General Hospital Recaps

GH Week of August 18, 2008

Monday

Sonny assured Kate he is not going back to the mob. She advised against hanging with Jason, and Sonny promised Jason wouldn't be back. He recapped teaching the brain-damaged Jason to be a gangster, and lamented that Jason helped Carly take away Michael and Morgan. "Keep me sane," Sonny pleaded. "Remind me what's important." As they kissed, Sasha arrived; Max tried to put her off, but she burst in, breaking up the smooch to demand she see Sonny alone. When Sonny said he won't work with Karpov, she asked what she could do to change his mind. She poured herself a drink and threw herself at him, but he insisted he won't deal with a drug dealer. She left her card. Sonny brought Kate back in and assured her he is done doing business with Sasha's boss. Kate realized Sasha's boss is a criminal. Sonny promised he's "completely legit," but Kate feared the coffee biz won't keep him satisfied. He said Michael's shooting showed him how "dark and ugly this business is," and her love helped him walk away.

At Shadybrook, Lulu lost it as she was put in a straightjacket while Scott had his cops stomp Johnny like a cockroach. She stopped screaming only when an orderly injected her with something — directly through the canvas of her straightjacket. Later, in her room, Nikolas berated the attending, who called for Dr. Winters. Nik removed his sister's straightjacket, and she moaned about getting Johnny arrested. Meanwhile, Anthony showed up at the GH nurses' station to ogle Elizabeth and hint that he might use her to communicate with Jason. She denied having any contact with Jason, but pointed out she is close with her exes, Lucky, the cop, and Ric, Anthony's lawyer. Trevor arrived to report that Johnny had been captured. They rushed to PCPD, where Scott postured until Claudia cried police brutality and slapped Scotty. Back at Shadybrook, Lulu told Nik, "I did it," and explained killing Logan. "I'm going crazy," she cried. Lainey arrived, and Nik told her about Logan getting killed, noting how Lulu "may" have brought a gun into the police station to bust Johnny out. (He seemed to think that his telling her this was someone covered by doctor/patient confidentiality, even though he isn't her patient.) Lainey said this case is "more than post-traumatic shock," and she's not sure how to treat it.

On the waterfront, Karpov offered to take Carly for a midnight sail, since Jax seemed to have stood her up for a midnight sail of their own. Karpov called her a tease, but she insisted she was just being discreet. He told her to expect his call. Then Carly went to see Jax, pretending to be room service. She brought along wine, pâté and chocolate, and they reminisced. He admitted enjoying her pursuing him, but wondered what will happen if he gives in. They kissed, but that twisted ankle flared up again. She suggested Jax isn't ready to get back together, and left.

Elsewhere on the waterfront, Lucky shielded the wounded Sam from the DEA. Sam insisted her injury was just a flesh wound and insisted Lucky take her home instead of the hospital. He tried to patch her up with peroxide and a sterile pad (apparently the stapler was empty), then summoned Elizabeth. When she arrived she diagnosed a superficial wound — and a staged breakup. Sam admitted she was working undercover to track the counterfeit drugs.

At the coffee shop, Bernie told Jason that the DEA raided Karpov's shipment but found nothing. Bernie noted Sonny made a secret alliance with Karpov and suggested Jason make the first move, before Sonny can supply any information. Jason said if Karpov has to die, "It's on me to do it." Later, Jason spied as Karpov told Sasha about the DEA raid, and admitted he might have to "compromise" with Jason's organization. Jason drew a bead on Karpov with a sniper rifle — but didn't fire because a little girl appeared and ran into Karpov's arms.

Tuesday

In the PCPD interrogation room, Claudia warned a shackled Johnny that Scott is going for a murder conviction. She suggested he sell out Lulu as the mastermind, but Johnny wasn't buying. He vowed to take a needle for Lulu. Lulu, meanwhile, awakened at Shadybrook to see a vision of Logan and screamed. Hovering Nikolas admitted he knows what it's like to see visions of the dead. "I see Logan," she sobbed, fretting about becoming trapped in her own mind like her mother. He suggested treatment will help her. Then Monica, Edward and Big Alice visited, and Lulu thanked the Qs for putting up with her.

