Monday
Stefano approached Bo and demanded to know why no one had been arrested for EJ's shooting. Bo said the investigation was ongoing. Stefano chastised Bo, Roman and the "pathetic joke of a police force,"
before ranting about Kate and other suspects. Then, he noted that there was one suspect who was being overlooked: a woman wearing a veil and
dressed in black. Bo assumed the woman must have been there in mourning for Sami. Hence, she was probably family. Stefano concurred and left.
Sami arrived at EJ's hospital room to find him eating and looking well. He credited Sami with the turnaround. She was the best medicine he could have had. EJ sensed something was wrong with his bride, who confided that Lucas sent Will to Switzerland and named their daughter,
Alice Caroline Horton, without telling her. "I'm being pushed out of my children's lives," sobbed Sami. EJ promised all would be fine and urged
Sami to go home and rest. Bo interrupted, saying he needed to talk to Sami. Bo asked if she recalled seeing a woman dressed in black at her
wedding. Sami remembered thinking how sad it was and how she seemed like a widow. "Oh my God. Mom!" gasped Sami. Meanwhile, Stefano popped
in to see EJ and asked why he had not seen his grandson yet, and why the infant wasn't there with EJ. Stefano demanded that EJ stop letting
Sami call the shots regarding Johnny. Sami returned, and Stefano left. EJ told Sami it was time Johnny meet his grandfather. "Absolutely not,"
barked Sami.
Belle and Shawn woke up giddy the morning after their nuptials. Shawn said he'd make breakfast, while Belle looked for her cell to call Doug
and Julie and check on Claire. Suddenly, Belle remembered leaving the phone at Bo and Hope's house and wanted to go pick it up ASAP. Shawn
persuaded Belle to wait until after breakfast, then asked if everything was all right. Belle assured everything was perfect and she wished things could stay like this forever. Shawn served his new wife
breakfast and gave her a present: a photo album. As they perused the pix, Shawn noted that they'd been down a hard road but gotten through it,
and nothing could stop them now.
Marlena looked at a picture of Shawn and Belle sharing the first dance at their wedding and commented on how happy they looked. Hope dropped the bomb: Belle and Philip were still in a relationship and had slept together. Hope noted that Belle promised to cut Philip out of her life,
but hadn't kept her promise. Then, she showed Marlena Belle's cell phone. Marlena couldn't believe it. Hope recounted how she she'd made a
deal with Belle and hadn't told Shawn, but feared she'd made a mistake. Marlena was glad Hope came to her first. Hope admitted she'd already told Bo and Kayla. She'd also decided to put the whole thing behind her...until she listened to Belle's cell phone messages and heard Philip's voice saying they were still seeing each other. Marlena
scolded Hope for violating Belle's privacy and suggested leaving Shawn and Belle to deal with their own problems. Hope thought Marlena should
tell Philip that. Marlena said she would tell Belle, noting that Hope was overreacting. Belle wasn't someone who lied or snuck around. Perhaps Hope misunderstood the voicemail. Hope assured her she hadn't. Philip said he knew he and Belle belonged together when he held her in his arms the night before the wedding. Marlena realized Belle was
confused and was preparing to go talk to her when Bo arrived. He said he knew Marlena went to Sami and EJ's wedding, but didn't know if she'd put a bullet in EJ's spine.
Tuesday
Belle visited Lucas and fawned over the twins. Lucas asked why Belle wasn't honeymooning with Shawn. Belle confessed they couldn't afford it, so they stayed home together. Lucas thought they were lucky and went on about Sami always being with EJ. How would Belle feel if Shawn was always seeing another woman? How would Shawn feel if Belle was always seeing another man? Belle flashed back to her sexcapades with Philip, admitting she didn't know what she'd do in Lucas' situation. Lucas admitted his fear that Sami had fallen in love with EJ. Belle insisted Sami hadn't and urged Lucas not to give up on their family. Lucas swore to protect Sami and the twins from the DiMeras. Belle left, reminding Lucas all of this was as hard on Sami as it was on him.
