An Enchanted Evening With Port Chuck

It was a GENERAL HOSPITAL fan’s dream come true: Port Chuck bandmates Steve Burton (Jason), Scott Reeves (Steven), Brandon Barash (Johnny) and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) all under the same roof! I’ve been a huge Jason fan ever since he made the switch from Jason Quartermaine to Jason Morgan (Thank you, AJ!), so to see the actor in person was amazing.

In fact, all four actors were pretty awesome. The guys put on a show that rocked the house and made fans throughout the auditorium the happiest people in the world… or at least in Connecticut. “Did you ever imagine that one day we’d be sitting here with them?” I heard one ecstatic fan gush to another.

Before the first note was played, the band members greeted the audience as they filed in. Shortly after Burton introduced his bandmates. As for himself, he joked, “You guys know me because I have great hair!”

Each member had a special skill. Reeves, who has been a part of his own band Blue County for many years, played the guitar and added some great vocals. Barash showed us he could work a mean harmonica. Anderson gave us an updated version of Jackson Browne‘s “Somebody’s Baby”, while the other three harmonized like they have been together for years. Burton gave Grandmaster Flash a run for his money and had fans out of their seats when he rapped “White Lines.”

In an evening right out of Karaoke Night at Jake’s (minus the karaoke part), the guys seemed to be having as much fun as the fans did. The songs they chose ranged from “Feel Like Makin’ Love” by Bad Company to “In The End” by Linkin Park. And what’s a concert without Bon Jovi‘s “Livin’ On A Prayer”? The capper was Rick Springfield‘s (ex-Noah, GH) “Jessie’s Girl.”

“We don’t want to take ourselves so seriously,” explained Burton. “We just want to have fun with the fans and do stuff that people know because it takes them back. And we’re having fun on stage.”
So, what’s next for Port Chuck? “We’re thinking of doing an album,” revealed Burton. “It will probably be an album of cover songs. We try not to do stuff that’s super-current because you don’t want to rip anybody off.”

There’s still time for fans to catch them — the guys plan to hit the road again in early 2011. “We’re thinking February or April,” said Burton. “We just have to figure out where we’re going to go…”
