General Hospital Recaps
GH Week of February 23, 2009
Monday
Robin showed Patrick the article about his heroic actions during the hospital crisis. She booked him a table at his favorite restaurant to celebrate but he just wanted to stay home. Robin was miffed that Patrick didn't want to go out. Emma started to cry and Robin told Patrick that now was his chance to play dad. Robin brought up the subject of a nanny and expressed her desire to return to work. Patrick was surprised by his wife's sudden change of heart. Robin snapped that she wasn't postpartum and Patrick refused to engage her in an argument. Robin took a deep breath and said she didn't want to fight, either. Patrick apologized for not taking Robin's
ambitions to heart. Robin apologized, as well. He consented to
getting a nanny.
Nikolas managed to convince Rebecca to visit Wyndemere. She was not impressed. Alfred wheeled in some tea and was stunned by Rebecca's likeness to Emily. Rebecca stated that she thought butlers only existed in black and white movies. Nik sat down with Rebecca and told her about his history with Em. Rebecca acknowledged that Nik and Emily had a very powerful connection.
Nikolas then relayed the story of Emily's death and showed Rebecca her picture. Rebecca was obviously uncomfortable and made a hasty exit.
At Sonny's house, Kate informed Claudia that she's the one in charge now. Claudia dared her to tell Sonny the truth. Kate was confident that Sonny would take her word over Claudia's. As they bickered, Claudia threatenedKate's life but Kate didn't balk. Ric entered and caught the tail end of their exchange. He realized that Kate was holding something over Claudia's head.
Jason confided in Sonny about his dilemma with Rayner about turning in Spinelli. Sonny mentioned to Jason that he couldn't run the organization if he were to turn Anthony in. As the men rehashed their estrangement, Jason asked Sonny if he wanted the business back. Sonny said yes but he wasn't going to fight Jason for it. Jason said he never wanted the business in the first place and asked for his old job back. Just then, Sonny got a call that Anthony had been located. "Pack your bags," Sonny told Jason. After, Jason
went to enlist Sam's aid on his mission.
Spinelli and Lulu commiserated on the phone while Maxie and Johnny attended the Campbell's Go Red Gala. They both lamented not taking a stand earlier to prevent the newfound friends from attending together. The duo then checked out pictures of Johnny and Maxie on the web and could barely contain their jealousy. Just then, Maxie and Johnny joined Lulu in the limo. Lulu remained silent while the pair basked in their success.
Sonny returned home and caught Ric squabbling with Claudia. Sonny ordered his brother to show his wife some respect. Ric offered his assistance to Sonny in running the organization. Ric asked to be Sonny's partner. Sonny broke the news that he and Jason were partners again. Ric advised his brother to trust no one.
At Metro Court, Lulu sniped at Maxie, who left to go see Spinelli. Johnny pointed out that Lulu's anger was being directed at the wrong person. She apologized and said she doesn't deserve Johnny. In turn, Johnny said that while he liked Maxie, there's only one woman that he loved. Lulu and Johnny embraced. Meanwhile, Maxie went to the penthouse where she woke a sleeping Spinelli. He thought he was dreaming but Maxie assured him that there was nowhere else she'd rather be. Maxie wondered aloud what would have happened had B.J. lived and she died. Spinelli told Maxie he loved her, but Maxie had drifted off to sleep. As Spinelli covered her, Maxie dreamt that she was
standing at her own grave.
Anthony sipped a drink on a lounge chair and planned to head off to Brazil. Meanwhile, Jason and Sam showed up at the same resort, masquerading as honeymooners.
Tuesday
Chatting aloud with Spinelli after attending the Campbell's Go Red Ball, Maxie wondered what life would have been like had she died and her cousin B.J., who gave her the heart transplant, had lived. Spinelli told Maxie that he loved her but she had already drifted off to sleep.
Maxie found herself standing at her own grave and watched as life with B.J. played out. B.J. was happily engaged to Matt, while Lulu slaved away at Kelly's and expressed her cynicism about love. Lulu's attitude surprised Maxie, who was commenting off in the distance.
At Jake's, Carly was drinking and flirting with strangers. Patrick entered and chewed her out for acting like a tramp. "Why the hell did I ever marry you?" Patrick huffed to Carly. "Carly is your wife?" Maxie exclaimed. "What happened to Robin?" The action then jumped to the cemetery, where a solemn Robin placed flowers on Stone's grave. She was still grieving for her lost love all these years later.
