DAYS Week of September 21, 2009
Monday
Chloe insisted to Daniel that his mother tried to kill her. She worried that Kate would now try to kill Daniel. Chloe tried to get out of bed to find Daniel and help him but the nurse sedated her. "Daniel needs me," she said before passing out.
At the motel room, Kate panicked when she realized that Daniel had escaped. Stefano calmed her, then promised to take care of things. A housekeeper arrived. Stefano explained that he called a cleaning service to come in and wipe all traces of DNA and fingerprints. Lucas called Kate to fill her in on what Chloe said about her. Kate insisted it wasn't true.
In the park, Daniel collapsed from the pain in the back of his head. He finally arrived at the hospital, but a cop on the DiMera payroll called Stefano to report in. He tried to escort Daniel away when Lucas came out of Chloe room and clocked the doc, who passed out cold. Daniel was admitted.
Philip checked in with Brady about Chloe, then hung up when Roman arrived at the Kiriakis manse. Roman asked if Kate was home but Phil said she wasn't.
At the station, Maggie reported to Melanie and Nathan that the drug they gave Chloe saved her life. The duo was thrilled and hugged. Melanie asked if they could leave. Not yet, Maggie explained. The cop told Nathan that he was free to go, but Mel was not. Roman came in and said it was because of the charges against her in Europe. He said if she posted a guaranteed bond, she would be released. Nathan promised to get the funds. After he and Maggie left, Philip entered. Philip and Mel discussed saving Chloe. Phil still believed Daniel did it, but Mel said she didn't. Phil insisted his mother wasn't responsible. Melanie told him the best thing for him to do would be to walk away since all she brings is trouble. Philip promised he would stick by her, always. He left to pay her bail, then called Kate to warn her that Roman was looking for her.
At the house, Nathan came downstairs with some stuff, explaining to Maggie that he was going to go hock the items at a pawn shop. She reminded him that she said she would help pay the bond, but Nathan insisted he would do it. Maggie warned him about Melanie's infatuation with Philip because she didn't want him to get hurt. Nathan said he would be okay, then left with his belongings. He arrived at the jail to pay Mel's bond, but she told him Phil was going to take care of it. Roman gave a thrilled Mel papers that she had to sign to get out of there. Philip offered to take Melanie home, but Nathan said he would since they lived together. The men faced off. Nathan warned Phil not to mess with Mel's head. Philip asked Nathan if he was interested in Mel. He admitted he was. Melanie overheard.
Kate and Stefano returned to the DiMera manse, where he toasted to her continued freedom. He then presented her with a document, which aggravated her. She angrily told him that he won, but he warned her to watch her temper and treat him with respect. "And you will thank me for what I'm about to do for you," he said with a hint of menace in his voice. She thanked him and signed the papers. Lucas called his mom and revealed that he got arrested for punching Daniel.
Hope came home with Ciara, who ran into Bo's arms. Hope told her to go upstairs and pick out some toys and then she'd be up to help her pack. "Pack for what?" Bo asked. "We're leaving," Hope replied. She explained that Ciara's counselor told her that being in the house was having a detrimental effect on Ciara. Hope added that Doug and Julie offered their vacation house for them to stay in. Bo went to call the station, saying he had two weeks coming to him. Hope told him not to call, noting, "You're not coming with us." She said that the doctor sensed that Ciara was picking up on the tension between them. Bo was peeved that Hope was taking his daughter away. "You gambled with our daughter's life," Hope pointed out, which incensed Bo. "The only person to blame her is that son of a bitch, Dean," Bo growled. He then accused her of running away like she did after Zack died. Their argument continued. Justin came by during it. Noting the tension in the house, he offered to go, but Hope said she and Bo were "done" and invited Justin in. Bo revealed that Hope and Ciara were moving out, then asked if that's what Justin was doing there. Justin said he had no idea about Hope's plans. Bo smirked that he didn't believe him. Hope asked her husband to be more civil. Justin said he needed to speak to Hope. Bo got a cell phone call. He took it outside. Justin urged Hope to work things out with Bo. Hope insisted time away would help all of them. "Take it from somebody who knows. It won't," he whispered, then took off. Hope went to pack while Bo played cards with his daughter. He then said good-bye to Ciara. Bo and Hope hugged awkwardly, as Ciara's behest.
Chloe woke up and went to find Daniel. The nurse offered to take Chloe to him. He opened his eyes and saw her face and hoped it wasn't a dream. They shared a happy reunion.... At the station, Roman put Lucas in an interrogation room. Kate arrived and asked Lucas if he was okay. A smiling Stefano came in next. Lucas asked what he was doing there. Kate revealed that she was going to marry him.
