Monday
Roman arrived at Arianna's hotel, hoping she changed her
mind about quitting her assignment. She hadn't. Roman was annoyed, since Arianna was closing in on the guy that runs a drug ring in town. Arianna said she'd fallen in love with Brady. He was a recovering addict, knew about drugs, and would figure things out. She also didn't want Brady finding out about her past. Roman told Arianna if she dropped out now, Brady would find out. Arianna got angry. Roman wasn't fazed, noting they were in "the home stretch." Brady ran into Mary and Sydney in the park. He went to pick up Sydney. EJ arrived and ordered Brady to get his hands off the tyke. Mary left, and EJ and Brady got into it. "I can't believe Nicole risked ..." blurted out Brady. He stopped himself and left. EJ wondered what Brady was talking about.
At the Java Café, Rafe tried to figure out the Nicole/Grace connection. He made a call telling someone to meet him there. A nurse from the clinic showed up. Rafe told her Dr. Baker was dead and Nicole killed him. Rafe probed her about Nicole. Did she do something to make Grace sick? The nurse insisted she didn't and urged Rafe to let this go. It wasn't going to bring Grace back. Rafe muttered that she was wrong.
Nicole told Sami she had to call off Rafe. He was hounding her. She recounted how he dragged her to the convent. Sami defended Rafe, noting he helped her through the most difficult time of her life. Even though Rafe wasn't in her life, Nicole couldn't turn her against him. Nicole apologized; then, noted how volatile EJ had become since losing Grace. Later, Sami went to the convent and chatted with Sister Claire, who noted Rafe had been trying to reach Sister Theresa. The nun was worried about Rafe. She asked how Sami was and wondered if she could do anything for her. Sami said she needed answers and wondered if the nuns could help.
Brady ran into Nicole in the park and told her about his encounter with EJ. Nicole advised Brady to keep his distance from her husband. She admitted being afraid EJ would learn about the baby switch, hugged Brady, and left. Arianna watched; then approached Brady. Things were tense between them. Brady sensed something was wrong. "I don't need you to worry about me," retorted Arianna, noting she overheard Brady and Nicole's conversation and wondered what he did for her.
Nathan reported to Daniel and Melanie about the test results on Kate's gloves: no poison showed up on them. Daniel wanted Nathan to give Chloe another dose of the drug. Nathan was reluctant. Melanie offered to do it. Nathan said she couldn't, it would jeopardize her nursing career. Daniel and Nathan argued, when Daniel got a call. It was Justin, reporting the DA wanted to meet with them. Daniel told Nathan they had to move fast or Chloe would die. After Daniel left, Nathan told Melanie they had to do it. Later, Melanie approached the drug cart. After a run-in with Maxine, she entered Chloe's room and Nathan injected their comatose patient. Meanwhile, Daniel learned the DA's deal: accept a plea of no contest and he'd get a light sentence. Daniel refused the offer. The DA wondered if Daniel realized the consequences if Chloe died. Daniel pondered the consequences if Chloe awakened.
Stefano tried to chat with Kate at the pub. She blew him off, noting that trying to assassinate Philip didn't endear him to her. Stefano reminded her he'd buried his son. Kate admitted she was under lots of stress. He asked if it was because she was trying to fend off rumors about what really happened to Chloe. Kate said she didn't need his help. She had help. Stefano noted Victor was paying for Daniel's defense and told Kate she could always come to him if she needed. "Not in a million years," responded Kate. Stefano returned to the mansion, where EJ announced he'd changed his mind about honeymooning with Nicole. Stefano wondered if Nicole knew about his decision.
Rafe continued wondering why Nicole was at the clinic, when Nicole walked in and handed him a restraining order. "You come anywhere n ear me again and you'll end up in jail," she warned.
Tuesday
Sami told Sister Claire how worried she was about Rafe. He was treating Grace's death like another FBI case and searching for answers. Sami wondered if the answers might not be there at the convent and decided to stay. She called Will and told him she'd be away for a couple of days. Sister Claire noted that a good night's sleep would do Sami good. Later, Sami dreamt that Rafe was there, telling her he loved her.
Arianna questioned Brady about what he did for Nicole. Brady told her it was none of her business. "What if she's using you?" asked Arianna. Brady accused Arianna of wanting information for Rafe and stormed off. He turned up at the Java Café, where Mia was deciding to tell Will the truth about her pregnancy. Brady overheard her phone Will and ask him to meet her at Maggie's. Brady tried to get Mia to change her mind about 'fessing up. Mia wouldn't, but promised she wouldn't tell Will everything. Later, Will met Mia, who explained she never did drugs or was in rehab. She let people think that to explain why she left school. Mia confessed she was pregnant. Will realized Chad was the father. Mia said Chad didn't know and never could. Will asked what happened to her baby.
