Genie Francis, who joined the show in 2011 and earned an Emmy nomination for the role of Genoa City's Genevieve, is out at the No. 1 soap. Rumors of Francis's impending departure began swirling when Jill Farren Phelps was hired as the show's executive producer. In the new issue of Digest, Phelps downplays any talk of problems between her and the iconic actress. "I was the music director [at GENERAL HOSPITAL] when Luke and Laura got married, so I’ve known Genie since she was a very young girl — and I was a very young girl," says Phelps. "I think she’s a wonderful actress and I’m very fond of her. There is no personal acrimony between us." A setside source reports that Francis is just the first to go. "There's going to be a housecleaning," notes the insider.
