Days Of Our Lives Recaps

DAYS Week of November 3, 2008

Monday

At the hospital, Philip had a sweaty daydream where he was sleeping with Melanie. Daniel approached and asked if he was okay. Philip said he was fine, just distracted because of Kate. Phil went into see his mother, who was a little out of it. They had a heart to heart. She said he had to accept the possibility that she could die, but he refused. Philip left when Kate fell asleep; Daniel came in. Kate woke up and asked how the treatment was going. Daniel said she was responding well, but had received a high dose of chemo and needed to be monitored. Kate thanked him for helping her. Daniel left Kate's room to find Philip, who had forgotten his cell phone. Philip admitted that he caught part of their conversation and said he wouldn't get involved if Kate and Daniel embarked on a romantic relationship once she was healed. "Just save her," Philip whispered, then took off. Daniel went back inside and urged Kate to fight.

Nick moved Melanie into Maggie and Mickey's house. She was grateful. He explained that his aunt and uncle were away for a couple of days. She awkwardly told him that she wanted them to be just friends and thought being anything more than that would be a mistake. Nick hid his disappointment. Chelsea came by, spied Mel and asked what she was doing there. "I live here," she replied. Nick chewed out Chelsea for barging in and was jerky to her, as was Melanie. He asked what she wanted. Chelsea said that she was trying to tell him something about her grandmother, but clearly he was busy. She had the Horton mail and gave it to him. Nick was psyched by a letter he received saying that his prototype got funding and that he and Melanie would be rich. An excited Melanie wanted to celebrate, but Nick felt a little weird, since Trent was directly involved with the project. Melanie asked to speak to Nick alone, so Chelsea excused herself. Melanie told Nick that talking about Trent didn't upset her, then got all flirty telling Nick how great he is. She hugged him. After, she said since he did most of the work, he should get all the money. He insisted on giving some to her. She then did a 180 and intimated that maybe someday they'd be more than friends. Nick kissed her; Chelsea burst back into the room and asked for a moment alone with Nick. Melanie went to unpack. Chelsea lit into Nick, calling him a fool. Nick got angry and kicked Chelsea out. Melanie came back into the kitchen and acted all soft and flirty again, thanking Nick for everything. She left her purse on the table. He looked inside and saw the anonymous note she was sent, the recalled writing it himself.... Chelsea ran into Philip and told him she needed his help.

At the station, Bo and Hope brought Nicole an orange jumpsuit for her to change into. She was appalled and insisted that she didn't kill Trent. EJ came in with a court order, which called for a bail hearing, ASAP. He requested a moment alone with Nicole and asked her if she did it. Bo and Hope took her to to the bail hearing. EJ prepped her once inside and said he took care of things. Nicole pled not guilty. EJ asked that Nicole be discharged from state custody because she was pregnant. The D.A. said that Bo would give evidence why bail should be denied. The judge allowed it. Bo made an impassioned speech, citing Nicole's previous misdeeds and noting that she was a flight risk. EJ objected, to the ire of the judge, who issued a warning. Judge Fitzpatrick then revealed her decision, which denied Nicole bail. Nic broke down in tears while EJ consoled her. Back in Roman's office, Hope congratulated Bo, but he confessed that he wasn't convinced Nicole was guilty. Nicole was put in a cell and she demanded to know what EJ was going to do to get her out. She got weepy when EJ had to leave and admitted he had a lot of thinking to do. "Get some rest," he advised her and left. She had a sharp abdominal pain.

Rafael was dismayed to learn that he was assigned to Sami's case. He pointed out to her that the assignment was well below his level and he tried to get a transfer, to no avail. He made her look through a book of mug shots, but she didn't recognize anyone and wanted to go to bed. He said no and gave her 20 more books to look through. She was frustrated and got riled up and nauseated. He noted that she seemed a bit green and asked if something else was going on. She insisted there wasn't. She promised she would look at mug shot books in the morning. He left the room, but forgot his cell phone. She picked it up, but he caught her and took his phone back. She was determined to call Roman and put her coat on but he prevented her from escaping the safe house.

