GH Week of April 13, 2009
Monday
Spinelli broke up Maxie and Johnny's dockside clinch. She looked stricken. Johnny told Spinelli he broke up with Lulu, and that he and Maxie are attracted to each other. Spinelli punched Johnny and jumped him, so Maxie broke it up. She said, "the kiss just happened," and Johnny insisted it meant nothing, then left. Maxie apologized and said she was mad at Lulu, but Spinelli freaked out. She promised it wouldn't happen again, but he didn't believe her. She admitted being attracted to the mobster, but nothing happened. Spinelli asked if he would ever inspire the same desire in her that Johnny does. She said nothing, so he stalked off, wishing her luck. Spinelli found Johnny outside Kelly's, and conceded that he doesn't light Maxie's fire. He warned Johnny to "cherish and value" Maxie, or he will "grind [Johnny] into the ground." Meanwhile, at the seedy motel, Ethan hid his snapshot of Robert and Luke, then demanded to know how Lulu tracked him down. Lulu suggested that Tracy thinks Ethan is scamming Luke. Ethan said from the moment he met Luke he felt like he'd known him all his life. When Ethan deflected suspicions back to Lulu, she flipped out and admitted she just broke up with Johnny, then stormed out. Lulu returned home, where a sobbing Maxie urged her to reconcile with Johnny. Lulu accused Maxie of ruining four people's lives out of vanity — and ordered her to move out. Tonight.
At Kelly's, Rebecca got the results of the biopsy over the phone. Nikolas comforted her as she cried. "I'm fine," she sobbed. "No cancer." Nik called for a celebration, so they shared an ice cream sundae. When she got a call, she tried to take it in private, but Nik followed her and heard her yell at the caller, "Think for yourself!" She claimed it was a friend from home. Rebecca professed to feeling more alive than ever, and thanked Nik for talking her down when she was freaking out. Nik walked her back to her room, and she gave him a peck on the cheek.
In the lobby of Mercy, Claudia spotted an eavesdropping Carly and told Kelly that she will be careful to avoid pregnancy, because Sonny doesn't want any more kids. After she left, Carly asked Kelly about the dangers of getting pregnant. Kelly "strongly" advised against getting pregnant again. Kelly wanted more tests to confirm that Carly is susceptible to a blood-clotting problem that could trigger strokes or embolisms. Carly wondered if the condition would force her to terminate a pregnancy? Later, Carly went to Michael's room to tell him she doesn't know whether to hope the dizzy spells mean she's pregnant. She has always wanted to have a baby with Jax, and feels compelled to risk a pregnancy in order to give Jax a child. She asked Michael to have good thoughts for her. After she left, Michael moved his entire hand. In Sonny's study, Jason accused Ric of lying about Claudia ordering a hit that went wrong. When Sonny demanded proof, Ric produced one of Jerry's DVDs. Claudia arrived just as Sonny popped the disc in the player. There was nothing on the DVD, so Claudia pleaded ignorance and innocence. Ric insisted she was guilty. Sonny said if either of them runs away, he will know who's guilty. Later, Claudia thanked Sonny for not automatically believing Ric. But Sonny cautioned her: If Ric was telling the truth, "There wold be no place you could hide from me." Jason brought Ric to the pier and held a gun to he head. Ric revealed he made a copy of the evidence, and the truth of Claudia's guilt will come out.
At the new nurses' hub at General Hospital, a woman walked out of the elevator and into the darkness. She typed some codes into a computer terminal, looked around and laughed. It was Helena!
Tuesday
Patrick and Monica finished their tour of the refurbished General Hospital nurses' hub in time to hear Epiphany belly-aching about getting the new facility up to speed. She lamented that the "digital conversion" is a disaster. (Hmm, an ironic comment on GH's switch to HD broadcasting?) As Elizabeth bubbled about the new daycare facilities, Robin stalked over and endured a stare from Patrick before she snidely wondered if he wanted her to stay home with Emma "like a good little mom." Later, after Robin dealt with the shortage of printers, Patrick told her he doesn't think she's ready to go back to work. Robin went to Kelly and told her she feels like Patrick only sees her as a mental case. Patrick gave Liz his Jeff Burton model car for Cam — which made Robin fume. Patrick let Matt do the first operation in the new OR, implying that he's not doing any "operating" at home with Robin, either.