"Now I know I'm on the right track," announced Rafe, after Nicole handed him a restraining order. He vowed he wasn't going to stop, until he got to the truth. Nicole said she could have told EJ what was going on. Rafe knew she wouldn't, since she didn't want him knowing her secret. Nicole left, and Arianna walked in. Rafe explained how the clinic nurse told him there was no way Nicole could have hurt Grace and given her meningitis. Still, Rafe was suspicious. E.J. had two daughters born on the same day, and Nicole was at the clinic. Arianna informed Rafe about a secret Nicole has that Brady knows about. Rafe wanted Arianna to find out what it was. Arianna said she couldn't. They'd broken up.
Nicole returned to the mansion, speaking French. EJ dropped the bomb they weren't going to Paris. He explained that he knew all about her restraining order against Rafe and asked why she hadn't told him about it. Nicole hemmed and hawed; then, revealed how Rafe believed she had something to do with Grace's getting sick and worried EJ might believe him. EJ did a 180 and apologized, telling Nicole he loved her. Later, the couple were in bed when Nicole got up, checked her phone, and left. When Sydney awakened, EJ realized Nicole was gone. Nicole was in the park with Brady, asking why he'd text-ed her. Rafe hid and listened.
After Nathan injected Chloe with another dose of drugs, Lucas stormed in and demanded to know what was going on. Nathan said he was checking on Chloe. Lucas wanted to know why Melanie was there and went off about how she hurt people. Suddenly, Chloe flatlined, and Nathan went to work reviving her. Afterwards, Lexie reported to Lucas that the toxin levels in Chloe's body had been going down, but now were up. She must have gotten another dose of the drug. Lucas glared at Nathan and Melanie, saying he knew who gave it to her.
Daniel called Kate and told her the DA offered him a deal. "You deserve to know the terms. They involve you," he announced, coaxing Kate into meeting him at a hotel. Kate arrived and Daniel told her the DA's offer: if he pleaded "no contest," he'd receive shortened jail time. Kate brought up all the evidence. Daniel said there was too much and told Kate she overdid it with the prescription. He taunted Kate about Victor knowing what she did and about the D.A. discussing tainted gardening gloves. "You need to stop," spat Kate. Daniel swore he didn't want Kate to go down for this, noting he drove her to what she'd done. The cat and mouse game led to a kiss. Then, Daniel backed off and told Kate she was going prison, while he'd be walking away. Kate snarled about taking Chloe away from him. "She deserved it. You deserved it, and you can't prove a thing," sneered Kate. Daniel announced he had everything he needed and pulled a tiny recording device from his pocket.
Wednesday
Mia told Will she was pregnant and had a baby. When he asked what happened to the child, Mia said she gave the tyke up for adoption. She revealed the baby was a girl, and Will realized that's why Mia was so drawn to Grace, since she was adopted. Will wondered if Mia lied to him about anything else. When Mia sat there silently, Will got up and left. Moments later, there was a knock at the door. Mia answered it hoping it was Will, but it was Chad, who couldn't stop thinking about her. Chad asked what Mia was writing on her computer. Mia said it was none of his business. Chad left, and Mia returned to her writing. Tired of keeping all her secrets, part of Mia wanted to send her diary to everyone, while part of her wanted to delete it.
In the park, Brady told Nicole that Mia was considering telling Will she was pregnant. Rafe listened and heard them mention Mia and Sydney, but couldn't catch all the details. Nicole was a wreck. She said Mia couldn't do this and mentioned how EJ could never find out she had a miscarriage. Brady and Nicole split, and Rafe emerged wondering when Nicole had a miscarriage. Nicole arrived to see Mia, fuming that she couldn't tell Will she'd been pregnant. Mia said she already did, but didn't reveal where the baby was. Besides, Will promised not to tell anyone. Nicole peeked at Mia's computer, saw what she was writing, and flipped. Mia swore she was going to delete all of it and did. Nicole was still a wreck. She warned Mia if the truth came out, Sydney would be taken away from her and EJ and put into foster care.
EJ chatted with Sydney about Nicole going out for a walk and how she was probably still mad at him. EJ admitted treating Nicole badly and said he loved her. He wanted to say he was sorry again, so he prepared to take Sydney to the park to find Nicole. Later, EJ was at the Java Café with Sydney, since he couldn't find Nicole. Will walked in, and EJ asked what was wrong. Will explained he broke up with Mia, because she lied to him. Will wondered what EJ would do if Nicole told him a big lie. EJ gave it some thought, then, said Will should tell him what Mia lied about.
