The Divas of Daytime TV Rock

I finally got to attend a concert by the Divas of Daytime, and it was great; everyone both on- and offstage had a completely wonderful time.

The singers performed at Staten Island’s historic St. George Theatre on Saturday, Oct. 10. Kassie DePaiva (Blair, ONE LIFE TO LIVE), Kathy Brier (ex-Marcie, OLTL) and Bobbie Eakes (Krystal, ALL MY CHILDREN) make such an appealing trio! First, there’s the visual aspect, with one blonde, one brunette and one redhead, all different heights. They clearly love singing together and love each other. All three have fabulous voices (and their CDs were on sale in the lobby), and together, they blend beautifully.

They did covers of recognizable tunes by artists from Lee Ann Womack to Elton John, and from country to Motown. There was such energy in the audience that one couldn’t help but sing and dance along. The audience was packed with soap fans, always an enthusiastic bunch.

DePaiva is the unofficial leader, and offered most of the banter in between numbers. She’s a natural at flirting with the audience and interacting with her co-singers. The three sang some tunes together, and there were solos where the other two sang backup.
My personal favorite was their rendition of Womack’s “I Hope You Dance.” The Divas’ harmonizing on that beautiful song sent chills up my spine.

If you’ve never heard them, I strongly suggest you do. You can catch clips on YouTube; to find out about upcoming performances, go to www.divasofdaytimetv.com.
