Carolina Bermudez JPI LARGE

In 2009, Z100 radio personality Carolina Bermudez briefly played herself when introducing OLTL special guests The Pussycat Dolls. Now Bermudez is back in Llanview with a new role beginning this week — stepping in where super-snoop Wendy Williams's Phyllis Rose left off!

Soap Opera Digest: How did this come about?
Carolina Bermudez: I've been a friend of ONE LIFE for years, so I have a relationship [with the show]. When this role came up, I really wanted it, so thank goodness I got it.

Digest: How has your Llanview experience been thus far?
Bermudez: This has been unbelievable. It's been great. I'm loving every minute of it. I've watched for years!

Digest: Tell us a little bit about your character, Blanca.
Bermudez: Blanca is a reporter who wants to get to the bottom of the story about who really killed Eddie Ford. She's digging for dirt and will stop at nothing until she gets it. She's a little bit sneaky and a little bit manipulative. At the end of the day, she really wants her viewers to find out who's responsible for it.

Digest: You're a fan of the show, so who were you most excited to work with?
Bermudez: I've watched Dorian forever and Viki is so amazing. Working with Jerry verDorn [Clint] is cool. He's awfully handsome! Everybody is really great to work with. It's just a warm and inviting environment so this was probably the best place for me to do this. When I saw Jerry near the elevators, I was like, "Hi! I think I'm going to be working with you today!" And I got a little star struck! I've met people like Madonna and Lady Gaga and here I am getting all shy in front of people I've watched since I was a little girl, so it's pretty cool.

Digest: Who else will Blanca mix it up with?
Bermudez: Bo and Nora. I think the younger kids aren't safe either. She has a run-in with Destiny and is making her rounds. She definitely covers all her bases in Llanview. She's right in the meat of the story. She's in Clint's hospital room, out and about at the Buenos Dias Cafe, so she's pretty much everywhere!

Digest: You are a radio personality in real life and play a TV reporter on OLTL. Do you inject a little bit of your own style into Blanca?
Bermudez: I'd like to think that we get our stories and we get our interviews and are very friendly and inviting [on her radio show, ELVIS DURAN AND THE MORNING SHOW]. Blanca's a little different [laughs]! But it's fun for me. It's a way for me to kind of just go into a fantasy world and play someone who is completely different than who I am, so it's not hard at all. I have to go to the other extreme, and I love that.

Digest: It will be fun to see you!
Bermudez: I'm just as excited as you are. I've been telling everybody to watch. I have my grandma in San Francisco, I've hit Facebook and Twitter and our listeners!