Lucas told Lexie he knew who administered the deadly drug to Chloe. Nathan and Melanie walked over, and Melanie took full blame. Nathan interrupted, admitting it was him. Lexie realized Daniel put him up to it and phoned the police. Melanie and Nathan discussed their predicament. Melanie wondered if they'd actually helped Daniel try to kill Chloe. Roman interrupted, asking if that was a confession and noting he was going to have to take them to the cop shop. A nurse summoned Lexie to Chloe's room.
Daniel played back some of Kate's confession from his mini recorder. Kate tried to grab it. Daniel yelled at Kate about what she'd done to Chloe. Kate yelled about Chloe betraying Lucas. Daniel called Kate a homicidal maniac and went on about how she tried to set him up for Chloe's poisoning. He mentioned giving Chloe an antidote dose of the drug. Kate sneered that it hadn't worked, since Chloe slipped back into a coma. Daniel said he knew. That's why he arranged for Chloe to get a larger dose. Daniel turned to leave to go to the police, when Kate whacked him over the head. Kate grabbed the confession tape and destroyed it. Later, Kate sat watching Daniel, who was gagged and tied to the bed.
Rafe was back at the pub asking the clinic nurse for more information. She said she told him everything and mentioned she was now working someplace new. Rafe showed her a photo of Nicole and said she had a miscarriage. The nurse insisted she'd never seen Nicole. Rafe pressed for more information about the clinic, noting how Dr. Baker was a gambler with lots of debts. The nurse claimed not to know a thing, but said if anyone wanted to do something shady, the clinic was the place for it. Finally, she took off, as Rafe pondered what was going on at Baker's clinic.
Thursday
Will told EJ that Mia lied to him, while Nicole was with Mia freaking out because she'd told Will she was pregnant. Nicole's phone rang and it was EJ, who said he was chatting with Will. He asked Nicole to join them at the Java Caf. A panicked Nicole hung up and shared the news with Mia, who assured her Will promised not to tell anyone about her pregnancy. Nicole left, vowing no one would ruin the life she built with EJ and Sydney. Maggie arrived home and found an upset Mia. Mia confessed she'd had a baby before she met Will and Maggie and gave it up for adoption. She told Will and now she's worried he'd never forgive her. Maggie consoled Mia. Then, she got a call and had to go: Melanie and Nathan had been arrested.
Nicole arrived at the Java Café, and Will left. EJ revealed Will was having trouble with Mia because she'd lied to him. Nicole wondered if EJ knew what Mia lied about, and insisted she wanted the two kids to be happy, like her and EJ. EJ swore he'd do anything to make Nicole happy. Nicole said she wanted to go away and never come back. Meanwhile, Will returned to see Mia. He apologized for walking out on her, swore he didn't divulge her secret to anyone, and vowed not to judge her again. Then, he showed Mia how he felt about her with a kiss.
Lexie, Roman and Lucas were by Chloe's bedside, when she miraculously woke up. "Why am I in the hospital?" she asked. Meanwhile, Roman had Nathan and Melanie taken away. Chloe sensed her hubby was upset. He admitted he was, because Chloe had lied to him and slept with Daniel. Lexie tried to calm him down. Chloe asked where Daniel was. Lucas went ballistic. Later, Roman questioned Chloe. Chloe insisted Daniel would never hurt her and admitted she was ashamed she hadn't told Lucas the truth about her and Daniel. Melanie and Nathan talked about bringing Chloe back to life. Melanie worried how all this would affect Nathan's career. Nathan said it meant a lot to him that Melanie tried to take the blame for what he'd done. Melanie was touched. The pair leaned in for a kiss, when Maggie interrupted. Nathan filled Maggie in on what he and Melanie had done. Roman thanked Chloe for clearing things up. Lucas returned and found his wife trying to leave. He asked if Chloe wanted to go to Daniel, the man who poisoned her. Chloe defended Daniel. Lucas asked if Chloe was still in love with Daniel. Chloe said she was.
Kate watched over Daniel, who was gagged and tied to the bed. He opened his eyes, saw Kate with a hypodermic needle in hand, and tried to yell. Kate taunted Daniel with the needle, then, took off his gag, since no one would be able to hear his screams. "Bitch!" seethed Daniel. Kate re-gagged him and prepared to give him an injection, when the phone rang. It was Lucas, revealing Chloe was awake and defending Daniel. Kate said she'd be right there, then, told Daniel the news. Daniel was relieved this was over. He promised to help Kate if she told the truth, and asked Kate to untie him. Instead, she gagged him again and left. Later, Kate showed up at someone's door asking for help.
