DAYS Week of November 9, 2009
Monday
Gus told Vivian that Carly was arrested and would soon be extradited. Vivian was delighted. She ordered Gus to pack her bags. She was heading to Salem to tend to Carly.
Bo arrived at Carly's jail cell. He said he'd been battling with Interpol about her extradition. Carly wondered who turned her in. Meanwhile, Hope hung up the phone and told Justin they had to get to the station. Hope and Justin raced in. Bo asked which of them turned Carly in. The pair insisted they didn't do it. Agent Cobb arrived. Bo said the moment Carly returned to her country, she'd be dead. Cobb planned to take her back anyway. Bo and Hope discussed the dismal state of their marriage; Bo noting that Carly was just collateral damage. Justin told Carly he'd help her, if she told him the whole truth. Bo told Hope that Carly was a good woman and he didn't want their problems signing her death warrant. The agent returned, noting he got the extradition order. Hope wanted to help. Bo suggested finding the person who ratted on Carly. "That would be me," announced Victor.
EJ found Rafe on the pier and was unpleasantly surprised to see him. Rafe revealed he and Sami had reconciled. EJ wondered if that was true; he just saw Sami and Arianna and neither mentioned it. Rafe warned EJ to stay away from his sister. EJ left and smirked, knowing Arianna was now dealing for him.
Caroline was surprised Arianna wanted to quit her job and asked Brady to change her mind. He refused. Caroline sensed trouble in paradise and left the couple to talk. Arianna thanked Brady for not saying anything to Caroline. Brady said he did it for Caroline and left. EJ arrived asking for Arianna. Caroline directed him upstairs. EJ listened outside Arianna's door as she left a message for Rafe and mentioned the DNA test.
Nicole was stunned to hear Rafe was back. Sami said he was working on a case that would change her future. Nicole asked for details. Sami swore she knew nothing. Nicole thought Rafe was going to ruin everything and convince Sami to kick her and Sydney to the curb. Sami assured that would never happen. A desperate Nicole brought up Rafe's former fianc. Sami didn't want to hear it. Nicole took Sydney and left, vowing to stop Rafe. Rafe returned, noting there was a delay with his case. He also mentioned running into EJ. Sami 'fessed up about spilling the beans that he was back in town to Nicole. Rafe flipped. Sami swore Nicole wouldn't say anything. She was her friend. "That is the last thing she is,” fumed Rafe, noting he was going to tell Sami the truth.
Nicole raced into the DiMera mansion, warning Stefano everything was falling apart. Rafe was back in town. EJ arrived, and Nicole hid on the terrace. EJ reported Rafe had returned and was back together with Sami. He also reported hearing Arianna leave a message about DNA tests and wondered what that meant. EJ left and Nicole returned. Stefano realized Rafe needed to be taken care of pronto!
At the hospital, Dr. Ryan emerged noting she had the results of Chloe's tests: Chloe had a two per cent chance of getting pregnant. Daniel tried to comfort Chloe, but she wanted to be alone. A young patient named Lily and her mother approached Daniel. She hugged Daniel, and he asked about her leg. Chloe watched the happy scene; then, approached Daniel. Chloe wanted to go home. Soon, the couple were in bed, talking. Chloe said she'd digested everything and realized she just wanted to share her life with Daniel. As long as they had each other everything, would be fine. They started kissing.
Victor found Brady sulking and realized he'd confronted Arianna about dealing drugs. He wanted to call Bo and have her arrested. Brady said there was no proof Arianna was a drug dealer. Victor fumed, calling Brady a fool. Arianna arrived, noting she tried to walk away but couldn't, because she loved Brady. Brady asked if she was willing to stop dealing drugs and go to the cops. "What if I told you I had a really good reason for what I've done and what if I tell you that reason right now?" asked Arianna.
Tuesday
Arianna explained why she was dealing drugs to Brady. She said she started when she was in college, got busted, and went to prison. Brady couldn't believe she was dealing again. Arianna revealed she was working undercover for the police, trying to shut down a major drug operation. Brady had questions. Arianna couldn't answer them and left. Brady followed; Arianna explained the undercover work was part of her deal for an early prison release. Brady asked why she didn't tell him sooner. Arianna wasn't supposed to tell anyone. It was supposed to be a simple job; find the guy running the operation and she'd be free and clear. But there was a hitch: she fell in love with Brady. Brady offered to talk to Bo and try to work something out. Arianna said that would break the terms of her release. Brady insisted Arianna needed help and he knew where to get it.
