Tuesday
Stephanie turned up at Steve and Kayla's door and told her dad that Jeremy was smuggling girls into the country. Steve asked if Steph had known anything about this. She swore she hadn't. Steve comforted his daughter, then asked her to steer clear of Jeremy. Steph insisted that Jeremy could fix this and didn't deserve to go to jail. She asked Steve
if he'd help her beau if he needed it. Steve assured Steph that he'd help her. With that Steph gave her dad a hug and left. Kayla emerged, saying she thought she'd heard Stephanie. Steve explained that Steph had been there and recounted Jeremy's troubles. He assured Kayla that he'd handle the situation.
At the hospital, Sami wanted to read Colleen and Santo's letters. Lucas didn't; he was sick of the DiMeras. EJ arrived to thank Lucas for saving him. Lucas already regretted it. Lucas took a call from Kate and left, noting that his mother was in trouble. He met Kate at the pub, where she announced that Andre had tried to kill her. Earlier, she'd
went to step into the elevator to find the shaft was open. Lucas suggested
Kate stay with him and Sami. Kate was against that. Lucas suggested
calling Roman for help. Again, she resisted. Roman wasn't her biggest
fan, since she admitted her tryst with Stefano. Roman arrived and noted
that the cops had inspected the elevator and it appeared to be mechanical failure. Kate was sure Andre had orchestrated it, and she was going to die. "Not on my watch," countered Roman, who asked Kate to stay at his place. "You can't be serious," Kate responded. Roman was.
Alone with Sami, EJ mentioned their kiss in the steam room. He knew Sami felt the passion. Sami denied it. They bickered back and forth. Sami went to read the latest Colleen/Santo letters, but EJ grabbed them, noting that they belonged to both their families. EJ wanted Sami
to promise they'd read them together. Sami's cell rang and it was Lucas, explaining that he had to help Kate. Lucas asked if EJ had returned to see her. Sami lied that he hadn't. When Sami hung up, EJ urged her to read the letters, so he could get pointers on how to persuade the woman you're in love with that she's in love with you.
Bo told Tony that he needed Stefano to stay in the hospital so he could kill him. It was part of ruse to draw out Andre via a faux funeral. Tony said that Andre knew the Bradys weren't killers. If Bo was going to pull this off, he'd have to find someone Andre would
believe was capable of murder. Tony suggested Steve. When Abe arrived,
Bo filled him in on Tony's idea. Abe agreed to it, if Bo thought Steve
could handle it. Meanwhile, Tony told Stefano his surgery was successful. Rolf wanted Stefano released into his care. Tony insisted Stefano stay in the hospital in case something went wrong. Stefano doubted his son's concern and asked for a moment alone with Tony. He
revealed a dream he had about the Bradys murdering him and begged Tony to get him out of there. Tony said he'd see what he could do and pledged his loyalty to their family. Stefano vowed to reward Tony with everything he had if Tony protected him. Tony proclaimed it an honor.
Bo arrived and told Steve that Tony was on board with their plan to smoke out Andre. In fact, Tony came up with the perfect assassin for Stefano: Steve. Steve accepted the assignment, but wanted to talk to Kayla about it. After Bo left, Steve noted that he was going to be involved in Bo's scheme to get Andre. Kayla was furious, but Steve
explained that none of the Bradys were killers. Steve insisted nothing would go wrong and that this was the only way to protect the people he loved. Later, Bo found Tony, who recounted Stefano's dream and noted that his father probably wouldn't be in the hospital after
tomorrow. "Stefano DiMera is going to have to die tonight," announced Bo.
Wednesday
Nick enjoyed burgers and fries with Artemis and Demarquette. When Billie arrived, Nick confessed he knew little about being a parent, but hoped that if he took good care of the boys, the karma gods would give him another chance with Chelsea. Nick also admitted that he didn't think A and D were who he thought they were. They were fluent in French and geniuses. It made Nick think they weren't China Lee's kids. Nick wondered if the boys might have been kidnapped. Billie noted that something like that would have been all over the news. "Not if there was blackmail involved," said Nick. Billie offered to do some digging. Nick returned to the boys and asked if they wanted to go lunar bowling. As they left, a mystery man followed.
