Monday

Melanie and Nick argued about who would pay their bill at Chez Rouge, as she hid Trent's ID. Doug and Julie arrived and saw the pair. Maggie and Mickey filled them in on Melanie, who kept gushing all over Nick for defending her in France. Melanie plopped onto Nick's lap and smothered him with thankful kisses. Julie labeled Melanie a troublemaker. Mickey hung up from a call from Hope and informed Melanie and company Trent was dead.

Max emerged from the shower, and Stephanie asked why there was blood all over his shirt. Max admitted he'd been at the cemetery visiting his Pop's grave when he came upon Trent, and they got into a fight. The pair's phones rang and they both found out Trent was murdered and Caroline had been arrested. Steph assured Max she didn't think he killed Trent.

Meanwhile, at the cemetery, Bo and Hope found Caroline hovering over Trent's body with a bloody knife in hand. Caroline swore it wasn't what it looked like. While Jenkins read Caroline her rights, Hope called Mickey for legal aid. Later, at the police station, Bo hauled in Caroline. Roman saw her bloody hands. Caroline professed her innocence. Mickey, Maggie, Doug and Julie arrived. Mickey took Caroline off to talk, while Bo told the others what happened. Nick and Melanie arrived. Bo told Melanie she was going to have to identify Trent's body. Melanie turned to Nick for comfort. Roman admitted he had to put his mother in jail and hauled her off. Bo vowed to find Trent's real killer. Max and Steph arrived at the station. Roman put Caroline behind bars.

Steve joined Hope at the crime scene, admitting a lot of people were better off with Trent dead. A cop handed Hope some of his findings: Trent had a bloody lip, scrapes on his knuckles ... She and Steve suspected more than one person attacked Trent. Later, a cop gave Hope a piece of fiber found on Trent's body. Hope hoped it would lead to the killer.

Kate and Daniel entered her hospital cubicle as she pondered the possibility of having lung cancer. Daniel said it might be in its early stages. Kate begged Daniel not to tell anyone about her condition. A nurse summoned the doc, who left and found Nicole. She described her symptoms to him. Kate walked out and tossed a barb at Nicole. Nicole went on about having a steady diet of alcohol and how she thought she had food poisoning. She also told Daniel that Victor found out she was married to Trent, which made their divorce settlement invalid. Daniel left as Nicole muttered to herself about Trent. Daniel phoned Kate to check on her and learned she was at a business meeting at Chez Rouge. Later, Daniel returned with Nicole's test results: she's pregnant!

Philip found Chloe at the pub and asked where Lucas was. Chloe noted he was running errands with Allie and said that living with a baby was exhausting. Chloe asked about Morgan. Philip said she was with her mom and flirted with Chloe. The pair admitted they were glad to still be friends. Chloe mentioned her desire to get back into singing, but that she couldn't do it since she promised to help Lucas with Allie. Lucas interrupted, admitting he hated to see Chloe sacrifice her dreams. He urged Chloe to focus on her career and said Philip could help. Lucas told Chloe he was back working at Titan and that the Kiriakis Foundation was underwriting the opera in Kansas City. They were putting on a production and Chloe would be perfect for the lead. Chloe and Lucas hugged, as Philip left and looked back at Chloe, longingly.

Tuesday

As Sami and Lucas chatted in the DiMera study, EJ burst in. Both guys were there to take their respective twin on an outing. Sami said neither of them was taking the kids anywhere — Allie just went down for her nap. Lucas didn't care and went to fetch his daughter. EJ sat down in front of Sami's computer and noticed her resume on the screen. He was impressed she was looking for a job. He asked about Sami's skills. She couldn't list many. Lucas interrupted and said he was leaving with Allie. He and Sami discussed her resume. Then, Lucas told her about Caroline's arrest. Sami thought there had to be a mistake. EJ emerged with Johnny. Sami told EJ and Lucas to take the twins and go. She phoned her father at the station, but they wouldn't put her call through. She fumed... then fainted. Later, Lucas returned and found Sami passed out.

