DAYS Week of October 5, 2009
Monday
In a room that looked Moroccan, Carly Manning stabbed her husband Lawrence Alamain. He fell to the ground with blood on his hands while she stared at the knife. She wiped her prints from it, then broke into a locked desk drawer and retrieved her passport and papers. She took her luggage, headed out and boarded a plane to Salem, leaving Lawrence's lifeless body behind.
Sami approached Maggie at Chez Rouge and asked if she had any job openings. Kate and Stefano came upon them and overheard Sami's request. Kate threatened to never eat there again if that happened. Maggie said she wished she had something to give to Sami but didn't. After, she reluctantly seated the DiMeras. Stefano ordered a meal that was anything but diabetes friendly. Kate cautioned him about his choices.
Mia and Brady met up on the pier and discussed the Sydney secret coming out. She admitted she told Will —who told Sami. Maggie and Chad know, too, she added, then quickly explained that she didn't tell them everything, just that Nicole adopted her baby. She revealed she had to reunite with Chad to keep him quiet. Brady took off. Chad came upon Mia and noticed she was upset. He correctly guessed it was about Will. She told him she needed some time to get over Will. They fought. He said he was going to look for their baby. She cried that she couldn't see a baby in the mall without getting upset and that everything in her life had changed. While Chad was hugging and comforting her, Will walked up. Mia asked Chad to give them a minute alone. He left, but not before kissing her before he did. Once alone, Mia lied to Will that she still had feelings for Chad and then said that she wished things could have been different.
At the DiMera mansion, EJ grilled Nicole about her miscarriage until she finally confessed that yes, she lied. He was furious and demanded every detail. She cried that she miscarried their baby, but insisted Sydney was still theirs because they loved her and raised her. He lashed out at her, reminded of the things she said to him to cover up that she had lost the baby. She insisted she did it all for him. "You did it for everything but me," he yelled. He asked who the baby's bio parents were, but Nicole didn't answer.
Justin and Bo talked at the Brady Pub. A contrite Bo thanked Justin for trying to talk Hope into staying in town. Bo said he would probably need a domestic lawyer, but Justin pointed out that it wasn't his area of expertise. Bo explained that he wasn't seeking a legal separation, but wanted to ensure that Hope didn't make decisions about Ciara without him.
Chloe went to the hospital for a checkup and told Daniel she got a clean bill of health. After, she ran into Philip. He admitted everything was awkward and apologized for Kate trying to kill her. She asked about Lucas. He handed her an envelope, which contained annulment papers. He spied her engagement ring from Daniel and told her about his mother's marriage to Stefano. Phil added that his mother was no longer in his life. He took off. Daniel spied Chloe with the paperwork; she admitted she still felt guilty about hurting Lucas. He talked it out with her, noting that Lucas was doing the right thing by officially ending the marriage.
Philip arrived at Chez Rouge and spied his mother and stepfather. He didn't say hello.
Tuesday
EJ realized that Dr. Baker was responsible for aiding Nicole in her baby deception. As he put more of the pieces together, he got more furious. She tried to turn it around on him, but he wasn't having it. Nicole brought Sydney in and tried to get EJ to hold her. He wouldn't. Nicole made an impassioned plea, pointing out that he raised Sydney and she was still his. He gave the baby a kiss and said he was doing it "for the last time." Their fight continued. She insisted she loved him with all her heart and he was her life. She then dropped the bomb that he was Sydney's real father.
Sami returned to Chez Rouge to retrieve her sunglasses and ran into Philip. He thanked her for helping get Lucas into rehab. Philip approached Kate and Stefano's table and had some choice words for his mother and stepfather. Daniel and Chloe came in next and were all lovey dovey. He ordered champagne, then gave her a key to his apartment and it was engraved. Kate wanted to leave. She got up to head to the car; Stefano collapsed. Daniel shot into action and called for an ambulance. He performed CPR and got a heartbeat back. Kate approached her hubby, but Daniel ordered her to stay away from him. Daniel went to the hospital with Stefano; he asked Chloe to alert the family. After Dan left with the EMTs, Chloe and Maggie gave Kate the stink eye. They subtly implied that she was to blame for his condition.
Sami visited Grace's grave and told her that Allie and Johnny were coming home. Will came upon her. He revealed that he visited once a week, which made her happy. They then talked about Mia and Rafe dumping both of them and left to go greet the twins.
Bo talked to Justin about Hope. Justin assured him they would work things out. The subject changed to Justin's personal life. He revealed that he and Adrienne were going through a hard time themselves.
On a plane to Salem, Carly recalled the events leading up to killing Lawrence, which was a fight about her leaving him. She also had a flashback to when they first decided to spend their lives together, back in 1993. She then had a dream about Bo and was startled awake when the plane jolted. She picked up the phone and dialed information from the plane for a phone number in Salem. She called Bo's cell phone but he couldn't hear her. The plane hit more turbulence. Bo told Justin that the call came from a plane and he thought he knew the voice. Justin asked if it was Hope, but Bo didn't think so.