At the pub, Philip congratulated Shawn on winning the Belle sweepstakes. (Translation: getting her to say, "I do.") Philip wanted to shake hands. Shawn wasn't interested. Their days of being pals were over. Shawn received a call from Bo and left. Belle arrived, and Philip handed her the note Shawn left. Philip asked if Belle wanted to make up for sabotaging Shawn's chances at the academy, noting a piece of evidence had come into his possession. Philip could use it to make Shawn look like a hero, if Belle agreed to an evening with him. Philip needed one night "to talk" and prove they weren't done. Belle refused. Philip told Belle to call him if she changed her mind.
Bo noted a witness saw a woman in black at Sami and EJ's wedding and asked if it was Marlena. She said no. Marlena claimed this was the first day since John's death that she was able to get out of bed. However, she did admit to having a black dress — she wore it to John's funeral. Bo pointed out that John had guns. Marlena countered that Bo would need a search warrant to inspect them. Bo left. Alone with Hope, Bo admitted he wanted to get Marlena worked up so she'd try to dispose of the evidence. Roman arrived, noting his men found a shack near the church and that the SWAT team was there. Bo and Roman headed there and heard a cop reprimanding someone for messing up the crime scene. Turned out it was Shawn, who apologized and promised it wouldn't happen again.
Marlena arrived home, put her gun in a bag and headed out to dispose of it, only to find Hope standing there. Marlena asked Hope to tell Bo she was sorry she didn't trust him, but she wasn't sorry for what she'd done. She explained how she'd gone to the church with a gun hoping Sami wouldn't marry EJ. She then recounted hearing a shot that startled her. Marlena pulled her trigger before hearing another shot. Hope said Marlena's shot might not have hit EJ. Marlena doubted that mattered.
She asked for time to hold the twins and her daughters and put her affairs in order. Then, they could cart her away.
Sami refused to take Johnny to see Stefano. "I want my son to learn to read and write before he learns to cast the evil eye," she told EJ. Speak of the devil, Stefano walked in and asked EJ if he'd spoken to Sami about the baby. Sami said didn't want Stefano involved in Johnny's life. EJ told her she wasn't the only one with a say on how to raise their son and went on about the DiMera tradition, but thought now wasn't the time to settle things. When Stefano left, Sami thanked EJ for supporting her. The Bradys had traditions, too, and handing her son over to the DiMeras wasn't one of them. Sami returned home and asked Lucas if he still loved her. Lucas pointed out that he wasn't the one who wanted an annulment or was running off to see someone else. The pair kissed, and Sami promised to spend more time with Lucas. Back at hospital, Stefano returned and scolded EJ for letting him down. If EJ couldn't handle Sami, Stefano would — his way!
Wednesday
At the pub, Stephanie and Cordy told Chelsea and Nick about Ford showing up at Steve and Kayla's making threats. Nick said Ford was mad about the flyers. Cordy wondered if they were a bad idea. Chelsea insisted they had to warn people about Ford. Cordy didn't want to fight Ford anymore, but Chelsea said they had to stop him. Cordy freaked, so Steph volunteered to drive her home. Alone with Nick, Chelsea suggested they do something together later: Break into Ford's room. Nick refused, fearing he'd lose his job at the college. Chelsea tried to coax him, to no avail. So she left, telling Nick she'd break into Ford's room alone. Nick ran after her. Later, the pair sat in a car outside Ford's room. When his light went out, Chelsea asked if Nick knew how to pick a lock. Nick asked if Chelsea could climb a tree — like the one leading to Ford's window.
Bo reprimanded Shawn for ruining the footprint at the crime scene. Shawn said the other cop overreacted. Bo informed Shawn that he had to do what he was told on the job. He advised Shawn to keep his eyes and ears open and his mouth shut if he wanted to make it as a cop. Shawn appreciated Bo's advice. If only he'd gotten into the academy, he would have been taught about fieldwork in the classroom. Then, Shawn slipped about Belle's letter messing things up. Bo was shocked. Shawn explained that Belle had made a mistake, but he'd forgiven her. Bo saw this as a major betrayal. Belle stabbed Shawn in the back and let somebody else take the blame. Roman interrupted, saying Caroline needed Shawn at the pub. After he left, Roman offered to put a word in for Shawn with the detective who scolded him. Bo said no thanks, noting didn't want word getting out at that they were protecting Shawn. A cop interrupted to show Roman and Bo some shell casings. Bo realized someone had been doing some shooting practice there, and he and Roman wondered who it could be.