Hope met Chelsea at the pub. Chelsea noted she was going to take some classes at the university and lamented Dean Robbins was going to be one of her professors. Hope broke the news that Trent had been murdered and Caroline was the number one suspect. Chelsea said she suspected someone else: Melanie. Hope asked Chelsea how her social life was going. Chelsea said, fortunately, she hadn't run into Daniel much at the hospital. Hope assured her she would find a guy to sweep her off her feet. Chelsea admitted she should have handled her breakup with Nick differently. Hope asked if Chelsea still had feelings for Nick. Chelsea swore she didn't. Besides, he was interested in someone else.

Max prepared to visit Caroline at the jail. He blamed himself for bringing Trent into everyone's life. Stephanie noted that all he did was clean up Trent's messes. In walked Melanie. Steph left to head for the jail, so Max could chat with Mel. Mel asked if Max trusted her. He did. Mel promised Max's secret was safe with her. She knew he killed Trent. Max said he did no such thing, but thought Mel did. He went off on her for letting Caroline take the wrap for what she did. Mel was furious at the accusation and stormed off.

Bo told Roman that Caroline wasn't doing well in jail. Bo, Roman and Steve went over the facts. Abe arrived to offer his help. The mayor showed up and taunted Bo and Roman. He was concerned about another murder in Salem and another Brady being behind bars. He suggested someone more objective handle the case, especially with Bo's penchant for tampering with evidence. Bo fumed. Roman said the best men were already on the case. The mayor agreed to leave things as they were, but warned he'd be watching them. Alone, the mayor asked Abe if he wanted to do some freelance work for him — namely, watch the Brady brothers. Abe said he couldn't be bought. Bo went over the suspects in Trent's murder and added them to the board –— Caroline, Max, Nick, Nicole... Hope walked in and suggested a new name: Melanie! Steph arrived and Bo asked if she thought Melanie was capable of murder. Melanie walked in on cue, stunned that anyone thought she killed Trent. Steph left to talk to Max, who filled her in on his spat with Melanie. Steph noted that Melanie was inside with the cops. Bo asked Melanie if she'd killed Trent. Melanie swore she didn't. No matter — Bo told her she was a suspect and couldn't leave town.

Lexie sent Theo off with his therapist, Mark, when Kayla arrived. Lexie was surprised to see her there. Kayla told her she was given the chief of staff job. Lexie congratulated Kayla and they headed for coffee. Abe joined the pair until Kayla got called away. Abe told Lexie about the mayor's job offer. Abe's old friend, Scott, arrived. He told Scott he was no longer working as the police commissioner. Scott pulled Abe aside to talk. Meanwhile, Mark brought Theo back to Lexie and noted he was making progress. Chelsea arrived and gave Theo a snow globe from her trip. She and Lexie chatted before Chelsea headed off to visit Caroline. Abe listened to Scott's proposal that he run for mayor. Abe didn't think the time was right, but Scott said he'd finance Abe's campaign. When Lexie interrupted, Abe filled her in on Scott's suggestion.

Wednesday

Nicole pondered the miracle of her pregnancy while EJ arrived at Chez Rouge. He chatted with Maggie and then went over to Philip and asked him to deliver a message to Victor: He didn't have a prayer of getting back his divorce settlement from Nicole. Philip strongly disagreed. At another table, Melanie recalled Bo telling her not to leave town and listened as Maggie mentioned the Kiriakis table. Melanie remembered hearing what a powerful man Victor was. Philip met some business associates and dismissed EJ. As EJ left, he bumped into Nicole. She asked to speak to him and delivered her big news: she's pregnant! EJ beamed with delight. Too bad it was just a fantasy. Back to reality, Nicole prepared to deliver her news, but EJ's cell rang. It was a client canceling an appointment. EJ was eager to go to Johnny. Nicole said what she had to say could wait and they made plans for dinner. As they parted, Nicole told EJ to prepare for a big surprise. Melanie approached Philip's table. "I need your help, Victor," she announced. Philip explained Victor was his father. Melanie said she needed Victor to track down a killer and explained about Trent. Philip said neither he nor his dad were private eyes and left.

Lucas found Sami passed out on the floor at the mansion. She came to and Lucas insisted on taking her to a doctor. At the hospital, a doctor insisted on running some tests. Lucas tried to talk Sami into having them, admitting he never stopped caring about her. A nurse arrived and drew some blood. Alone, Sami asked Lucas about his relationship with Chloe, admitting she was a little jealous. She didn't think Chloe was right for him. Lucas felt the same way about Sami and EJ. Sami swore she and EJ weren't a couple. She wanted out of the DiMera mansion. Lucas promised to help her with the twins. Sami's doctor returned with her diagnosis: she's pregnant!