Tuesday

Nick sat alone rifling through Melanie's belongings, creepily fingering her lipstick and inhaling the scent of her perfume. Just then, Mel returned to the Horton residence and wanted to know why he was going through her purse. He said it was an accident. Later on, as Melanie looked at realty ads and thought to herself about how to spend Nick's money, he dropped by her room with a glass of milk and a snack. Then he questioned her about the threatening note that he found in her purse. Nick proclaimed that he feels very protective of her. He started talking about the night she passed out after the murder, but she wanted to know how he knew that. Nick claimed that Max told him, then went to his room down the hall.

Chelsea snapped at Philip when he compared her to Melanie. He suggested that she needs to butt out of Nick's affairs, but Chelsea didn't want to hear it. Uncle Phil made things even worse by bringing up Daniel, which she ordered him to drop. Finally, Chelsea calmed down and apologized. She asked how Philip was doing and he said that he can't stop thinking about Kate.

At the Cheatin' Heart, bartender Max offered Stephanie a drink, which got on her nerves and she started ranting that she was there for an ad intern meeting and not to pick up guys. Max regretted offering the drink, which prompted her to ask why Max is not doing more with his life. Max argued that he's a good bartender and is happy with what he's doing. He also told her that Melanie and Nick are now living together. After some more squabbling, Stephanie turned to leave and bumped into Philip. After some cozy chatter, a cocktail-fueled Steph stumbled into his arms, so Philip offered to take her home. Max and Chelsea watched as the two left together.... Also in the bar, Abe and Lexie hopefully discussed his chances of being elected mayor. A short time later, Stefano called Lexie's cell to demand that Abe not appoint Roman as police commissioner. Abe told Lexie that her father will have no influence over him.

At the DiMera mansion, Stefano and EJ discussed Nicole's imprisonment. When the Phoenix asked if she's guilty, EJ said he didn't know. In her cell, a panicked Nicole banged on her bars. When a guard responded, she sobbed that she's afraid she's losing her baby. He accused her of faking, then leered that she's a good actress — he's seen her porno films. She cried and begged for help. Finally, a doctor arrived and assured her that the cramping is normal. Before long, she was screaming again. Visiting hours be dammed, EJ charged in to the jail to see Nicole and demanded to know why her cell was empty. The guard informed EJ that she had "some pregnancy issues" and was taken to University Hospital. EJ called the hospital, but they reported that Nic wasn't there. The Brit turned on the guard and growled that he wanted to know where she is.

While Melanie tossed and turned in bed, Nick had a sort of MAD MEN-style fantasy of future domestic bliss with Melanie, who would cook for him and make out on countertops while wearing glammy retro makeup.

Wednesday

Daniel spied Chloe working out at the gym and helped her with her weight training. Chloe thanked him and noted that Kate was lucky to have him as a doctor. Philip came in at the tail end and chastised Daniel for taking a break from Kate's case. Chloe pulled Philip aside and told him he was being a jerk. He admitted that perhaps he overreacted and apologized to Dr. J. He then got a call and excused himself. Chloe approached Daniel and they bonded during a chat.

At the DiMera manse, Stefano proudly showed off his "I voted" pin. Tony was surprised his father could vote. Stefano reminded him that he wasn't a felon. They discussed the mayoral election. Tony asked Stefano if he was involved in Marino's untimely demise. The Phoenix insisted he wasn't, then added that Abe turned Lexie against him and he would never help his son-in-law. "Even an idiot knows I draw the line at murder," he exclaimed.

Mayor hopeful Abe saw the decorations at the Brady Pub and worried it was too much. Lexie assured him it was okay. "My opponent was murdered; this shouldn't be a party," he pointed out. Abe then confided that he was haunted by Marino's death and didn't deserve to die. Lexie admitted that she had gone to see Stefano about Marino, and the mayor was suddenly dead later that day. Abe asked why she didn't tell him sooner. She said she was too scared. Roman came in and noted the Carvers anxious faces. He asked if everything was okay, but Abe said no and filled Roman in. They decided to question DiMera and headed out. Tony arrived at the Pub and said that his sister didn't look very cheerful for the future first lady of Salem. She revealed that she told Abe everything about the mayor's death.

