Soap Opera Digest

Here's a perfect example of what's funny and what's not on a soap opera. The ALL MY CHILDREN/HOT IN CLEVELAND crossover: funny as hell (and see the March 22 Soap Opera Weekly for a big Hit on it). The fast-motion scene of Madison moving in with Scott: not even cute, much less funny. I understand that AMC is trying to make us root for them as a couple. Indeed, I like them, I really like them! But the sped-up Keystone Cops-like action was uncalled for, jarring and out of place; it took a serious, life-changing step in a relationship and made it seem like a big joke...but not in the right sense. Soaps do need humor to offset the ongoing dramas, but this was off the mark.
