I agree. I watched it live (for the most part). I should have DVR'ed. No clips of the actors? The Sesame Street thing seemed like an eternity, and so was the Daytime Gives Back segment. Vanessa's first song was cute but the second one was unnecessary. The Fashion show...WTF? They let Vincent Irizarry ramble on forever (sorry AMC fans) and don't even get me started on cutting off B&B's acceptance speech, one that would have been nice to hear since it was their first win ever! Not to mention, the shameless self-promotion of the CW's shows. But the real slap in the face is the whole two minutes that the GL tribute lasted. A real WTF moment.I guess I should be happy that we got to see the show at all.

I stumbled onto the Emmy's last night while channel surfing (should have watched Criminal Minds instead since there was a marathon) and I was disgusted as to what they've become. The Emmy's should have never been broadcasted this year. It's more then a joke. The process is unfair and completely off. Susan Haskell won over Susan Flannery and Jeanne Cooper? Have I missed something? THREE shows going after the Emmy and Days snubbed again? That was, quite frankly, the only way B&B could win. (And where was Bill Bell's acceptance speech? Was it cut off?!) They went up against Days and AMC. It looks like, as a whole, soaps are a dying breed and most/all are shown no respect. Ooookay...I'm off my soapbox.

sadly I found it to be a big joke.. the ONLY thing that I found exciting in the whole sordid, boring affair was when Susan Lucci was doing her lame, bogus, overly cutsy "marilyn monroe thing".. I kept hoping her boobs would fall out so we would have SOME excitment for the TWO HOURS i invested in this drivelling nonsense....Sesame Street was major overkill.....lame..boring..too long.. over kill....waste of at least ten minutes of my time.....the whole "poverty" thing...yet again overkill...I tuned in to watch an AWARD show...not a UNICEF/childrens show/Broadway production....just MY opinion....NOW i know WHY I dont like Vincent Irizarry!

To those who didn't even know the show was on......TRrust me.. you missed NOTHING.. it was the most boringest, most pathetic, most lamest show i think I have ever watched... It was on Last night, on the CW network.. Hell, I dont even have THAT network in MY area.. Had to use satelite to locate a CW up in NEW YORK.....Love Susan Lucci to pieces, but that crap last night was soooo cheesy.. she is just too damned 80's campy......Vincent Irizarry..on All my children NOW, but was DAVID CHOW on Y & R .. was allowed to stay up on stage just a tad bit too long...speech was truly stupid....I am SERIOUS.. the ONLY excitement ( for me) was the great hope Susan Luccis Boobs would have fallen out of her straples number she had on......).. Billy Miller and Elizabeth Hendrickson (aka Billy and Chloe, on Y & R) walked on, did a presentation, and IN THE MIDDLE OF IT walked off the stage, then rushed back cause they were NOT finished and NEVER ANNOUNCED their category.........Camera guys kept "focusing in " On a friggen wall......Vanessa Williams, the host, kept "rolling her eyes" at different things.......They did a stupid "40 year anniversary" to SESAME STREET....Was on too long, took up too much time, was not really entertaining in the least, and truly bored me to the point I changed the channel.....just as I did during their Lame attempt to try and pull at my heart strings for starving people around the world....Note to susan Lucci......when you do a heart felt sentamental piece, try NOT to act.....Was just a true WASTE OF MY TWO HOURS.......

The show was beyond unwatchable. I taped and watched at the same time. I am shocked at some of the winners. I am actually at a loss for words. What an insult to daytime. It was like it went back twenty years. That fashion show was beyond insulting...WTF. The Bold and the Beautiful is a better soap than Y&R and GH and even OLTL, I am sorry but it just isn't. Bree Williamson on OLTL blew Lulu from GH away and she wins. The whole thing was beyond dumb. Someone please put an end to all this!

2009 Daytime Emmy Award Show - 08/30/09What was the CW thinking when they allowed Vanessa Williams to take up so much time singing yet they cut off Brad Bell's acceptance speech for winning Best Daytime Drama for the Bold & the Beautiful after waiting 22 years to do so! They also had commercials interrupting the program during Tyra Banks presentation and gave 40 year old Sesame Street more time and attention than 72 year old Guiding Light! CRIMINAL!!! CW Programming needs to be held accountable for there actions and make a public apology to Brad Bell and Guiding Light!!! As for the award winners...don't even get me started! Jeff Branson won for his short term role on GL (token award) yet Jacob Young, who has devoted his amazing acting talents for years on AMC, was not tied with Vincent Irizarry (who so deserved this award). Next, we have Susan Haskell beating Jeanne Cooper for Lead Actress!!!! I think NOT!!! Let's see Susan Haskell try to do Jeanne's dual roles when she's 80 years old...you won't even remember her name or who she is!!! Disgraceful!!!!

I had also taped the pre-show to see the stars arriving. I saw Susan Lucci and that was about it. Do they have a clue who the "stars" are? Than a panel to say who they thought would win. Please. The show was such a joke. I remember years ago the Soap Opera Digest Awards that were televised and they did a better job than last night. Daytime was played out like the stero type they are made out to be. If daytime was ever to be taken seriously last night they were made a foul of and it was so embarrassing. B&B is funny and makes you laugh but to beat out other shows that have ten times the storyline. Makes daytime look like a joke. I am so disappointed and feel so embarrassed to even say I watched...