A weepy Jason answered the penthouse door to greet Bernie. "I almost killed a child," the hit man sobbed, then recapped about almost capping Karpov and the 10-year-old girl. (Bernie looked ill.) He said he and Karpov have agreed to live and let live, but Bernie suggested that decision may come back to haunt him. "Now is the time to make a move," he urged, before Karpov gets stronger. Jason admitted he's always been happier taking orders rather than giving them, and Bernie pointed out Jason owes it to the people who work for him to protect them.

Sam and Lucky thanked Elizabeth for caring for her gunshot wound. Lucky wanted to call off the operation, but Sam pointing out that people are dying from the counterfeit drugs. Liz suggested they respect each other's choices, because they have a chance to be happy. At GH, Leyla admitted that Matt may be a player, but she doesn't think he's part of a drug ring. Cue Matt, who hit on Leyla by actually saying, "you naturally smell like heaven," then asking her to dinner. She declined, but he wouldn't back down, so Patrick threatened to charge him with sexual harassment — a showdown Anna witnessed. Matt scoffed at Patrick's interference, and Leyla declined to press charges. Matt slinked away and Leyla told Nadine she is interested in the "dynamic" between Matt and Patrick. Anna surprised Robin with the news she is on leave until the baby is born. Then Anna told Robin she thinks Patrick might be interested in Leyla again — giving a skewed recap of the Matt/Leyla incident. When Patrick returned, Leyla warned him that Anna thinks he's pursuing Leyla. At Kelly's, Robin assured Anna that Patrick is just being overprotective of women lately. He arrived in a panic, but Robin calmed him. Then Anna realized they know the sex of the baby (a girl).

At PCPD, Anthony told Alexis, "Either my son goes free, or you lose what you love most." (Yes, he threatened the DA smack dab in the middle of the precinct house!) She confidently replied that if anything happens to her girls, Sonny and Jerry will kill Anthony and Johnny in retaliation. Anthony scoffed at her threats. "Do you really want to play chicken with a psycho bastard like me?" he asked.
Later, Claudia met Nik at Kelly's. Nik suggested what's good for Lulu is good for Johnny, so they agreed to team up to make sure he isn't convicted. Meanwhile, Lulu went to her mother's room and told Laura she has a room right across the hall. "We give new meaning the saying, 'Like mother, like daughter.'" She wondered if Laura is at peace, or screaming inside her head. Lucky came in and they embraced. He returned her to her room, and extracted a promise not to run away. He asked her to trust the people who want to help her. Back at PCPD, Alexis showed Johnny photos of Christina and Molly, and recounted how Anthony threatened them. She urged him to confess and pre-empt Anthony's threats. At Wyndemere, Nik threw his cell in frustration, just as Nadine suddenly appeared. He tried to throw her out, but she wouldn't leave, even when he belittled her "crush" on him. Then he swept her up in a passionate embrace, grabbing her butt and practically gnawing off her face. Back at Shadybrook, Scotty warned Lulu that "faking crazy to stay out of court" won’t work. He's going to subpoena her to testify — and she will put Johnny away for life.

Cody arrived at the penthouse and Jason assigned him to shadow Karpov. Then Sasha arrived to report Karpov's deal with Sonny fell apart, but he still wants peace. Bernie called to tell Jason the partners want to hear from him. When Jason turned around again, Sasha poured him a drink and stripped off her top, suggesting they could reach a mutually satisfactory arrangement.

Wednesday

Jason rebuffed the buff Sasha's sexual advance, but when Spinelli burst in, he misconstrued Stone Cold's futzing with the Slavic seductress' clothing as something sinister. Sasha played that up, so Spinelli dismissed Jason's protestations of innocence. In fact, Spinelli kept invoking Elizabeth and Jake, and steering conversations back to Sasha. Later, Spinelli summoned Maxie and asked for her expertise in the ways of utilizing one's feminine wiles. When Jason returned, Maxie asked if he's sleeping with Karpov's lawyer. She believed Jason's denials, but noted Spinelli's heart is in the right place.