Rafe informed Arianna that Nicole was keeping a secret: she had a miscarriage, although he didn't know when. He wondered if it might have happened around the time Grace died and if Brady was the father. Arianna said Rafe was off base. Rafe got a call from Sami, who told him she'd been dreaming about him. She explained she was at the convent and went on about how she wished Rafe had been there when Grace was born. She mentioned how scared she was when Dr. Baker took Grace away that night. Rafe was intrigued and started asking questions. Sami got upset and hung up. Sami talked to Sister Claire about Rafe and her dream of them being happy together. The nun assured her that if it was God's will, it would happen. Later, Rafe was in the park talking to Sarah, the clinic nurse, on his cell. Sarah finally revealed that Baker was buying and selling babies. Rafe started putting things together and realized Nicole took Sami's baby, Sydney, and gave Grace to Sami. "Sami's baby is Sydney!" he said.
Friday
"I want to go away and never come back" Nicole pleaded with EJ at the Java Café. "Let's go away ... tonight." Instead, EJ offered to take Nicole on a honeymoon trip to France. First stop, Paris, smiled a happy Nicole. EJ got on the phone and made arrangements to fly to Europe that night. When they got home, as EJ went to share the plan with Stefano, Nic confided to Sydney, "What your daddy doesn't know is, we're never coming back!"
Determined to prove that Sydney was Sami's baby, Rafe met a former FBI pal at Brady Pub and asked about getting DNA samples under the radar. Hair follicles or saliva on a glass would work, his friend advised him. Gazing at a picture of Sami, Rafe regretted not being there when her baby was born. "If I'd been there, none of this would have ever happened," he said to himself. Then he called Sister Claire, who said Sami was in seclusion. Tell her Rafe called and it's very important, he instructed. Sami wrestled with whether or not to return the call.
Rafe left the Pub to go to Sami's place, and grabbed items to use for DNA samples. He was interrupted by Meredith, who apologized for breaking up Rafe and Sami. Not necessary, said Rafe — they all had to move on with their lives. "I can't do that," said Meredith. Rafe tried to get rid of an unhinged Meredith, but she refused to leave until she got "closure." "I didn't kill Emily. It was an accident," said a frustrated Rafe. He turned to take a phone call from Sami, and Meredith whacked him over the head!
In the hospital, Chloe insisted to Lucas that Daniel wouldn't try to kill her. "He loves me, and I love him," said Chloe, then apologized for hurting Lucas. She and Daniel had their affair before she and Lucas were married, explained Chloe, then revealed her promise to God after the explosion: she'd give up Daniel if God would save Lucas's life. And she's been faithful ever since, finished Chloe. What really burns him is how delusional Chloe is about Daniel, spat Lucas. Suddenly, Chloe had flashbacks of Kate giving her food. Every time she ate something Kate gave her, she got sick, realized Chloe. His mother wouldn't go that far, argued Lucas. Then it hit Chloe that Daniel hadn't been to see her since she'd woken up. "What if Kate got to him too?" she panicked. Lucas would have none of her "dumb fantasies." When the police arrest Daniel again, he'd go to jail because of the evidence against
him, said Lucas, including the call Chloe made to Maggie saying Daniel was trying to hurt her. "That never happened!" cried Chloe. Frantic that Kate could be harming Daniel, Chloe tried to get out of bed. "Lucas, your mother's going to kill him!" yelled Chloe. Meanwhile, a groggy Daniel screamed for help as he struggled to get out of the ropes tying him to the motel bed. He got one arm free, and started loosening the knot on the other...
Kate went to Stefano for help covering her crimes. "You're my only hope," Kate pleaded. Accepting a double scotch, Kate reluctantly agreed to a game of chess with DiMera. As they played, Stefano told his startled guest he had thought she'd get away with poisoning Chloe and framing Daniel. "Now that Chloe's awake, she can say things you don't want heard," pointed out Stefano. Kate grew impatient with the game-playing. Time was running out for her — was Stefano going to help? He would, said Stefano, but there was a non-negotiable price. Kate agreed to whatever his terms were, and he chuckled over the fact that in their chess match, he'd just captured the queen. As an agitated Kate waited to hear just what deal she'd made with the devil, Stefano won the game. They headed to the room where she was holding Daniel, and found him gone! It could be too late for Stefano to help her now, wailed a frantic Kate.