At Metro Court, Carly told Bobbie she's skipping the reopening, then got woozy, but played it off as the flu. When Bobbie left Olivia scolded her for lying. Cary told her what Dr. Lee said: Her blood clots too quickly, so a pregnancy can kill her. But she's sure she's not pregnant anyway. Claudia asked Johnny to get Ric's other copy of the DVD from his lawyer's office. When Sonny arrived, he asked if Johnny has been "a part of this" all along. Johnny said his sister's marriage was a bad idea, and left. Sonny promised to apologize — if she's innocent — then left. He went to Metro Court to tell Carly about Ric and Claudia's conflicting claims and ask whom he should believe. Carly said Ric is out to destroy him, but Claudia is merely a bad person, she she'd believe Claudia. He noted she hasn't looked so pale since she was pregnant with Morgan. On the pier, a goatee-sporting Ric grabbed Claudia and vowed to use his backup to expose her. Later, Sonny returned home, to find Claudia packing to move out because she doesn't feel safe. Sonny ordered her to stay. "If you're guilty, I'll know where to find you," he winked. Ric walked in on Johnny burglarizing lawyer's safe. Or trying to: "The DVD is gone, Ric," he said. Back at Metro Court, Olivia gave Carly a veggie plate — and a home pregnancy test.
Aboard The Haunted Star, Ethan poured Luke a "Tasmanian Mud," a hangover cure. When Lucky arrived he wanted to talk about Lulu breaking up with Johnny, but a hungover Luke was not interested, so Lucky suggested he step up as a father. Ethan stepped in to say, "Some of us would be honored to have Luke as a father." Tracy visited Lulu to offer relationship advice — and suggest she find out what Ethan is really up to; why did he track down Luke? Lulu suggested it was just about money. Back on the Star, Ethan thanked Luke for taking him under his wing. Luke warned Ethan to cut Lucky some slack. Later, Ethan told Lulu he's worried about her, but she wasn't interested in him. At the Star, Edward asked Tracy about Ethan and urged her to tell Luke that Ethan is his kid. Tracy pointed out there's no proof. When Luke appeared, Edward said Tracy has something to tell him — but she distracted him with a kiss.
When Nikolas met Rebecca at the docks he tried to kiss her, but she backed him off with a gift of sunglasses. Later, Nikolas gathered everyone the Hub and made a brief speech. Then chief of staff Monica joined Nik to cut the red ribbon. The lights instantly went out and alarms sounded. Helena appeared on all the monitors. She praised Nikolas' "last act of charity," and warned him that "no good deed of yours shall go unpunished."
Wednesday
Ric found Johnny in his office and his safe opened. He accused Johnny of stealing the DVD and threatened to call the cops. Johnny said if he did, Ric would have to explain withholding evidence in the shooting of a child. Alone with Claire, Ric explained how the DVD proved Sonny's wife was responsible for his son being in a coma. Now, Ric needed it to save his life, because Sonny was convinced Ric was the real culprit. Claire wondered why Ric didn't just exonerate himself by showing Sonny the DVD before. Ric admitted he did, but it was blank. Later, Ric returned home and found Jerry, who was angry Ric was using the DVD for his own devices. He vowed to stop him.
Jason stopped by to see Claudia and discuss the DVD. Claudia was indignant. She thought Jason would be the one person who wouldn't believe Ric's lies. Claudia admitted she was naive for ever getting involved with Ric, but she thought she could work him to her advantage. Instead, he turned the tables on her. Claudia insisted there never was a DVD. Ric made it up to plant a seed a doubt in Sonny's mind. Jason said he could believe that, but if he was wrong and Claudia did get Michael shot he would make her pay. Johnny arrived and Claudia asked if he got the DVD. Johnny reported it wa s stolen from Ric's safe. Hence, Claudia didn't have to get pregnant to prevent Sonny from killing her. Claudia told her brother she wanted to get pregnant.
Olivia urged Carly to take her pregnancy test, noting that if she was with child she was at high risk and shouldn't be burying her head in the sand. Carly spoke to Jax on the phone, but didn't breathe a word about what was going on. Later, Diane stopped by to discuss some business, when Carly suddenly turned white. Diane worried Carly was ill. Carly assured she wasn't. Max arrived, and Diane told him what transpired. Max noted that happened before, when Carly was pregnant. The pair speculated about who was the baby's father. Jason arrived, noting Carly summoned him there. Later, Carly told Jason she might be pregnant and needed his support.
"Why is that homicidal maniac back here in Port Charles?" asked Edward after watching Helena on the hospital monitor. Edward and Monica realized Helena couldn't see Rebecca, considering how many times she tried to kill Emily and whisked her off. Lucky left to tell Luke that Helena was back. Later, on the docks, Alexis suggested to Nikolas that Helena and Rebecca were linked. How else could he explain a woman who looked exactly like Emily ending up in his proximity? Nikolas refused to buy it.