Nikolas and Nadine were getting hot and heavy on Spoon Island, but he broke the clinch and warned her he's "genetically predisposed" for madness. And he cheated on Emily. And he has an evil grandmother. "I'm just a really bad bet," he summed up. She left reluctantly. Later, Lucky arrived to talk about Lulu, but Claudia suddenly appeared on the island to tell the brothers not to bad-mouth her brother. Claudia suggested they keep Lulu from testifying. At Kelly's, Anna delighted over the news she will have a granddaughter. Patrick admitted he's nervous over the prospect of raising a girl. Mike and Anna chortled over the idea of playboy Patrick having to raise a girl and revise his attitude toward women. He admitted he suddenly regrets all the lame pick-up lines he ever used. Later, back at GH, Robin overheard Nadine bubbling to Leyla about her passionate kiss with Nik. Nik went to Shadybrook to bring his catatonic momma some flowers — and rant about Lulu and about Nadine's crush on him.

At the PCPD, Alexis offered to plead Johnny out on self-defense charges if he would protect her daughters. Trevor burst in and shut him up. She told Trevor that Anthony is threatening his granddaughter, but Trevor warned her to find a way to get Johnny freed — for Molly's sake. Trevor admitted to Johnny he can't rein in Anthony. At Shadybrook, Scotty browbeat a screaming Lulu for "faking" her condition, but Sonny arrived and backed him off. Sonny threatened to alert the press to Scott's antics, so the prosecutor left. Then Sonny comforted Lulu by noting he's familiar with hallucinations. "I've been where you are," he confided, revealing he has bipolar disorder. "You can't solve this on your own."

Kate got an update on wedding preparations from Maxie, then suggested Maxie visit Lulu. So she did, and the former enemies shared truffles. "You're the only person I can trust," Lulu admitted, then revealed she's having visions of Logan, which she figures must mean she should confess or go crazy. Horrified, Maxie said Logan deserved to die. Sonny went to PCPD to tell Johnny not to let Lulu testify, because she will have a breakdown on the witness stand. Then Lucky dropped by interrogation to tell Johnny to keep Lulu off the witness stand by confessing. Claudia came in and reminded Lucky that she just told him to keep Lulu off the stand. Sonny next visited Kate at Crimson to recap about Lulu. Kate called him proof that someone can come back from mental illness to live a "full" life, and insisted she's "okay" with his condition. He admitted that sometimes he doesn't want to take his meds because he misses the intensity of his feelings. She vowed to love him in sickness and in health.

Thursday

At the nurses' station, when Epiphany advised Patrick to abandon his "plan," Robin accused him of pressuring her to take early maternity leave. Anna advised her to work if she wants to — but not just to make a point to Patrick. Then she warned Patrick not to "smother" Robin. At Wyndemere, Elizabeth urged Nikolas to be open-minded about Nadine. Back at GH, Matt screamed at Nadine about a chart, so Patrick defended her. Later, Nadine admitted she's not perfect like Emily and resolved to move on from Nik. Then he promptly called and invited her to Wyndemere. She accepted, but refused to get her hopes up. When she showed up, he had a fancy dinner prepared as an apology for being a jerk. Back at GH, Mac arrived just as Patrick began to sing Robin's praises over the PA system. She got that deer-in-the-headlights look, then he proposed. Then she got that deer-in-the-headlights-who's-just-been-proposed-to-in-front-of-the-whole-forest look.

At the penthouse, Maxie urged Jason to humor Spinelli, then confided to Stone Cold her worry that Lulu will confess and send Maxie to prison. Spinelli proposed staking out Karpov's warehouse to catch Sasha doing something unsavory, so he and Maxinista set up shop in her car. Over at Sonny's place, when Kate told him Karpov sent a copy of a Fabergé music box as a wedding gift, Sonny ordered Max to return it, telling Kate, "Karpov is a mobster." He revealed Sasha is his attorney, and claimed he thought he was making a legitimate business deal in good faith, but recognized it was a mob set-up and pulled out. Kate said she can sleep better knowing he won't go back to the mob. Later, Jerry took a meeting with a suspicious Karpov, even as Sonny prepared to return the music box personally.