Tuesday
En route to their belated honeymoon in France, EJ and Nicole toasted with champagne. They drank to honesty, which made Nicole uneasy. While on board, EJ told her he had a confession to make. He admitted that if she hadn't gotten pregnant, he wouldn't have married her. She asked why he was telling her now. He said it was because their relationship may have started off unconventionally, but it's the best thing that ever happened to him. He noted that Sydney brought them together. They kissed.
Brady and Victor sat together at the Brady Pub. Brady told his grandfather that he helped Daniel get the medication that saved Chloe. Victor said he should be commended for that. Brady pointed out that with Daniel off the hook, the blame shifted to Kate, which was sure to make Philip mad. Victor said he would talk to his son.
Philip escorted Melanie home because Nathan had to go back to work. Phil asked her what was going on with her and Nathan. She said she didn't know, but asked if he cared. He said no, what went on with her and Nate was none of his business. Melanie wondered if Philip was mad that she helped save Chloe because it made his mother look guilty. Phil said he wasn't mad, but couldn't understand why she believed Daniel. "That would be me," said Brady, who had just arrived. He explained that he asked Melanie and Nathan to help. "You son of a bitch," Phil snarled. The men faced off and Phil left in a huff. Melanie poured drinks for her and Brady, then smiled and revealed that Philip and Nathan were fighting over her.
Daniel took Chloe back to her hospital room. She asked him to stay with her. He promised never to leave. They kissed. A cop came in to talk to them on behalf of the D.A. Chloe insisted Daniel was innocent and Kate was guilty. The cop reported that Daniel was cleared of all charges. They were relieved. Lexie then entered and said Daniel was free to go. Chloe wasn't yet, and Daniel said he wouldn't leave without her. Father Matt visited, elated to see that Chloe had woken up. Chloe asked Daniel to give them a moment alone. She told the priest that she thought she had brought everything on by breaking her vow to Lucas. Father Matt assured her that wasn't the case. She was relieved. The priest left. Daniel came back in. Chloe told him things couldn't be better.
Lucas was reeling from the news that Kate was going to marry Stefano. "Are you out of your mind?" he exclaimed. Kate urged him to show his future stepfather some respect. "It's like the TWILIGHT ZONE calling him my future stepfather," Lucas noted, then asked what Kate was hiding. Before she could answer, Roman came in and revealed that Daniel was okay, so Lucas was free to go. Lucas left, telling his mother they would talk later. Before he left, he assured that when Philip and the rest of the family found out about the marriage, Stefano would be the only person Kate had left. Stefano exited next. Roman came in and told Kate that Daniel and Chloe's statements came in and they both think Kate poisoned Chloe. Kate pointed out there was no proof and took off.
At the DiMera mansion, Stefano told Lexie about his impending marriage. She exploded and reminded him that Kate tried to kill Chloe. Stefano said it was a baseless accusation. EJ called Lexie to check in on Stefano. Lexie told her brother that the Phoenix was fine physically, but not mentally. Stefano tried to cut her off, but she told EJ that Stefano was right there and could tell him what was going on. "No!" Stefano mouthed. Lexie covered that Stefano was going to take a drink, but she stopped him. EJ asked Lexie to keep an eye on their father. When Lexie hung up, she gave Stefano a stern look. He explained that he didn't want EJ to leave his honeymoon because he was concerned about Stef. Stefano asked Lexie to be there when he married Katherine. She reluctantly agreed.
Maggie ran into Victor, who shared the news that Daniel had been admitted.... Vic then went to Chloe's room and checked in on his godson. He asked what happened. "Kate happened," Chloe declared. Daniel told him what went on in the motel room. Victor freaked and vowed to make Kate pay.
Kate returned to her bedroom at the K manse to find it ransacked by the cops. She called her fianc to report in. Stefano assured her he had everything under control, then revealed that they would marry that night, or else he'd have to testify against her. He revealed he had put some dresses in her closet. While Kate was getting ready, Victor stormed into her room.
Maggie ran into Lucas in the park. He was still angry at her for keeping quiet about Chloe and Daniel's relationship. Philip came upon them and asked if everything was okay. "Not really," Maggie replied, then hurried off. Phil asked his brother if he had spoken to their mother. Yes, Lucas replied and told a thunderstruck Philip about Kate's upcoming nups.
Wednesday
Maggie arrives at Chez Rouge, only to discover it tricked out for a wedding. Stefano entered and told her he was waiting for flowers to arrive. Maggie sneezed. He revealed he was marrying Kate that evening. "No!" Maggie exclaimed. The Carvers arrived for the nuptials. A happy Stefano picked up Theo and took him to see the cake. Abe and Maggie wondered why Kate and Stefano were getting hitched. Roman showed up and reported to Abe that they found nothing in the motel room where Kate allegedly tortured Daniel. Stefano asked Roman to leave, but he said he was there on official business.