Victor arrived at the station and announced he turned Carly in. Bo accused Hope of telling Victor that Carly was in town. Victor swore Hope didn't — he'd figured it out himself and would do it again. Bo seethed. He found Cobbs and told him to back off. Then, he told Carly he was going to protect her. Justin had an idea. Soon, he returned, noting he stopped the extradition and was getting Carly out of jail. He cut a deal by getting her released into Bo's custody. "Forget it," said Carly, explaining she'd already caused enough trouble for Bo. Alone, Bo reminded Carly about the important reason she came to Salem and said she had to figure out if she wanted to give that up. Carly didn't. Hope chastised Victor for taking advantage of her. He reminded Hope that Carly was in her house sinking her teeth into Bo. Justin went to finish up Carly's paperwork. Victor stopped by to visit Carly and warned her that he wasn't going to let her destroy Bo's life. Bo shared the news about Carly being released into his custody with Hope. Justin and Hope left.
Uncomfortable with the thought of Stefano "dealing with Rafe," Nicole suggested paying Rafe off. Stefano said the matter was out of Nicole's hands and called Matteo, saying he had a problem that had to be dealt with tonight: Rafe. EJ entered and demanded to know what Stefano was planning. He was concerned what killing Rafe might do to Sami, reminding Stefano she was Johnny's mother. Stefano asked EJ to trust him. "Everything I do is for you," he noted. EJ made a call inquiring about the problem Matteo was taking care of and learned Matteo was on pier 27.
Rafe announced he was ready to tell Sami the truth about Sydney. Sami said she knew what it was, that Rafe found out Chad was her father. Rafe told her it wasn't Chad and went to phone Nicole. Rafe stopped her, noting this had nothing to do with Chad or Mia. Rafe started to tell her more, when Will walked in and went off on Rafe for abandoning Sami. Rafe got a call from Tim about the DNA results and had to leave. Sami wanted to go after him. Will exploded, and Sami realized Will was angry about more than this. He admitted he and Mia were finished.
Mia found Nicole at the pub leaving a message for Stefano that she was worried something was going to go wrong. Nicole tried to reassure Mia, but Mia wasn't convinced. She told Nicole how all of this had ruined her life. Both Will and Chad hated her and everyone at school thought she was a slut. Nicole promised Stefano would take care of things. Mia left and ran into Will, who laced into her about sleeping around. Sami arrived and found Nicole leaving a message for Chloe. She asked Nicole what was going on between her and Rafe. Nicole tried to leave, but Sami stopped her, insisting Nicole 'fess up.
Rafe stood on the pier. Tim arrived and handed him the DNA results. Alone, Rafe read them and announced he was right. "Sami is Sydney's mother," he said. Matteo phoned Stefano and reported he'd tracked down the problem. "Then rid me of it," retorted Stefano.
Wednesday
Rafe read the results of the DNA report. As aimed his gun and fired, EJ jumped him. Rafe hit the ground. EJ checked on Rafe and picked up the envelope. Rafe jumped up thinking EJ tried to kill him. EJ explained he saved Rafe's life and motioned toward Matteo, then asked if Rafe's paperwork was something someone would kill for. Roman arrived and wanted to know if EJ had any idea who might want to put a hit on Rafe. EJ suggested asking Matteo. After Matteo squealed that Stefano hired him, EJ phoned Stefano. Roman asked Rafe why Stefano wanted him dead. Rafe swore he didn't know. At the station, Roman led EJ into the interrogation room. Rafe asked if he could do this tomorrow; he had something to take care of with Sami.
Nathan handed Stephanie a bouquet of flowers at the nurses' station. He said the woman he performed the tracheotomy on sent them to him and the hought they'd look nice on Steph's desk. Melanie interrupted, noting she aced her midterm. Steph congratulated her and mentioned their problems of late. Now that Philip wasn't an issue, Steph thought they could work things out. She invited Melanie and Nathan to dinner. Nathan couldn't go, so Steph and Melanie headed out.
Brady volunteered to help Arianna find out who was the drug lord in Salem. Arianna was pleased Brady believed her and professed her love for him. He returned the sentiment and the pair celebrated by making love. Afterwards, Arianna said she wanted out of this nightmare, but didn't want Brady involved. Brady wouldn't be deterred. Arianna realized she had to finish packing. Brady remembered it was his fault she quit her gig at the pub. Arianna swore she didn't deal drugs there and explained how things worked. She told Brady all she wanted to do was find the head of the drug ring and get out of this mess.