A minion found Lawrence and declared him dead.
Wednesday
From the plane, Carly tried to get in touch with Bo, but couldn't. She decided to call Justin. His phone rang; he noted to Bo that it was from an in-flight phone. On board, the plane hit more turbulence. Carly flashed back to her fight with Lawrence before she killed him. The plane rocked; it appeared to be going down. Carly envisioned Lawrence sitting next to her. "You killed me Carly. And you will join me in death," he "said" to her.
Ciara called Bo and told her she missed him. Bo asked if they were on a trip. Ciara said no. She told him she loved him. He said it back and they hung up. Bo and Justin wondered who called them from the plane.
Daniel worked on Stefano in the hospital and had him tested for multiple poisons.
Sami was thrilled to be reunited with the twins but wondered why EJ hadn't checked in to see about Johnny.... At the DiMera mansion, EJ and Nicole continued their argument. She tried to tell him that Sydney truly was EJ's baby and that if Stefano were there, he would back up her claim. EJ was frustrated, not understanding what she meant. Before she could elaborate, Chloe rushed in and reported that Stefano was in the hospital. EJ split, but not before ordering Nicole to stay put. She broke down in tears and admitted to Chloe that she wasn't Syd's bio mom. She told Chloe about how she faked her pregnancy after her miscarriage. A stunned Chloe wondered how Nicole thought she would get away with it. A weepy Nicole said she had to be with EJ and wanted to leave for the hospital, but Chloe told her she couldn't go. Nicole insisted. Chloe tried to talk her out of it, but Nicole left and asked Chloe to look after Sydney. A little while later, the doorbell rang. It was Sami, who had Johnny in tow. Chloe told Sami about the situation with Stefano. She handed Sydney over to Sami and asked her to watch the baby for her because she had to leave.
At the hospital, Kate and Maggie faced off. Maggie suspected that Kate was responsible for Stefano's condition, but Kate insisted she wasn't. Maggie pointed out that Kate would never be above suspicion. EJ hurried in; Daniel revealed that Stefano had a heart attack, but was stable. Kate mentioned that if Stefano died, she would have controlling interest in DiMera Enterprises. Daniel got Stefano's test results back, so Kate left to talk to him. The doc told her that she was responsible for her husband's condition since she didn't try and curtail his bad food habits and help manage his diabetes. He accused her of wanting Stefano to die.
Nicole arrived at University. EJ was not happy at all to see her. He told her to go away before he had her thrown out. He added that she should go home and pack and take Sydney with her. "I never want to set eyes on you again," he said softly. She tried to talk to him, but he didn't want to hear it and told her to shut up. He chided himself for believing all of her lies.
Victor came in on Philip making plans for a hot air balloon ride. He asked if the lucky girl was Stephanie, but Phil said no. Vic deduced it was Melanie and they got into it about Philip's love life.
Melanie burned food in Maggie's kitchen. Nathan came home and joked that he should call the fire department. She thought they could salvage it, but he said that they should go out to dinner. They agreed to go to the Cheatin' Heart and were excited about their first date.
Thursday
At the hospital, EJ filled Lexie in about Nicole's deception. He also revealed that he had kicked Nicole and the baby out of the house. Lexie was horrified and reminded him that the baby did nothing wrong. He said it was too hard to continue to fall in love with a baby who could easily be taken from him because she was adopted illegally.
Sami had a tough time comforting a fussy, shrieking Sydney at the DiMera mansion. She called for one of the servants but he said he was off duty. She then phoned her grandmother for advice then headed out with the baby.
Nic visited Stefano, who was comatose. She vowed to fight for her family. When she came out of the Phoenix's room, she ran right into EJ. Sami then entered with Sydney. Nicole asked why Sami had the baby. Sami explained that she brought Johnny to the manse, as scheduled, and ran into Chloe, who had to leave. She asked what was going on with them. EJ told her about Stefano. Sami tried to hand Sydney to him but he said it would be best for the baby to be with Nicole.
Stephanie went to Maggie's house to get some information about a fundraiser. Nathan gave her an envelope from Maggie. She said it smelled like something was burning. He told her that Mel burned the meat loaf. They discussed the fundraiser. She asked where Mel was. At the hospital, Nate told her. Steph asked him if he wanted to take a hot air balloon ride that night. He told her he had plans with Mel. Awkward! Steph said she thought Phil and Mel were together, but Nathan said that was over.
Philip explained to Victor why he was interested in Melanie. After, Vic got a call that Stefano was in the hospital after having a heart attack. He seemed bemused. Philip ran out to be with Kate.