Belle arrived at Marlena's door, and her mom began grilling her about married life. Was Belle happy or did she wish she'd married somebody else...like Philip? Belle realized Hope let the cat out of the bag about her romp with Philip and said her mother-in-law was trying to ruin everyone's opinion of her. "Does she have any cause? Did you sleep with Philip?" asked Marlena. Belle tried to talk her way out of it, but Marlena didn't buy it. Disappointed, she asked Belle to see herself out. Belle hesitated, but still wouldn't come clean. Marlena explained that Hope had listened to Belle's cell phone messages and knew Belle was with Philip the night before her wedding to Shawn. Belle sighed, swearing she just went to Philip to talk as a friend. "That's what husbands are for," countered Marlena, urging Belle to steer clear of Philip if she wanted her marriage to work. Belle swore she loved Shawn, but wished he were more confident. Philip was always in control and took care of her, which felt really good. "You can't have them both," advised Marlena, who spoke from experience, having spent years caught between two men. Belle admitted she was confused, but loved Shawn. Marlena told Belle to honor that and stop seeing Philip before she lost everything.
Later, Belle arrived at the pub to find Shawn. He admitted to getting his head bit off by his dad and another detective after making a mistake on a crime scene. Shawn felt Bo had lost faith in him. "This is all my fault," whined Belle, knowing Shawn would be in the academy if it wasn't for her letter. She excused herself and called Philip, promising to grant him one night alone with her if he helped Shawn's career.
Thursday
Chelsea and Nick broke into Ford's room. Nick found Ford's journal,
which was written in code and rated the sorority sisters he raped. Nick
took pix of the pages, while Chelsea discovered something else: a
bottle of sleeping pills. Suddenly, they heard Ford outside and ran to
hide. Ford walked in with a girl and headed right for the bed. Ford
noticed the broken window and his opened journal and rushed the girl
out. Then, he put the pills and journal in his backpack and took off.
Nick and Chelsea made their getaway. Later, Ford caught up with the duo
and accused them of going through his stuff. Chelsea and Nick feigned
innocence. Ford warned them they were playing with fire. Chelsea and
Nick headed to Bo with their evidence.
Belle got a call from Philip, noting that the plan to make Shawn look
like a hero was in place. All she had to do was make sure Shawn was in
the alley behind the pub. Belle obliged and Shawn found two men making
a deal for a gun. The seller said he found it in a car behind Titan.
Shawn turned RoboCop and confiscated the gun. When Belle came outside,
Shawn explained what happened and left to turn the gun over to Bo.
Philip thanked Kate for coming to his office; then broke the bad news.
The gun she gave him to get rid of was gone. Someone broke into his car
and took it. Kate was worried, since the gun tied her to EJ's shooting.
Philip assured her the gun couldn't be traced to her. Philip's phone
rang. He answered and told Kate it was business, so she left. Turned
out it was monkey business, as Belle informed him everything went
according to plan. Philip told Belle to meet him at the hotel. Soon,
the thugs involved in the gun caper showed up for payment. Philip
handed them their cash and sent them away.
Belle arrived at the hotel and told Philip she couldn't cheat on
Shawn, again. Philip wanted to talk and apologized for how he behaved
before Belle's wedding. Belle told him Hope heard the message he left
her and told Marlena about it. Philip wanted Belle to go, insisting he
didn't help Shawn to get her into bed. Belle made her choice and he had to
respect that. Philip went on about how hard it was for him to let go.
Belle recounted Philip chasing her and Claire down last summer. She
realized he'd only done it because he loved them. Finally, Belle
admitted she loved both Philip AND Shawn. Belle and Philip kissed
passionately. Then, Philip backed off. "No matter what we do someone
will get hurt. I won't let it be you, Belle," he whispered, leading her
out the door. Belle stood in the hall motionless as the elevator doors
opened and their stood Chloe. The gals hugged. Chloe, assuming Belle
was there with Shawn, said she'd love to say hi to him.