At the police station, Victor demanded Officer Chatsworth let him see Caroline. Kayla arrived and told Victor that Caroline didn't need his help. Victor assured he'd never do anything to hurt Caroline and left. Steve arrived and asked Kayla what Victor wanted. "My mother," retorted Kayla.

Bo visited Caroline in her cell. She professed her innocence, but told Bo she didn't want the cops looking at Max as a suspect. Bo told Caroline they'd continue looking for evidence. Caroline told him not to do anything stupid. Bo promised he wouldn't tamper with the evidence. Caroline urged Bo not to throw away his opportunity to become police commissioner and promised she'd get out of there. Chatsworth arrived with a visitor for Caroline: Victor. He told Caroline he couldn't stay away and asked about her attorney. Caroline said she was using Mickey. Victor wanted to put his attorney on the case. Caroline rejected the offer. Victor noted she was caught holding a knife that killed a man. That was a "slam dunk" to the DA. Caroline insisted she'd be out on bail in no time. Victor vowed to fix it so Caroline wouldn't spend another night in the slammer. She objected to any finagling. Victor said he never stopped caring for her and never would. Caroline implored Victor to let her handle this her way. Victor agreed not to do anything Caroline wouldn't approve of, but vowed to find Trent's killer.

Steve and Kayla continued discussing the murder and the suspects — Melanie, Max, Nicole.... Bo returned and Chatsworth handed him a report on the fiber found on Trent's body. Kayla expressed her fear Victor was using this situation to manipulate Caroline. Bo said their mother wouldn't let Victor get involved. Bo told Kayla the final lab report showed only Caroline's fingerprints on the knife. Bo got a call from the DA's office. He hung up and announced Caroline was going to be arraigned and charged with murder, as Victor listened in. Bo and Kayla went to deliver the news to Caroline: she'd be standing trial for murder.

Thursday

A stunned Sami received the news she was pregnant. "That can't be possible," she said. Lucas noted it was and he knew when it happened. The doctor left and Sami moaned about her condition. Lucas suggested calling EJ and telling him the news. Sami wasn't ready for that. Lucas pressed the issue. Sami fretted about Stefano and said she needed to process things before telling EJ. Lucas would hear none of it. He thought Sami was going to start scheming. Lucas vowed not to let Sami manipulate things like she did with Will. Lucas took out his cell and phoned EJ.

Philip received word Kate was in the hospital and raced there. Meanwhile, Kate and Daniel discussed her condition. Kate didn't want Daniel to call her family yet. Daniel said he'd cleared his schedule to be by Kate's side. Kate didn't want Daniel as her doctor. Daniel insisted he wasn't going anywhere. Kate brought up Daniel's cancer issues with his late wife. Still, Daniel insisted he was standing by her. Philip rushed in and asked what was going on. Kate noted she was having some tests. Philip demanded Daniel tell him the truth. Then, Lucas arrived and asked Kate why she was there. Lucas and Philip pushed and finally Kate admitted she was having a biopsy. She might have lung cancer.

Nicole arrived at the DiMera mansion and EJ filled her in on his trip to the zoo. Then, he asked what she had to tell him. Nicole wasn't ready to spill yet. While EJ went off to shower, Nicole waited in the living room. John entered, and Nicole shared she and EJ were about to have their first official date. John offered Nicole a drink, but she declined. John suspected something was up. After some sidestepping, Nicole whispered, "I'm pregnant." John suspected it was EJ's, and Nicole confirmed it. She said she didn't think she could have kids and never liked them, but hoped this would make EJ happy. EJ returned and told Nicole how much he was looking forward to their evening together...but it wasn't meant to be. EJ got a call from Lucas saying Sami was in the hospital, and he dashed off. Nicole couldn't believe EJ left her for Sami, again! EJ raced into Sami's room and asked what was wrong. Sami said it was no big deal, but EJ persisted.

