I'm probably the only Dutch member on this board, but I just wanted to share how HAPPY I am these days with the Dutch soap Goede Tijden Slechte Tijden (Good Times Bad Times). We're in season 19 right now and it's just so good. Season 16 and 17 were awful. Season 18 was a little better, but still not great. But this season things changed. New writers. They got rid of useless characters and introduced new, but interesting characters played by great actors. Sets look better. The lighting improved. The location scenes look great.

I watch only two soaps. This one and As the World Turns. These days it's almost painful to watch ATWT. A couple of months ago the media over here reported that the writers/producers of ATWT had a meeting with the writers/producers of GTST. ATWT gave them advice on how to improve the show. It's ironic that ATWT is still in the gutter, while GTST is climbing in the ratings (on Monday almost 1.6 million viewers!).

They just ended a really emotional week on the show. A legacy character (who has been on the show since 1992) died (actress moved to the US). Today's episode was just about her while she said goodbye to her family, her daughter and friends. Very emotional and just SO GOOD. The show even brought back two characters for this (played by the original actors).

I've gone through ups and downs with this show and I hope I'll experience another "up" with ATWT very soon. In the meantime I'm just going to enjoy GTST. Too bad most of you don't understand Dutch.
