Monday
Carly handed car keys to a woozy Shawn, who collapsed before he got to the door. When he awoke, she said she's helping him because he may have info about Theo. He suggested Theo has a hidden base somewhere. Shawn bemoaned crossing a personal line by working as Theo's bag man, and if Carly had not gotten in the way, he would have regretted kidnapping Brenda. Elsewhere, Suzanne demanded that Theo tell her if it was his plan to kill Brenda all along. "I want that murderous little bitch alive!" he countered, calling Brenda the last link to their grandson. Suzanne insisted the baby died, but Theo thinks Brenda may be withholding the truth. He was furious that someone else blew up Sonny's limo. She railed about pretending to be Brenda's friend for years when she actually wanted to kill the supermodel.
As Jason bent over the unmoving Sam on the gurney, Sonny wondered where Brenda is. At the lake house, Molly told Alexis, Morgan, Kristina and Ethan that she knew Theo is the Balkan, and so felt responsible for the blast. Jax arrived and told Alexis that Sam had been in an explosion. After Alexis left, Krissy told Ethan she knows what Sam is going through, "because I went through it, too." She said she didn't have memories of the actual blast until it all came flooding back now: the noise, the sense of helplessness, feeling "broken." Luke told Edward that the limo was "bomb-proofed," so Sam wasn't even burned. Luke took Edward home, where he feared that if Sam dies, they'll lose Jason. Edward worried that he forgot to do something, but then thanked Luke, and went to bed. Tracy noted that her father seemed very old and fragile. Luke started to leave, but she asked him to hold her. At the blast scene, Dante suggested that Sam was placed in the car because she's a similar petite type, and a tiny charred corpse would not be checked for DNA. They realized that means the Balkan wants Brenda alive. Dante suggested Theo wants info from her, but Sonny called it personal: "He wants revenge."
At G.H., Jason waited helplessly as Patrick, Robin and Steven worked on Sam. Michael and Abby arrived, and then Alexis, who got the recap from Jason. He figured Theo had someone put Sam in the car. Later, Patrick indicated that Sam was not seriously injured, but had been drugged before the blast. Alexis visited her unconscious daughter. When Sonny called, Jason told him that Shawn is at Carly's -- as Suzanne eavesdropped. Jax told Suzanne that the Balkan pulled a switch, but Sam survived -- and Brenda is probably still alive. She made a cryptic call to someone, warning him to be ready to move at a moment's notice. Morgan called Michael, asking to be picked up. Michael updated everyone at the lake house before taking his brother home. Ethan agreed to stay with the girls until Alexis returns. Back at the blast scene, Dante figured Sam was already in the limo when Brenda was drugged and spirited away.
Aboard a plane, Siobhan admitted she wasn't looking forward to returning to Ireland. Lucky suggested extending her stay, asking, "Would you be interested in a green-card marriage?" Lucky noted that there are lots of practical reasons to wed other than for love. He confessed that he had a problem with pain pills, and that Aiden, Jake and Cameron are not his kids -- in fact, Jason is Jake's father. She asked if he would have stayed with Liz if the boys were biologically his. He noted he and Elizabeth were "completely dysfunctional." They will always care about each other, but should never be a couple.
Franco called Jason again and asked if he's ever posed for portraits. "I'll be home soon," Franco warned. "This time, I'm bringing a present." He hung up. Then Robin told Jason that Sam is waking up. He took Sam's hand, and then she squeezed it and woke up. As he babbled about being grateful, Sam saw his lips moving, but could not hear anything. Sonny burst into Carly's and promised Shawn that, one way or another, he will tell Sonny where Brenda is. Meanwhile, Brenda awoke to see Theo. "I'm Alexander's father," he whispered. "The grandfather of your child."
Tuesday
At PCPD, Lucky recapped to Dante about rescuing Siobhan's sister, then suggested locating the Balkan's wife. Dante wondered if the wife is a legitimate part of the Balkan's cover as Theo Hoffman. At Carly's, Sonny ordered Shawn bound for interrogation. Carly argued that Shawn knows nothing, but Sonny was enraged. Outside, Michael had Morgan with him when he spotted a strange car and went to the house to check on his mom. (He didn't know Morgan followed him.) Michael tried to stop Sonny from hurting Shawn, but Sonny ordered him to take his mother away so Sonny can "deal with this piece of garbage." A panicked Morgan called Dante. Sonny insisted he doesn't want Michael involved, but Carly insisted that if Sonny is going to torture Shawn, he must do it in front of his son. Then Dante burst in and convinced Sonny to stow the vengeful mobster act for now. "You've got a very interesting family," Shawn observed. Later, Luke gave Sonny a drink, and Sonny lamented that he can't question Shawn, thanks to Carly and Dante. Luke contended that having a cop for a kid is "always" a negative. Sonny moaned that Morgan now knows how ugly his lifestyle is. Back at the house, Shawn thanked Carly for patching him up and keeping Sonny from killing him, then Dante took him to the hospital.