Roman and Abe arrived Chez DiMera, where Stefano congratulated Abe on the predictions of victory. They asked him about Marino, but Stef said he didn't do it. Then he hypothetically talked about what would have happened if Lexie had mentioned Abe's dreams and it prompted Stefano into action. Abe was incensed by his father-in-law's intimation. "You know damn well Lexie didn't ask you to kill anyone," Abe barked, then asked Stefano point-blank if he put a hit out on the mayor. "I would be direct, but my gut tells me you don't really want me to answer that question," he replied. Roman warned DiMera that he was going down.

Bo and Hope discussed the election at the station. He brought her a beverage, which prompted her to ask if he'll still do that when he's her superior. ‘I doubt it," he quipped. "I plan to be impossible." She suggested they go home to change before heading to the Pub, so Bo would be dressed appropriately when Abe named him Salem's new commish. After, they headed to the Pub. Abe and Roman returned. Lexie apologized to her husband for involving Stefano in their lives. Abe told her there was nothing to forgive and that Stefano didn't admit anything. Lexie fretted that it was her fault, but Abe said the blood was on his hands. The Bradys came in and reported that the election results were in and they should hear something soon. Roman teased Bo for wearing a suit and tie ("Did Ma dress you?" he kidded), but Hope told her husband to ignore his older brother. Evan, Abe's campaign manager, announced that it was early to call, but that Abe had won by a landslide. At the mansion, Abe toasted to his son-in-law's photo, noting that he had indeed backed the right man.

In her new bedroom at Maggie and Mickey's house, Melanie had nightmares about Trent. Nick watched over her, then left the room and lurked in the hallway. She came down to the kitchen, right after Nick took some pain pills. She told him she was tossing and turning over the anonymous note she received. He vowed to protect her. He checked his email and found one from his faculty liaison at Salem U, who offered to look into the licensing of the fuel project. Nick told Melanie that they were going to be filthy rich. Melanie was ecstatic and surprised him by baking a cake. Philip came by to discuss the fuel project and said he feared it would never see the light of day.

Thursday

Philip explained to Melanie and Nick that on behalf of the foundation, he was rescinding the approval for Nick to license his project and warned that it might be a while before he saw any money from it. An irate Melanie demanded to know what happened. Philip said that it was not in Titan's best interest at the moment. Mel accused him of turning Nick down because of Chelsea. Philip insisted Chelsea had nothing to do with it, but Melanie was suspicious. Philip advised Nick to fine-tune the data and left. Nick assured Melanie that he was going to get it right and approved and headed out to take a fresh look at everything. Melanie was peeved. When Nick left, Philip returned to talk to Melanie. He told her that he was wise to the real her and hoped Nick would see it soon, too. Phil added that Chelsea suspected that Melanie was after Nick's money, but Mel said it wasn't true. Their heated discussion bordered on flirtatious.

Nick went to see Max at the Cheatin' Heart and told him what happened with the fuel project. He asked Max for help with the new calculations. Max agreed, which thrilled Nick. Nick revealed that it would also help Melanie, who would get Trent's share of the profits. Max was immediately suspicious and wondered if Melanie manipulated Nick to get the money. Nick said she didn't, then declared that he was in love with Max's sis. Max scoffed that Nick barely knew her. "She's my sister and I even know that Melanie is trouble," Max noted.

An angry EJ tried to track down Nicole. Nicole, meanwhile, was having severe abdominal pains and was taken to the prison doctor. She was not pleased, and asked to see a "real" doctor. That didn't go over well with the nurse on duty and Nicole was put in a bed next to some other inmates. The women freaked Nicole out, so she asked the nurse for a screen for privacy. The nurse laughed at her and walked out. The inmates wouldn't leave her alone, so Nicole asked to be returned to her cell, claming she felt fine. The nurse said she should wait for the doctor.

Bo and Hope congratulated Abe on his appointment as mayor. Tony sidled up to Roman and suggested that Stefano had something to do with Abe's win. EJ came in and told Bo that he was worried about Nicole, who was missing. Bo excused himself, made a call and learned that Nic was in the prison hospital ward and reported to EJ. Abe made his acceptance speech. Bo returned and told Hope what happened with EJ, while Abe and Roman discussed Stefano and their plans to bring him down. After, Abe officially asked Bo to be the new police commissioner. Bo accepted the honor.

