There has got to be a better way!! How can you have a best show (GH) that everyone seems to hate because it is so dark, dreary and violent; a best director (Jill Mitwell, OLTL) that has no best actor nominees and younger actress nominees we never heard instead of proven 'veterans' like Kristen Alderson???
I know it's the same question asked every year at this time but I am completely fed up with this nominating process.
Let's forget the Emmy's and go back to the "Soapy's".

My winners (in case anyone cares):
Best Actor: Bob Woods (OLTL)
Best Actress: Laura Wright (GH)/ Kassie DePaiva (OLTL)
Best Supporting Actor: Greg Vaughn (GH)
Best Supporting Actress: Kathy Brier (OLTL)
Younger Actor: Brandon Buddy (OLTL)
Younger Actress: duh!! Kristen Alderson (OLTL)
Best Show: OLTL
Directing; OLTL
Best hardly ever used actor: TImothy B Stickney (OLTL)

Yes, I am biased!! I have watched OLTL since it's inception and it does not receive the credit it deserves for being one of the best shows, with one of the greatest acting emsembles on all of TV!!!

Here's to your 40th anniversary One Life. Keep on living!!

Long time loyal viewer,
Ellen

The system sucks..period. Everyone knows it.

And there should not be a best show award..it should be a best episode because from what I understand, only one episode can be considered by the judges. With this current system, it could be the worst miserable show with a really great episode and still win.

Also..and no disrespect to Tony Geary. He IS fabulous..I get it. But frankly, for someone who lives in Amsterdam practically half the year, it's ridiculous that he should be in lead actor category, when you have many full time actors in many shows working their butts off 24/7. At this stage of his career, he should either take himself out of the running or put himself in supporting actor.

I will never accept that Alicia Minshew and Thorsten Kaye were not nominated this year.

The show itself was boring as heck. The best part of the show was the opening skit with Cam and Sherry at the AMC/View studio. It was downhill from there. Why ABC chose to hardly even show close ups of the actors and celebs in the audience was a poor choice..that's what most people tune in for. I didn't really need to see them pan over the tables over and over again when we couldn't see any faces.

I understand that the two hour format works better for certain things..but it certainly eliminates any opportunity to get more personal and showcase the actors and the talent. It worked like clockwork..like a well oiled machine..but it was the least personal emmy awards I have ever seen.

Kudo's to the OLTL writers for winning. Gee, getting a head writer from the already in place writing staff..can certainly pay off.

Oh and geez..that pre-show was equally bad and dull.. I know it was incredibly hot there..but the commentators seemed to be trying too hard . It was like one big commercial for soap net. Where is Linda Dano when you need her?

And not for nothing. The red carpet is there to showcase the actors and celebs from Daytime TV and I personally am really NOT that interested in shoes.

The opening skit was hilarious...easily my favorite part of the night.I'm THRILLED for OLTL's writing team. Think Ron is an awesome head writer and I'm so happy for him and his team All in all it was a very lackluster show

When you hire someone who has worked as a writer for years..you have someone who understands the history of the characters. It makes for richer storylines...that are more character directed and less storyline directed. You would hope the other two ABC soaps might take notice ot this.Quote:I'm THRILLED for OLTL's writing team. Think Ron is an awesome head writer and I'm so happy for him and his team I agree. His stories right now are awesome. I love how he uses the history. It's almost like the shows history has become another character.I, too, hope that another ABC show will take notice and stop changing relationships or pretend that a characters actions don't matter to those they hurt the most. It's insulting.