Well I'm happy that at least two people actually won for DAYS finally! After years of (granted, sometimes it was actually DESERVED) Days being TOTALLY ignored!They even (gasp) ACTUALLY got nominations this year & deserved them and should have won ALL of their nominations IMHOThe writing's become SO much better recently on Days despite the fact they've fired MOST of my favorite actors/actresses & gotten rid of most of my fave characters in lieu of all the younger ones (boo)VERY glad for Darin. He deserved it. Tamara? Not so much. HATED her character & was happy when they let her AND her character go. She wasn't on there that long & others on there deserved nom (and win) more IMHO. But I'm happy for her. She's an excellent actress.Peter Reckell should have WON!He's been snubbed for years & certainly deserves a win. So does Joseph Mascolo for Stefano. Glad I didn't watch the thing. Was upset that major networks snubbed it and didn't care enough to go find it on CW. Can't believe one of the major 3 wouldn't carry it b/c it was always the classiest & best awards show on tv period I thought.Instead I watched football on NBC with hubby. Doesn't sound like I missed much from all I've heard/read. Heard it was horrible. AND boring.In past years, I've always thought daytime folks were the best dressed, best behaved bunch of folks on ANY of the award shows including the nightime Emmys and Oscars! ALL of the daytime folks are GORGEOUS of course AND the ladies are always dressed in THE most beautiful (and yet classy) gowns & the guys look so great. ALL of them are classy & you never had to worry about all the cussing & nasty words & remarks out of any of THEM on the red carpet or during the show.I've heard SO many people I know say the same thing as well as having read and heard the same thing on/in national mediaIt's a shame that the 3 major networks have shunned THE best AWARDS show period & it's ended up on an obscure cable channel but at least THEY picked it up so good for them even if I didn't watch itI hope enough people did that at least they will pick it up again next year IF the three major networks are STUPID enough AGAIN to shun the great daytime stars & the showI'd FAR rather watch the Daytime STARS (who have far more talent & work a LOT harder with all the pages of scripts they have EVERY DAY to learn etc)& THEIR Emmy show than the nightime one(s).I'm disappointed that Days was beaten & especially Peter Reckell! I totally agree. Do the judges really look at the soaps or do they just look at the clips? I been stopped looking at B&B. All of the soaps are better soaps. My stars!! Talk about having mercy for something. Worse last nite there was a tie between Vincent Irzarry(granded he desired it) and that other guy, it should have been the same when it came to Julie Maria Berman and Kristin Storm it was not. eThose young women are the most talented young actors I have seen in a long time. No one else compares to Lulu and Maxie togather they complinment each other they make you feel the friendship and respect they have for each other. Like Yin and Yank, the good and the bad. One is alway ready to do their best for the other. so good with each other and down home like peanut butter and jelly. Kirsten should have gotten an emmy too. Julie showed she felt the same when she said she accepted this emmy for herself and Kirsten. Great Girl.

I hated the show last night, the only exception was Day's Darin Brooks(Max) and Tamara Braun(Ava) won. I am so PISSSSSSSSSSSED that Peter Reckell(Bo) didn't win. I like Christain LeBlanc (Michael Y&R), but Peter deserved it so much more than anyone nominated that night in any catergory. Once again he was ripped off and so was the show. They should have one for best drama series and writing team. I will probably not watch the show next year, because I personally think that Peggy McCay (Caroline Brady) should have been nominated. She was superb in the scences when she found out Grandpa Shawn died. Well, next year emmy's should have Sami, Nicole, Ej, Rafe, Dr. Baker and Stefano up for nominations. IOMP

Hi!Everything you posted, I've heard from other folks so now I'm glad I DIDN'T bother even trying to watch it As I posted b/4, this show used to be THE classiest awards show aired I thought. But from the sounds of this one, it sounds like it was nothing but cheesy tripe. And I've read that most fans are really ticked too 'cause they pretty much made total fun of soaps which if they EVER needed some credibility, it's now. As well as respect.I don't like Susan Lucci 'cause I"ve ALWAYS thought she overacts & after watching Dancing w/the Stars when she was on, I disliked her even more! She was SO fake on that.Anyway, be that as it may, I don't watch the CBS soaps at all. I'm a LONG time Days fan & watch OLTL & GH, and can't believe that Susan Haskell won. I really like her but considering the talent she was up against? I don't know how she won quite honestly. I'm happy for her dont' get me wrong, BUT.....I'm still mad that NON of the 3 major networks or even FOX picked up the show this year. I can't believe Bree Williamson didn't win either! I was shocked when I read that!I mean, my gosh, look at what Bree took on this year! The whole awards show was an insult to daytime and the actors who work so very, very hard on them. I am not going to say I won't watch next year but at this rate I don't know if there will be a next year. I see the whole soap opera industry ending soon. People have lost interest with dumb story lines, actors leaving and being replaced with one's that aren't as talented and it is just a shame. Sunday night to me was the beginning of the end...

The Daytime Emmys is the only awards show I have ever cared about, ever got excited about. Even though I haven't watched soaps the last few years, I still get excitied about it because I know of most of the nominees. I was just glad the show was on tv this year. The only thing I will criticize is the pre-show and I thought that was disappointing. We really didn't need to hear the "experts" opinions on who would/should win - we already read all of that in their publications. That was a waste of time that could have been spent on more stars on the red carpet. And I hated that the CW was plugging their own shows during the red carpet special! TACKY! I realize the Awards pulled in it's lowest ratings ever, but I hope the show is back next year. I like to see Daytime get the same respect and kudos as Primetime! Maybe soaps should ask the government for some bailout $$$?
