to sleep. Then Dominic appeared to help Lulu when she dropped Kate's beverages. She denied crying over him. Spinelli dropped by Crimson to report that Jason was underwhelmed by her redecoration. Maxie admitted she did it to distract Jason from her role in Franco's rampage. And urged Spinelli to take his revenge soon. At the pier, Lulu laid out the future: When Dom eventually busts Sonny, he will try to walk away from her for her own good. Well, she said he doesn't get to make that call. So she kissed him, and then stormed off. She went to Crimson, where Maxie gave her opera tickets then left. When Carly walked in, Lulu offered the ducats, and confided her relationship with Dom is doomed. Carly asked Lulu to serve as godmother. She agreed. Dominic visited Morgan, who invited him to Josslyn's christening. Alone, Dominic told Jax he should have a warrant for Sonny any day now. He admitted he regrets betraying Morgan by locking up his father. When Maxie returned, Lulu confided that Dom is pushing her away, but, "I actually fell in love with him." Meanwhile, on the pier, Johnny informed Dom that Sonny plans to pin the murder on Franco. Johnny doesn't want Dom to end up hurting Lulu through his investigation. Then Dominic poured his heart out to Johnny, and admitted he loves Lulu.

When car-crash victims were brought in to the ER, Patrick and Lisa sprang into actio. The rollover reminded Patrick of an accident he and Lisa survived. And while the driver here was okay, his girlfriend, Chelsea, has a broken back and needs an operation. The insensitive creep told Patrick, "I never signed up for a girlfriend in a wheelchair."

At the Quartermaine mansion, Monica told Tracy that Rebecca is settled in Paris. Edward barged in with a letter from his great granddaughter Maya Ward, who is in her last year of med school and looking to do her internship. Her stepmother was killed, so she's the legal guardian of her stepsister Zoe. Edward insisted they move in. Monica figured Edward was just acting out of guilt over Justus. Kristina met with a morose Sam at Kelly's to ask about how to make a frustrated boyfriend feel better. Kristina said she makes mistakes and is not always clear with Kiefer. Sam said if Kiefer makes her feel wrong or inadequate, then it's not a good relationship: "You gotta get help." Spinelli went to Diane to discuss his quandary with Maxie. Diane noted that she herself has two free passes (Russell Crowe and Justin Timberlake) — but Max gets zero; the man never gets a free pass.

Using Jax's phone, Morgan found an e-mail from a senator asking about an investigation into Sonny. Jax lied that he is trying to help Sonny.

Thursday

Ethan arrived at The Haunted Star, surprised to find empty liquor bottles hidden on the premises. Tracy entered and erroneously thought that Luke was back. Later, Ethan called Lulu to the casino and shared his suspicions that he thinks Lucky has started drinking. Lulu noted Ethan's concern and agreed to talk to her brother.

Lucky took himself off Sonny's case, and went to Jason and gave him a heads up that Maxie was going to be called upon as a witness. Lucky noticed Jason's penthouse was redecorated, then apologized for being hard on him in the past. Jason asked if anything was wrong. When Lucky mentioned Jason's love affair with Liz, Jason stated that no matter what they had, Liz never stopped loving Lucky.

Elizabeth ran into Nikolas at G.H. Nik offered to resign from the board if his presence made Liz uncomfortable. She refused to take him up on the offer.

On the docks, Michael and Morgan fought over Dominic's presence in their lives. Carly chastised Michael for his attitude and accused Michael of being jealous of Dom. Carly and Morgan then went to the Q mansion to personally invite them to Josslyn's christening.

At Casa de Corinthos, Sonny gave Dominic his instructions on setting up Franco for Claudia's death. Sonny then thanked Dom for all his loyal service, and talked about his future. Michael burst in and when he heard Sonny's plan to possibly pass the business onto Dominic, Michael flew off the handle. Sonny said it was never his plan to have Michael follow in his footsteps.

At the hospital, Patrick and Lisa bantered as they tried to encourage their paralysis patient, Chelsea. Outside, the quibbled about how to handle the news that the girl may not walk again. Patrick pointed out that this discussion was not about them. Chelsea's boyfriend expressed his doubts about whether he'd be able to stay by her side if Chelsea never walked again. Patrick then asked Lisa is he was "one foot out the door" when they dated. They discussed their past and Lisa admitted she was surprised that
Patrick stuck around after learning that Robin had HIV. The doctors returned to their patient. When post-op Chelsea still had no feelings in her legs, she burst into tears. Lisa was impressed with how calming Patrick was.