On board Touch the Sky, Max and Chelsea bemoaned the smuggling scam Jeremy got them into. Stephanie confessed to Jeremy that she'd told her dad he might be in trouble. Jeremy freaked, vowing to split the minute they hit the ground and suggested Steph run away with him. Jett informed Max that things were slated to go down as planned. Steph filled Chelsea in on her talk with Jeremy, his plan to skip town, and how he asked her to go with him. Steph didn't know what to do. Jett approached Chelsea and told her to go to her room and stay there once they got to Vegas. Jett assured a nervous Chelsea there wouldn't be a problem, if Jeremy surrendered peacefully. Chelsea admitted that Jeremy planned to split and wanted Steph to go with him. Steph ran into Max. The duo admitted they couldn't stop thinking about their kiss. Max suggested talking about it when they got back to Salem. Steph admitted she might not be returning, because Jeremy asked her to run away with him.
EJ pestered Sami to read Santo and Colleen's letters, noting how the pair's relationship was similar to theirs. Sami disagreed; she was happily married and knew to stay away from a DiMera. EJ read how time stood still when Santo held Colleen in his arms. Then, Sister Mary Ann frightened Colleen away and everything that mattered disappeared. Santo swore he'd make things right. Sami wondered about Santo pursuing Colleen so relentlessly and read on. Colleen knew the power of temptation and ran away from it. Father Mallory asked if Colleen had something to tell them. Colleen lied and said she wasn't with Santo. Sister Mary Ann thought it was odd that Colleen's scarf turned up in Santo's room. Santo arrived with a woman, apologized to Sister Mary Ann for not being hospitable, and offered to make a donation to the church.
Santo introduced Mrs. Fitzpatrick to Father Mallory and noted that she was in his room when Sister Mary Ann came to the door. Father Mallory wanted Sister Mary Ann to apologize, but Santo said it wasn't necessary. Alone with Colleen, Santo assured she wouldn't have any more trouble. Still, Colleen was upset that she had lied and asked Santo to stay away from her. Sami thought Santo should have let Colleen go if he loved her. EJ disagreed, insisting Colleen wanted adventure in her life and Santo offered it. Colleen confessed that she was weak, that night, and prayed to God for strength. But God was far away, while Santo's accomplice, Mrs. Fitzpatrick, was there. Father Mallory told Colleen that Mrs. Fitzpatrick needed help watching the neighborhood children. Colleen was to start the next morning, knowing she'd have to fight her sinful desires. Sami commented on Santo's shamelessness and how Colleen was trapped. EJ countered that the duo were meant to be together. "You and I have a choice, too," he told Sami. "We can choose to reject our fate ... and regret it for the rest of our lives."
Thursday
Chelsea promised the smuggled gals that Max and Jeremy would get them away from this mess. Max hoped Stephanie could get Jeremy to do the right thing. Chelsea recounted Steph's plan: If Jeremy was determined to bail, she would go with him, but only after he flew the girls out. Max vowed not to let Steph leave with Jeremy. Meanwhile, Jett arranged
the plan to set up Rawlins. Steph confronted Jeremy about skipping
town. Jeremy insisted Max didn't need him to clean up this mess. Steph
pointed out that Max couldn't fly a plane. No matter, Jeremy was leaving and hoped Steph was coming with him. Steph begged Jeremy to fly the girls out first. Desperate not to spend any time in jail, Jeremy said he couldn't and kissed Steph goodbye.
Chelsea took Ilsa and the girls to the cars heading to the airport, while Jett went over the plans to nail Rawlings with his fellow agents. Jett told Chelsea and Max that Jeremy could avoid jail time if he cooperated. Chelsea was sure Steph would work her magic. "Think again," said a teary-eyed Steph. Jett noted that he could fly the girls out
once he had Rawlings in custody and told Max, Chelsea and Steph to head
to the plane. Max and Steph left. Chelsea wouldn't budge. She didn't
want Jett facing Rawlins alone. Jett feared for Chelsea, saying he'd die before letting anything happen to her. Seconds later, Jett was shot and fell to the floor, as Chelsea screamed for help.
Max boarded the plane and informed Ilsa that Jett would be flying them out. Despite Jeremy bailing on them, Ilsa said he wasn't a bad man. Steph thought Ilsa was sweet. She just got mixed up with the wrong guy, like her. Steph berated herself for falling for Jeremy after swearing off bad boys. "Like me?" asked Max. Then, the pair discussed
their failed romance. Ilsa returned wondering where Jett was, while
Jeremy listened to a news bulletin about a shooting on The Strip and Chelsea tended to a bleeding Jett. Max took out his phone to call Jett, when Rawlings arrived and announced his buddy wasn't going to make it.
Sami denied she and EJ had a fate like Colleen and Santo, and they bickered. EJ read on about Colleen running through the rain to Santo's room. He opened the door and pulled her inside. Santo had Colleen sit by the fire as he dried her hair. Colleen admitted she'd never been so close to a man before. Then, Santo kissed Colleen and they made love.