Melanie and Daniel chatted at the hospital. She told him she was going to the Cheatin' Heart. He told her to have fun. Kate slithered over and accused Mel of wanting to seduce Daniel like she did Philip. Melanie laughed at her. They exchanged barbs. Philip walked up just in time to hear Kate ask Melanie if she got paid for putting the sex tape with Phil on the Internet. Philip told his mom to shut up. He then got a phone call. Melanie slipped out. Phil asked Dan if he knew where Melanie was going. The Cheatin' Heart, Daniel blabbed. Philip headed there and surprised Melanie, who was on her BlackBerry. He said he had to ask her something. Before he could, Nathan came back to the table with drinks for him and Melanie. Philip asked if they were on a date. Mel said they were and asked what Philip wanted to talk to her about. Before Philip could answer, Melanie spied Brady and rushed over to talk to him. He was looking for Nicole; Mel reported she was at the hospital. Back at the table, Phil and Nate squared off.
Steph went to the hospital and discussed her love life with Daniel. After, she met with Maggie at Chez Rouge and they talked about Nathan, too. Maggie asked what was going on. Nothing, Stephanie replied, because Nathan was out with Melanie. Mags seemed surprised.
Kate returned home and fixed a martini. Victor visited and joked that Kate couldn't "get the dosage right" and screwed up with Stefano like she did with Chloe. She was not amused, then revealed that with Stefano indisposed, she is his proxy at DiMera Enterprises.
Friday
Having tracked down Melanie at the Cheatin' Heart only to find her on a date with Nathan, a protective Philip took advantage of a chat Melanie was having with Brady to tell Nathan he didn't want Melanie getting hurt. Melanie deserved better than to serve as Philip's substitute for Stephanie, retorted Nathan. Melanie returned and asked if the guys were fighting over her. Before he could answer, Nathan had to take a call from the hospital. Nathan's dreamy ... but Philip's not bad himself, Melanie told Philip. "Nathan's a lucky guy," Philip told Melanie, then left her to her date. Didn't Nathan want to know what she and Philip were talking about when he was on the phone? asked Melanie. "You're here with me, that's all I need to know," Nathan replied. If he's trying to impress her, it's kind of working, smiled Melanie. After a fun date, they shared a sweet goodnight kiss.
At Chez Rouge, Stephanie confided to Maggie that she'd made a fool of herself asking Nathan to go for a hot-air balloon ride; he'd declined because he had a date with Melanie. But she couldn't blame Nathan, after the way she'd jerked Philip around for months. "That's not the way you treat someone you love," she admitted. If she loved Philip, why wasn't she with him? wondered Maggie. "Because loving him isn't enough," sighed Stephanie. While Maggie tended to an emergency in the kitchen, Philip showed up to grab a drink. Stephanie noticed something was bothering him. Philip didn't want to talk about it, so Stephanie suggested they have a drink, as friends. "I don't think we can be friends," said Philip. Maggie returned and Philip informed her that Melanie and Nathan were on a date... and seemed really happy. Maybe that's why he's in a bad mood, suggested Stephanie after Maggie left. It looks like Nathan and Melanie have moved on together without them, Philip noted sourly. He'd always love Stephanie, he added, but they'll never be right for each other.
Sami wanted to know what was going on between EJ and Nicole. "I really don't want to discuss Nicole with you," EJ snapped, then admitted Nicole had lied to him. Sami pressed EJ for details, and defended Nicole. "That's really rich coming from a woman who just a few months ago was telling me what a lying tramp she was," EJ noted bitterly. When Sami suggested Nicole had changed, EJ explained that not only was Sydney not his child, but Nicole had never even given birth. "I have done some crazy stuff in my life," said a stunned Sami, "but this, this takes the cake!" Is it all that different than what Sami did to him? asked EJ, pointing out that he'd had two daughters...and lost them both. EJ insisted Nicole and the baby were gone for good, even though the thought of losing Sydney was tearing him up inside. He wasn't just furious at Nicole, added EJ. Brady was in on it too, and he was going to find out exactly how. "I guess the only question left," said Sami, "is who are Sydney's real parents?" EJ said he had no idea, and demanded to see Johnny. Sami reluctantly complied. "At least I still have you," he told his boy.
A shattered Nicole informed Brady that EJ found out about her pretending to be pregnant, and getting a baby from Dr. Baker. Now he hated her, and threw her and Sydney out. Brady was sympathetic, but Nicole accused him of purposely slipping up to EJ on the phone about the "secret coming out." "Admit that you wanted this to happen!" she cried. He lied to protect her, argued Brady, adding that he was still there for her. Nicole said that even though she didn't give birth to Sydney, she feels like her baby in every way. EJ should feel the same way, noted Brady. "It's because he doesn't know," sighed Nicole. Doesn't know what? wondered Brady. He doesn't know how much he's going to miss Sydney, stammered Nicole, who then insisted EJ would get over his anger. After Brady left, Nicole cried, "Oh Sami, I am so sorry." Gazing at her baby she sighed, "I can't give you up...You're mine, and I'm never going to let you go."