Lucky met Lulu at The Haunted Star and she asked if he's been drinking. "Yeah," Lucky replied. Lulu got upset but Lucky pointed out that at least he's not taking pills anymore. He spoke in favor of Luke being honest about life and grabbed another bottle. Lulu gazed at Lucky and said, "You're just like dad." Lulu then went to inform Liz and Nikolas about Lucky's relapse.

Dominic met Ronnie on the docks to discuss the case. It was obvious that the guilt was eating Dom up, as he bought Morgan a baseball card but tossed it into the harbor.... Jason had Spinelli bring Maxie to the penthouse to interrogate her about what she saw the night of Claudia's death.... Luke returned to The Haunted Star to find Lucky drinking and listening to Blues. "I finally got it dad," Lucky told his father. "Now I'm just like you." ... A furious Michael met up with Dominic and vowed that he wouldn't let Dominic take down his father.

Friday

Michael demanded to know why Sonny trusts Dominic more than his own son. Sonny sent Dominic away, then assured Michael he shouldn't be jealous, because he was never a candidate to take over — and never will be. Michael reminded his father that he took a bullet meant for him and even killed to protect his family; his loyalty is unquestioned. "It's business," Sonny insisted, claiming he wants a better life for Michael, one with opportunities. Michael feared that Sonny is embarrassed by his brain-damaged kid, and that's why he gets no respect. Later, Sonny summoned Carly to update her on Michael threatening Dominic. Carly said she understands Michael's anger. When Sonny explained that he's framing Franco, Carly feared the artist would use his photos of Michael. Sonny said they can argue the pics are fake. Since it already looks like Franco tried to destroy evidence, and Ronnie is onboard, Carly thought the plan might work. But Sonny needs to understand Michael feels left out.

At the penthouse, Jason made Maxie tell him everything she saw the night Claudia was killed. She recounted how she saw Sonny driving Michael's car with Michael in the passenger seat. And Sonny's shirt had a bloody handprint on it. Jason told her she could tell the police about the bloody shirt, but asked her not to mention seeing Michael. She agreed, and left. Then Michael burst in, complaining that Sonny is giving the organization to Dominic. Jason calmed the boy down, but after he left Sam noted that Michael is way too easy to goad into talking. Jason reported to Sonny about how he dealt with Maxie. Later, Mac arrived at Maxie's, intent on questioning her about the night Claudia was murdered.

Elizabeth told Lulu she wanted to help Lucky — but she never put a drink in his hand. Lulu noted he wouldn't have started drinking if he hadn't known that Nikolas is in love with her. Liz suggested everyone tell Lucky how much they love him — but drew the line at turning her life upside down for him again. At The Haunted Star, Lucky told Luke he knows about Nikolas and Elizabeth, admitting he was in denial for so long. But no, he's going to just sit and drink. He apologized for shutting his father out. When Lucky said he trashed the house, Luke noted he trashed Lucky's room after the fire. Lucky suggested he and Liz never fully recovered from the fire; they were great as kids, but not so much as adults. Liz sees Lucky as somehow "safe." Luke said love is hard, and it does not heal all wounds. Lucky admitted he had no idea wat Liz wants — but it's not him. Luke praised his son for fearlessly putting his heart on the line. Lucky left. When Tracy arrived, Luke admitted he knew about Liz's affair. A sobbing Lulu went to the pier, where Dominic was already moping. She recapped Lucky's woes with addiction, and how Nikolas is in love with Liz. She was bitter about love, but Dom assured her that sometimes love lasts. She told him to finish his job in town and move on. At ELizabeth's place, she and Nik resolved to never be together again — just as Lucky walked in. "Isn't this perfect?" he said. Liz insisted she wanted to help. "You have helped me," he said, by making him see the truth: She's "screwing my brother behind my back."

Back at the pier, Michael eavesdropped as Dominic told Johnny that Sonny offered him the top job — and it almost made him forget that he's a cop and, "I'm sending him to jail."
