General Hospital Recaps

GH Week of December 21, 2009

Monday

Rebecca insisted to Lucky, Elizabeth and Nikolas that she's overstayed her welcome, and must leave town. Nikolas apologized for projecting Emily onto her, but she replied that learning Emily's history from her friends has helped her see her sister more clearly. "I need to build my own life," she said, and left. Liz reminded Lucky they have to get a Christmas tree. Lucky and Liz ran into Luke at the tree lot. He was decorating The Haunted Star, but not sure if he's sticking around for Christmas. When Lucky asked if he called Mom, Luke said Laura can get through her birthday without hearing from him.

Sonny asked Jax to pull strings to get the case against Michael dismissed, but Jax insisted it was too late. Sonny realized Jax wants the cops to focus on him. Jax smirked and left. At Franco's studio, Jason ordered Dominic to kill Franco on sight. But Franco was at the Christmas tree lot. And he wanted to buy the same tree as Carly. He stared at Josslyn strangely, then advised Carly not to take her daughter for granted. He hinted about a tragedy involving "Lauren," his own daughter. Then he warned Carly to "always treat people with respect," when they invite you into their homes. (Clearly he's still upset that Jason spurned his chips and dip.) "Say hi to your friend," he told Carly, leaving her confused. Later, Sonny met Carly at her place to discuss custody of the kids for the holiday (He gets Christmas Eve, she gets Xmas day.) She was distressed because she couldn't find Josslyn's hat. She invited Sonny for Christmas dinner, but he begged off. They recalled Christmases past with the boys. Carly brought out Josslyn for Sonny to hold, and noted their children are all happy (except Michael?), healthy and safe.

At GH, Robin got cut dealing with an unruly patient, but Steve stepped in. Robin told him and Lisa about her HIV status. Steve promised to be her advocate. Patrick arrived and tended to her, while Lisa looked on suspiciously. Later, Lisa asked Patrick why he didn't tell her about Robin's HIV. He noted his sex life is none of her business, and the precautions he takes are worth it. Lisa then approached Robin — who apologized for not telling her first. Later, Lisa found Patrick at the Xmas tree lot. Lisa recalled how he used to love to leave town for Christmas. Robin arrived and selected a tiny tree, while Patrick wanted an "elegant" huge tree. Lisa fled as the couple bickered, then agreed to look for a compromise tree.

At the Quartermaine mansion, Tracy and Monica's argument about trimming the tree was interrupted by Rebecca announcing she's going to live in Paris, as Monica had suggested. She admitted she's grown to love everyone — including Tracy — but she needs to find her own way. Then she set off for the hospital, where she ran into Liz, called her a "hypocritical two-timing snake," and expressed regret at not seeing her get her comeuppance.

Back at G.H., Franco told Ronnie he's going to make Jason "choose." Suddenly, Ronnie went into distress. Lurking in the hall, Lulu alerted the staff, and Ronnie was stabilized. Then she noticed the spray-painted tag, "CO77X." Jason returned to the penthouse and told Sam about Claudia's bracelet. Spinelli said he uncovered evidence that Franco may be a serial killer: His artwork preceded three murders in Paris. Sam suggested Franco may have tired of the Paris police, and selected Jason as a bigger challenge. As soon as Dom arrived at the penthouse Lulu called with news of Ronnie's hit-and-run. At the hospital, Lulu gave Ronnie paper, and he scribbled a note for Jason — "You choose" — then passed out. Choose what? Jason wondered. Franco went to the restaurant, where he resolved to wait in order to give Jason a package.

Tuesday

Lucky broke up the snarkfest between Rebecca and Elizabeth, noting he and Liz don't keep secrets from each other. Rebecca simply wished him well. Then, with a hug, she left. Lucky asked Liz why they hate each other. Liz said Rebecca lied about everything and didn't have Nikolas' best interests at heart. Lucky noted he liked seeing Liz all fired up. Later, Liz brought Cameron and Jake to gather Lucky and go Christmas tree shopping. At the lot, Lucky wanted to buy one with a split in it — for good luck, telling Cam Santa will hide an extra present in it. Then it started snowing. "You're the perfect man for me, and I love you," Liz declared. Nikolas went to Emily's tomb to tell her Rebecca is leaving because of "all the lousy choices I have made," since Emily died. Rebecca eavesdropped as he regretted making life chaotic for Liz's family. He vowed to turn his life around as his Xmas gift to Emily. Later, aboard a flight to Paris, Rebecca dropped her boarding pass. It was retrieved by a character played by Chad Brannon. "I'm Aaron," he smiled, noting he was being transferred to Paris.

Sonny summoned Michael, Morgan and Kristina to a surprise Christmas Eve dinner — but it was such a surprise that the kids already had plans and begged off. Michael suggested gathering on the day after Christmas. After the kids left, Olivia arrived to collect on Sonny's overdue bill for Claudia's party. He mentioned he's still wearing his wedding ring at Diane's behest. Liv made him remove it, and then she threw it out the door. "Merry Christmas," she said. After Sonny paid his bill, he explained how his kids blew him off and invited her to stay. Just then, Dominic arrived and Sonny asked him to join him and Liv for dinner. With the table set, Olivia ribbed Sonny about stealing recipes from her mother and Mrs. Cerullo. Sonny noted that Olivia's family hated him. Sonny toasted to "old friends and new friends." Small talk involved Morgan's admiration for Dominic and the Yankees. Sonny recalled seeing Dave Righetti pitch; Liv caught a foul ball, and Sonny got in a fight. (She still has that ball.) When things started getting really chummy, Olivia got nervous and broke it up.