B.J. met with Mac, now a uniformed beat cop, who had just gotten off the night shift. They talked about Maxie. B.J. told him about her engagement and relayed that med school was going well. She noted that she planned to become a cardiologist. Mac gave her a poignant hug as Maxie watched.
Back at Kelly's, Spinelli, Matt and Mike all called Lulu out on her
bitterness toward B.J. Just then, Johnny entered and ordered some coffee. He told grouchy Lulu that if she was unhappy with her job, she could always work at one of his clubs as a stripper. Lulu threw Johnny's card back in his face.
At Jake's, Patrick stated he was glad that he and Carly never had children. It also came out that Carly married Tony and she started fooling around with Patrick during the union. After Patrick stormed out, Mac came in and demanded a drink. Coleman pointed out he'd be falling off the wagon but Mac didn't care.
At G.H., Bobbie caught Monica snooping through Patrick's office. The women couldn't believe how unfriendly Drake Junior was compared to his father. Monica told Bobbie that she heard Patrick was going to start firing people and she wanted to know who. Robin entered and they enlisted her aid to help dig up info. Bobbie said that Carly's the reason behind Patrick's unhappiness and she'd try to talk to her wayward daughter.
On the docks, B.J. volunteered to work at G.H. after her class got
canceled. While talking on the phone, B.J. bumped into Spinelli, who snapped at her. B.J. managed to charm the surly Jackal. She offered to bake him a cake. She opened up that it was the anniversary of her cousin's death and she'd baked Maxie a cake and brought it to the hospital shortly before she died. Johnny showed up and hit on B.J. She stood up for Spinelli, told Johnny he should be ashamed of his profession and left.
At G.H., Patrick returned to his office and bit Robin's head off. Maxie begged her cousin to fight back, to no avail. Robin asked about the staff cuts. Patrick told Robin that she keeps her nose clean and her job was safe. Robin then asked about her co-workers; Patrick chided her and asked her to leave. Just then, Monica entered and told Robin that Coleman called about Mac.
B.J. met with Bobbie at Kelly's and suggested they incorporate a heart healthy menu. Bobbie liked the idea. B.J. went to Jake's to console Mac, then talked to Carly about how she was living her life. Carly brought up the fact that by going after Tony back in the day, she wrecked B.J.'s happy home. "I'm not mad at you Carly," B.J. told her sis. "I feel sorry for you." Johnny entered and Carly made a move on him. They flirted and played pool. Robin came to pick up Mac, who apologized for ruining her day.
Spinelli went to Kelly's to buy a chocolate cupcake. Lulu couldn't get over that Spinelli would fall for such sentimentality after he relayed B.J.'s earlier tale. Spinelli said it wasn't for B.J. It was to put on Maxie's grave. He asked Lulu if she wanted to accompany him. Meanwhile, B.J. went to the grave to tell her cousin that what happened was so unfair. As Maxie watched, she agreed, stating, "I know how you feel. We both deserved to have a life." Spinelli showed up with the cupcake. B.J. was touched.
In a musical montage, Patrick fired Bobbie.... Carly almost kissed Johnny but stopped short.... Lulu found the phone number Johnny left behind.... Robin took home a passed out Mac.... Maxie woke up and told Spinelli, "Some days, you wake up and realize how lucky you are to be alive." Maxie then went to B.J.'s grave, reflected on what she had seen and said that while she couldn't live her life for her cousin, she'd honor the life B.J. gave her.
Wednesday
At Kelly's, Mike was stunned to meet Rebecca, who began growing tired of everyone calling her Emily. When Nikolas entered, Rebecca told him off for following her, but Mike pointed out that Nik comes into Kelly's every morning for his coffee — "dark, no sugar."
At Sonny's, Spinelli showed up. Claudia called him a hero for his actions during the biotoxin crisis. Sonny ordered Spinelli not to call Claudia "Vixenella" anymore. With Claudia providing the information, Sonny asked Spinelli to freeze all of Anthony's bank accounts. Spinelli was reluctant to do anything without Jason's approval. However, Sonny and Claudia pointed out that if Anthony isn't found, Spinelli will be the one going to jail. The Jackal reluctantly agreed.