Patrick asked Robin if she was okay after seeing Helena on the monitor. Robin jumped down his throat, insisting he treat her like a strong capable person instead of basket case. Patrick confided in Elizabeth about how defensive Robin was about everything. Matt approached Robin to consult on a case. She jumped down his throat, too, and accused him of checking up on her. Robin caught Patrick talking to Elizabeth and flipped that he wasn't respecting her privacy. "Who else have you told about my post partum depression?" she demanded. Patrick countered that Robin had some nerve accusing him of anything, after she slept with a stranger.
Luke told Tracy that Ethan was like the son he had and somehow lost, as Ethan eavesdropped. While Luke loved Lucky, they had nothing in common. But he could see a little bit of himself in Ethan. Tracy warned Luke that Ethan could be scamming him. Ethan entered, cracking that he was "rotten to the core." Tracy questioned his connection to Holly and wondered if they'd cooked up a con together. Lucky rushed in with the news Helena was back. He explained how the Quartermaines brought Rebecca back to their house to protect her. Tracy left. Ethan asked about Helena. Luke made light of her horrific antics. "Helena kidnapped me and made everyone believe I was dead," spat Lucky. Later, Alexis stopped by and shared her suspicions that Rebecca was a plant sent by Helena.
Rebecca caught up with Nikolas on the docks. She said she was really worried about him and didn't want him facing Helena alone. Rebecca was there to support Nikolas, like he stood by her during her cancer scare. The twosome arrived at Wyndemere. Sddenly, Helena appeared and announced how much she'd missed Nikolas. Then, she glanced over at Rebecca and asked, "Who is this intriguing creature?"
Thursday
Johnny insisted that with Ric's copy of the DVD gone, Claudia has no reason to stay with Sonny, but she was certain she needed the safety net of bearing Sonny's child. When Sonny walked in on their argument, Johnny said he wanted to embrace his destiny and join the mob. He offered his garage as a front. Sonny promised to think about finding a low-level position in which Johnny could prove himself. After Johnny left, Claudia said she didn't tell her brother about Ric's blackmail because she didn't want him to kill Sonny in a bid to protect her. Sonny insisted, "I would never bring another child into this world." Then he got a call from Jason about Ian's accomplice, and left. Meanwhile, Ric faced down the gun-wielding Jerry, who did not want the info on his DVDs made public because he wants to shield Jax and Carly from the fact that he had a hand in hurting her son. Jerry insisted he sent the discs because he cannot resist playing games, but Ric ruined the fun, and has to die. Ric argued that he could be useful in future operations, so Jerry relented. When Ric asked if he could assume Claudia is innocent, Jerry said, "Never assume." Later, Johnny arrived and warned Ric that if Sonny hurts Claudia, Johnny will kill Ric.
A distraught Carly assured Jason that if she's pregnant, "Jax is the only possible father." Then she told him about the blood-clot risks to herself and any baby, and asked him to stay with her while she takes a pregnancy test. But he got a call from Spinelli, and had to leave. At the penthouse, Spinelli said the person siphoning cash from Ian Devlin's account is "the Demented One" — Jerry. "You're kidding me!" Jason screamed and broke a glass. Later, Sam visited Spinelli to tell him she found office space for their detective firm. Jason told her Jerry is alive — and is connected to Michael's shooting. When Spinelli attempted to cart out a box of supplies for the new office. Jason summoned Sonny and showed him the evidence against Jerry. Sonny couldn't figure out why drug-runner Ian would want him dead — or where Ric and Claudia fit in. He ordered Jason to find Jerry and bring him in, so they could extract the truth. Claudia was on the pier when she ran into Jerry. He revealed that he destroyed all of the discs but one, and if she pisses him off, he'll turn it over to Sonny.
At Wyndemere, Helena pointed out that Rebecca couldn't look more like Emily "if she had been designed that way." Still, she dismissed Rebecca as crude, and noted the only reason Nik shows interest is because she resembles Emily. "It must be snowing in hell," Alexis observed, because she agreed with Helena. Helena referred to Alexis as "Natasha," and called her "a most disagreeable child." Helena told Nik he has a painting she wants, locked in a bank vault: an icon painting of St. Grigori. She claimed the artist painted it for her, and it has sentimental value. She threatened to sink his ships, crash his trucks and block his business deals unless he turns over the artwork. Nik agreed. On her way out, Helena said, "Your mother seems to be doing quite well at her clinic in France." Alexis accused Rebecca of being Helena's plant. She tried to defend herself, but got disgusted and left.