Sami demanded Nicole tell her what was going on with her and Rafe. "Rafe said it's about Sydney," revealed Sami. Nicole admitted knowing what was going on. Rafe didn't want her and Sami to be friends and made up some secret about Sami and Sydney. Sami wasn't buying it. She pressed Nicole to tell her the truth. Nicole mentioned waiting until Rafe got back, if he got back, noting Rafe had left Sami before. Sami said that was her fault; she ruined every relationship she had. Nicole swore this wasn't Sami's fault. Sami was the victim. Nicole ran off. Sami chased down Nicole and apologized for upsetting her. She didn't want to lose their friendship. Nicole said she wasn't Sami's friend. Sami's phone rang. It was Rafe. He told her what happened on the pier and asked her to come home. When Sami hung up, Nicole was gone.
Stefano made a call and asked if it was done. Kate walked in and asked who he was talking to. Stefano reminded her not to interfere with his business. Kate said she noticed Stefano was perspiring and was worried about his health. Stefano was touched. He got a call from EJ, noting Matteo didn't eliminate Rafe and ratted Stefano out. EJ suggested Stefano leave town. Stefano started packing. He told Kate he had to leave Salem for a while and wanted her in charge of the house. Mary handed a sobbing Sydney to Kate, noting she had a family emergency and had to go. Chloe arrived, having been summoned by Nicole. Kate insisted Chloe take Sydney.
Philip sat at the Java Café and left a message for Melanie about their conversation earlier. Melanie and Steph walked in. Steph mentioned how well Melanie did on her midterms. Melanie noted that Nathan tutored her all night. Steph announced that she and Melanie were going to the pub. Philip wanted to join them, but Melanie said no. Philip left, and Steph asked what was going on. She suspected Melanie and Philip weren't over each other. Melanie admitted as much. Steph asked about Nathan. "That's the thing. I like them both," said Melanie. Philip left another message for Melanie, saying they belonged together and he wasn't going to stop chasing her. Nathan overheard and was annoyed.
Nicole returned to the DiMera mansion looking for Sydney. Harold said he had no idea where she was. Sami returned home to find Rafe. "Your baby is alive," he told her.
Thursday
Carly told Bo she didn't want to cause problems for him and Hope. Bo said he was dealing with his problems with Hope today. Later, Justin arrived to talk to Carly about her case. He said she could still be extradited at any moment. "I cannot leave Salem. Not until..." blurted out Carly. Justin asked her to explain. She wouldn't. Justin said he wished he could have brought Carly better news and left. Carly went to the computer, found something, and took off. Bo arrived at the Kiriakis mansion to apologize to Hope. He should have known that Hope didn't turn in Carly. Hope explained how she was picking Victor's brain about Carly, because Carly replaced her when she was gone. Hope asked if Carly was going to do that again. Bo assured Hope no one could replace her. Hope announced she wanted to come home. Bo wondered if this was about Hope keeping an eye on Carly.
Chloe sang to Sydney and wondered what was keeping Nicole. Chloe fell asleep, but Sydney sat on the bed awake. Daniel walked in, picked up the baby and left. Meanwhile at the DiMera mansion, Nicole asked Harold where Sydney was. Harold hadn't a clue. Nicole ran around yelling for Sydney. Finally, Harold told her Mary left Sydney with Kate. Harold promised to tell Nicole where Kate was, if she left the premises.
Roman questioned EJ about the hit on Rafe. He wondered why EJ saved Rafe and went against Stefano's wishes. A cop brought Kate into Roman's office. Roman wanted to know about Stefano's trip. Kate swore Stefano didn't check in with her before going off on business. Roman got called away and EJ asked Kate where Stefano was. Nicole stormed in demanding to know what Kate did with Sydney. Roman returned and led Kate off. Nicole asked EJ why he was there. He told her about Rafe's shooting on the pier and saving his life. Nicole wondered if Stefano took Sydney. Kate returned and told Nicole she gave Sydney to Chloe. Nicole left. Roman had EJ and Kate sign their statements; then, said they could go. On their way out, Kate surmised Stefano didn't leave town on business, noting he was livid EJ interrupted an activity he wanted completed. EJ said he was involved and staying involved.
Nicole called Chloe and asked where Sydney was. Chloe woke up and blurted out Sydney was gone. Nicole freaked. Turned out Sydney was safe and sound with Daniel at the park. Chloe realized Daniel took Sydney out. Nicole ordered Chloe to call him pronto. Daniel was now at the pub with Sydney. Nicole barged in, scolded Daniel, and went to grab Sydney. Daniel stopped her.