"Looks like Santo got what he wanted," said Sami. "Colleen got what she wanted, too," countered EJ. Afterwards, Santo told Colleen there was no turning back. She belonged with him. Santo asked her to come away with him. Sami's nurse interrupted to give her a shot. Sami said the injections always made her feel out it. The nurse told her to go with
it. Afterwards, Sami noted that Santo manipulated Colleen and turned her world upside down. EJ didn't buy it, noting that the couple were deeply in love. "We feel what they felt," announced EJ. Sami told EJ to stop trying to pretend there was a connection between them. EJ insisted that Santo and Colleen were a part of him and Sami. "I love every part
of you — the good, the bad, and everything between," professed EJ.
"And I am not giving up until you are mine." In the past, Colleen said
it wasn't possible to run off with Santo. In the present Sami got
woozy, much to EJ's delight. He moved in for a kiss. Santo and Colleen
smooched, too. Suddenly, Sami woke up and pushed EJ away. Then, she
threw a vase at him and demanded he leave.
Friday
As Jett struggled to breathe after being shot, Chelsea tried to console him
while they waited for an ambulance. "Somebody do something!" she screamed through tears. The paramedics finally showed up, and Chelsea tried to call
Stephanie to tell her what happened. In the ambulance, Chelsea tried to get
Jett to rest and save his strength, but he was fighting to tell her
something. He asked her to come close, and when she leaned in, he told her
he loved her. Chelsea thought he was delusional because he'd lost so much
blood, but Jett assured her that he knew exactly what he'd said and he meant
it.
Meanwhile, on the plane ride from hell, crazy Rawlings was still holding
Max, Stephanie and the girls hostage. Armed Rawlings faced off with Max when
Max tried to stop him from taking off. Max thought he was protecting the
girls, but when Rawlings called on his "angels" all of the girls pulled guns
on Max, revealing that they were in cahoots. Then, trying to come up with a
plan B, Stephanie told Max how sorry she was that she ever introduced him to
Jeremy. Max didn't blame her, and he told her that he never should have
fallen for the scheme. Before they could get back to figuring out how to
escape, Rawlings informed them that he'd selected the two of them to
de-board the plane — while they were still in flight!
At the hospital, Lucas tried to chat with Sami, but she said she was
thinking about Santo and Colleen. She told him she'd read more of the love
letters with EJ. She tried to explain that she'd only read them so he'd
leave her alone and that nothing happened, but Lucas accused her of using
the vendetta to get closer to EJ. Sami was hurt, but Lucas didn't back down.
He demanded that Sami be honest about her feelings once and for all.
During his last minutes in his hospital room, Stefano grabbed EJ and Tony's
hands. "We must forgive one another," he said. "Family conquers all." But EJ
disagreed, saying that he believed love conquered all (was he referring to
Sami?). Eventually, two nurses came in to remove Stefano from his room. On
the way out, Bo and Roman showed up to escort Stefano home and make sure he
wasn't harmed by one of his many enemies. "If my survival depends on the
Salem police, I may as well slit my wrists now," Stefano said.
Soon after, Steve showed up to carry out the plan he, Bo, Roman and Tony had
devised. Roman and Bo played along, asking Steve to stand back and stay
cool. EJ tried to get Steve to leave his father alone, but Stefano wanted
to hear what Steve had to say. Steve apologized for his actions before
Stefano's surgery. He said he was upset about Benjy, and Stefano said he
understood. "No hard feelings, boss?" Steve asked. After Steve finished his
spiel, Bo and Roman told him he needed to leave. Before he exited, Stefano
called him back and extended his hand. "You have been a good soldier,
Steven," Stefano said. When they released their grip, Steve pulled a knife from his pocket. "This is for Benjy!" he yelled, and faked the plunging of the knife into Stefano's chest. Bo and Roman tackled Steve to the ground and EJ helped. Tony then moved in to give Stefano the injection that would knock him out. Once the medicine kicked in, Tony began to yell for a doctor. EJ
joined in and grabbed Stefano, trying desperately to get him to wake up. The
doctor finally showed up, but by then, Stefano was completely limp. "To late
doc, he's going to hell!" Steve said. When the doctor pronounced Stefano
"dead," Steve laughed. "I'll kill you!" EJ screamed as he tried to lunge at
Steve. Roman took Steve away, and Bo declared the area a crime scene. "He's
the phoenix, he will rise again as he always has," EJ said sadly. "Not this
time, brother," Tony replied. "Not this time."