In the prison ward, the inmates began to attack Nicole. She begged them to stop since she was pregnant. EJ tracked her down, but the nurse wouldn't let him inside. He made a call, then stalked off. Inside, Nicole screamed. The nurse ran in with cops, who handcuffed the other inmates. EJ returned with a court order saying he could take Nicole off the premises immediately. He brought her back to her cell and told him how much the baby meant to him. She admitted that she hoped he was there because of her. He assured her that he was there for both of them.

Friday

Melanie and Philip continued their flirtatious arguing, though Melanie accused him of acting like Trent. After some more banter, she took off.

At the Cheatin' Heart, Nick was confused by Max's reaction to his declaration of love for Melanie. "My sister and you? It's not going to work, man," Max sighed, then added that Melanie was trouble. Nick didn't understand why Max was so reluctant, but Max explained that was trying to protect his pal. Nick insisted he didn't need protection. Max then got a call from Trent's lawyer. After, Melanie came in and tried to order a drink, but Max reminded her that she was underage. He then wished her a happy 18th birthday. She said she wasn't too psyched about her birthday since her life was a mess. "My father is dead, I'm absolutely broke and the whole world hates me," she groused. She considered moving back to Marseilles. He urged her to stick around. Nick overheard, then left and watched her through the window. She then got a call from a distorted male voice that said, "You can run, Melanie, but you can't hide." It was Nick! Max noted her alarm and asked her what was wrong. She said she didn't know and hurried back to Mickey and Maggie's. Nick tried to calm her down and asked why she was so rattled. She admitted that she had received a creepy phone call from the same person who sent the note. Nick vowed to protect her.

From her jail cell, Nicole melted a bit when EJ told her that he was worried about her. He asked why she wound up in the jail infirmary. She explained that she had cramping, but nobody took her seriously. EJ apologized for how things went down with Judge Fitzpatrick. She admitted her was nervous about motherhood, but he assured her that they would raise their child together. EJ then asked her for the truth about what really happened the night Trent was killed.

Rafael and Sami engaged in a staring contest. Rafael was watching over Sami like a hawk so she wouldn't leave the safe house. He told her she may just be his most challenging case yet. She got a little stir crazy from being indoors and broke down. Rafe caved and gave her his cell so she could call Roman. She called Lucas instead, who told her Nicole had been arrested. Rafe realized Sami had pulled a switcheroo, took the phone and hung it up. Rafe's cell phone rang. It was his partner, telling him that they had arrested a wanted criminal. Rafe was annoyed that he was missing the collar, since he had laid all the groundwork for the arrest. Sami apologized that he had to watch her instead and offered to make him dinner. He suspected it was a trick. They talked about her kids while she sliced tomatoes. The pan started smoking and she tried to run out, but he stopped her. While he put the pan in the sink, she swiped his cell phone and agreed to a cease fire. He was wise to her and took his cell out of her pocket. A defeated Sami went to take a shower. Rafe sneaked in and took her clothes.

At the station, Bo and Hope celebrated his appointment as commissioner and joked about what their working dynamic would be now that he was her superior. They closed the blinds of his office and kissed. Bo got a call from EJ, saying that Nicole was ready to talk. The Bradys headed to the jail cell. She confessed that she brought a gun to the cemetery, intending to kill Trent but couldn't do it. She thought she remembered seeing a tall man at the entrance to the cemetery, but assumed it was the caretaker. EJ asked the Bradys if they had questioned the man. Nicole then asked why she had only been arrested recently. They explained that they didn't have enough evidence before. EJ pointed out the incompetence of the police force. The Bradys left; Hope felt that Nicole was telling the truth, which meant they had to find the man she saw in the cemetery. Back at the cell, Nicole suggested that she was set up by Stefano and EJ was in on it.

Stephanie ran into Philip at the gym and thanked him for taking her home the night before. They talked about Melanie and how he had finally seen the light about the gold-digger. She admitted that she was so wrapped up in Max and Mel that she missed her midterms and was worried about not passing the semester. He asked what her major was; she told him it was Advertising. He offered her an internship at Titan. She thanked him, but feared he would be a tough boss in an "arrogant jerk" kind of way. He mused that it was the second time that day he was called that. She clarified that she knew he was a good guy deep down. They agreed they were done with relationships and toasted (water) to the single life.