Philip completely lost it when Lucas revealed Stefano was marrying Kate, especially since the Phoenix tried to have him killed. Lucas urged his brother to try and stop Kate from going through with the nups.
A furious Victor confronted Kate in her room over what she did to Daniel. He threw her out of the house and told her he was cutting her off financially. She casually revealed it was okay because she was getting married. Victor wondered if the warden would be performing the ceremony, but Kate noted that she wasn't going to prison. They exchanged humorous barbs. Kate informed him that her groom was Stefano. Victor burst out laughing. She told him to stop. He said she would never go through with it because Philip would never forgive her. She insisted their son would understand. "Kate, we're not a family that understands," Victor warned. She cried that she didn't want to hurt Philip, but couldn't go to jail. He warned his ex that she would wind up alone.
Victor went to Chez Rouge and congratulated the groom. Stefano told him he could go. Victor said he wasn't going anywhere, adding he wouldn't miss the wedding for the world.
Kate (clad in a red wedding dress) left a message for Lucas, imploring him to come to the wedding. Philip walked in while she was leaving the message and demanded to know why she was marrying the man who tried to kill him. She admitted that Stefano was calling the shots and she had nothing to do with it. She broke down in tears. He urged her to tell the truth about what she did to Daniel. She said she couldn't. He said she could avoid prison and plead insanity, but she said she couldn't. He urged her to reconsider. Stefano called, asking where she was. She was about to call the wedding off when Stefano assured her that he had disposed of all the evidence from the motel room as long as he stayed with her. "I'll be right there," Kate whispered. A disappointed Philip told her to go to hell.
At the hospital, Daniel told Chloe that she was cleared to leave. She lamented that she had nowhere to go. "You are going to come home with me," he told her, promising that they'd be very happy. At his apartment later, Chloe seemed distracted. She admitted she was thinking about Lucas. Daniel couldn't understand why. She said the wedding vows she made to Lucas were important to her and they were still in place. Daniel said she was crazy, but that he was willing to wait for her. They kissed, then Daniel went to sleep on the couch.
Lucas went to the Cheatin' Heart and imagined Chloe and Daniel there, mocking him. He ordered a Scotch and asked the bartender to keep them coming. As Lucas got drunker, he imagined Maggie teasing him along with Chloe and Daniel.
Will worked on his laptop in Maggie's kitchen. Mia came in and asked if he was related to all of the people in the photos in Maggie's home. He said yes and that she'd need a scorecard to keep them all straight. She noted that her baby wouldn't have the same kind of family he had. She then said she was relieved he reacted the way he did to her baby news and said she never had anyone like him in her life. Chad came in and was dismayed to spy them kissing. Tad barged in and told them to get a room. The four were going to work on a project together for a class that required them to carry around an egg to see what parenting was like. Mia was rattled. Will asked if she was okay. Chad made some callous remarks about parenting, then apologized to Will because of Grace. There was tension between Chad and Will. A drunken Lucas came in and interrupted the study session. Will went to leave. Lucas went after him and passed out on the floor. Will introduced Lucas as his father to Chad and Tad.
Thursday
Melanie was leaving a message when she ran into Philip on the docks. She told him she was suing the Salem PD for treating her "like a terrorist." He told her about Kate's marriage to Stefano. She laughed, imaging the "family" at Christmas. He said it wasn't funny. She urged him to try again to stop it.
Kate arrived at Chez Rouge. Maggie had some choice words for her, but Stefano chastised her for mouthing off to his future bride. Victor offered to give Kate away. "There's nothing I'd rather do than hand you over to him," Vic said merrily. Stefano asked Abe and Lexie to stand up for him. They were reluctant, but then agreed. Victor walked his ex down the aisle, then told Stefano that he was getting "one in a million." The ceremony began. Philip arrived in time to hear a weepy Kate recite her vows to the Phoenix. Stefano poured champagne for everyone, except for Theo, who then got upset and spilled Kate's all over her dress. She was very gracious and lovely with the boy. After, she and Stefano returned to the DiMera mansion to find champagne waiting. He assured her they would be very happy together and they toasted to the future.
Will wanted to leave his drunken father on the floor of Maggie's kitchen, but Chad said they couldn't. Lucas came to, calling for his son. He reported in about Kate's impending nups then suggested they have a drink to celebrate. He called Mia by the wrong name and basically embarrassed himself — and Will. He asked Chad and Tad who they were. Friends of Will, the teens replied. Will called Maggie and told her Lucas had been drinking. Lucas passed out and was rushed to the hospital. Maggie arrived and asked Will how Lucas was. Will revealed that they had to pump his father's stomach. Will went in and sat with Lucas and held his hand.... Back at Maggie's, Chad told Mia he knew she was lying about being in rehab and hoped someday she could trust him.