Bo brought Caroline to Roman's office, where Mickey and Kayla were waiting. Caroline admitted she and Trent got into an argument the night he died. Max arrived and Kayla filled him on the latest. Caroline hugged Max, who felt guilty he went looking for his sister and got Caroline mixed up in this. "It's not your fault," assured Caroline, noting she was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Roman wondered if Trent was trying to tell Caroline who stabbed hi m when he staggered toward her. Kayla asked Max about Melanie. Max told her that Melanie accused him of killing their father. Max went off about Melanie hating Trent. Roman asked about Caroline's spat with Trent. Cue the flashback. In the pub, Trent taunted Caroline about following her life for years and knowing the Bradys had problems. Caroline defended her family and asked Trent to leave. He wouldn't. She tried to call the cops. Trent ripped the phone away from her. Caroline screamed at Trent to leave, picking up a knife and threatening to kill him. Finally, Trent left. Caroline admitted she had murder in her heart at that moment, but swore she didn't do it. Mickey returned after taking a call from the DA's office. It turned out there were witnesses who saw Caroline holding a knife on Trent. No matter, they all knew Caroline couldn't have murdered Trent. Roman said they had to find the real killer, fast!

Friday

John found Nicole alone and upset. She ranted about EJ never being able to love her or their baby. "Damn Sami to hell!" cursed Nicole, noting she didn't even get to tell EJ she was pregnant. He left the second he learned Sami was in the hospital. Nicole went on about how she'd been told she'd never be able to conceive. Now she was pregnant. It was a miracle. Nicole bemoaned what to do: tell EJ or not. John comforted Nicole, noting she'd rise to the occasion of motherhood and suggested they go celebrate at Chez Rouge. Later, at the restaurant, Nicole thanked John for being a friend. Suddenly, John dropped his head to the table and began convulsing. Nicole freaked. John didn't want to go to the hospital, claiming he was fine. John asked for Nicole's advice. What did he have to do to get his wife back? Nicole suggested telling Marlena he loved her. John noted Marlena wanted a divorce. Nicole offered to help John if he helped her with EJ.

At the hospital, Sami told EJ she'd fainted. EJ asked if they'd run tests and knew why. Sami dodged, asking where EJ had been. EJ noted he'd been having dinner with Nicole. A jealous Sami screamed for EJ to leave. He said he wouldn't be having dinner with any woman but her, if she wasn't so fickle. They bickered. Finally, Sami got EJ to leave. He returned to the mansion, where Stefano sensed his foul mood. "What has Samantha done now?" he asked. EJ rambled about Sami not having one good quality. She was coarse and cold. Stefano said that was why EJ was in love with her. EJ called their relationship self-destructive. Stefano brought up Johnny and how the tyke bonded EJ and Sami for life. They were meant to be together.

Kate told Lucas and Philip she was having a biopsy because there was a possibility she might have lung cancer. They were both supportive. Kate revealed Daniel was doing the biopsy. "No way in hell," snapped Philip. Kate insisted she wanted Daniel on her case. She promised to fight this — she had a lot to live for. Daniel returned and Philip gave him more attitude. Lucas told Philip to back off. Kate insisted she wanted Daniel to oversee her case. Philip calmed down and apologized. Daniel left to fetch Dr. Morris, while Kate hugged with her sons. The doctor returned and the procedure got underway as Daniel held Kate's hand.

Philip found Chloe at the pub. He told her about Kate, and she told him she was off to catch a flight — she was auditioning for a part in a production at The Kansas City Opera. Philip wished her luck, and they kissed goodbye. Morgan interrupted. Chloe reassured Morgan she and Philip weren't back together and left. Alone, Philip told Morgan about Chloe's gig and that they were friends. Morgan thought Chloe was a friend Philip was in love with. Philip couldn't deny it and apologized if he'd disappointed Morgan. Morgan had news, too. She'd accepted an internship in Chicago and was going to take it. The couple said their goodbyes. Philip promised to be there if Morgan needed him.

Lucas returned and Sami gave him an earful for calling EJ. She reported how EJ had been on date with Nicole and only came running because he thought she was dying. Sami thought EJ and Nicole were together making fun of her now. Lucas thought things would be different if Sami spilled her baby news. Sami had to think about it. Lucas suggested Sami stay with him instead of going back to the mansion. "We're not together any more," she noted. Plus, there was Chloe. Lucas said Chloe was off pursuing a job in Kansas City. Sami agreed to stay with Lucas for the night. Then, she'd figure out what to do about EJ and their baby.