At Crimson, Kate demanded answers about what happened with their signature dress and how Maxie ended up wearing it to the Go Red Gala. The girls explained the snafu and Kate acknowledged that they did a good job in covering. Kate also acknowledged that Maxie and Johnny made a sharp-looking couple. Kate then planned to dispatch Maxie and Johnny to an exclusive club opening to generate buzz for Crimson, much to Lulu's chagrin. Lulu summoned Johnny, who showed up at the office. He balked at Kate's request — until she offered to pay him $1,000. After the duo dressed, Lulu had to admit they wore the clothes well and looked good together. Spinelli arrived and was upset to hear that his Maximista was once again parading around in public with the Mob Prince.
Jason and Sam showed up at the tropical resort in search of Anthony. Sam was ready to don her bikini to go find him and Jason wasn't happy about it. Sam made up a story to tell a hotel maid to see if she had seen Anthony. With a little cash, the maid gave up Anthony's poolside cabana number. Next up, Sam "borrowed" a maid's uniform and she and Jason headed out to find Anthony.
Jax and Carly had a problem keeping their hands off of each other. Carly wanted to know if Jax was coming home but he suggested they build a new home that they can both call their own. Carly was honest with Jax in that she hated him working with Kate but stated she'd learn how to deal with it. Jax told Carly he'd never get tired of reassuring her that she is the only woman for him.
At the resort, Anthony was furious to learn he couldn't access his bank accounts and wondered how that could happen since no one knew about them — no one except Claudia, that is. He threw a glass against the wall; it shattered into pieces.
At Metro Court, Nik met up with Lucky, who informed his big brother about his breakup with Sam. Lucky spoke to Nikolas on Rebecca's behalf and advised Nik to back off.
As she was preparing to leave Kelly's, Rebecca bumped into Sonny, who was bowled over by her resemblance to Em. They pair chit chatted and Rebecca offered to buy Sonny a cup of coffee. Sonny opened up to the stranger about his relationship with Emily. After their talk, Sonny left and Lucky arrived. He advised Rebecca to steer clear of Sonny, as he's nothing but trouble. Lucky sat down with Rebecca and the two shared a light camaraderie.
Bernie warned Sonny that not all of Jason's men were happy to hear that Sonny would be reclaiming the business.... Jason and Sam arrived at the cabana and found the broken glass. Jason realized someone had tipped Anthony off.... At Sonny's, Claudia returned home. Anthony emerged from the shadows, grabbed her, put a gun to her head and asked why he shouldn't blow her head
off.
Thursday
At Kelly's, Lucky and Rebecca had a few laughs, until Nikolas joined them. Rebecca relayed that she'd been hired at G.H. as an X-ray tech, but since the hospital burned down, she's jobless. Nik offered to help Rebecca with her employment opportunities.
Anthony showed up in Port Charles and held Claudia hostage. They exchanged barbs, and Anthony reminded Claudia how worthless she was. Anthony demanded that Claudia get him out of the situation she got him into.
Still in jail, Luke sang and verbally sparred with Ethan. Tracy showed up and complained about paying the bill. Ethan turned on the charm with Tracy. Later, Tracy freaked out on Luke for being AWOL during the biotoxin crisis and when the "bill" came, Tracy was all for bailing out Ethan, but not Luke. After, Tracy returned and bailed out “the young one,” but not Luke.
At Metro Court, Carly got news about Morgan. There wasn't a problem, but it interfered with her reconciliation with Jax. Carly reminded Jax that, as the father of her kids, Sonny will always be a part of her life. Jax acknowledged that fact and pledged his love to Carly.
At the tropical resort, Sam showed up in yet another outfit looking for Anthony and tried to get info from a maid. She spilled that Anthony was headed to Port Charles.
Jason called Sonny to inform him that Anthony had flown the coop. Claudia then called Sonny, stating she was being held hostage, and relayed Anthony's demands.
Nikolas visited a recovering Elizabeth and unloaded about his sit-down with Lucky and Rebecca. They discussed Rebecca and the implications she has had.
Back at Kelly's, Mike offered Rebecca a job waiting tables and a room upstairs. Just then, Edward showed up and invited her to move into the mansion. After some chatter, Rebecca took a waitressing job at Kelly's and accepted Edward's offer.