Bo and Roman inspected the cabin. Bo noted that the shell casings they
found were a godsend. All they had to do was find the gun that fired
them. Roman left for the station, and Hope arrived with Marlena's trash
bag containing the dress, veil and gun. Hope said Marlena fired her
gun, but wasn't sure she shot EJ. Bo filled Hope in on Shawn messing up
the evidence earlier. Suddenly, Shawn rushed in with the gun, noting
the thug he confiscated it from said he stole it from a car parked
behind Titan. Bo took the gun to the station, while Hope told Shawn how
proud Bo was of him. Later, Bo returned noting there was a good chance
for a match. Shawn went to the pub to find Belle. Bo and Hope stayed
behind, when Bo got a call from the cop shop noting they'd matched the
gun to one of the bullets at the church.
Back at the station, Roman informed Kate that they'd found her gun and
it matched a bullet taken from the church. "I didn't shoot EJ," swore
Kate. Roman had an officer cuff Kate; then, arrested her for EJ's
attempted murder.
Friday
Nick and Chelsea asked Stephanie to meet them at the pub to talk to Bo and Steve. When they got there, Nick and Chelsea announced they had gathered enough evidence to arrest Ford. "Are you crazy?" Stephanie asked. Why would you do that?" Bo said they couldn't use the photos because they were taken illegally, since Chelsea broke into Ford's room. As they looked at the photos, they noticed Ford made notes about the girls he'd taken advantage of and what sorority houses they were members of. When they saw one girl from the Theta house was still unknown, Stephanie became nervous that they would discover her secret. Bo told Chelsea not to go back to Ford's place. Stephanie said they should forget about it, but Chelsea said she couldn't because he would keep hurting girls. Steve suggested he and Bo go pay him a visit, but Stephanie demanded that they stop investigating it. After Stephanie's emotional outbursts, everyone wondered what was up with her. Stephanie said she didn't want Ford to come after her, and Steve said that she didn't have to worry because they would take care of him. Bo and Roman went to Ford's room, and told him they were there not as policemen but as fathers who wanted to talk about their daughters and the rest of the Theta girls. Ford threatened to call the police, but Bo punched him in the stomach. "I don't care who your daddy is, he wont recognize your pretty face when I'm through with you," Bo sneered.
At the hotel, Chloe asked Belle where she could find Philip, and Belle said Philip was staying at his dad's house. Chloe asked Belle how Philip looked, and before Belle could answer, Philip walked out of his room and ran into them. Chloe was surprised to see Philip, and she gave him her number so he could call her later. When she left, Belle told Philip she thought Chloe saw her come out of his room. Philip said he would explain things to Chloe, but Belle remained worried. Later Philip called Chloe and invited her to have a drink with him. Once they met, Chloe said she saw Belle come out of his room, but promised she'd keep his secret. Philip said that he and Belle met to discuss Claire. Chloe said she planned on moving back to town, and Philip suggested she call Shawn to catch up. Chloe said that maybe they would all be able to regain their old magic.
When Belle returned home she and Shawn made love. While they cuddled afterwards, Shawn asked Belle how she was able to make so many wonderful things happen in his life. He then said the gun he found belonged to Kate and the police were looking for her. Belle congratulated him and told him she was proud.
At the police station, Kate told Roman that she didn't shoot EJ, But Roman said all the evidence said she did. Kate called Philip from the police station and told him she'd been arrested for attempted murder. He advised her to keep her mouth shut until he showed up and got her a lawyer. When Philip arrived, Kate told him she wouldn't be in this mess if he had gotten rid of the gun like she asked him to. "If I go down, you're going with me," she vowed. Philip said that she wouldn't go down, and Kate told him she believed the gun was found because of Philip's lust for Belle.
She said she hoped whatever Belle gave him in return was worth selling out his mother.
When Philip left, Roman returned and Kate asked him how much trouble she was in. Kate said she had the gun, but she didn't fire it on purpose. Roman told Kate she should have come to him before Shawn found the gun. Kate told Roman she needed him to help her. "I need a friend who can go in that evidence room and make sure that gun is never seen again," she cooed. "Are you that kind of friend?" Roman said he couldn't tamper with evidence, and he left to go check on the results of the lab work. While he spoke with another officer, Kate overheard that Marlena was another suspect in the shooting.