Robin scolded Patrick for calling her unfaithful in front of the whole hospital. "I saw you," he said. "How dare you spy on me!" she screamed, and slapped him! She said she liked that Brad had no expectations of her, and while they went on a date, they did not have sex. She blamed her postpartum depression, but he accused her of using that as a dodge. She stalked off — and ran smack into Carly. Robin assumed "this bitch" was enjoying her pain. Carly said she understood how debilitating PPD is, and suggested she turn her superiority complex on herself and get better for Emma's sake. Suddenly, Robin blurted out: "Carly's right; you're right. I'm destroying everything I love, and I don't know how to stop." She said the "hole in my head" is making her act crazy. She swore on Emma's life that she didn't sleep with Brad. Carly went home and made appointment with Kelly — then fainted and tumbled down some stairs.
Friday
Carly told Jax she's okay, just a swollen ankle, and she called Jason. He wondered why she didn't call Olivia. "I promise there is nothing to worry about," Carly said. When Olivia came by, Carly told Jax about Helena's return. Olivia worried that Carly isn't taking her ankle injury or possible pregnancy seriously. Carly promised to take the pregnancy test today. Olivia said she didn't want to have to lie to Jax. Sure enough, later, Jax called Liv to express his suspicions, and wonder whether to tell Carly about Jerry's role in Michael's shooting. Olivia advised him to come home ASAP before deciding. She added that keeping big secrets is complicated.
When Spinelli lamented not being able to locate Jerry, Jason suggested probing Jax's accounts — quietly, so Carly doesn't find out. Meanwhile, Sonny asked if Claudia had any dealings with Jerry. She said Anthony had some contact, but she barely knew him. Sonny said Ric's story is partially true: Jerry is accessing Ian's accounts. Claudia said Ric's lies have enough truth to make them believable. She hoped he wouldn't kill his wife based on something Ric said. Sonny noted he's going to squeeze Jerry before killing him, and he hopes Claudia not involved, but if she is, "You know what I have to do." Later, Sonny went to Jason's and told him to find Jerry. Jason asked what happens if Claudia is guilty? Sonny promised she'll get a bullet in the head, just like anyone else. Sonny asked him why Carly doesn't look so good. "She'll tell you when she's ready," Jason replied. Claudia, meanwhile, told Johnny that Jerry destroyed all the DVDs but one. Still, she knew things were coming apart, and asked Johnny to promise not to go after Sonny if she gets iced, because Jason will kill Johnny in retaliation. Johnny noted he will kill Sonny no matter what, so if she wants to save her brother's life, she needs to get out of her marriage. Claudia insisted she just needs enough time to get pregnant. Jason visited Carly, who asked for his help reading the home test — because if she is pregnant, she has to consider terminating it. Maxie arrived home to discover that Lulu had divided the apartment in half with a white line. Each gal insisted the other move out. When Spinelli arrived, Maxie was ecstatic, but realized he was talking like a normal person. He saw through her computer ruse and suggested that next time she call tech support.
At the refurbished GH, Patrick lamented calling out Robin in public, but Liz pointed out at least everything is out in the open. Patrick said he chooses to believe she didn't sleep with Brad. Robin went to Dr. Brown and apologized for acting "like a bratty 14-year-old." She admitted it's hard to admit she has PPD and can't get help if she shuts down. Dr. Brown questioned her sudden turnaround. Robin suggested everything can be perfect with her husband and her career. Dr. Brown pointed out Robin neglected to mention Emma. Robin said it's hard to take care of Emma when she's "so heavily medicated." Dr. Brown said if she can still practice medicine, she can still parent. Robin asked to stop taking antidepressants, but Brown recommended maintaining for a while, then weaning off. At GH, Patrick picked a fight with Matt and stormed off. He went to Jake's. Like a good bartender, Coleman poured him a drink and inquired after the wife and "rugrat." Patrick noted how things seem to be on the right track, but he doubted Robin will follow through. When Coleman enumerated Robin's problems, Patrick defended her as being "in a lot of pain." Coleman asked if he's looking for a way out. "I'm not ready to give up on her." Patrick said. Back at GH, Robin apologized to Liz, who suggested a playdate with the kids at the park. Robin asked about Patrick, but no one knew where he went. Robin secretly went to the trash and threw away her meds.
Jason went to Michael's room, and was stunned to see Jerry there, talking to him! "You've suddenly become a lot of trouble," Jerry told the boy. Back in Port Charles, Carly insisted that Jason read the pregnancy test. At the same time, Claudia stared at her own pregnancy test — just as Sonny arrived and demanded: "What are you doing?"