Jason returned and met with Sonny. He informed Bernie that Sonny was the boss now. Sonny said he'd take Claudia's word over Anthony's.
Edward met with Nikolas and chastised him for scaring off Rebecca. He offered no excuses for offering Rebecca a place to live.
Sam showed up at Kelly's and, after a brief exchange with Lucky, Rebecca asked Sam if she and Lucky were still involved. Sam said no, prompting Rebecca to smile.
Friday
At the jail, Luke implored Tracy to bail him out. She refused again and
continued to be charmed by Ethan even after he swiped her wallet and
admitted that he's struggled with kleptomania since childhood. Luke scoffed
at Ethan's story and told Tracy she'd been played. Tracy noted that Ethan is
like a young Luke, "but decades younger and with better hair." When Ethan
refused to return the money he stole from Luke earlier (which he'd hoped to
use to bail himself out), Tracy absolved Ethan of his petty crime and
finally bailed Luke out. Luke warned Ethan, "Find your own gravy train." On
the way home, Tracy offered Ethan a job at The Haunted Star, much to Luke's
chagrin.
Carly had a heart-to-heart with Jax, saying she feels hypocritical for
taking Sonny's kids away from him. Jax claimed that Carly just adjusted to
Sonny's dangerous lifestyle and wishes that he'd voluntarily remove himself
from Michael, Morgan and Kristina's lives. Carly was at a loss about what to
do; Jax apologized for bullying her but she acknowledged that he's right
about everything. After, Olivia gave Jax an update on business matters. He asked her to open up the pool for Morgan, who's
staying Metro Court because Sonny's having another mob crisis. "And you're
so angry you can't see straight?" she guessed. Olivia tried to convince Jax
that Sonny loves and adores his children and he'll never leave them.
Anthony held Claudia hostage in a warehouse. She told her pop that the last
thing she expects is for Sonny to come rescue her. "Oh, then that will make
it sweeter when he realizes that he got you killed," Anthony replied and
told her that her marriage to Sonny is a sad sham, adding that Sonny has
already offered up a ransom of $20 million and the only way he wouldn't come
save Claud is if he found out that she had a part in Michael's shooting.
Meanwhile, Jason and Sonny discussed the ransom. Jason said he'd do whatever
it takes to keep Anthony alive and was surprised to see Sonny actually cared
about Claudia. Later, Anthony forced Claud to call Sonny and arrange a drop
off. "I understand if you don't want to," Claudia told Sonny. After, Sonny
implored Jason to do whatever he must, but keep Claudia safe (adding that
she's useful to him). He assured Jason he won't get emotional. "It's one
thing to save her, but another to die for her."
At Crimson, Lulu tried to calm Spinelli down when he tried to tell her that
he thinks something's going on between Maxie and Johnny. When Kate entered
and inquired about Maxie, Spin lost his cool and threatened to mess with
Crimson's computers. Lulu was horrified. "Are you part of the problem or
the solution here, Lulu?" Kate asked. When Maxie and Johnny happily returned
and Kate offered them another publicity deal, Spin was outraged and then
depressed. Johnny refused to do it unless Kate paid him for his time, so she
offered him a big chunk of dough. Lulu finally agreed with Spin, however,
that Maxie and Johnny parading about together for Crimson was nothing but
trouble. Maxie railed at Spinelli for trying to sabotage her career and told
Lulu she's overreacting. Johnny also tried to reassure Lulu that he's only
doing it for the cash to start his own business. Spinelli called Jason to
get a loan for Johnny.
Back at the warehouse, Claudia got emotional and asked her father what she
did to make him hate her, humiliate her and want to kill her. "You've been a
misery to me your whole life, starting with the fact that you were born
female," he spat. They continued to fight and Claudia told him that she
hates him and he doesn't deserve to get away with his plan. She also pointed
out that Sonny is a better man than he because he actually cares about his
children.
As they approached the warehouse, Sonny refused to let Jason enter and said
they need to play by Anthony's rules, telling him that he's willing to kill
Anthony if it means Claudia will live. Sonny confronted Anthony and demanded
Claudia's release. She, however, was bound and gagged on the roof — and
attached to a ticking bomb.