Rafe delivered the news he'd been waiting to tell Sami: "Your baby is still alive." Rafe said that Sydney was Sami's child, not Nicole's, and he had the DNA test to prove it. Grace wasn't Sami's baby. Sami erupted, insisting Grace was her child. Rafe said he wasn't suggesting anyone could replace Grace. Then, he gave all the details about Sami and Mia's babies being switched at the clinic. Sami didn't think any of this could be true. Nicole didn't even know she was pregnant. Rafe explained the tie in with Sister Theresa and how she led Nicole to Baker's clinic. Finally, Rafe handed Sami the DNA results and said it was time she took her baby back. Sami sobbed, blaming herself for not knowing Sydney was her child. Rafe noted the special connection Sami had with Sydney. Sami finally came to the realization that this was really true. "Let's go bring Sydney home,” she cried.
Maggie found Mia at the Java Café. Mia assumed Maggie wanted her to move out, now that the whole town knew she was a slut. Maggie noted that Mia had done some wrong things, but also a major right thing: giving up her baby. Mia went on about what a failure she was and that it was a good thing she didn't try to be a mother. Later, Carly ran into Mia on the pier. Carly approached her, noting it looked like Mia needed a friend.
Friday
Bo asked if Hope wanted to come home to rebuild their lives together or to keep an eye on Carly. "Both," said Hope, noting she wasn't comfortable having Bo's ex in their house. Bo assured Hope that Carly wasn't a threat. Hope confessed she didn't trust Carly, but realized she should be more compassionate toward her considering what she'd been through. She told Bo she was glad they were back together. After declaring their love, Hope suggested sharing the news with Ciara. Bo told Hope that coming home wasn't a good idea: Carly's life was in danger and it wouldn't be safe. Hope wanted to know the whole story. Bo couldn't tell her because it would compromise Carly's safety. "But it's okay to compromise our marriage?" asked Hope. Bo said he was sorry and left. Justin returned and Hope filled him in on the latest. Hope said she felt like a fool because her husband rejected her.
Bo returned to the police station. Caroline arrived, and noted that the situation with Carly had to end. Bo explained he was trying to save Carly's life. Caroline worried Bo was ruining his marriage in the process. Bo pointed out that Hope is the one who moved out. Now she wanted to move back home, but couldn't because of the threat to Carly. Caroline insisted Bo's family be his first priority and that he should prove it by asking Carly to leave. Bo couldn't — he had a legal obligation to have Carly stay at his home.
Carly approached a distraught Mia on the pier. Mia didn't know how to begin recounting all her troubles. Chad approached, noting Mia should start by revealing she's a lying whore. Carly ordered him to back off. Mia said that Chad had every right to be angry and surmised he got the DNA test results. Chad confirmed he did and he wasn't Sydney's father. He said he would have loved Sydney, which is more than he could say about Mia. "I love my baby, that's why I gave her away!" swore Mia. Chad left, Mia cried, and Carly comforted her. Carly asked about Mia's parents. Mia told her they weren't a part of her life. Carly asked if Mia knew the people who adopted her baby. Mia admitted she did and that the right woman was raising her child.
Nicole exploded when she found Daniel with Sydney and demanded he hand her over. Daniel refused. Nicole freaked out. Chloe arrived and begged Nicole to calm down. She gave Sydney to her. Chloe asked what else was going on. Nicole admitted she was worried Sydney's birth parents were going to take her away from her. Daniel walked over, and Nicole apologized. He kissed Chloe and left. Nicole went on about losing Sydney and how Chloe could help her. Nicole gave Sydney to Chloe. She asked her to take the baby to her apartment and not tell anyone. Nicole's plan was to leave town with the tyke. Chloe returned home. Daniel phoned, so Chloe filled him in on Nicole's problems and said Sydney was with her.
Sami wanted go call Nicole and confront her about Sydney. Rafe stopped her. Sami realized Nicole could try to leave the country with Sydney. Rafe said they needed to figure out a plan. Rafe and Sami arrived at the DiMera mansion. Sami said she was there to take Sydney back to her place for Nicole. Mary went to fetch her. Mary returned, noting Sydney wasn't there. She said the baby might be with Kate. Rafe thought Nicole might have picked up Sydney. He vowed to track her down and told Sami to go to the pub. Rafe went to the hospital and inquired about Sydney being in the daycare center. Daniel interrupted and asked why Rafe was looking for her.
Sami found Chad at the pub. He laced into her about being happy he wasn't Sydney's father, since it meant Nicole could keep Sydney. Sami tried to make a call, but her cell phone battery was dead. Chloe tended to Sydney, when Rafe suddenly burst into her apartment. "Give me that baby!" he demanded. Nicole returned to Sami's townhouse and searched for the money her duped friend gave her to leave Salem. She found the envelope full of cash, daydreamed about the new life she was about to start, and headed out the door. Just then, Nicole came face to face with Sami.