Michael prepared to help his father find Brenda, but his mother barred his path. Carly sat him down and noted that while he's old enough to make his own decisions, those choices have consequences: Sonny chose to be a gangster, and has lived with guilt ever since. He and Morgan can help their father by choosing a better life.
At the lake house, Kristina couldn't sleep because she kept picturing the limo exploding. She kept focusing on the horror for Sam, but Ethan was there to comfort her. She looked sad and he offered to listen to her problems. "I need advice about you," she noted, sheepishly. Later, Ethan showed her some grifter card tricks, and she thanked him for distracting her. She said Taylor got into Brown, and long-distance relationships never last. Ethan pointed out she's too young to get into a serious relationship. "I know I'm young," she admitted. "But I'm serious about you." She praised him for forgiving her after she falsely accused him during the Kiefer madness, noting how much that gesture meant to her. "I'm a married man," he cautioned her. "I may cheat at cards, but never on women." He suggested they remain friends. "I can wait," she declared. Later, she slept on his shoulder. He covered her hand with his and promised no one would hurt her.
At G.H., Sam told Jason, "I cant' hear you." Patrick and Robin struggled to figure out what happened. In the waiting area, Suzanne and Alexis vented about not being able to protect kids, but Suzanne said she has no children. Alexis went in to see Sam, and was stunned by the news of her hearing loss. Jason told Sam, "I love you" so she could read his lips. Later, Patrick told Alexis the tests were inconclusive, so they just have to wait. Lucky stopped by and filled in Jason on the lead they have about a catering van used to spirit Brenda away. Jason lamented sending Sam into the Balkan's trap alone. Lucky told him the Balkan may have a wife -- while Suzanne eavesdropped. Later, Patrick insisted on giving Robin a ride home, but she balked. "I want to forgive you," she admitted, but she feels "stuck and disappointed." He said she doesn't have to forgive him tonight, he just wants to take her home because he's concerned. They held hands. Jason gave Alexis some mom time with Sam, and Suzanne approached him to suggest the Balkan is lying low with Brenda close by. After Alexis left, Sam noted that Jason hardly ever talks, so she's good a figuring out what he's thinking. "I love you," he said. As Suzanne eavesdropped, Shawn told Lucky he doesn't know if the Balkan is married, but Aleksander had to have a mother...
Wednesday
When Brenda awoke, Jules, a knife-wielding servant, brought her breakfast. Meanwhile, Suzanne told Theo that Shawn is singing like a bird. Theo assured her that Shawn is being handled. They sniped at each other over being too secretive. He wouldn't tell her where Brenda is, but called her the only one he trusts. At G.H., an assassin dressed as an orderly tried to smother Shawn with a pillow. As they fought, Molly entered. The orderly left, and Molly wanted to report him, but then Lucky arrived, so Molly went to visit Sam. Shawn told Lucky somebody just tried to kill him. The assassin was long gone — but Lucky reasoned that if Theo wants him dead, Shawn must know something. Shawn suggested the catering van at the airport was a diversion; Brenda is probably being held in Port Charles. As Lucky walked past the Hub, Elizabeth flagged him down, and they caught up. She showed him pictures of the boys. She asked if he thinks Aiden looks like him, and Lucky saw some resemblance. Elsewhere, Brenda offered to do anything to get Jules to let her leave. Jules admitted he'd always wanted to be a carnival knife-thrower. Theo summoned Brenda and told her Sonny thinks she's dead. She called him "pathetic." Theo wanted to talk to her about his grandchild.
At Wyndemere, Brook Lynn confronted Nikolas about his constant horse-riding. He admitted he's been thinking about her constantly, and wants to be closer with her. She revealed she thinks about him constantly, too, and then kissed him. But Nikolas suddenly backed off, saying he's already ruined three lives, and doesn't want to make it four. He fled, running into Lucky at the pier. He told his brother how much he cares for Brook, but cannot be with her out of guilt for ruining Liz's life. Nik wondered if he should try again with Elizabeth, but Lucky insisted that if Nikolas wants to be with Brook, he should stop whining and just be with Brook.