Arianna was vexed that she couldn't meet the big drug boss and threatened to pull her business from Troy. She hung up the phone, then ran into Brady. It was awkward. They went inside the Pub. He assured her that he had a business meeting and wasn't there to see her. He asked when her "unboring" boyfriend was coming to town. She revealed he wasn't. He told her it was all a smoke screen and she should have been truthful with him from the start.
Sami arrived home, unaware that Meredith was inside and had knocked out Rafe. While Sami fumbled for her keys, Meredith pulled Rafe into a corridor inside the townhouse. Sami called Rafe, but he didn't respond. She headed out to talk to Ari about his whereabouts. She arrived at the Brady Pub and saw Brady. She admitted she was worried about Rafe. The sibs discussed their bad luck with the Hernandez sibs.
Meredith transported Rafe to a secret location and tied him up. His cell phone rang; it was Sami. Meredith promised Sami would never talk to him again.
Friday
Lucas woke up in he hospital, alarmed. Nurse Maxine told him what happened. Outside his room, Will told Maggie he would never forgive Chloe for cheating on his father. Maggie pointed out that Lucas was responsible for his own drinking. She then told him about Kate and Stefano's marriage. Will was stunned. "Were they even dating?" he asked. Maxine told the duo that Lucas was awake. Will and Maggie went into his room. Lucas apologized to his son and promised him he would never do it again. Maggie pointed out that Lucas couldn't make that promise. Lucas got angry and told her he didn't want to listen to her. Sami came in and angrily told Lucas he would listen to her. She asked Will and Maggie to leave. Sami threatened to take Allie away from her ex if he didn't stop his downward spiral. She told him he had to check himself into rehab. He refused, so she reasoned with him, explaining he needed professional help. He ultimately agreed. He asked Sami to fetch Will and Maggie; Lucas apologized to them again. Will hugged him. Sami dropped the bomb that the rehab facility was outside of Salem. A concerned Lucas asked to speak to Sami alone. Lucas told her she would have to keep an eye on Will and Allie and not go "hang out with your nuns whenever you feel like it." She said she wouldn't. The subject of Mia came up. Lucas revealed that Mia was an addict and that he had promised Will he wouldn't tell her.
Kate fantasized about waking up next to Daniel and kissing him, then got up to find herself in Stefano's bed. Philip came to the mansion to tell his mother that Lucas tried to kill himself the night before because of her. While they were arguing, Stefano came upon them and asked what happened. Kate said she had to get to the hospital. Stefano offered to come with her, but she said it would make things worse. She hurried to change; Phil faced off with the Phoenix. After, he headed to the hospital to check on his brother.
En route to the hospital, Kate ran into Daniel on the pier. He saw her wedding ring. She told him she married Stefano. "You're even more psycho than I thought," Daniel chuckled. She warned him not to be careful because he husband would do anything for her.... Chloe went to the hospital to see Lucas. Will told her to beat it. Sami came out and said that Lucas wanted to talk to his wife. Chloe entered his room and apologized for not being honest with him. He apologized to her, too, for the horrible things he said to her and Daniel. He asked for forgiveness; she gave it. He said he would work on forgiving her. She left, then met up with Daniel in the park. He got down on one knee, took out a ring and made a romantic proposal to her.
Kate arrived at the hospital and overheard a conversation between Philip and Lucas about her. An angry Lucas told his brother that their mother was "dead to me." She was upset and scurried off before anyone saw her. Maggie and Will came to take Lucas to the rehab center. An unseen Kate watched them go.
In Paris, EJ and Nicole enjoyed their honeymoon. She donned a sexy nightie for him as a gift. "Come here, I'm going to unwrap you," he smiled. She told him she had never been happier. They had sex. The phone rang; it was Stefano. He told EJ that he had married Kate. EJ did not react well. Nicole came back in with champagne and asked what Stefano wanted. "You wouldn't believe me if I told you," he replied, then didn't reveal what it was.
Troy met up with Arianna at the Brady Pub. She insisted on meeting the top drug distributor, but Troy said the boss wasn't interested. Brady walked in while they were talking. Brady was picking up takeout, so Ari went to fetch it. While she was gone, Troy took off. Brady accused her of flirting with Troy. Like you did with Nicole? Ari countered. They began to argue, during which she slipped that she knew Brady helped Nicole lie to EJ. He was spooked, then asked what she knew. She confessed she knew Nic had a miscarriage. She asked if the baby was his. He was confused, then told her she couldn't say anything to anyone.... Ari went to Sami's apartment and asked if Sami knew where Rafe was.... Brady called Nicole's cell phone. Nic was doing her hair, so EJ picked up. Before EJ said hello, Brady could hear static but said, "Nicole, get to someplace where there's better reception... The secret is out!"