When Jax returned home, Carly was sure her Christmas present was in the bag he was holding. She offered him "sexual favors" in return for what's in the bag. He showed her a card with instructions for claiming her present — tomorrow. (So she balked at the sex.) Later, Carly mused about how she now has everything she ever wanted, and wondered what next year will look like. Jax assured her the future will look like them. Later, Jax gave her one of her presents: a lacy negligee.

At the hospital, Dominic and Jason tried to figure out what the cryptic "You Choose" note means, but Ronnie passed out. Lulu questioned Dom about the connection between Franco and Ronnie. Dom brushed her off, and said he can't see her for a while. Jason went to the restaurant, where the waiter handed off Franco's package: It contained Josslyn's missing hat. Jason rushed to Carly, showed her the hat, and explained it was a message from Franco. Carly remembered the stranger at the Christmas tree lot, and recapped what he said about respect. A worried Jason left. When he returned to the penthouse, Sam had decorated a small Xmas tree (on a pool table, Sam? That's felt!) They kissed. Jason recapped about Franco, and realized he has to play Franco's game. Sam assured him that he didn't "invite" Franco into his life. Jason told her, "I love you." She looked stunned, then replied, "I love you, too." And they kissed.

Franco's Christmas tree was decorated with photos of Sam, Maxie, Sonny, Morgan, Jason, Lulu, Dominic and others.

Wednesday

Carly returned with Christmas presents for the kids, and spotted a big box — but it was for her mother, not her. Later, Carly caught Michael and Morgan searching for their presents. She asked them where Jax might have hidden her present. Then she manipulated Morgan into revealing it's in the attic. Later, as Morgan commiserated with Jax over cookies, Michael wondered where his mother was. Suddenly there arose such a clatter — and Carly tumbled off the roof! After bringing her inside, she denied trying to sneak into the attic from the roof!

Robin tried to reassure Patrick that Emma would not pull the tree down on herself. As they settled in, she noted her parents were off on assignment — but she did invite Uncle Mac to stop by. As if on cue, he showed up, with a gift for Emma, but insisted he had to leave for some mysterious plans. Robin and Patrick realized this is probably their last private Christmas and started kissing. Cue another interruption: Matt and Lisa!

Maxie went overboard decorating — going so far as to "borrow" Crimson's giant tree for the loft. Then Spinelli arrived with a runty tree. Maxie fussed over it, but it wasn't working. They each tried to enlist Lulu to communicate. When Dominic showed up, Lulu saw her opening and fled with him. Maxie could not understand why Spinelli won't take revenge by sleeping with someone else. He was aghast that she had sex with Franco just to secure a photo shoot. She said that wasn't it, she was just being her usual self-destructive self. Sobbing, she begged him to tell her how to make up for it. When Mac arrived, he misinterpreted Maxie's tears and scolded Spinelli for being insensitive about the anniversary of Georgie's death. Mac wanted to take Maxie away, but she wanted to stay and deal with her issues. Mac relented (but still threatened Spin) and left. Spinelli confessed his Christmas wish: that they forget about Franco and celebrate their love. For now.

At The Haunted Star, Ethan found Luke drinking and playing solitaire in the dark. Ethan noted that this time last year he was training Rebecca to scam the Quartermaines. He didn't want to leave his father alone, so Luke suggested they "kill the bottle, call a hooker, order a pizza." Ethan tried to talk Luke into going to Lucky's with him, and suggested they cut cards for it. Elizabeth brought Cameron and Jake to the Spencer house, where Lucky had decorated a tree. Cam wanted to spend the night, but the adults said they didn't want to confuse Santa. Then Ethan showed up (alone) with rum, fruitcake and jelly beans. Next to arrive was Tracy (who was ducking the Quartermaines). Lucky decided to go confront his father. Then Nikolas arrived with Spencer, and even Lulu and Dominic were there. Tracy and Dom traded barbs while Ethan questioned Lulu dating Dom. Lucky found Luke still alone (no sign of pizza or...um, any of Santa's little helpers). Luke asked Lucky to share coffee. Lucky revealed that Laura called and invited the kids to Paris for Christmas next year. Luke recalled the year he, Lucky and Laura were "trapped" in Paris for Christmas. "I loved my childhood, Dad," Lucky confessed. "I miss those times." But he noted that just because there could be no going back doesn't mean the good times didn't happen, and the love was never there. Lucky has been noticing "small miracles" (like Luke's sobriety), and asked Luke for one: "My dad with me on Christmas Eve."

At the lake house, Diane asked Alexis to come work for her. Max arrived (much to Diane's delight) bearing gifts for the kids. Then Mac arrived, to much fanfare, with a gift for Alexis: a snow brush and accessories for her car. Later, the girls dragged Mac and Alexis under the mistletoe, where they obligingly kissed to cheers.

Matt took photos as Emma pulled toys from her stocking with Patrick and Robin. Michael and Morgan presented Carly with her gift at last: A framed portrait of her children. Maxie and Spinelli kissed. Ethan read the Christmas story for Cam, Jake and Spencer. When Lucky returned with Luke, Lulu was ready with Laura's angel. And, as Luke kissed Tracy, Lucky placed it atop the tree.