Sam (still deafened) awoke with Jason sleeping next to her. Alexis and Kristina interrupted their kiss. Later, Sam told Jason that Theo was hiding in the backseat of her car. Jason explained how she was swapped for Brenda. Then he kissed her — but Molly interrupted with books for Sam. Molly started teaching Sam sign language — so Sam dispatched Jason to search for Brenda. Before he left, he signed, "I love you." When Alexis arrived, Molly told her about the fight in Shawn's room. Kristina, Molly, Alexis and Sam all bonded. After Alexis and Molly left, Sam admitted to Krissy that she's happy to be alive. Patrick rejected Lisa's assistance on Sam's case. Robin arrived and thanked Patrick for saying all the right things last night — but she doesn't want to have any more conversations about their relationship. She wants to concentrate on Brenda. Lisa summoned Terrell and warned him that Robin is just about to reconcile with her husband. Terrell interrupted Patrick and Robin to talk about the AIDS wing. He took her to the pier for coffee and told her there's a $10 million grant ripe for the taking — and he has a cousin at the company that is dangling the cash. Robin committed to working with him on a proposal 24/7, and they hugged. When they returned to G.H., Patrick updated her on Sam's neurological tests. Then he asked her to dinner. She said she would accept, but she has to write that grant proposal. Terrell reported to Lisa that his strategy worked — and warned her to back off Patrick. Instead, Lisa invited Patrick to Jake's — but he just laughed. Lucky updated Jason, who remained suspicious of Shawn. Jason discovered Shawn's room abandoned, but easily traced him to the airport, where he promised Shawn that he would pay for luring Sam into a trap. Meanwhile, Sam insisted on getting out of bed — but collapsed, leaving Kristina screaming for help.
Thursday
Patrick responded to Kristina's cries for help, and tended to Sam. She woke up as Alexis arrived. Patrick wasn't sure why she fainted, and took her for tests. Krissy pointed out that her friend Ally died unexpectedly the same way. Alexis reassured her, and went to check on Sam. Jason found Kristina alone, distraught that Sam could be hurt worse than anyone suspects, and will die at any moment. Jason asked Krissy to be strong and not let Sam see her frightened. He pointed out that Sam has already beaten the odds, and can do it again. Then Alexis returned with Sam, who gave a thumbs-up. Patrick said the tests indicated she simply fainted. Before leaving, Kristina apologized for freaking out, and thanked Jason for supporting her. Jason turned to Sam and said he wished she could hear him say he loves her. "I just did!" Sam exclaimed.
At the airport, Shawn told Jason he's not running, he's trying to help find Theo. In New York, he has records of every job he did for the Balkan. Shawn offered to let Jason come along if he's suspicious, but only Shawn can open the fingerprint-secured safe. Jason told him to go -- and asked him to look for a connection between Theo and Franco. Brenda was defiant to Theo, who suspected that she had put her baby up for adoption so that she could get on with her life. Brenda called Aleksander a "sick and twisted criminal" who had stalked her. She admitted that she had intended to raise the baby in Rome, but she fell sick on a visit to Africa and passed out. When she woke up, she discovered she had miscarried. Theo asked if there were any witnesses, and Brenda revealed that Suzanne was there. This intrigued Theo. Later, Jules brought Brenda her lunch, and she asked him to help her again as she cozied up to him.
Lulu found Johnny sipping tomato juice at the Metro Court bar, and filled him in about Brenda. Johnny moaned that Sonny always remains unscathed. He admitted he feels bad about the way he ended their relationship, but she claimed to be happy with the way things ultimately worked out.At Kelly's, Abby told Michael she was on her way to a job interview (receptionist), and he updated her about Sam. He explained how he saved Shawn from Sonny, but worried that Shawn might really know something after all. Abby said it's a good thing to have a conscience and empathy. Michael resolved to help find Brenda. She left for her interview, and Molly arrived. She told Michael she recognized a man who just left as the assassin who tried to kill Shawn. Michael decided to follow him. Dante walked in on a furious Sonny as he was issuing orders to Bernie. Sonny was willing to turn the town into a war zone to find Brenda, and Dante tried to calm him down. Sonny accused his son of only wanting to go by the book when somebody innocent, like Michael or Brenda, will suffer for it. Sonny asked Dante to talk to Michael and Morgan, but he balked at being his father's apologist. Sonny asked him to take a leave of absence and go on vacation with Lulu -- so that Sonny can kill the people he needs to kill. When Lulu answered Sonny's summons, he told her about the vacation idea and stepped out. Dante moaned that just when he feels sympathy for Sonny, he does something that makes Dante want to lock him up. Then Molly called to tell Dante that Michael went after the thug. Sonny went to Metro Court to acknowledge that Carly kept him from doing the wrong thing. Suzanne interrupted to ask for an update on Brenda. Then she got a summons from Theo. When she arrived, Theo wondered if she was tipping off Sonny. At MC, Sonny asked Carly to compile all hotel records about Theo. Then Jules approached and asked to talk to Sonny. Elsewhere, the thug realized he was being tailed and got the drop on Michael, holding him at gunpoint. Michael talked tough, promising to put in a good word with Sonny if he reveals all he knows about Theo. Dante arrived and identified himself, but the defiant henchman threatened to shoot Michael.