Lulu called Johnny from Shadybrook using a fake name, and a cop gave him the phone in the interrogation room. He tried to reassure the sobbing Lulu, but Scott cut off the call. Johnny said, "I didn't kill your son." Alexis arrived and pointed out Scotty's conflict of interest. He countered with Alexis' connection to Trevor. At Shadybrook, Lulu told Lainey she talked to Johnny. Lainey said she can't visit Johnny unless a family member signs her out. Enter: Lucky. She begged her brother to take her to see Johnny. She admitted bringing the gun to PCPD, and insisted Johnny cares about her. When Lucky refused, she begged him to bring Johnny to Shadybrook. Lucky balked, so she revealed she's having hallucinations and is turning into their mother. But he stood firm, and left. Meanwhile, Claudia visited Johnny, who demanded Claudia do whatever it takes to allow him to see Lulu. A shocked Claudia said, "Oh, my God, you just became our father," and refused to hook him up with "that stupid girl," who is going to testify against him and put him away. He begged her to help him see Lulu. Next, Jason visited the sullen Lulu, who asked if he blames Johnny or Logan for her condition. Jason pointed out that since Johnny covered for her, he's not to blame. Then she asked him to take her to Johnny.

Friday

Patrick asked Robin to marry him, and while everyone else around the nurses' station swooned, a teary Robin told a teary Patrick, "I don't know." Then she started sobbing and fled, leaving him on the floor. He found her outside. She admitted she felt pressured by his public spectacle, and rehashed her standard argument about his "sudden" change of heart about getting married. He agreed it would be a mistake to get married just because they're having a kid — but that's not why he asked. He's committed to her. Back inside, Matt scoffed at Patrick's motives, Elizabeth championed Patrick's cause, and Kelly suggested the nurses steer Robin "in the direction of her heart." Back outside, Robin told Patrick, "I can't marry you. I'm sorry," and left.

Outside Karpov's warehouse, Maxie complained about the boring stakeout, and fretted that Lulu is losing her mind. Maxie said she wants to be as good a friend to him as he is to her. Spinelli suggested he set up the stakeout as something to take Maxie's mind off worrying about Lulu confessing. Maxie spotted someone going to the warehouse with a gun. Elsewhere, Sonny returned the wedding gift to an indignant Karpov. "I am not doing business with you now, or in the future," Sonny fumed. Karpov said he's moving forward in Port Charles without Sonny's help. Sonny advised him not to make an enemy of Jason. After he left, Jerry came out of hiding. Karpov questioned his loyalty, but Jerry said he's loyal to whomever pays him. Then Karpov took a call about the warehouse. Later, at the Crimson office, Kate was modeling her reception dress when Sonny arrived. Kate tried to hide behind Clarice and the seamstress, but let him see the dress after all. He pronounced her "gorgeous," but said she'd look better in nothing. They kissed, and then noticed a spot of blood on the dress.

At Shadybrook, a frantic Lulu begged Jason to pretend to be her brother and take her to Johnny. Jason balked, but she asked if he only had one chance to see Jake and Elizabeth and tell them he loves them, wouldn't he take it? Meanwhile, Johnny begged his sister Claudia to help him see Lulu, because he blames himself for her condition. Lucky burst in to scold Johnny for pushing Lulu over the edge. When he grabbed Johnny, Claudia called Harper to pull him off. When Jason arrived with Lulu, Harper agreed to let her see the suspect. Once inside, Lulu started crying and told him she's getting worse. He urged her to hang on, and held out the promise of a new life together. Outside, Claudia, Jason and Lucky all bumped heads about Lulu being there. Then Scott joined the "get Lulu out of there" party. In the interrogation room, Lulu saw a vision of Logan and freaked out.

Nadine and Nikolas enjoyed an intimate dinner at Wyndemere (to the tune of "Viens Malika"). He praised her enthusiasm and ability to live in the moment. She asked him to be open to new things — like dancing. So they waltzed awkwardly in the courtyard.

As Maxie tried to stop Spinelli from snooping around the warehouse, a car squealed at them and struck — someone!