Friday
Sam and Jason were delighted that she can hear again. Patrick urged her to take things slow. Sam admitted she had been scared, and now wants to celebrate. But first, she insisted that Jason go help Sonny. He told her to think of something she wants — anything — and he'll make sure she gets it. Elizabeth came in, and Sam asked how she balances her work and family. Liz said Jake acts exactly like Jason, and they acknowledged he looks just like his dad, too. Later, Liz brought Sam a photo of Jake, and Sam mooned over it. But she reiterated she doesn't want a baby. Liz left and made a call. Later, Suzanne stopped in to visit Sam and ask if Jason knows where to find Theo. Sam said no. Liz showed Patrick a photo of Aiden, and asked if he looks like Lucky or Nikolas. She suggested that Helena may have switched the DNA test results, and Aiden may be Lucky's son.
At Metro Court, Jules started to talk to Sonny, but noticed a man watching them and pretended he just wanted to express his sympathy. Carly calmed Sonny down, but then Jax announced that he quashed Sonny's request for hotel records because the search for Brenda should be left to the police and Interpol. Sonny left, and Carly admitted she sees Jax's point. She recapped the entire Shawn affair, and Jax was upset that Morgan was exposed to Sonny's violence. Carly reiterated that she wants her kids to grow up to be like Jax. Jax said they can't save Sonny and Brenda; they can only try to save themselves.
An imprisoned Brenda desperately tried to pick the lock of her room, and flashed back to her vows with Sonny. Meanwhile, Theo confronted Suzanne with her lie that Brenda lost the baby before she got there. Suzanne admitted she was there, but she was merely trying to save Theo any more grief. "Our grandson is alive, and you've known it all along," Theo railed. She countered, "We have no grandchild." He accused her of turning Aleksander against him, and now hiding his grandson. She insisted the child "doesn't exist." Later, Jules returned to Brenda to report that he chickened out on talking to Sonny. Theo came in and reminded Brenda there will be consequences if she tries to escape. She admitted she asked Jules to help, but he refused. As Jules left, he hid a key for Brenda. Theo insisted that she will eventually tell him where his grandson is. After he left, she retrieved the key.
Dante drew his weapon on the guy holding Michael at gunpoint. When the goon took his eyes off Michael, the youth grabbed the gun. There was a struggle and a shot, but Michael managed to wrestle the gun away. Dante arrested the guy. At PCPD, Dante scolded Michael for almost getting himself killed — or sent back to Pentonville. Dante reminded Michael that while he's on parole, Michael is Dante's responsibility. Jason went to Sonny's office and told him about letting Shawn go to Manhattan. Sonny was skeptical, and wondered how things could have gone so wrong so quickly. He lamented Michael and Morgan seeing his dark side. Michael arrived and told Sonny about the thug in custody. Sonny took off, but Jason made Michael recap events. Jason told Michael he taught him to fight only in self-defense. Michael wanted to take care of the guy to prove to himself that he could do it. "I'm not gonna be anybody's victim," he declared. Jason said if you get emotional, you make mistakes. He wants Michael to say away from the business, but Michael insisted his father needs help, and he can do it. At PCPD, Sonny suggested Dante let the goon go. Dante balked at giving Sonny a clear shot at the guy, but decided to use Sonny. Dante to the thug that Sonny paid his bail — which terrified the henchman. Then Sonny entered the interrogation room, and Dante left them alone to... "talk."
Alone at home, Carly heard someone breaking in. It was Shawn, who said to call Jason, because he has a lead on Theo. Meanwhile, Theo went to Brenda's room and found her gone. She was outside, alone in the cold and dark. And she heard a dog barking...
